2005 New Year's Resolutions

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to list my New Year's Resolutions here so I can come back and get a reality check once in a while and keep myself on track.

1) Love myself and know I matter and I have to take care and be good to myself and then I can help others.

2) Understand that saying NO is not a bad thing.

3) Rejoin WW

4) Post at 3FC every week!!!

5) Exercise of some kind-even if it's parking in the space furthest from the building and walking.

6) Work on being debt free. My grandfather said if you don't have the money to buy it you don't need it. If you want something bad enough save up and then buy it. He was soooo right! Why didn't I listen :dizzy:

Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Setina

Effenbee 12-28-2004 12:40 PM

Happy New Year to you too as well as all the NightOwls!

Love,
Freddie

Effenbee 12-28-2004 03:30 PM

I like your New Year's resolution about posting once a week. I will try to do that too, but I usually try not to make resolutions -- especially about how much weight I will lose -- because I end up not keeping them.

Love,
Freddie

Watermelon 12-28-2004 06:03 PM

Hi Freddie,

I know what you mean. I am not setting number goals. I just made a resolution to rejoin WW and I am going to take it one pound at a time!

Have a great evening!

Hi all! I figured that I would join you ladies and gents in the WW night owl area since I am looking for support and all. My New Year's resolution is to lose 5-10 pounds a month until I hit my goal. I have 104 pounds to lose. I hope to get it done all this year, but only time will tell.

Thanks for listening.
Kimberly

Effenbee 01-02-2005 06:15 AM

Hi Kimberly:

Do it while you are young!!! I am 81 and have been on diets since I was in my twenties. It was easy then but got harder as I got older.

Freddie

Watermelon 01-02-2005 11:59 AM

Hi Kimberly and Welcome!!!!

Sounds like you have a plan. I have over 100 to loose as well and I decided I just have to take it one pound at a time.

Freddie-I know what you mean. I am 38 and I want to be thin before I am 40. I did not realize you were 81 years young! You go girl! You are amazing.

Ok, other owls, where did you go?

Hope everyone has a great day!

Thank you Setina and Freddie for the well wishing. I have eaten within my point range for day one. I am feeling very overwhelmed though because I have so much weight to lose. But I am going to try and take it hour by hour and day by day. Best of luck to everyone. Thanks again :D

shadow 01-02-2005 11:30 PM

I need your help...I want to join WW Online. I belonged to it in the mid 80's and did quite well, but I turned around and somebody hit me with a fat stick!! I am sick of this weight and am ready to peal it off!!! May I hang out with y'all?? :coffee:

Watermelon 01-03-2005 06:06 PM

Hi Owls,

Kimberly-You can do it and you will do it! Just take it one pound at a time. I have a lot more than you to loose and I did it once and gained it back (I lost 130 pounds). I know it can be done and I learned a lot of hard lessons that I think will make me successful this time.

Shadow-Welcome! I got hit with that same fat stick! We would love to have you hang out.

I have still been fighting the yuck. My throat is finally feeling a little better and I am tired of bed rest. I am hoping tomorrow I will feel like putting all of my holiday decorations away.

Hope you have a great evening and keep posting! Let's get the own nest rocking again!!!

Hugs
Setina

Quote from interview with Kirstie Alley/People December 6th, 2004:

What have you learned from this whole experience? I've learned a couple of things; the most important thing is you can either create a beautiful life or you can be a victim. Here I am, I sort of stumbled into being fat. I'm not saying I'm totally responsible, but I sort of wasn't paying attention. I can either be the victim of being fat, or I can say, "Okay, so you're fat, what are you going to do? I just thought you don't stop living, you keep living and create with what you've got. I created myself into this fat thing, I'll create myself out of it."

EMTChic 01-03-2005 07:41 PM

Setina-Thanks for your words of encouragement. I am down to 273 already. I wish you the best of luck in your weight loss journey. Look forward to getting to know all of you :smug:

Watermelon 01-03-2005 10:27 PM

Kimberly-You are doing terrific! I look forward to knowing you better as well and we will see that scale keep on moving down together. I wanted to join WW on 1/1 but of course they were closed. I have this one place I will only go unless I am traveling so I am going this Saturday morning to rejoin.

Just a little history for the new owls....Night Owls started close to when 3FC started if I am not mistaken. A few others and myself used to post on the WW board and we liked this one better. Unfortunatly, many of us have "flown the coop" lately, me included so I am glad we have some new OWLS and maybe the old ones will come back soon.

I am feeling lots better tonight. My throat is not as sore.

Candace, I thougth of you today, I made my hubby some cookies. By the way where are you? Candace has been the one to keep us going!!!!

Bren, PJ, Emmy, Elaine and all you other oldies come out and play!!!

I hope you all have a great evening!

shadow 01-04-2005 12:03 AM

EMTChic 01-04-2005 12:34 AM

Setina-Thanks for all the encouragement and the history of the night owls:)

Watermelon 01-04-2005 10:44 AM

Hi Shadow-Yeah on joining WW on line!

Kimberly-You are very welcome!

I can't wait until Saturday. I am so ready to rejoin WW. I think I am going to try the CORE plan this time and see how I do with that. Are either of you doing the CORE? Since we moved I can't find my old "after" pictures. I wanted to put those up to remind me that I can be there again soon if I just stick with it. I am finally feeling human again so today is clean up day.

Hope you all have a great day!

Setina

shadow 01-04-2005 07:03 PM

Today has been kinda rough...withdrawing from Coca Cola, usual breakfast of grilled ( in butter) cheese and a side order of bacon (3) I usually get this breakfast at work (I work in the hospital.) It's the only decent meal they make...LOL I don't know if they will cook it up special WW style for me or not.
Haven't even had supper yet. I think my body is mad at me. It will get better.
http://www.3fatchicks.com/weight-tra...b/196/146/196/

EMTChic 01-04-2005 09:57 PM

Setina-I am on the WW points system. Sorry I can't help you out on the Core. But there has to be someone that can. Best of luck to you!

