  • Nurse Betty...
Has anyone seen that? I saw that last night - it was not what I expected. I wonder how Rene Zelwigger will fare as Bridget Jones? I need to get that book!!!!

    Belle
  • Thanks trish, that is sweet of you....

    Belle
  • Sarah: yeah I know I'll be at goal soon, I guess this plateau is a good thing though, it will help get me more mentally prepared for maintanance. I think I'll still lose another 5lbs after I get to goal and make 150 my personal goal... We'll see though. Thank you though ! Good plan though for you at the outback!!!

Trish: good for you on exercising this morning. I wish I could be a morning exerciser, it never works out for me that way (I love the snooze button too much).

Belle: your picture is really great! Yes, when I was about 50lbs from goal I became very pumped! Heck when I got below 215 I got pumped since that was also virgin fat territory for me.

Lisa: I'm glad you found your PMs

Shalyne: he sounds like a complete sweetee.... hopefully he'll realize what a great girl he has though and maybe he does realize that already. Sometimes guys just take time to sort out their feelings and stuff.

    Take Care!

  • Hi Everyone!
Happy Wednesday! I was away yesterday because I didn't have time to log on. We have these morning meetings now that take up so much time. Its micro-management at its finest. However, I have decided not to waste my time complaining about work anymore. I will simply suck it up and stick it out until DH and I can afford a house. Once that happens, I can go back to school and try out a new career. On the housing front, things are going OK. DH has been good at researching areas and finding some to look at. I'm having major sticker shock because the homes here are way more expensive than where I grew up. Hopefully something will come up. I'll try to respond to all that I can...

Brenda ~ Way to go on the 3 pounds! You are doing wonderful. PL sounds like a booming business. THe more you talk about it, the more tempting it sounds. Maybe when I become a teacher I'll be able to do something like that on the side! My good friend does pampered chef and has such a blast.

Belle ~ Hope you feel better. Thats great that b/f seems to be coming around. Thats a great picture! Thanks for sharing! How was nurse betty? I've been wanting to check it out. Rene Z is from a town close to the one I grew up in. I dated quite a few guys from her town.

Sarah ~ Outback sounds awesome. I'm already hungry and its still the morning. They have a really good chicken caesar salad that you can get the dressing on the side. The dressing is spicy, so you don't have to use a lot. Very tasty! I can never finish it and I usually count it for about 8 points.

Ali ~ I'm finding it really hard the closer I get to goal also. This week is a bad one because of TOM and the quitting smoking thing. Hopefully I won't gain too much.

Lola ~ I picked fall as my fav too! I was married in October and the weather was beautiful. I also liked the option of using more "fall" colors for the wedding. Its a good contrast to the white dress.

Kirsty ~ That happens to me a lot with salad dressing. I've gotten to where I'll keep the bottle, but just eat smaller amounts. Sometimes the full fat variety has more flavor (go figure ) so you don't need as much.

Shaylene ~ I think its great that you and your friend have gotten on the same page. Some of the best relationships start out as friendships. I know you have probably heard this before, but it is so true. I wish you the best and hope it turns out to be all you expected. Keep the communication open with him so you don't have to bottle any of that up and cause yourself any undue stress.

Lisa ~ Great job on the Pizza. On Friday DH and I ordered veggie pizza with less cheese and I was able to have one slice and a big bowl of salad. I felt so much better afterward. AND I was able to fit in my new favorite dessert ~ Skinny Cow mint ice cream sandwiches (2 pts).

Trish ~ Good luck with the running program. I stick with walking because I had ankle reconstruction a few years ago. I envy those that can run a lot. It seems really relaxing. Don't worry about the few days of not being OP. Since you're getting back on, you'll make up for it in no time!

Well, I need to get to work. I have WI at lunch and I'll let you know how it goes. I've been good about points and exercise this week, but I think the TOM will blow it. I just hope I don't gain .

    Have a great day!
    Kay
  • One more thing...
It has been 86 hours since my last cig. Its been hard but I think I can make it! I already feel a ton better. Thanks everyone for all of the support!

Also, food find ~ I mentioned it earlier but Skinny Cow Ice Cream sandwiches are awesome and only 2 points! If you can find them, try them! very good.

Someone asked about crockpot cooking ~ Stew and BBQ roasts work really well and are simple to do. I'll find some low fat recipies and post them.

Now I really have to go! Hello to all I missed!

  • Can't.keep.my.eyes.open ...
Hi girls ... I couldn't sleep last night, finally fell asleep around 2, then got up at 8. I don't do well on 6 hours of sleep! Then I had to go talk to a bunch of high school kids about a high school journalism workshop my newspaper does every summer. What fun.

