Thursday Chatters for August

Hi All,
We have a great group here. Please come join in the conversation! :):):)

Can you believe it's August! I don't want my summer to go so fast. It's my favorite time of the year. I know, it's hot and humid where I live but it's wonderful.....I don't like cold and wet and cold (did I mention cold ).
Let's all try exercising more this month. And, let's drink more water and decaf drinks.

Anyone have a goal for the month? Please share.
Tina

Tina 08-01-2004 04:39 PM

Sis, I hope you don't mind that I pulled this off the old thread and put it on the new one. :)
Hey all. Hope everyone is doing well. Tammy I am so happy that you didn't get diagnosed with MS. Just the thought must have been so scary! I have a friend who has been diagnosed with it. She has her good days and her bad days. We can only hope that it takes a VERY long time to progress. They told her someday she would probably be in a wheelchair. But we have faith and God works maricles. Hope they clear up that awful sinus infection for you.
Tina hope your grilling night went well and you all had fun. I love to grill.
I am still trying to keep my butt OP. Not doing all that great yet but I won't give up.
Hope everyone has a great week coming up. Take care......Sis

I finally got my bedroom painted, tomorrow I will move my stuff back into my room.
Saturday I will be driving back to Detroit to pick up Dan, I really missed him. Not too much else going on, take care all.
Mimi

auntie 08-05-2004 10:15 PM

Hi ya'll,

Just a quick note to say hi. The baby is hanging in there. On Saturday, he will be 4 weeks old. We still don't know how much he has gained due to all of the swelling. Last weight we had on him was 1 pound 9 ounces. Please keep him in your prayers. We still have a long road ahead of us.

I'm off to bed and hopefully I'll get some sleep. I wake up and go to the hopsital. My entire world is in his little isolette.

Hello

Hello,

I just wanted to report in, returning after several years absence. I haven't sorted out specific goals yet, I just need to get going on weight loss. It will take 4-5 months I think to get where I am comfortable and can fit into my old clothes.

I am on a sort-of weight watchers plan, haven't officially rejoined them (yet, any way). I noticed from other messages here that there is a new WW plan, anyone have anything to say about it yet? I was last in WW in 2002.

Today I will be doing at least 10 minutes exercise and journaling what I eat. I have an 'exercise accountability buddy' lined up (I am SO grateful to her).

Well - It's a start. Hope to meet you all though these messages as time goes on.

Love to all!

Tina 08-06-2004 11:03 AM

Welcome

It's Saturday

Happy Saturday,
We all hope Susan and family are doing well. :) Our prayers are still with Seamus.
Tammy , I hope you had a blast at Band Camp and come home in one piece.
Mimi , I hope you and Dan have a safe trip coming home from Detroit. Did you eat anything yummy while there? :)
Sis and Maureen, how are things?
Easter Goal, you are an inspiration, doing your exercises.

We have 4 new members on the weigh-in thread----Lea, Jamie, Sarahjene, and Brittles. Let's all make them feel welcome.
It's actually a little cooler here this weekend. I might get out in the yard and expend some calories.

Sis 08-07-2004 09:51 AM

Well guys, according to my scales this morning I am down about 5 lbs of the approx. 12 lbs I gained a little before, during and after my surgery!! It makes me feel MUCH better to have a handle on things again. I was beginning to wonder if I had lost my strength to do this. I have also been drinking my water which makes me feel better too. Why is it we know something makes us feel better yet we don't do it even when its so easy???
Susan, my prayers are definately with all of you and yours. Take care of yourself.
Welcome Eastergoal. YOU CAN DO IT.
Welcome all new people. This is a great bunch of people here.
Hope everyone has a WONDERFUL week end.....Sis :D

NewMeToBe 08-07-2004 09:58 AM

Hi Everyone! Thought I would join in here since I joined in on the weight in thread. A little about me I guess is that Im single, 27, I have two children, and right now I spend my days with my gram who has end stage brain cancer. I have been taking care of her for two years and went through a very bad depression for about six months and gained alot of weight, I am getting past that now thanks to a few good friends and really wanting to get back in shape and start exercising regularly again.

My goal this month I guess would be to walk as much as possible while summer is here and its nice and warm.

My non wieght loss goal is to find a part time job in evenings to save up for a real estate class I want to take and to give me some extra spending money to buy all them new clothes I will need:)

Thanks for reading!

auntie 08-07-2004 10:48 AM

Welcome to Our Group!!! I have to say we are an AWESOME group. We are extremely close as I'm sure you will find out.

