hello,30 somethings!!!I was glad to find this thread.I can call myself thirtysomething for 3 more years!!!!Thats scarier than being on a diet!!!I am back on ww's since may4.I weigh in on sunday mornings.I have actually lost 23.6 pounds since that day!!!I think ww's is the most sensible plan, but had not much success with it the last couple of times i joined. But this time the weight is falling off!!!!I know i can't lose this rapidly for ever, but it has been very encouraging!!!I know you're supposed to eat bkfast, but i usually skip it.Do most of you find that you save your points for later in the day or not?just wondering how others follow the plan.Hope my posts stay happy!!!

start:186.6

Join in the fun?!

Hi! I am a 30-something in my 2nd week of weight watchers and hoping I can join your group.
I had a 2.8 loss in week 1 but this week has been pretty bad. I guess tha it is only Wednesday and I don't weigh until Monday so there is always time to get back on track. I have to take your tips on writing it down. When I am doing good I write it but when I slip - funny how I forget! I'll get the nack of it I hope.

A short bio:
Monica "Nica"
From: Kansas City
Age:33
Married
1 son, age 6 1/2 - starting 1st grade in the fall
The excuse of trying to lose the post pregnancy weight doesn't work well anymore, even though it is the truth! How sad.

Program: WW points - at work

My start wt: 172.6
Last weight 169.8
WW 10% goal: 155.6
MY Goal: 140

I'm new to these message boards so bear with me:)

Diane in Ottawa 06-27-2001 10:10 PM

Hello Ladies,

I've been reading your bios (and posts). It's interesting to be able to get to know people without every really "knowing" them. I've been doing WW Winning Points for twelve weeks and so far, it's great. I've been losing weight quickly and consistently. I fully expect to hit a wall any day now! Anyone else feeling this way?

Here's my bio -

Name: Diane
Age: 33
Hometown: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
Occupation: public servant - very common in this government town
Status: very happily married
Children: 2 daughters (ages 8 and 2)
Hobbies: playing with my kids, improving my home, reading, watching TV and surfing the net
Weight Loss Program: Weight Watchers
How long: 12 weeks
Start weight: 328
Now weight: 293
Goal weight: 150
What's worked the most for you: planning and eating low-fat
Ultimate reward when goal is reached: I haven't thought about it. I think being thinner and fitter will be its own reward ... having enough energy to outlast my kids, wearing fashionable clothes, ...

Thalia 06-27-2001 10:54 PM

Welcome Luca, Nica, and Diane. It's a real treat to meet you.

Pam;

4.5? Awesome! Fabulous! Wonderful! Magnificent! I won't say what it was my first instinct to say about your future sister-in-law, because, well, she's your future sister-in-law. However, I'm really glad that you'll be feeling so much better about how you look when you go to the wedding. I'll be thinking of you!

I just had my weigh-in tonight. I lost another 3 pounds. That makes 16.2 in 4 weeks. I'm quite happy.

I also started exercising today, but I whined about that on a couple of other boards, so I won't here. Let's just say it wasn't pretty. If anyone has any suggestions for beginning exercises for REALLY out-of-shape people, I'm listening.

Taunia--I peeked in at your Musicians, Artists and Thespians Board--very entertaining. And I LOVED the picture you posted from the photo shoot that was only have your face with your hair hanging over your eye--very sexy! I'm so glad that you have such confidence in yourself already. When you reach your goal weight you will be a force to be reckoned with.

Hope everyone's doing great, and I'll talk to you all soon,

Jill

Aww, Jill....that's so sweet! Thank you. : )

I'm feeling pretty good today! I lost another 2 lbs last night- which seems to be the norm now- and I'm at a total of 28.4 lbs lost in 16 weeks. That's not a bad ratio at all!

Jill- I hear you. I hate excercizing, but alas, it is inevitable.

How is everyone else doing? Weigh-in results?

Cheers,
Taunia

Hi, All.

Just checking in again.

Jill -- great job on the 3 pound loss! I know what you mean about exercise. What are you doing for exercise? I am a walker. I tend to not stick with anything else because I get discouraged. Walking never disappoints me. We have a lovely Riverfront Park here in Niles (where I live) and my little guys love to ride their bikes while I walk, which is nice. I would recommend doing something simple to start (like walking, for instance) so that you don't burn out before it becomes habit.

Taunia -- Great job! Two pounds is a great accomplishment!

Welcome Aboard Nica, Luca, and Diane in Ottawa!

Well, better get off the computer and get to bed. I kinda lose track of time when I'm putzing around on the 'puter!

Hope all of you have a great weekend!

Hi all, I figured it is time to do the bio thing. I had a really rough day yesterday. I wrote about it on another thread, and I think I know what was bugging me. This morning I have already walked 45 min and done a 20 min weight lifting video. That makes me feel good, and gives me some hope for the rest of the day.

HOLA MUCHACHAS

Hey gals (and guys? any?)!

I am glad to see everyone is doing well!

I thought I'd post because of something that Karolyn said. (By the way - congrats! You're doing so well!)

She mentioned that one of the things that was working for her was not telling everyone. I laughed out loud when I read that because I am the exact opposite! (Note: not laughing at - laughing at how obnoxious I am about my weight loss)

I'm curious how everyone else deals with it? Let me just tell you that EVERYONE knows in my life. Every person I come in contactr with, I tell. LOL At work, I have a sign that hangs up every Thursday with my progress. It notes the total loss/gain for the week and the total progress. I work at a Symphony - and it's so great - everyone is so supportive! People come by every Thursday to take a look at the sign and see how I'm doing.