I got to WI in about an hour ... I didn't go last week when I was in Florida, so it'll be a moment of truth! I got on my scale this morning, though, and I think I actually might have lost a little. I've been exercising every day since I've been back — last night I went swimming at my gym's pool — so hopefully that helped.

Belle, you look gorgeous, dahlin! I've got to get a picture up sometime. I don't have a scanner attached to my work computer, though, and I really don't like any of the pictures of me during the past year, anyway. But I'll see ...

Well, I gotta run and do some work. It's going to be a busy day. I've been procrastinating a story that's due tomorrow, and I have a story to write for the weekend. It feels like I was never on vacation at all AND MY TAN IS FADING! But I don't care enough to go to a tanning bed or anything like that. I tried to go last year before I went to Jamaica, to get a base tan, and I ended up burning my boobs. Not fun! And I get so bored just lying there, anyway.

I might have missed some Bridget Jones discussion last week ... but let me just say that as much as I want to see the movie, Renee Zellweger has already offended me. I read an interview with her where she was complaining a little about having to be on the movie set being "that big" and with a big butt "the size of Brazil." She gained enough to get to 9 stone, and what is that? Around 125? She thinks that's big? Poor baby. I feel so sorry for her! It must be tough being used to being a stick.

Sorry, I'm not bitter or anything. I just want to weigh 125!

Well, I'm off. I check back in later with the results from WI!
  • Hey
Good morning! I forgot to tell you that I ran into an old WW buddy last night. She was re-registering after quitting over a year ago. I couldn’t believe it had been a year. I’m just glad I stuck with it and didn’t quit!

I’m in a pretty good mood considering the events of this morning. I suppose it’s my excitement over a good WI last night. Our General Manager brought in Krispy Kreme doughnuts this morning I told myself that if I resisted the ones last week, I would allow myself to have some when they brought these in. The store just opened here in Colorado and it’s the big buzz right now. I wasn’t going to tell you guys, but it just would have made me feel worse for not admitting my weakness. I feel icky and huge now though b/c I indulged. I’m going to get V-8 for lunch which will be 0 points and show extreme control when DH’s mom brings dinner over. His parents are going to watch the Av’s game with us tonight. I actually get to watch a whole game, spend time with my hubby and relax! I’m also thinking that I can get my workout machine out and maybe get some exercise in before they come or even during the game. Anything will help combat the doughnuts!!!

I love Spring and Summer. I do think summer gets way too hot at times, but it’s great to go up in the mountains camping b/c the nights are still fairly cool. That’s one of the things I can’t wait to do since we have Nestle now! After doing the poll I realized I like fall as well. What’s hard right now (as I’m sure everyone can sympathize with) is being inside when it’s so nice out! I think today after getting a V-8 I’m going to walk down to Ross and buy some cute headbands. My bangs are getting really long and annoying!

Kirsty: Yeah, it’s pretty much driving me nuts that I can’t find a purple shop. There used to be a place in Dallas, TX called Purple Paradise. I have an old business card but the number is disconnected. Thank you very much for helping me though

Lola: We had our wedding in July and the Chapel had no AC. I’ll never hear the end of the for as long as I live. PL Is PartyLite Gifts. I have a home based business and sell candles and accessories. They are the best candles in the world!! I take the stuff to people’s houses, light all the candles and have a great time. I’m going to quit my full time job to just sell candles hopefully this fall. I’m so excited! (On a side note: I hope I’m not annoying you guys with all my PL talk. I love sharing with everyone and it’s just pretty exciting to actually see my dreams within reach. It’s amazing and empowering and I think the positivity is actually helping me stay on WW.)

Ali: You are so close to goal! I heard that it’s very challenging to drop those last pounds. I know you can do it. Keep going!

Shaylne: I admire you for being able to do just a weekend relationship. It’s so hard!

Lisa: Thanks for the cartwheels! If you could do them in a car that’s what I would have been doing! Way to go on the sensible eating! It is amazing how much determination just working out can give you. Keep up the good work. Root for the Av’s for me tonight! I’ll root for the Bruins against the Sabres

Belle: What a wonderful picture! Glad you are enjoying your place. You should have a little house warming party. I think it’s so fun to entertain! I’m very glad your mom is being so cool about the whole thing. There’s nothing worse than being on the outs with your Mom.

Trish: Thanks for the happy dance Can you say mental picture? We can meet and go see BJ. I’m not sure my DH wants to see it either. I’m so excited that it’s almost here!

Sarah: Thanks for the encouraging words! Great job on points. I have a really hard time doing Outback and staying OP. Can we say Bloomin’ Onion?? I know you can do it and I will be thinking about you tonight!