Thank you for all of the prayers. We really appreciate them. Yesterday was a good day for Seamus. Hopefully today will be too. I'm ready for some boring days where he just grows some. The doctor told me yesterday that if he wasn't swollen he would be 2 pounds and 6 oz.

I'll try to write more tonight after I go see my little guy.

Susan

Tammy 08-07-2004 07:32 PM

Hi gang!!!! Home from band camp. I am totally pooed out, but it was so much fun (as usual!!). I can't believe that next year will be my last year to chaperone since Tim will be a senior. Maybe I could just become a permanent chaperone for the band. lol

Welcome to all of the new people!!! Awesome group here, and we're glad to have you with us.

Susan, hang in there!!!! Boring days will be good for you. Tell Seamus that all of his aunts here on the board love him. We kind of like his parents too!!

auntie 08-08-2004 08:47 PM

Guess what!!!!

I got to hold Séamus yesterday for the first time. He was 4 weeks old too. It was a great day. Got to hold him again today and to top it off they were going to try giving him 1 cc of breast milk every 6 hours to see how he does. I'll pass the message along to him from hi aunts. :)

Tammy, I'm sure the band would love for you to be a permanent chaperone. :)

Susan

Tina 08-08-2004 09:30 PM

Good evening all,
I hope everyone has had a great weekend.
Susan , that is so great you getting to hold Seamus. Give him our love.
Tina

EasterGoal 08-10-2004 10:30 AM

Tuesday's a great day!

Hello again,

I've been away from the PC and just catching up on the posts since Friday. Thanks Sis and Tina for your welcome and encouragement, Jamie you are an inspiration really, thanks so much for sharing about your plans. Susan, what a wonderful report about holding Séamus.

My progress has been mostly through starting to journal and seeing how 'out of control' I am eating wrong things or too much food that I just should not. It's a step. My 'workout' this weekend consisted of a lot of heavy slogging of boxes of books and other things and up/down stairs, doing some long needed cleanout of the basement. Not quite a formal exercise program, but also a start.

Thankfully, today is a new day and a new start. Does anyone know where a food listing with WW points is freely available on the web? I know about Dottie's site, but was hoping for something that allows me to search just by food name. I seem to have lost my handy reference book, although many of the point values seem to be permanently imprinted on my brain!

Keep up the good work and drink your water! :)

Mimi4fun 08-12-2004 10:59 PM

Welcome to all the new ladies. :coffee:

Susan; I am so glad that you finally got to hold your little Seamus, we are all cheering for him.
I have been busy painting and painting, bedroom is all done, now I am starting on the trim. Dan had a great time in Nebraska but was glad to get home to his own bed. Man that trip is a long one though, close to 24 hours of driving.
Tina; The wednesday leader is great, I am glad that I switched, thanks for all your encouragment.
Tammy; I'm glad you had a good time at band camp hey you never know maybe Tim will be in the band at college, they really need a chaperone then... ;)

EasterGoal 08-13-2004 09:28 AM

Hi everyone,

Mimi, thanks for the welcome, sounds like you are getting lots of work done, good exericse too, that's great.

What's everyone doing for the weekend? Looks like it will be another nice weekend here - my husband is speaking on Sunday some miles away so we will be able to have a nice scenic Sunday drive. Other than that, no special plans here - just working at staying OP and the treadmill.

Love to all!

auntie 08-13-2004 02:09 PM

Hi everyone,

Just a quick note to let you know that Seamus has a staff infection. He is pretty sick. Please keep him in your prayers.

I'll keep you posted.

Susan

Tammy 08-13-2004 09:31 PM

Susan, you and your family continue to be in our prayers.

Stacey135 08-16-2004 12:21 PM

I have come back!!!!!!

:D I have been on WW before and I would come here to chat. I have returned.
I fell off the WWW back in October.....OMG its almost a year. My goal is to reach 135,(could you tell by my user name) but 145 will do.... I had lost almost 50....then kaboom :stress: it went up in :flame: So to speak. lol
My current weight is 196,so that means I have 50 or 60 pounds to go. i gained back about 25 of what I lost. At least I didn't gain it all back. :D
I have a WW scale that I bought. It tells me that my target is 19 or so.
Let me start there..... :)
I would really love to come back and chat.
Are weekly WIs still on Thursday? When do you think is the best time of the day to weigh?
SW 196/CW196/GW135or145
Thanks for letting me chat...... Stacey

Tina 08-16-2004 12:25 PM

Stacey, Welcome back!!! :twirly: :cb: :cp:
We are sooooooo glad to "see" you here again. I had wondered what happened and have missed you terribly.
Yes, we still have the Thursday Weigh-In Thread.
I like to weigh in the mornings. It's a good start to my day. If the number is up, I have the whole day to work on it.
There are some new members on the threads that you'll want to meet.
Please stay with us.
Tina
:flow1:

Tammy 08-16-2004 09:19 PM

Welcome Back!!
I weigh in the morning also. In fact, I've been bad and have been weighing every morning. I'm obsessed.

