Toad- do I feel your pain! All last week I was ravenous! All I wanted to do was eat too. Of course, PMS probably has something to do with that. LOL

Thanks to everyone for the welcome and compliments. I appreciate it! :)

I've been on WW for 15 weeks now, and I've gained weight twice....both times on a PMS week. The first time I gained 3 and then immediately lost it the next week. This past week, I gained 1 lb....which I'm pretty sure I've already lost.

The thing is, I don't beat myself up about it - you can't fight mother nature - BUT, it's so frustrating to have to go back and forward two weeks out of the month. I feel like those two weeks set me back from losing. There's really nothing I can do about it.....but at least the gain is getting smaller.

It's so funny how some weeks I can be so content with eating and never crave anything and other weeks want to eat anything in front of me!

Well, anyhow....just thought I'd drop a note hello! How's everyone else doing?

P.S. - I've seen little "bios/profiles" about the members on other boards. Have we done that in the 30's board? I could do a little template. I'd be interested in learning more about everyone posting!

Cheers,
Taunia :p

Hello, all. Hope you all had a great weekend. Mine was really nice, familiy wise, but food well...... It was my daughter's ninth birthday yesterday, and we had the kids party Friday night. (made a commitment to my sister that I would stay away from the chips and junk, and made it. one small piece of cake that I calculated the points for) Just went over on points a bit, but went for a long walk both saturday and Sunday. Quite proud of myself for doing as well as I did.

I know what you mean about the food during TOM. My really bad time is when I am ovulating. My body and/or mind thinks it is free time. Really have to fight with myself to make the best choices during that time. Some months work better than others. One thing that I keep telling myself (I think I read it on the 3FC site quite awhile ago) is the second bite tastes the same as the first bite. A lot of time that helps.

Anyway, must get back to work. Have a great day and chat with everyone soon.

Food demons are gone!

Just thought I'd let everyone know that the FOOD DEMONS have decided to leave my home. Thank goodness!

Much better day today. . . Although . . .

I just had to go to the Doctor today due to my severe POISON IVY! I had to get the steroid shot and prescription to help it go away. Boy, have I been one itchy chic! The doc told me that I would probably put on a couple pounds this week due to the medicine, but it will come right back off when I finish the prescription. And Weigh In is tomorrow. . .:^:

Taunia -- love the idea about the bios. Why don't you start that, like you said. I would love to get to know more about everyone! So far, the only things I have shared is that I've been followed by the FOOD DEMON this week and the POISON IVY DEMON , too!

kikrs -- You are right . . . the second bite does taste the same! Those are now words to live by for me! Thanks!

Best of luck to all this week.

Hi there gang!

Hi there everyone!

I'm a new joiner (both to this site and to ww but not to the 30's). I started ww last Saturday and haven't been on a scale for about 3 years (since my son was born). I was appauled at the reading of 196.5. I knew I was overweight but had been hiding behind oversized t-shirts and pants - and avoiding the mirror for so long that I had no idea things had gotten this far out of hand. Anyhow, I'm looking forward to this new change of lifestyle and have big hopes to see a downward trend on the scale over the next weeks, months, whatever it takes.
Over the past 5 days I have banked 17 points but am afraid to use them on the foods I really love because I'm afraid it may trigger an eating frenzy that I won't be able to stop. Anyone else ever feel that way or do I need to spend some time on someones couch?
Anyhow folks, good luck, will check in in a few days to see what else is up.

Dinah

Caseyboo 06-21-2001 05:41 PM

Welcome Dinah!
You will find lots of support around here. As for not using your banked points that's fine, but I find that if I deny myself all the time of my fav foods, that sets me up to go into an eating frenzy!
 If you don't have points left over for the day for that special treat then use a few of those banked points.:)
Good luck!

toad4mimi 06-21-2001 06:16 PM

Hello, Dinah!

Welcome, Dinah.

I know how you feel about those banked points. I decided when I joined WW that I was not going to use my banked points at all for the first four weeks. I, like you, was afraid that an eating frenzy would ensue. Once I had gone four weeks and felt I had a grasp on the "points counting" and all of that, I allowed myself to use banked points on a favorite food.

During that "one awful week a month" I do not allow myself to use any banked points, and I also make myself stay at the lowest end of my points range. That said, it isn't easy and it hasn't always worked, but it is a strategy at least.

When I feel I am at my weakest, hunger-wise, is when I try to be the most stringent with myself. Kinda like allowing myself one bite will open the Food Floodgates!:^:

Best of luck to you! (And to all the 30 Somethings!):D

kikrs: Shared your "Second Bite Theory" at work with the girls I joined WW with. We now have it posted in our break room!

Taunia: Waiting for the Bios template. I think that would be really cool. Whenever you are ready, I'll follow suit!

Take care, Everyone.

kikrs 06-21-2001 06:34 PM

Well, I had my weigh in last night and lo and behold, I was down 1.8 pounds. At best I thought that I would maintain. So that was a pleasant suprise.

