Default Feisty & Sexy 50-60 yr old #43

G'day all,

I have been up since very early this morning.
I have been commisioned to do a website for a fashion designer. I was asked some months ago and then I heard nothing but now they want the website as in yesterday So panic has set in and I was lying in bed thinking what I need to get the site up and running. No point staying in bed, got up and have emailed what I need and my price.
Nice to see your post this morning Ann Well done with your sale on your flea market. Handy little profit for stuff you don't want. I also wonder what happened to Eileen, I liked her no nonsense approach, she had some interesting experiences and views on life.

Well it has happened, I got my camera One of dh's colleagues is in Singapore. He gets terribly bored and so we got him to check out some prices for the camera we want. He rang last night and he got one at $400 less then in Australia. He may not be back in Australia for a few weeks, so I will still have to wait

Off to see the Jewish War Museum today. The only one in Australia is here in Sydney and a smaller one in Melbourne. Probably not a very cheerful thing to do but it will be interesting.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Cheers
Maria

I've been trying on my own but i really need the group support. Any way feeling a lot more positive about my self just for getting there.Made a short trip to the local veggie market. They have wonderful producemthere at such a great price. Got green peppers 4 for $1.00 read peppers 3 for $1.00 tomatoes were 89Cents a pound. it was wonderful. Also got lettuce sweetpotatoes and onion, carrots and a melonMaria i agree you should get the camera. You like that and you should have something you like. I like diamonds. Don't have but one but i like thim anyway.DH A1C number went up so he now has to take pills for his blood sugar. The A1c number is what they use to gage if you need to take medication. It should be under 7 and his was 7.8 Well have to go we are going out for a while tonight. We do get out more since we moved. I really don't have time for a job!
Karen

Hi Everybody

Trudy and I and our husbands did go out for dinner last night. We went to a casual restaurant, we all enjoyed our meals and they came back here for a drink after. Trudy and I finished off a bottle of Chocolate Raspberry Cream Liquor that I bought when Tony was visiting. It sure is goooood! We had a nice evening with great friends.
Of course I am still "piggysitting" while family is away. I have to say Miss Piggy is certainly one of the cutest little guinea pigs I ever saw. DH and went to the pet store today to see if there was anything I could buy for her and I looked at the piggies there. My grandpig beats them all. hee hee She sure knows that I am the one that feeds her and squeals everytime I walk into the kitchen. I bought her all kinds of fresh vegs.when we were out today. She likes them and they are good for her. I put her into a plastic storage box lined with a towel so that I can carry her from room to room so she doesn't get lonely in the kitchen. Trudy suggested I get some kind of "baby" carrier then I could just hang her around my neck. LOL LOL....in fact a couple of my friends have suggested that.
Maria that's nice that you are going to get the camera. You love taking photos and you do such a great job of it, that you'll get a lot of pleasure from that birthday gift.
Karen good for you for getting back to WW. I better make the move to getting back too, or I will be really sorry. I need to face that scale at WW to do well and I also enjoy being with the group at the meetings.
Glenda I know it's tough waiting for your results.......let us know the good news as soon as you can.
Ann it sure didn't take you too long to get into the thick of things at the park. Good for you.
Peggy you've been a little quiet lately, what are you up to?
The weather today was not that cold but damp and dreary. Not my favorite kind of day. Our son called from Florida....he calls us every day to see how his Dad and I are making out. He said yesterday was a little cool but today looked to be a nice day and they were going to Magic Kingdom.
Hope you all have a lovely evening. Bye for now.

Slavika,

You'll be happy to know that Yesterday did turn out to be a really nice day. just not as warm as we like. To however is going to be a different story. Lots of sunshine and in the low to mid 70's. A beautiful day to be in Florida. How long will your Son and family be away?? And down here they sell at pet places a carrying sling thing to carry around a dog. Guess it would work for Miss Piggy.

Glad you and Trudy and DH's had a nice time. Just how much of a bottle did you and Trudy finish off????

We are going to hit the flea market today so I need to go get ready.