Tina 08-19-2004 10:24 AM

How is everyone doing today? Okay, I want to hear from all you who just "read" and don't post!!!!! :)

I was cruising through some of the other forums and saw a post about something new at WW. It's "out of the bag" next week. It's something about not using points, just certain foods.
It was posted on the "At Home" forum. Y'all can go there and read.
I haven't been to a meeting in ages but plan on going next week to get the new material.

Good luck today. Stay OP and drink water.
:flow1:

Stacey135 08-19-2004 04:15 PM

I am doing great this week but forgot to weigh inthis morning.....Sticking to points though......I was wondering about the new program. I was going to ask the other girls at work that still go to the meetings...but they are on vacation or have been working my off days... I am interested.....Might be a great jumpstart.....Everyone have a have a great week..Stacey

auntie 08-20-2004 09:09 AM

Hi Guys,

Just a quick note to say "hi" and I miss you bunches. So far the baby has had a great week. They found out his thyroid levels were a little low this week so he is on medicine for that, they think it could be a result of the infection last week. Seamus will be 6 weeks old on Saturday.

My sister was telling me about the new program. I'm anxious to see what it is. I kind of like the idea of not counting points. I wonder if it goes back to counting exchanges or something like that. I've been released from the doctor to go back so I plan on going next week.

Talk to you soon.

Susan

Mimi4fun 08-20-2004 10:24 AM

I think the rumours about the points might be true, but I will get on here next week as soon as I know and give everyone the scoop. They were selling off all the calculators and the 12 week diaries this past week, so thats what makes me think the points might be gone.
Susan I am so glad that Seamus is doing better, he sure has a lot of people praying for him.

Tina 08-20-2004 10:39 AM

How time flies.
Susan, I can't believe Seamus will be 6 weeks old! That's fantastic.
Like Tammy says, all his "aunts" are praying for him----and you & Pat.

Mimi, if they're selling off stuff, the points system must be going out the window.

Tammy, you'd better rest up - not only for teaching but for all your extra activities.

Sis, you've been awfully quiet.

How is everyone else doing?????????????

My Smokey (kitty) has been awfully sick. He gets a sonogram of his heart on Tuesday. They say his hyperthyroidism has given him a heart condition. I was a basket case yesterday. Both of us are doing okay today. :)
Tina

auntie 08-20-2004 09:50 PM

Hi,
Well Little Seamus got 1 cc of breast milk again today. They are going to feed him through his tube 1cc every 3 hours. I'm a little nervous since he got sick the last time he had it.

Tina, Sorry Smokey is sick. What were the results of the sonogram?

Tammy, how is school? And that crazy principal? :)

Mimi, Thanks for the prayers

Stacey, Keep up the good work!

I think they are keeping the points system as well. I got a flier in the mail and it showed the points system too. I'm going to try to go back next week myself. I also have the ok to start exercising again so I'll try to get back to Curves too. I think it will do me some good to get back to exercising.

Have a good weekend.
Susan

Sis 08-21-2004 09:02 AM

Hi all. I'm here. Just working and not online as much. I was on vacation all last week up north. Man did I blow it. :( I put back on what I had lost. Oh well, I'm back OP now and am going to try to do better.
Susan, you, baby and your family are still in my prayers. I am so glad he had a good week.
Hope everyone else is having a good week. Not too much going on here. Just looking forward to the week end. Have a great day all.....Sis :D

Tammy 08-21-2004 06:06 PM

Our school starts Aug. 30. Teachers start Aug. 26. I've seen the principal a couple times, and yes, he has already made some stupid mistakes. I got that info from some other teachers. Why is he still there?????

I worked the fair tent today. I'm totally pooed again. I won't be working there tomorrow, so I'm hoping to just rest all day. Or maybe go shopping for some pants for school. All my others are too big. (I'm smiling!)

Tina, I hope Smokey is feeling better.

Susan, how is Seamus taking to the milk?

