Hey there,
Been drinking my fair share of the water. I wish it would get my fever down and junk out of my lungs. I'm so tired of feeling so bad it's been 3 weeks now and I hate it. Sorry, I'm just whnining a little. My subbing job finished up today (I have really enjoyed it). |
Well, Tim learned alot on his trip to Bluffton on Thursday and Friday. They had a get-together for all of the high school kids and college kids with games, pizza, and music. Then some of them went on back to the dorms. Tim and his host went back to the dorm, then those 2 and a few other guys went out on the campus and played tennis ball golf. Yes, you heard that right. They hit tennis balls around the campus with golf clubs. Remember, this is at night, like midnight!!! Tim said they got back to the dorm about 2:00. This really wasn't the kind of thing that I wanted him to learn. lol Bluffton only has about 1600 students. Tim said they even talked to the security police while they were golfing. Oh my!
He has decided against it though because the criminal justice dept. isn't as good as the other two schools he is looking at. His friend that went with him is interested in broadcast journalism, and that dept. isn't as good either. I'm hoping they both end up at Ball State in Muncie, Indiana. It's only an hour from here. Tina, the Dogwood festival sounds like fun. I love to look at craft items. I can't do crafts, so I like to see what others can do. I've been holding back from buying things lately though. I've started getting things together for a garage sale this summer. We are talking about moving to a smaller home in a couple years, so I thought I should be going through things now instead of waiting. Susan, I'm not sure of the inhaler that I was on a couple years ago that really kicked it out of me. I keep thinking alovair or something like that. It's a purple container, I do know that!! I had the ick from the end of November until February that time. That's the only thing that worked. Say something to your doctor about it. I highly recommend it. I'm glad you enjoyed the subbing. Any other long terms coming up? Maybe I'll take the rest of the year off, and you can sub for me!! |
Hi,
I hope everyone had a good weekend. I went over to the grocery store where they were having Cholesterol testing and got mine done. (I didn't do the whole fasting routine when they check the HDL & LDL.) I'm so happy to report that my number is 210!!!!!!! Four months ago, it was 230. I've been working hard and it's paid off. Now I wish I'd paid the extra money and had the whole thing done. Then, I could've sent the results to my new doctor. Now, I still have to go in and get tested. Oh well, now I know my number and I am sooooooo happy! 'Couldn't wait to tell y'all. Susan, I hope you are feeling better. How is everyone else doing? Tina :flow1: |
Tina, good for you on the cholesterol!!!! Woo Hoo!!
Susan, I think the inhaler was Advair not whatever I said in the other post. I hope you are getting better. Beautiful sunrise this morning! I got Tim out of bed to see it, and even he was impressed! Time to finish getting ready for school. I had 3 absent yesterday, so I felt like my room was almost empty. I only have 17 kids this year. Have a great day!! |
Good morning to all,
Tammy, I wish I'd seen that sunrise. And, wow I can't believe you have so few students this time. I'll bet that makes it easier on your. You haven't mentioned your principal in ages. (Ooops, maybe I shouldn't have said anything.:) ) I hope everything is quiet around school and that you are feeling pretty good. Is your fibro acting up much right now? Susan, my mother used that Advair that Tammy mentioned. It helped her once. Mimi, how are you girl? I hope your stresses have eased, as well as your workload. Sis, speaking of work, how's the new position going? How was your vacation? Did you just rest or do something fabulously outrageous?   Shadow, Tina637, Motts, Christine, Rosalita, and the list goes on and on.......we haven't heard from any of you in ages and we miss our group. It's a beautiful day here. I might just go outside to walk and leave the treadmill alone. :D :flow1: |
Tina; I hope that all those who aren't reporting in are just so busy with the beautiful spring they don't have time for the computer. I have been staying pretty busy myself.
Congratulations on the great cholesteral test that 20 points can make a big difference. Tammy; it sounds like you are feeling better, and wow 17 in your class, don't tell any Ontario teachers they would be packing up and moving to Ohio tomorrow. Susan; I am plastering my chest with cabbage leaves tonight to see if it helps with the asthma cough. I have a palliative care client who is getting his chest covered every night and believe me this last week he is better than he has been in months, but the spring and sunshine doesn't hurt. I will let you know if it helps, but keep taking your water and vitamins. We finally have some tulips poking their heads up and a few daffodils are blooming in my front garden. I have been having mild success in my dieting, but have had a couple of bad nights. I have to keep my mind on the long run results. I saw Supersize Me last night and, WOW, even though I think these guys who make documentaries can colour their product to look any way they like I was really surprised at the medical difference in his body before and after his month long battle with McD's I think about how they try drugs out on lab rats by feeding them mega doses and look for side effects. He really showed life threatening results in 28 days. If you have never seen it it's worth a look. I love the healthy choices that the fast food places are bringing in now. Martha's Vinyard salad at Arbies is my favourite. Well I am out of steam. Take care of yourself! Mimi |
Hey friends,
I would love to say that I'm enjoying my time off since my sub job ended Friday, but it's probably a good thing since I've felt so bad. I think I'm starting to feel a little better this evening after 3 weeks. Mimi, let me know if the cabbage leaves work! I need something. I love tulips but I never seem to have luck with them. Tina, your cholestral is a success if you can get it lower any number! :) I'm on meds to keep mine low and hope as I keep losing weight it will go down some more. It runs in my family. Tammy, wow 3 kids out. It's funny how just a few make a big difference. Hope you are feeling good. I got to meet my brother's fiancee this weekend and she is wonderful. You can look at them and see how happy they are! I'm thrilled!!! |
Tina, you would think that the small classes would be a blessing. They aren't. This year's 2nd graders are low academically and behavior problems. It hasn't been a good year. The principal is picking on other people this year. Finally leaving me alone.