Kay: Thanks for the congrats! It’s funny you say you want to be a teacher b/c that’s what I want to do. When I quit I’ll be able to go back to school during the day and get my degree. I may never need to use it, but it’s become another personal goal for me. I know how hard it is not to complain about work when you aren’t happy. Oh!! I’m so proud of you for quitting smoking! Keep it up.

  • Hi ladies. Lunch was good. I was starving by lunchtime, so I had to make myself eat slowly, or I would have devoured more than I should have. I had a Subway sandwhich for lunch and a yogurt.

Trish - good for you going to the gym. It takes so much for me to actually get up and go, but once I'm there it's not so bad

Sarah - Mmmmm Outback! I love the bloomin onion. I remember looking at a website with points for outback... I think they have a shrimp on the barbie that's not bad.. and some chicken meal also. But sometimes people just want MEAT. I'm not a big red meat eater... but every few months I crave it. Also, the bloomin onion is not as bad as one might think (or at least the site where I found the points claimed it wasn't). I think the whole thing is 16 points, so if you shared with a bunch of people it might not be so bad.

Belle - What a nice picture!!! I thought it was someone's "after" picture you look so good!

TXAggie - Good luck at weigh in!! Let us know how you do. And hang in there with the smoking thing. You've worked so hard and WOW... you're doing great.

Kim - Good luck at weigh in! Keep us posted.

Brenda - Krispy Kreme Rules! I'm originally from Biloxi, MS and we've had KK since before I can remember. They are just now getting to other areas of the states. Mmmm. And KK donuts are not nearly as bad as Dunkin' Donuts. Mainly because they are much smaller. I think most KK donuts are 4 or 5 points. Where DD ones can be much more. GO AVS!!!! And thanks with the Bruins. We need these wins... the race with Carolina is TOO CLOSE FOR COMFORT!!!!!!

Ladies... good luck with weigh in!!!

  • almost time for cocktails!
off for margaritas , but just had to say cool piccie belle - i love putting faces to names!
oh, and kim - apparently some magazine refused to put renee z on the front cover because she was at her bridget jones' weight! sheesh! anyone know how tall she is? cos 125 is nothing weightwise. if i was that weight i'd be very ill. and i'd have to drink margaritas.
    i'll reply properly tomorrow morning.
enjoy the rest of your days,
    kirsty
  • Hello Ladies!
Well, the thread is definately hopping today! Yippee!

I was so close to quitting last night(even though May 11 is my last day anyways ), I'm just sick of all the complaining that I get from everyone...probably partly PMS.

I did well with food yesterday!!! WOOHOO!! And so far so good today too!

Belle~ no wonder your bf is falling in love with you, you are gorgeous!!!!

Brenda~ congrats on that weigh in!!! THat's awesome!!!

Kimobi~ thats' Hollywood for you I think she's pretty normal looking though~ not too glamourous.

Kay~ awesome job on those cigarettes!!!! Keep up the great work!!!! I wish mybrother would quit too....

Ali~ have a nice time at dinner....you deserve it!

Sarah~ Sorry to hear about the anemia....you should definately up your protein intake...I was anemic when I was a vegitarian a while back and ended up getting very sick

Trish~ good job on the workout!

Shayle~ begginnings are tough as far as working out how much time you want to spend together. Sometimes you both want to but neither say....the best is yet to come!

Lisa~ awesome job on that pizza....you got to have it and you were still at your min. that is so cool!

Kirsty~ I hear ya about the co-workers possibly getting into your milk....I hate that. My diet cokes always seem to disappear. I say if you know that you did not put it in there then you should not take it out!!! geeze!!!!

Well, things are weird over here. I am in a bad mood already UGh...got to get out of this funk...

    Later!
  • Finally!
I am back. I haven't posted in what seems like forever. I have had time to read a few posts but to be honest I didn't even get to read all of todays much less the last wk or so. I am doing well. I had WI on Fri and I was down 1.6. It is weird though b/c today I got on the scale at work and it said I was back at 188. Yikes that would mean I have gained 3pds since Fri. I hope that it is some freek accident or something. It could be food weight or something who knows. I have been exercising but not exactly on points (surprise, surprise ) Oh well I need to get it together.
I can't reply to the posts right now so I apologize but tomorrow I will attempt to keep up
    Becky
  • I am soooo bummed!
Just got back from WI....I am up 1.2#! That is the most I think I've ever been up in one week. Boo hoo. Oh well, at least I didn't pout with a cig. I think I am really being tested with this non smoking thing. Anything and everything that used to set me off is happening (work stress, TOM, weight gain, etc). I just don't get it. I was so good the past couple of weeks. Oh well, maybe next week I'll have a big loss. I can only hope....