Karen

G'day all,

Slavika that liqueur surely MUST have been of the no point variety
Sounds like you had a good night
I am sure your little 'grandpig' is very cute, my dd had 2 when she was about 7, cannot say they were my favourite pets we ever had.
Maybe it was because they were never inside the house and we never really got to know them nor did they get to know us.

Karen good for you getting yourself back to WW. I wonder did you get a bargain like me at the flea market. We came across a flea market in our travels yesterday and there was this 'chrystal' party type platter for the huge sum of $2.00 I don't have anything like that here and to buy the plastic throw away variety at the supermarket is $3.00. With visitors over the next months or so I will be very posh serving nibbles on my 'crystal' platter

We went, amongst other places, to the Jewish War Museum. It was very interesting though a bit depressing. There was a guided tour, I am glad I joined the tour to get a better understanding of the Jewish religious requirements etc. DH got a bit bored but all in all I am glad we went.

Very warm day here today, thank goodness for airconditioning!

Cheers
Maria

Hi All: Just a quiet day today. Took our former neighbor and her sister out for lunch today. She is now in a retirement home,(independant living) but she no longer has a car. It has been a difficult time for her since her DH passed on the middle of january.

Doing a bit of work on the upcoming show.

Slavika: My DD had a pigglet when she was about 8 or 9. I remember the squealing when she would come home. I also remember that on more than one occaision she managed to wet on DD and also on the rest of us at different times, but Snoopy was a nice pet and easy to care for.

Chocolate Raspberry Liquor sounds a bit decadent, and delicious.

Last night the show that we saw in our concert series was an Illusionist/Magician. All I want to ask was 'How do they do that'? They were very good. They had just come back from a tour to Australia, and also to China. The assistant was married to an Australian girl. Magic acts just fascinate me, and I can never really figure out how they do what they do. They were called "The Spensers". Every hear of them, Maria?
They are good enough to be in any big theater show on a regular basis, but they choose to travel. They have also toured expensively in Canada. It was a man and wife team, and the assistansts were also man and wife, and he was a magician also.

Have a good rest of the weekend, and a good next week. Ann

Karen: I hear you. Every time I think I can do it by my self Im always wrong. I need the support to. I think its facing the scale for me also. I love Flea Markets you can always find great stuff at them

Slavika: Piggy sounds so cute!

Maria: I checked out your pictures they sure were great!

Just got back from the 200$ store. Use to only spend about 100 when we went to Costco. Now it always seems like its 200$

Ann I haven't heard of them. Those sort of acts don't usually come to Adelaide, only Melbourne and Sydney. We have only been in Sydney 3 months and I have not read about them since we have been here.
I like magic but find it sooooooo frutrating when I know it is anillusion but I cannot work it out .

Nice to 'see' you Lily What do they sell in Costco, I often read in the posts about some of you going there. What am I missing out on? Will that be a 'must visit' when we come on our USA/Canada trip?

Cheers

Didn't buy anything at the flea market the line of cars to get into the parking lot was too much!!. Did go into the mall to Trade Secrets to get some hair junk. Then we just came home. Dh took a short snooze and when he woke up he was having one of those SVT things with his heart. So we made a run to the ER and they gave him the shot that makes it all quiet down again. Tomorrow he will be talking with his doctor at the VA to see if some of his meds need to be tweeked. It was scary until I got to the ER then I calmed down enough to get through the next 2 hours. They did the blood work to check if he was having a heart attack. All blood work came back normal. He didn't want to go to the ER and I had to talk him into it. After he had the shot and was going to be alright. I told him if this happens again I wasn't going to argue I was just going to put him in the car myself. Why are men like that? But even he admitted once we were in the ER he felt better. Now he is watching the Super Bowl . I'm very glad he is ok.

Ann we were in Lakeland last night to see a man named Jeffery Wells He sings with the Metropolitan Opera. He travels around during the off season and does concerts at churches to help inspire young people to follow their dreams. He sang songs like The Shadow of Your Smile,Old Man River,Welcome To My World, Can't think of them all now my mind draws a blank. But he gave a wonderful performance that we all really enjoyed. (no opera)Finished off with some gospel music. Again I say wonderful.

