New Here

  • Hello! I am restarting WW and looking for some support because I am doing the at home program and my motivation is nonexistent.

I am 27 and a stay at home mom with two year old twins. I have gained 30 lbs since they were born so I have a total of 60 lbs to lose. We want to start trying to get pregnant again so I want to lose weight and be healthier for that reason. I saw there is a bio thread so I will post there.

I hope it's okay if I join this group. I need HELP!

    Thanks, Rikki
  • Welcome Rikki,

You have found a good tool for helping to lose weight Everyone here is very helpful.I am 25 and have a 2 year old daughter, and have about 60 lbs to lose also. Maybe we can motivate each other . My main problems are finding time to exercise, (when you are chasing after twins, I'm sure that's not a problem and also staying away from my mother-in-law's cooking, she comes over and babysits while I work, and is always cooking dinner for us, and baking fresh bread every few days..my willpower is not that strong..

    Good luck

  • Thanks for the welcome Sofi. I would love to be able to help each other out. I can't imagine what help I actually can be because I haven't even attempted to begin. What's my problem??

I can't imagine being in your shoes--having someone in your house cooking for you?? I would love it but I would be HUGE. :-) That's so nice of her, though!! Can you eat a small portion of whatever it is and add a veggie on the side?? I know when I go to my parents' house, I just eat horribly. I live very close to them so it's not pretty.

I need accountability or something. Maybe I just need to begin. I don't know. It's depressing being this weight but the work seems overwhelming!!

  • Thanks for the great idea, if I really have to try some of what my MIL makes, I should have a good serving of vegetables or salad on the side. I think my biggest weakness would have to be the bread, especially trying to stick to one portion.

The thought of losing sixty pounds may seem overwhelming but we should try to see it in a series of small steps, like trying to lose 5 pounds at a time.

As for accountability, we could post our meals on the forum on a daily basis, if you're willing, maybe others will join us.

Just curious:are the twins girls or boys?

This WWer's website is inspiring, she went from a size 16 to a size 10,

  • You are right--5 lbs at a time is the best way to go--just like at WW meetings where you get a sticker for every 5 lbs. Do you do meetings?? I do the at home program because meetings just don't work in my life! I am willing to post meals but it's ugly! I am not even trying so it sounds pretty bad. Do you want to start a new thread each week, maybe?? Let me know how it works!

I have boy/girl twins. Do you have a boy or a girl? It's a fun age, isn't it? I love how their personality is so strong and they are talking so much. It actually made me very sad when they turned two which is probably why I am ready to get pregnant again! :-)

    Take care...Rikki
  • Hi Rikki
I guess it would be best to start a new thread each week..I haven't exactly been OP for a while, but now is the best time to start, I am also trying to do this from home..my goal for this week is to plan some healthy meals, then make a grocery list, and go shopping...I think I will start posting my meals on Jan. 3rd..

    My Ideas so far
    Breakfast:
    low-fat oatmeal or
    special K bar or
    special K cereal
    Snacks
    100 calorie packs or
    fruit or
    low fat yogurt or
    Glenny's soy crisps or
    low fat granola bars
    Lunch:
    ww bread
    tuna or
    vegetables or
    chikn or
    Dinner:
    chicken breast or
    vegetables or
    brown rice or
    ????

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

  • Hi Sofi! How are you? I am worried that I won't be able to post my meals as much but we can try it and see how it goes. Your ideas looked pretty good. Do you get the WW magazine? They have menu ideas in there that usually have some good ideas. I like easy and simple and it has to be kid-friendly so sometimes I just have to worry about portions and make what is high in points. You know? Well, good luck--you can do it! :-)
  • Rikki,
No, I don't get the magazine, but I regularly check the official website, and they have some great recipes. I know it's not easy to make recipes for the whole family that are low in fat, are your babies picky eaters? I know with my daughter, it seems like she only eats a few foods, and doesn't really like to experiment, so I make her meals separately most of the time.
I guess we will just try and post as many meals as we can, and see how it goes. If we make a sincere effort, I know we can do it.

    Have a Happy New Year,

    Sofi
  • Hi Sofi! My kids aren't horribly picky but they aren't real excited about new thigns I try. I have had some water and I have exercised today so that's a good start. I am going to look up some points when I get off line and journal those. Of course we can do this!! It's just not the easiest thing. :-)
