Default Fabulous 40's and Fit 50's #159

Morning everyone! I thought it was time for a new thread.

Terri - How is that cook book? All I know is that after my FIL goes home, I definately have to get my butt in gear and seriously start counting my points again!

DH needs the puter.....see you in a few!!!!!!!!!!

Ok...I'm back. DH wanted to check something out on HSN.com!!

Es - sorry to hear your is coming back so soon. It's been weird, but my has almost, and I repeat almost been decent!! Ever since I told him about my surgery in August he's "mellowed" alot. Let's see how long that will last!

Jen - How are you holding up? Hang in there honey; has the weather subsided any?

Dianne - I thought about you and your saying when it comes to food as I was eating my black beans and rice along side of "chulettas" this week! OMG.....when I get on that scale...... Oh well....I'll just start again!

Well let me get going here; I'm taking a rest since my "hip" decided to act up this morning. Sure...when I have to go to work I'm fine. On this beauty of a day I'm in pain!! This too shall pass...

Hi to everyone and have a Great Weekend and a safe one!! Hugs....

Good morning..

Hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend

Terri, that recipe sounds good. Would you share it? Where did you get the book, at WW?

Linda, doesn't it figure, the hip acting up on your days off? Only a couple of months to go, you'll never regret having that surgery.

We're having a rainy weekend, which is fairly typical for Memorial Day. Seems as though everyone can't wait to kick off their summer, and it always rains. This year we opened the pool early, normally we do it this weekend. It didn't do us any good, however, as it hasn't been warm enough to use it! I absolutely cannot wait till we get some HOT weather.

have a great day,
~Jen

Talking

Hi Girls

It's been a very quiet weekend. Lots of people went away. Even the traffic is light. The weather has been nice. Jen, I like cool weather but then again if I had a pool I would feel the same way you're feeling.

Linda, I hope the pain in your hip went away. You don't have pain medication? So you had chulettas huh. Let's set a goal. Let's stay on program 24/7 starting June 1st for a whole month. We can do it.

My goal is going to be to journal every bite & exercise at least 3x a week. I slacked off alot with my exercise. Not good.

Well, ladies, enjoy Memorial Day.

Luv u's,
Es

Linda and Jen,
The winners circle cookbook is from WW. I will try to cook 1 recipe a week.
I will post the recipe tomorrow. I hope the weather gets hotter for you Jen.
Enjoy that pool.

I am glad your is a bit better. I also hope your hip feels better.

Es,
Good luck with your new goals. I know you can do it.

We saw the Liberty Bell 7 exhibit at the Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville. That is the capsule that the Discovery channel is sponsoring. It is the capsule
that Guss Grissom lost in 1961. The hatch blew early and it laid on the Ocean floor until 1999. The crew that found the Titanic recovered it. It was surreal seeing it. Grissom die 2 yrs. later in the Apollo 1 Fire.

TTYL,
Terri

Es,
You're motivated, and it's just what I needed to hear this morning! I'm going to start tomorrow, June 1st is a good date. I'm going to do WW with as little points used for carbs as possible. The SB program sounds like a good idea, but counting points is ingrained in my brain now. I'm still reading the SB book, and will try to blend the two.

Terri,
Joe would love that exhibit. I'm looking forward to getting that recipe. Love to try new dishes.

Jess, Michael and the boys came yesterday; Jess and I went shopping then they stayed the night. Since we had such terrible thunderstorms here all day, we couldn't BBQ. We're all going to meet Joey and Ili for breakfast shortly.

This extra day off is so sweet! Enjoy.

Happy Memorial Day

~Jen

Afternoon everyone!

Es - I am on Bextra which is a new Cox-2 drug. It's very strong and I'm on the max dosage now. But sometimes even with the meds it hurts. June 1st it is!!! 24/7 on program!! I have a trip to WDW coming in July and I don't want to be mistaken for Dumbo now!!!

Terri - I would love that recipe. I'll have to check into the book. Being at that exhibit must have been something. I'd like to see that someday.

Jen - we're suppose to get some of your weather this afternoon, tonight and I think into tomorrow. Actually it's going to rain everyday this week on and off if I read the 5 day Forecast right!

Well ladies, enjoy the rest of this Memorial Day!!! Hugs to all...

WooHoo I'm ready to rock & roll! I have my journal out. I did the Firm tape this morning. Feelin good. Now that I have Linda & Jen it's going to be even more fun. Monday's will be my weighin day. It's so frustrating to have to start over but at least we're still trying right?