    Have a good afternoon everyone!
    Kay
  • Smoking....
I am so proud of you Kay for not smoking for so long - my stepmonster recently started again to lose weight (?) and it didn't work well for her...but to lose weight and quit smoking at the same time, that is awesome, don't worry about your little gain, its little - most of us have gained 2-3 in a week!!!! Or more (though, those were weird gains, likely mostly water).

Thanks for your comments on my pic - I was worred about posting it....

On Rene Z and Nurse Betty - I didn't really like it, it was odd....but not horrible. I think Kim, that is ridiculous that she complained like that. I hate media sterotypes. I think beauty is way out of wack in society. Oh well, what can we do. That is part of why I am not gung ho about the model thing - first, it was for "plus" models - I think they should be "real" models and also b/c its so fake.....they consider "plus" to be a size 10 - to me that's skinny!! but, another topic really....

I am signing off and I will respond more tomorrow - I am so sick, I can't eat, and I have chills - but my b/f has my car and house keys and is in training at some hotel today so I am pooched!!!!

Oh well, could be worse. I do get paid by the hour, so better I earn the money....

    Belle
  • Skarbonka!
How's that for a word of the day? It means money-box in Polish and it is one of my favourite words ever ...

I had to say my favourite season was 'other' because I love whatever season I'm in at the time ... I love wearing cuddly jumpers and having the fire on in winter, I love the smell of bonfires in autumn, I love the smell when spring is in the air and I love the hear haze in the summer ... This weekend I walked out to a park in Madrid where you can see right out to the Guadarrama mountains and there was snow on the peaks, but you could smell spring ... Heaven!

YIPPEE!!! to all the losers, since I can't weigh while I'm here I am relying on you guys to do it for me - like, fantasy WW. Hey, if I added up all the pounds you've all been dropping and made them my fantasy pounds, I'd be nearly at goal! (Going to have to set a goal weight when I get back because I hope and EXPECT to be under my 2nd 10%. I'm so excited!)

Belle - that is a fabby photo. I can see why you won the model competition! I will definitely find a photo when I get back and scan it in. Maybe I will get one done in a booth here ... I don't know why, but I always imagined you with curly hair (like I always imagined Ali with blonde curly hair!).

Kay - yay! on the ciggies. Emily - yay! on the house. Brenda - yay! on the PL award. I know there's a purple store, well, a booth, in the Pentagon City mall in DC but I can't for the life of me remember what it's called. Sarah, can you help me out here?

Anyway, better dash - blokey is calling tonight (sigh). Only 2 weeks and he will be here with me ...

    Have a good evening everyone!
    love Lolly

  • Does anyone live near Baltimore?
Cuz I'm going to be up there April 22-27 for a journalism seminar at the Univ. of Maryland. (I was accepted for a fellowship on crime and punishment reporting, which should be pretty cool.) I couldn't remember if anyone was around that area. Sarah, you're near D.C., right? But you're in NoVa., which might still be a jaunt.

As for WI, I lost .6. Not much, but I guess I should be glad I lost at all after missing a week of WI and being on vacation! Still, I want more! At least I'm at my 20-pound mark again and on the downward slide ...

I wish I were still on vacation. I don't want to do anything. Blah, blah. Plus it's that lovely time of month and the world is bugging me!

Lolly: I forgot to answer ... yeah, I saw lots of alligators in the Everglades! Very cool! I saw them in the National Park down there, and my parents and I also went to a place called "Gator Park" and rode an airboat through a canal. Then during an alligator show after the boat ride I got to hold a little alligator, about two feet long. It had a rubber band around it's mouth so it couldn't bite!. If the picture comes out I'll find a way to scan it in and show everyone!

Kay: Hang in there! Since February I've been hovering around the 20-pound mark ... up a pound, down a pound, etc, and it's driving me crazy. Your body might be adjusting to your quitting smoking (i'm not sure how that would work, but it sounds good!) I'm trying to quit, too. I'm more of a social smoker — I usually only smoke if I'm out with friends drinking — but lately I've been smoking a little more. I've gotta stop that, especially since I have asthma! Bad me! When I went swimming last night, doing laps, I found that I couldn't hold my breath under water as long as I used to. That's not good. No more cigarettes!

Belle, Kirsty: Speaking of Hollywood hype, did you hear Gwyneth Paltrow was cast to play an overweight girl in an upcoming movie? She's supposedly going to be wearing a fat suit to make her look like she weighs 300 lbs. I can't WAIT to hear her bellyaching.

Becky: Remember, different scales show different weights! I was convinced I weighed 185 at home, but I was 186.6 at WW. I like home better.

Brenda: Congrats on the loss! Whoo-hoo!

What's with all this talk about a purple shop? I must have missed something ...

Well, I better get back to work. Hi to everyone I missed!