Lily I never would have thought to pour the liquor over ice cream but now that you have put that little thought into my head I think it would be just WONDERFUL. Of course, that pretty much will triple the amount of points. LOL LOL

Glenda I am so happy that your test results were so good.

Guys, I had a wonderful post all written out. Don't have time to write it all again. A quick summary: glad to have a good result. Slavika, good grandma to Miss Piggy. Loved your liquor, leave out the alcohol. Maria, great about the camera. Lily, most stores I go to are the $200 store, unfortunately. And Karen, you are doing it right, going to WW. I am still trying to do it alone. Good thing about going to the doctor is that they MAKE you step on the scales. 10 pounds! Yuck!

Have a good day!

G'day all,

As I am waiting for my floors to dry I thought I will quickly come and say 'hello'.
I am having a bit of a spring clean for the arrival of my visitors tomorrow.

Glenda how annoying to loose your post I am waiting patiently for my camera to get to Australia. Cannot wait to start 'playing' with it. We brought over the lenses of our normal Canon SLR that will fit my new camera, lots of fun and more learning

Yesterday I went to a workshop to learn more about PDF files. Adobe has brought out a new version of Acrobat (Acrobat 7) DH uses it for work and I have been wanting to know more....boy my head is still spinning.

Friends from Adelaide rang to see if we are back in Adelaide on the 19th. One of our friends is turning 60 and they are going on a hot air balloon ride to celebrate this milestone There are 4 couples and we have known each other forever, unfortunately we won't be there.
I made a card this morning, rather than telling you, I will email it to you!
DH is writing a poem covering the last 50 years that he has known him!

Floors are dry, must get on to some more tidying

Cheers
Maria

Maria, I hadn't read your post when I got the card. Now I have the background. Funny card.

I have a good friend who has really poor health. We were in a group in high school and still friends. Anytime we get together it is as if we saw each other yesterday and are still in high school. You know that kind of relationship? Anyway, she has had "bleeds"--that is what they call it, I think, poor arteries. Four years ago she had one in her brain and almost died and will if it occurs in the same place. She just had another at the top of her spinal cord. She is a walking timebomb. Possibly there is a doctor in Arizona who could do a surgery, don't know yet. But it could leave her impaired--blind, unable to walk, talk, etc. I think she should at least go to that facility for a second opinion, to find out her options. One thing I found out 7 years ago is that if you are going to a regional facility and they don't give you good news, you find a specialist and have a second opinion. Hope she does.

Slavika, you are such a grandma--kids or guinea pigs--you are born grandparents (suckers). Miss Piggy is indeed a fortunate pig. Are your kids coming back today?

Karen, enjoy the weather. Everybody I know is freezing--no 70 degrees in our forecast. Sorry about your DH, but he will get the help he needs and be fine.

I just got new glasses and with insurance paying more than half, I paid $225. I also have to get contacts. These things are not luxuries but necessities. I told DH that I am getting more and more high maintenance--not plastic surgeries, but health maintenance.

I am back to walking (treadmill) and counting points. Just takes so much determination when you are weak.

Hi everyone:
Maria: Loved the post card. You are so clever with this computer and your camera.

Glenda: So happy that you had a good report.

Karen: YOur concert sounded wonderful. Right now I am the entertainment chair for our park, and twice a year we have a Showtime. We have contracted with a young man who will be here to sing, on March 5th. We heard him at a show case that features many artists. They each get 20 min. to show a bit of what they do. 4 of us went, and we all thought he is just great. So we signed the contract. Now it will be the selling of tickets to pay for him.

Slavika: Are you missing your 'Miss Piggy'? I hope your family had a great time at Disney World. We have had pretty good weather for doing all the attractions.

I have started directing a choir at church, but it is going to be hard to get everyone to come out. We are doing it on sort of a trial basis, and if no one shows, then it is done. Our 'It's for the Birds' show for here at the park is coming along quite well.

Haven't made it back to WW but have been going to Curves twice and week and walking more. I have been mentally counting points, but haven't been writing anything down. I imagine that is a mistake.

Hi Trudy, Peggy, Lily Hope everyone has a good weekend. 'See' you. Ann