Well, my friends, till tomorrow.

One more week to enjoy going to work before the She-Devil comes back.

Hey, Es,
I'll keep trying till I get it right! Let's not focus on the past.
I know it will be incredibly easy for me to be OP totally during the day. It's the evening hours that I've got to focus on....thank goodness there's so much to do around here in terms of gardening, and jobs to be done on the house itself.
I'm MORTIFIED to say I've ballooned up to 250. That's my beginning weight for tomorrow's weigh in. I've packed on 15 pounds since my foot surgery in February. That is a whole other story.
Suffice to say I still cannot begin a walking program, will focus on the weights and bike. May even pull out the yoga tapes. Once I can get in the pool, that will be a big plus.
At any rate, WHOOOO EEEEE!!! Here we go!
Linda! good luck to you and to us all Sorry to hear you're getting our lousy weather....we're in store for a week of rain and only in the upper 60's I'm a pool, sun and water freak...this is killing me

HI to all,
~Jen

Hi Ladies,

Count me in too. I am ready for a fresh start! All of a sudden I feel like I have renewed energy since things seem to be shaping up for my guys. Dave is finishing a couple of courses so that he can get his college degree by the end of the summer and Greg is finishing up his junior year in HS at night and working part time for a landscape architect during the day.

Es, Thank you for suggesting that we start with a new resolve tomorrow with the month of June. I am going to combine what I learned from the SB book and count WW points too. The hardest thing about following phase 1 of SB for me were 3 of its features: having eggs or egg beaters every day, skipping my morning oj, and remembering to snack 3 times a day. I do think it helped me with minimizing some cravings, but without following the snacking part of the program, I think that the cravings soon return. I believe the key is to not let your blood sugar get too low by going a long stretch without eating, and to avoid foods that are high on the glycemic index.

I do not want to pay for WW meetings right now. I think I will weigh in at home on Mondays, so that I can use my spare money for new plants for the garden. We are having about 30 trees taken down as soon as the yard dries up from all our spring rains. I will have a whole new vista of sunshine and more garden possibilities than I ever imagined.

Jen, I am with you on this effort too. We need to start again with attitude and everything will fall into place with practice! I hope your foot is all healed by now.

Linda, I am sorry that you are dealing with so much pain from your hip, my aunt who is only 2 years older than I am will be having a hip replacement in August also. I saw her over the weekend and I could see that the pain was really affecting her ability to walk comfortably.

Terri, I have been to that NASA facility years ago when one of my friends lived in Huntsville! What I remember most was the IMAX theatre, and the space camp.

Hi Dianne, Ruth, Zoe too!

See you all soon,

Sandy

Sandy,
We just went to the IMAX theater last week. We saw the NASCAR IMAX. IT was awesome. We have a lifetime free membership because Bruce helped someone and that was a perk. We go alot.

I am with all of you in this fresh start. I always reevaluate to keep myself from gaining. I start fresh almost every month to keep it interesting cause I know I can regain it all + more. I am with you. I know you can do it. If I can anyone can.
I did it slow and that was the hardest part. I had patience this time around. Never did before. My improved health kept me going. I swear I felt better every month. The heartburn went away after 20 pounds were gone and that was a huge plus.
Good luck to all of you!!!!

Jen,
When I get in the water I love to use the noodles and exercise my legs. I tread for like 15 minutes 4 different times so it is like an hours worth. Sometimes I don't use the noodles to help with the upper body too. It doesn't seem to be to bad in the water. So much resistance. ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Remember set small goals. You will feel so good with each one met and they come sooner then the long range ones.

Here is that recipe:
STUFFED CHICKEN CORDON BLEU
1 onion, finely chopped
1 cup sliced mushrooms
1(6 oz) package baby spinach leaves
2 TBS crumbled reduced fat goat cheese- (I used mozz. couldn't find Goat).
5 Tbs. plain dry bread crumbs
2 egg whites, lightly beaten
2 teaspoons cold water
4 (5 oz) skinless boneless chicken breasts
2 (1oz.) slices reduced fat swiss cheese, each cut in half
4 thin slices turkey ham ( I used Healthy Choice ham)

425 degrees
1. spray pan with PAM. In a skillet put in onion and mushrooms and cook until softened (5 min.) Add spinach and cook 3-4 min. Remove skillet from heat.
Stir in goat cheese and 1 Tbs. of the bread crumbs set aside.