Something that I have been doing is going to the local farm for produce on my way to WW and getting all my fruit and vegies for the week. That way even if I don't have a great weigh in, I can get right back on track, because I already have the produce, and I find the prices are still expensive, so I can't let bear to let it go to waste.

I had my daughter home today from school with a fever and cough. Kind of throws my day off ( I work from home), but that should get me used to all three being home next week for the summer. I find I am better when they are not home. IE- Tend to nibble more when I am getting afternoon snacks together for them. Bad time of the day anyway, and it seems like I don't always have the time to make the proper choices.

Anyway, will chat with you all soon.

K

Hi All!

Sorry I haven't replied since my original posting--I was suffering from post-Sixers letdown. I'm over it, though, and I'm so glad to see that this group is starting to take off. Thanks for the welcome and encouragement, especially you, Taunia. I can't wait for you to reach your goal and dance the night away. How can a 30th birthday be yuck if it's celebrated in such an incredible way:)

I weighed in last night. It's been a month since my first WW meeting and I've lost 13.2 pounds. I had a rude awakening last night when I finally realized that I was looking at more of a four-year journey than a two-year, but I'm trying to focus on everything but the thought of that final goal so far away. Sigh . . .

I don't know about you guys, but where I am it's been deathly hot and humid the last few days. At my size, I've always had a lot of trouble with the heat. This year, however, I'm finding it easier to cope. It's because of all the water I'm forcing myself to drink. See, it really does pay off, even if I can hear myself slosh when I walk:)

Well, gotta go grocery shop and fill the fridge with lots of healthy stuff. Yum. If I say it enough times, maybe I'll start to believe that I WANT the healthy stuff. Really. I'm serious. Honest . . .

The Bios idea is great--let's do it!

Maybe I scared everyone away with that picture? LOL I smile, I swear. Ok..here's one I just took today - smiling and inviting....so come on y'all, post your pics and bios!!

Thalia 06-23-2001 02:13 PM

Taunia-

Nah, your pic isn't scary at all, although I do like the smiling one better:)

Name: Jill (User Name: Thalia)
Age: 29 (Turning 30 on 9/16)
Hometown: Wayne, PA
Occupation: Office Co-Ordinator, although I'm contemplating Grad School and looking for something actually pertaining to my degree (English Lit.)
Status: Single
Children: None
Hobbies: Reading, writing, cross-stitch, cooking--all really active and lively pursuits, eh?
Weight-Loss Program: Weight Watchers
How Long: On this coming Wednesday it will be one month
Start Weight: 358.8
Now Weigh: 345.6
Goal Weight: 135-140--who knows? I've never been even remotely thin as an adult, so I really have no idea where I'll feel most comfortable.
What's worked best for me: Not quite sure yet. Definitely water, but otherwise I haven't been able to establish a pattern yet. Week 1 I lost 7 pounds, Week 2 I lost 1.8, and Week 3 I lost 4.4. I did pretty much the same thing each week, but I haven't really sat down and studied my journals yet to try and figure out if there were subtle differences that ended up mattering significantly. I will say, however, that NOTHING goes into my mouth that doesn't get written down. NOTHING!
Ultimate Rewards: Actually being happy with my body, not being an object of public ridicule, and being able to shop for clothes anywhere I want. There are so many more, but those are the biggies.

Everyone's been quiet the last couple of days. Everybody doin' okay?

Enjoy the rest of your weekend,

Jill

Love the bios! This is sooo cool to really "meet" everyone on this thread.

Thalia 06-25-2001 08:50 PM

Dinah, Pam, great to learn more about you. I don't really have much to say tonight, but I have the nibbles and I'm trying to distract myself. I also wanted to acknowledge your bios. I'll post again after Wednesday night's W.I.

See Ya,

Jill

Just Checkin In!

Hi, All.

Just checking to see if there are any more Bios to read. My husband tells me all the time that I am going to make a great "Nosy Old Woman". I think that is because I am always checking for new posts, so someone better post some more so I can at least be validated!

Hello Jill, Taunia, and Dinah: Hope your week is going great.

Last week I had a great week (-4.5 pounds) although I feel like I am struggling this week, and also feeling that PMS bloating. Yuck. I am praying for maintaining this week. . . I don't even need a loss to feel successful this time around.

I usually have three weeks of loss followed by one week of gain (TOM, of course). I try to drink tons of water during that "one week", but not sure that it makes much difference. I have found, though, that over the last several weeks I am not craving chocolate quite as much. . . who would have ever thought that would happen! Anyone else finding this to be true?

My brother-in-law (Husband's brother) is getting married in 6 weeks to a size 0. We are not the best of friends and once she even told my other brother-in-law that I had a big booty. (Only she wasn't that polite). I can't tell you how great it feels to be going to their wedding already 23 pounds lighter than when I started this adventure! I hope to lose 7 more pounds at least by their wedding. I'm sure I'll be able to -- still very motivated to make it happen!

I find myself rambling again . . . Sorry, you guys, get me started on the little bride and I could go on for days!

Have a great week!