I'll have to come back and say more later. Tim needs the computer. Boo hiss. |
Me again. Of my 17 students, 2 of them have learning disabilites. It is a success if I can get them to write their names. 2 of my boys have been kicked off of their busses more than once. It is the end of 2nd grade, and usually we have some students reading at 5th grade level or higher. Our highest just hit 3rd grade level. The man who volunteers to do math on the computers in the library once a week with all of the 2nd graders is totally frustrated. This is his 5th or 6th year working for me. This is the lowest group. We've been doing addition with trading (carrying) since October. Yesterday he had almost 10 kids who had no idea what they were supposed to do. We have 4 second grade classes. All with low number of students. Because of budget cuts, etc., they will be in 3 classes next year as 3rd graders. We've already voiced our opinions to the administration that it would be a big mistake with this group. BUT they are looking at the numbers, not the ability/behavior of the students. They say that they care about the kids, but this is proof that they don't.
I have good days and bad days with the fibromyalgia. Friday when I got home I went right to bed. I'm always exhausted by then. I really think it would be good for me to take 1/2 day off in the middle of the week to catch up after Mon. and Tues. I'm sure the doctor would write me a permission slip to do it. Tina, did you walk and not do the treadmill? I really need to get more walking in. The scales show that I'm up (that's why I hate to go to the weigh in thread), but the clotes are still fitting the same. Not sure what that's all about. I want to know about the cabbage leaves too. Mimi, I've never seen that Supersize Me, but I've heard plenty about it. Susan, glad you liked your future SIL. I like all of mine. I need to head for school. Rather head back to bed. |
Hi,
I went to weigh in this morning and was down 5 pounds. I'm now down 12.2 pounds. Still feel lousy but to a leaser degree now. So that is positive too, I'll be glad when I'm all clear. Tammy, administrators never think about what is REALLY best for kids (I know some years the kids are just so much lower and have such different needs) Tina, are you doing anything fun? How is your mom doing? Mimi, make sure that you stop and smell the flowers! Don't work too hard. |
Good for you Susan!! 5 pounds is awesome!!
Hope you get to feeling much better soon. |
Susan, that is fantastic!!!!!!! :bravo: :bravo: :bravo:
|
Is everyone ready for the weekend? I am.
I can stay in bed maybe until 7:30 and then have my hot tea brought to me. That's living. We don't have anything major going on. (We've worked in the yard for 2 weekends.) Our weather is great now. We seldom have this much nice weather. It either starts raining or getting very hot. Spring is usually a 2-week event. I'll probably spend some time in my hammock tomorrow. :o Everyone have a good one. And, post!!!!! :flow1: |
I just realized I had not posted in a couple of days. Well, I FINALLY feel better!!! I'm still coughing some but at least I'm better. I subbed yesterday and today. They wanted me to on Monday but I declined. I am on Wed. too.
Pat went to visit his family this weekend so I'm solo. It's funny because I have nothing planned nor nothing to really do. I guess I'll clean the house but it's not real messy so it won't take that long to do. I think I'll go to an annunal native plant sell tomorrow. I've always wanted to go but always miss it. I'm sure that I'll find something there that I'll want. Plus the weather is great here too!!! Tina, I'll take some of that tea too. The hammock sounds very relaxing. :) Tammy, how are you doing today? How much school is left? I now you are counting the days! Mimi, what's new with you? |
Hi gang! I'm doing ok. Glad that it's the weekend. We are going to a funeral for Bob's aunt tomorrow. She was 90 years old. She was such a sweetie.
Our last day of school is June 3. Yes, I'm looking forward to it!!!! Today at school, the supt. and principal met with the teachers whose contracts will not be renewed because of budget cuts. Sad. They have 2 year recall rights, and in the next couple of years, there should be some retirements. (I'm in 2 years!!!!) Now we have to wait and see what they are going to do with the rest of us. They will be changing the number of teachers at some grade levels, but they haven't said what yet. One of the teachers that was let go teaches 7-8 grade Science. I know of one teacher on the elementary staff who has experience with junior high science. Guess who? It hit me like a ton of bricks this afternoon when I realized that they could move me to the junior high. Oh my. If it happens, I'll just have to make the best of it. At least I would be with a decent principal. |