Sis, good for you for getting back OP. It's hard to stay on it when you are on vacation. (or at the fair!!!)

auntie 08-21-2004 09:34 PM

Hi,

Sis, it's good to hear from you. Make sure that you have some fun while you are working so much. We miss you.

Tammy, I'm not sure why that guy still has a job!!!! How many more years do you have? I know you are counting! :)

Seamus took the milk great! They upped his feedings to 2 cc's every 3 hours and if he does well with it, it will increase to 3 cc's tomorrow. It's through a tube and I got to hold it today. He had a spinal tap last night since he has been sick. The preliminary results came back clear. Thank goodness!!! They are going to wean his steriods over the next 9 days. Hopefully he will stay healthy and have not problems from them. His ventilator settings are coming down some too. We have a ways to go with that but at least it's a start. I'll be glad when he is off of it all together.

Susan

Tina 08-22-2004 11:42 PM

Susan, That's great news about Seamus.
For some reason, I didn't get notified of your post. I would've responded sooner.
My kitty is feeling some better. However, they are going to do a sonogram of his little heart to see how much damage the hyperthyroidism did. He still has his heart murmur. I don't like taking him to a different animal hospital and leaving him for the test.

Everyone have a great Monday.
Tina
:flow1:

EasterGoal 08-24-2004 10:19 AM

Hi everyone, Happy Tuesday!

Susan, how wonderful to hear about Seamus' improvement. Our prayers continue for you and the family.

Tina, best wishes for the test today. I hope everything will turn out just fine.

Welcome to all newcomers!

I'm managing to keep up with the exercise but so far no movement on the lbs. this week. I'm been using the Weight Commander software to track progress, anyone else use it and find it useful?

Sis 08-25-2004 03:51 PM

Thats wonderful about Seamus, Susan! He and you all will continue to be in my prayers.
Glad you're kitty is doing ok also Tina. I love cats too. :)
Hope everyone is doing great here. Hey, we're halfway thru the work week. That's a plus.
Have a wonderful day and rest of the week....Sis :D

Mimi4fun 08-25-2004 09:01 PM

Hi everybody: I am glad to see that everyone is doing good.
Yesterday I went to the meeting to get the scoop on the new program.
The points part is basically the same, except the flex points are now called an allowance.
The core plan is fruits and vegetables, lean meats, skim milk (&products) and whole grains (no bread). Any thing else is allowance points. It is a very good diet if you can eat this way, but I don't think its an easy one if you like to do the drive through, or are a bread eater.
I'm going to stick with my points, they are working good for me.
They are distributing new materials for the next 12 weeks, and have redisigned the Quick trak booklet, and that is much improved.
I am guessing that for the next 12 weeks we will be going throught the booklets so that will be good for me.
Susan I am so happy for you and seamus. It is wonderful news.

Tina 08-25-2004 10:36 PM

Hi All,
Susan--you and Pat and Seamus are continually in our prayers.

We got good news about our cat. His heart is fine. It's funny that he had an ultrasound just like humans. At least, it didn't cost as much.
Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts. He just needs to continue taking medicine for his hyperthyroidism.

I tried the Core Program today. I like the Points better.

Good luck at weigh-in tomorrow.
:flow1:

LoserLisa 08-26-2004 01:40 PM

Hi all! Weight is down two pounds to 162! Yay!

Tina 08-26-2004 04:00 PM

Lisa,
That's fantastic!!!!! :bravo:

tina

Tina 08-26-2004 09:49 PM

How was everyone's Thursday?????
I went the whole day without a caffeinated drink. I had 2 cf diet Cokes.
And, I ate Core Program foods today. It was pretty easy. I don't know how I'll do every day. You have to count extra points for breads. Booooo For pastas, you have to use whole grains. Those are hard to find in my grocery stores.

I hope I've lost some water retention today. I'll let y'all know.

How is everyone doing?
Tina

Tina 08-27-2004 09:02 PM

Happy Friday night!!! :):):)
I've been solidly on the Core Program for two days now and I'm liking it.

Mimi, how are you doing???? I understand that using the Points is more of a structure. That's what my husband likes. He wouldn't do well having to stop when he was satisfied.
How are your sons?

Tammy, are you ready for school? Do you have anything going on this weekend? How is Tim? Will he stop working when school starts?

Sis, are you feeling good now? I know you must be tired with all your working? Is your daughter ready to return to school to see her friends?

Maureen, we haven't heard from you in some time.

Lisa, EasterGoal, Stacey, Sarah, I wish y'all would post this weekend.
