Tempting Tuesday

  • Hi All,

Just to let you know, I am fine. I have hypoglycaemia, but that's controllable (it's a condition that happens rather than a disease), but I was told by my doc who has it, I have to eat very regularly and eat foods to keep me full and try to avoid stuff with a lot of sugar in it... My pap was a bit off, there were a couple of abnormal cells, but my doc says it's common and that usually by the next pap it's gone, so she told me not to worry. My ultrasound was perfect!

Anyhoo, i't my BFs birthday and I made him the must-bake carrot cake form the cookbook Crazyplates, I hope it's good..

    Have a good day!

    Ali
  • Hey Ali,
Good to know you're okay! I'm sorry, i haven' been around lately to catch up on what's been going on, but good news is always appreciated. Carrot Cake, YUM-MAY!

Well, I've been pretty MIA lately, but it's been like that for everything. Traveling over the holidays makes logging on rare, and getting busy at work doesn't help.
My parents are coming into town, papa last week.. Momma this week, so I think once I get them through town things will be somewhat back to normal.

Lexxy, I'm on running week 4, how are you doing on it? Funny that I think I've been doin this for almost two months and Im' only on week four, but well, the fact that I'm on WEEK 4 says at least something. I've made it this far!
The scale hasn't gone down much but through the holidays I maintained my small weight loss, so I' optmistic. I have changed my goal to 10 pounds by march 15th, and ideally another ten by may 20.

Okay, tha'ts my catch up.. everyone else now
  • Good Morning!!
Good morning, ladies!! Sorry I haven't been around much--at a meeting last week with all 60 people from my building, it was mentioned that my area is way behind so I really gotta get scooting. Of course, what they failed to mention is that during the Christmas season, I'm also responsible for helping to put up the Christmas tree, for putting together a big ol' Christmas feast, and for helping to take down the Christmas tree. Unfortunately, not helping is not an option. And overtime isn't either.

Anyway, that's the scoop there. Not much else going on. Today is WI. I'm a smidge nervous, because I don't feel like I had the best week. But I also know it wasn't too bad. We'll just have to see what the scale says.

Ali--Glad to know that all is OK. Hypoglycemia is a pretty live-with-able condition, as far as I've ever heard and it sounds like you're pretty cool with it. The abnormal pap thing is something I've dealt with before. I hope your abnormal cells are gone by next time and you don't have to go through a colposcopy (biopsy of those cells) and cryotherapy (freezing of your cervix). It totally sucks!! How do they test for hypoglycemia and what were your symptoms? My mom is convinced that I'm hypoglycemic, but I'm pretty sure I'm just hungry all the time.

Di--I'm glad to see you back, I miss hearing you say "Wheeee!" It always made me giggle. Did you have nice Holidays? That's fabulous that you maintained over the holidays. I skipped WI that week because I was pretty sure I didn't maintain. And as far as the running challenge goes, hey, at least you're doing it! That's more than a lot of folks can say. You should be proud.

Laura--I got your PM and see that you came and posted. Glad to hear that everything is--was OK. I hope that you don't have to find a different job and that you can get on here from time to time.

OK, I really gotta get some work done. I'm going to try to stop back later today. See ya!!
  • OMG this day is killing me!! I just lost a post on top of it! I was venting how my prescription drug co-pays have doubled now that it's 2004. Men should have to take birth control, not us!! I am SO not a happy camper.

Di, I have to admit I kind of stopped the running plan. I think I made it mostly through week 5. I say kind of stopped because I am still "training" for my 10 mile run. Of course it has been so cold that it's stopped me from doing it much, I'm so screwed. I did about 24 mins on Sunday before almost dying. I couldn't get my butt out of bed to go today, and tonight it is supposed to get arctic again.

Ali, I've gone through the abnormal pap thing many times too. It's actually a suprise to me at this point when mine come back normal - yet they never seem to find anything actually wrong.

Jess, good luck at weigh in! Do you weigh yourself at home at all during the week? I just can't resist, even though I only count Fridays as my official number.
  • Morning everyone!!