276/272/170

Watermelon 01-04-2005 10:21 PM

Shadow-Ask and they may suprise you and fix your breakfast by special request. My cafe does. I go in and they say "the usual?". I love my Coca-Cola. I switched over to Dt Cherry Coke and I love it! You may want to try the Coca-Cola C2 while you try to transition to a Dt drink if you can't just go cold turkey. I like the C2 as well. I know when I tried to cut off all caffeine I got really sick and major headaches.

Kimberly-Thanks! I am used to the points system. I may just stick with what I know and what I am comfortable with for now and learn more about the Core as I go.

Hope you all have a great evening and Happy Wednesday!
Setina

shadow 01-07-2005 05:51 PM

I'm doing the Flex plan. I thought it had more variety and I don't mind keeping up with the points. I got through the coca cola withdrawal :) I feel human again!!

Watermelon 01-10-2005 08:16 PM

Hi Shadow,

I don't mind tracking the points either so that is the way I am going too. Glad you got through your Coca-Cola withdrawals!!! I have to have my Dt Cherry Coke!

I have had some kind of bug and a migraine so I was MIA for a few days. I joined WW Sat but I was so sick I didn't even look at the book to see how much I weighed and I think it's in my husbands Xterra.

I am thinking about having a yard sale at my mom's this weekend. I want to get rid of some old clothes and get some space back and I can use the money to pay on some bills.

Well, better run for now.

Hugs
Setina

EMTChic 01-11-2005 03:02 AM

Setina,
I hope that you feel better soon.
Kimberly

Watermelon 01-11-2005 08:58 AM

Kimberly,

Thanks! Your well wishes must have worked. I am feeling lots better today! Hope you have a great day!

Setina

EMTChic 01-12-2005 01:37 AM

Setina,
I am glad that you are starting to feel better:) I had a rough Tuesday. It was the first day I was not on point and I went wayyyyyyyy over. But I am determined to be OP on Wednesday and all the other days. I feel so icky from pigging out. Live and Learn.
Kimberly

Watermelon 01-12-2005 03:56 PM

Hi Kimberly,

Thanks!!! Sorry you had a rough Tuesday and hope today is going better. I know the Live and Learn part all too well. You have the right attitude though and that's what is important. You know we are not perfect and their will be "those" days and we just have to learn not to beat ourselves up and the next day or next meal even yet we can get back OP. When I lost so much weight before I was "perfect" on plan, well, I learned that's not a good thing because nobody's perfect and you just have to accept that and get back on track.

Have a fantastic day!!!

Shadow and Kimberly-Come on over to the #63 thread. Some of the old owls have flown back in and we can get the nest rocking again!!!!!!!

Hugs-
Setina

EMTChic 01-13-2005 01:23 AM

Setina,
Thank you for your kind words. Much appreciated. Wednesday I was back on track and OP. Hope to continue doing well.
Kimberly

Effenbee 02-02-2005 11:37 PM

Well here we are and it's February now and I said I would try to write a message once per week. New Year's resolution broken already. Where is Elaine -the original Nightowl with the word Nightowl (if I remember correctly) in her email address. And PJ, write to me!!!! Hi Brenda, is your daughter still in Virginia? Hi Setina. Hi Candice. Does anyone ever hear from Judygal?

Freddie

Effenbee 02-07-2005 11:25 AM

Hi Old and New Night Owls:

I have to be on a low potassium diet. Doctors office phoned me a few days ago to tell me my potassium was too high. She (doctor's office) told me not to eat banana, orange juice, and I can't remember what else. She didn't tell me to quit using my No-Salt, which is made of potassium. I quit! I bought some food that I found on the internet was low in potassium -- blueberries, plums, fresh pineapple but it seems as though meat, chicken, and fish are not low potassium.

I have to go meet my Red Hat Society women at the movies today. We are to see "The Aviator". See you later.

Love,
Freddie

Effenbee 02-11-2005 10:31 PM

Hi Night Owls:

Isn't anybody else going to post. The 3fatchicks now have a posting contest in order to win a free diet book. One has to post 5 times in one week to have their name put in the contest. Here goes post # 1 for this week if it is Saturday. I don't understand the 3fatchick's time keeper so I don't know if it is Friday or Saturday. The contest runs each week from Saturday to Friday. I just read about it.

Love,
Freddie

Effenbee 02-16-2005 05:14 PM

Hey Setina:

You said that you would try to post once a week, Are you doing that? Today is Feb. 16th. I may surpass you since I decided to try to get in the contest for winning a diet book.

Freddie

Effenbee 03-20-2005 11:42 PM

Hi Night Owls:

Maybe I will post once a month. It is now almost (since it is 11:41 pm) March 20, 2005. Come on post Night Owls!

Freddie

Effenbee 03-24-2005 02:22 PM

Hi Night Owls:

When are you going to get on your computer and come to this page?

Freddie

Effenbee 03-25-2005 11:06 AM

Come out! Come out! Where are you?

Freddie

Effenbee 03-25-2005 12:39 PM

Years ago, I would get on the NightOwl site and someone would always be there.

Freddie

Effenbee 03-25-2005 12:40 PM

So, Setina, where are you to bring your name up to the top?

Freddie

Effenbee 07-21-2005 11:41 PM

Hi Setina:

Haven't heard from you in a while (and we were going to write once a week; doesn't take long to break a resolution). I have lost all my old phone numbers and email addresses.

Love,
Freddie