I think I did this because I was always pretty quiet whenever I tried anything before - and I figured that I really wanted to do it this time - and I had to get myself the biggest support system around. Turns out it works for me.....I've lost 28.4 lbs in 16 weeks on Weight Watchers.

AND.....I've only had a gain on that sign twice - both times PMS/bloated weeks and then the gain came off plus some the next week. : )

Anyhow- how is everyone else? Karolyn works better keeping to herself, I work better being obnoxious. Anyone else? :smug:

Thalia 06-30-2001 12:45 AM

Hey All;

Thanks, Pam. I'm walking, doing some stretching, and some light weights.

Taunia;

2 Pounds? Great! Your poster sounds like something I'd do. I have told quite a few people that I'm on W.W., and it's nice that they're interested enough on Thursday's to ask how I did at weigh in. I also have a couple of friends that are also in W.W., so we support each other.

I'm completely boring tonight, so I'll sign off. Have a great weekend.

Jill

toad4mimi 07-01-2001 03:31 PM

Hey, Girls

Ok, Taunia, we sound very similar. There isn't a single person that I know that doesn't know I'm doing WW. I am a very open person, so there isn't too much that my friends and work associates don't know about me at all. So, when I joined WW, it was totally natural for me to blab. Also, the way I look at it is (this works for me, but I know not for everyone) the more people I tell, the more I really have to stick with it so I am not embarrassed. I have had a lot of support; however, one woman that I work with at first was really critical. After I had lost 20 pounds and was still saying that I thought it was pretty easy, she ended up joining!

Journaling has been a big key for me, too. A couple days last week I didn't journal and I could really tell a difference. I haven't gone to WI for this week yet, but I know that it wasn't the stellar performance that I had the week before! I consider that a lesson learned!

Hope everyone has a great Fourth of July!

Only 5 weeks until THE WEDDING! I am going to make my goal of 135 by THE WEDDING if it KILLS ME! :s:

Dinah196 07-01-2001 11:02 PM

Hello all! Just thought that I would wish everyone a Happy Canada Day today (I know that most of you are not Canucks but celebrate anyway!)... Weigh in on Saturday showed another 4 pounds! That's 8.5 so far! I know it will slow down soon but I am actually starting to feel the difference and it is great!

Hope everyones week is terrific! bye.

Wildfire 07-01-2001 11:52 PM

Hi again. Been kept extremely busy by life the last couple of weeks, but I'm back in the game! You are all doing so well! Great inspiration for me, thanks.

Taunia, you're gorgeous! Great pics!

Info:
Name: Wildfire
Age: 32 on August 7
Hometown: Oakville, Ontario
Occupation: Corporate Accountant
Status: Married to hubby #2 since Hallowe'en, 1998
Children: 1 daughter, will be 14 Aug 23
Hobbies: Cross stiching, Reading, sewing
Weight Loss Program: Weight Watchers
How long: 8 Weeks
Start weight: 184
Now weight: 178.6
Goal weight: 150
What's worked the most for you: It's not working yet. *L* Have to get committed first. I do know that journalling is key.

Ultimate reward when goal is reached: I want to be at goal this fall. If I can do that, I'm buying the sexiest dress I can find for our Christmas formal! Generally, though, I want to be comfortable with myself and not worry about how fat I look every time I go out in public.

Thalia 07-02-2001 02:42 PM

G'd Afternoon, Everyone!

It's so beautiful today that I can't bring myself to do anything but laze around enjoying the cool air and lovely breeze. I should be out walking, but I keep coming up with excuses. I'll do it later, I promise.

Dinah--4 pounds is terrific! Nice job.

Wildfire--Welcome Back.

Pam--6.5 pounds in 5 weeks? No sweat. You can do that, no problem.. I have confidence in you.

Anyone worried about pigging out on 4th of July? I'm working in the morning on Wednesday, but then I'm going to a picnic. The same picnic where last year the food was so astronomically delicious that I brought home doggy bag upon doggy bag to eat later. This year I'm bringing a healthy fruit tray, and I'm going to try REALLY hard to be "good".

Best of luck everyone.

Jill

Hi All!

Hi Everyone,

A tough week last week - time of the month and no regard to journaling. I guess my workouts paid off (it is the only thing I did right) and I registered a 1 pound loss. At least it wasn't a gain! I was soooo munchy last week plus work was a hassle and I am a stress eater by nature. I'll do better this week.

It's funny in the past I was always quiet about my weight loss attempts but this time I am much more open to telling people. I think that part of it is that before I guess I knew I would probably fail and now I am very determined...even at 1 pound a week.

Yesterday at the meeting most everyone had really high losses - close to 3 lbs or more - which didn't depress me but actually motivated me (another shocker). I daydreamed about what it will feel like to be in the 150's again. I really don't remember the last time I got on a scale and it wasn't in the upper 160's to 170's - I topped out at 182 ugh! The thought of getting on the scale and it saying 159 really motivated me.

Tomorrow will be a little hard. Picnic food is not all that good for you :) but I am always a bit self-conscious at neighborhood events becaue I am the largest woman there by far.

Good luck everyone! Have a great week!

Nica