2. Whisk egg whites with the water in a small bowl. Place the remaining 1/4 cup bread crumbs in another bowl.

3. Cut pocket in chicken. Place 1/4 filling into each breast and slightly close. Wrap 1/2 slice of the swiss cheese, then 1 slice of ham around each breast. Make sure the ham covers the cheese, secure with a toothpick.
Dip the chicken in the egg white mixture then into the bread crumbs. Transfer to baking pan. Lightly spray chicken with PAM. Bake about 25 min. or until cooked through.

303 calories, 9 gr. FAT, 2 gms. FIBER, 14 grams of CARBS

Tonight I am making the Balsamic- Glazed Roasted Onions. I will let you all know how they turned out.

YOU GO GIRLS!!!!!!!
Terri

Good Morning! I'm ready!!! I pulled out the journal, made a shopping list of my "must have" foods and day 1 yesterday went without a hitch!!!

Es - Thanks for getting us all motivated again!! I was doing great until FIL came then I threw all caution to the wind! But that was then and this is now!

Terri - Thanks for that recipe!! This is going to sound stupid but are you sure about the cook book name? I couldn't find it when I did a search. I'm going to be in Barnes and Nobel today and I'll give another look see.

Sandy - HI!! Good to see you posting again!! Actually the pain during the day is not as bad as it is at night. I have really great days and then all of a sudden BOOM! I can't move. But that'sok...this is only "temporary"!

Jen - we all can do this. As I once said on another board "Strength in Numbers". We'll keep each other motivated!

Well I'm off today and headed to the store. Then I need to make some phone calls to my health insurance co. to see what's covered for my surgery and what's not. I need lot of "stuff" after the surgery and I want to see if I can get reimbursed.

Have a great day buddies and remember.....we CAN do this together!

Good morning!

Terri,
Thanks for the recipe, I'm going to try it this week. Your re-evaluation each month is a smart idea. I'm glad you're with us!

Linda,
I've gotten some WW cookbooks through the mail from Oxmoor House over the years. I must have missed the name of the one Terri's using? Glad you had a good day! I did also...my first totally OP day in a looong time

Today after work I've got to do some points-friendly grocery shopping. Haven't had time yet, and don't want to rummage like I had to yesterday

Es,
How's it going?

Sandy,
Es certainly got the ball rolling, didn't she? June 1st is the perfect time to start fresh.

Have a great day!
~Jen

Linda,
The cookbook is called Weight Watchers Winner's Circle
145+ favorite recipes from members, leaders and home cooked meals.
There is a picture of a layered salad on the front. It looks delicious.

Thanks Jen. Glad to be here. Maintaining is hard too. It is a challenge everyday.
That is why I need you guys too.

Today we are going walking for 3 miles. Tanner just loves that.

TTYL,
Terri

Walking for three miles! yay Terri and Tanner!
When I can start walking again, watch out!
I have to check out the WW cookbooks I have, I'm sure there are tons of recipes I've yet to try.

Another good day; this, for me, is baby steps, ladies! Those who have been here for a while know how I love fresh starts, and fizzle out. I'm just enjoying each day now. And I can see how much I was eating/munching when I was home all day for 3 years!

Hi Girls

Sorry I haven't stopped by. I had a real busy week. I'm so proud of all of you. Starting fresh is motivating. I'll weigh-in on Monday.

Sandy, I'm doing the At Home WW. I did rejoin a few weeks ago to get some new materials that they had. I like meetings I just can't seem to get there. A few people from work are doing it online. You don't like eggs? I make a spinach omelet & it's so good. What snacks are you allowed?

Jen, staying home does make you want to snack more. You know we're very much alike when it comes to evening snacking. I've been good all week. I think it's a mental thing. Just knowing the the summer is here & having to buy a new bathing suit this year has me motivated. WE CAN DO THIS. Try to do something active at least 3 days or more if you can. The Yoga tapes & weights is great. Don't forget your water.

Terri, you look great. I've read in so many websites that maintaining is very hard. I know you've done so well. You are so pretty. Good going with walking! Keeps Tanner in shape too.

Linda, make sure you find out what the insurance covers. I got stuck with a humungous bill after my surgery. I fought it & won but check it all out before you have it.

I don't have any plans this weekend. Tomorrow we're suppose to get rain. We've had so much rain lately.

We'll ladies, have a great day.

Till tomorrow.