I did something wonderful last night - exercise!! I have a new roommate and we went through high school together and played volleyball in school and on a club team. She suggested drop in volleyball at the local community centre and we kind of went last minute. It was FANTASTIC! I haven't been on the court for years and everything came back and it was fun and not too high stress. Some people were really good and some people totally sucked. I am sore today. I landed on my knee at the beginning of the night and have a bruise that covers my entire patella and some floor burn on my elbow but it felt so good. We're going to try to go every Monday and Wednesday. It means I have to buy some new workout clothes. Other than that. Still crazy at work but starting to slow down. My sister gave me some AMAZING news this weekend that I'm not allowed to tell anyone but I figure since you guys aren't going to tell anyone in our hometown it should be OK - she's preggers!! She's been married a year and a half and desparately wants kids (so does BIL) but she was having some "female problems" and they were just starting to do some test but she had to do a pregnancy test first and it was positive! She is nervous. She took another test the next day (also positive) and is going to the Dr. today. She's only 4 weeks so that's really early but we're all going to send her positive energy and get her through the first trimester and then we'll start getting REALLY excited!
Ali - I always have irregular smears. They check every year because every second one is funny. She says once she gets 2 back in a row that are OK we'll go back to every 2 years but that hasn't happened. And yay that the hypoglycemia is something controlable. that's great health news.
Di - are you doing anything fun with your parents or is it all sitting around visiting?
Jess - hope work isn't too bad. I'm on the social committee here and people constantly make fun of us cause the tree isn't perfect or it didn't get taken down soon enough. If they want to fix it, they're welcome to...
Lexxy - I agree!! BCP are soooo expensive. My ex used to pay for half cause it was only fair but now that there's no one permanent in the picture...

Wow - total monster post. I better get back to work. Have a great day everyone!

  • Hellllllooooooo ladies!

    YIPPEE!!! Down 4.4 pounds!

Whew. I was going to be very discouraged if I wasn't down big time this week. I only used 8 flex points, exercised like mad, and drank 10-12 glasses of water a day.

Ali - I'm glad it's something treatable and nothing life-threatening. That carrot cake sounds yummy!

JESS! Hi girl! Good luck at WI. Sounds like you are SWAMPED at work. Hopefully things will calm down a bit for you.

Lexxy - I feel your pain! Our prescriptions were $10, and now they are $20!!! Highway robbery if you ask me. UGH! Although, if it were the boys taking the BC, could we trust them??????

KT - that's awesome on the exercise. I have to tell you roommates make all the difference. When I lived with my best friend, she was a size 4 and NEVER exercised. She loved to order pizza and chicken wings, and I joined in. I was at my heaviest ever. When Marcy moved in, she always ate healthy and exercised, and it helped keep me on track. And congrats on becoming an AUNT soon!

Okay... off to work. Good luck ladies... we CAN do this!

  • Hey girls! I've been crazy busy lately, so I'm sorry I haven't been by to say hi. That's why I'm posting so late ... I'm still working on a story for tomorrow, but I was taking a break and playing on the Internet.

Ali, I've had the abnormal pap thing, too, and was diagnosed with cervical dyplasia and had to have the abnormal cells removed (not freezing ... they were basically lasered off). It freaked me out at first, but it's actually just catching any potential problem way before it has a chance to become a problem.

Congrats on the loss, Lisa, and way to go on the exercise, KT! I so need to get back into exercising. I really haven't done anything since September when I started working ALL-THE-TIME. I'm still not eating well because it always seems to be on the run or late at night. I think I need a healthier job ... being a criminal justice reporter is not helping my weight. Now I'm starting to get scared that being overweight is keeping me from getting pregnant. I'm so frustrated that I'm not PG yet, and we've only been trying six months.

Cross your fingers for me this month!

Well, I need to get back to work so I can go home. I think I'm getting sick again ... can you believe that? I had bronchitis for a month, and I think it might be returning. I need a vacation!

    Hi to all ...
