Hi ladies - yes things get tough at times but that is just part of weight loss journey, as they say - if it was easy everyone would be slim.

So, lets just get back at it. Tomorrow I am having a sleep over at my cousins & I know it will be drinks and snacks along with our movies, so am trying to think forward & will have light breakfast tomorrow before I get there.

Judy - you have done great dropping 50# - actually it is amazing, I bet when you started you never thought you would get were you are. I am so proud of you & so many others would be thrilled to be down that much.

Karen - It is always a challenge when you are in a position of having to order fast food plus all the extras that go along with work gatherings. Someone is always bringing in goodies to the office & I usually just say I already had some when the "food pushers" keep saying to have some. Or I take a piece & say I will have later and usually bring it home for the kids. The sweets aren't a problem for me, so that makes it easier not to indulge.

All - have a great weekend.

Hi TUrtles,
Gail, I love your attitude about food at work. I'm retired now, but that was always a challenge for me. We had a microwave in our meeting room, so I could always have a cup of tea.................but looking at the goodies was tough and I always wanted something......especially when a really good baker would bring in something nice. I really like what you had to say. :chef:

Well, our new snow is still here, but hopefully it will warm up soon and this March snow will disappear.

No real plans for the weekend, but I am thinking about what foods I'd like to prepare ahead to have on hand. Worked out great yesterday when I was babysitting and my dd took much longer than she thought she would. I came into my house starving, so discarded the planned lunch and heated up some whole wheat pasta and my Santa Fe stew in the microwave..............took about 3 minutes instead of the 10 it would have. So funny to think that eating 7 minutes sooner made a difference, but it did!

Okay, have a great weekend. I think it's important to be kind to ourselves (and not be so kind that we don't budge our weight downward.) I hope that was okay to say. Really enjoying this thread. Let's keep on keepin' on!

Judy

Hi turtles - weekend was good, fun at my cousins (watched lots of movies) not too many drinks but overdid the snacks. Overall great time.

We are suppose to get another load of snow tonight & into tomorrow, so seeing it is March break I booked the day off as a holiday. So will be home playing with
grandchildren instead of trying to drive in a big mess.

All - hope you stayed on track over the weekend.

Keep warm

Gail

Hi Turtles,
Gail, did you get as much snow as expected? We were supposed to get a foot or so and actually got 3". It was an icy mix, so the sidewalks, etc. are pretty slippery.

I have a good attitude about food. I am on track after being off for awhile. I got my "binge" weight off, and now I'm working on getting into the next decade of weight. When I am on track, I should be able to do that in a month. The biggest challenge I have is my plans change so much (my dd and grandkids live down the block ) and I need to be prepared with eating at different times than I would like. All small stuff, but I have to figure out what to do. I know I can do it. Patting myself on the back over what I've lost...............but I've been saying that again for years, so I need to do something positive again. This would be a great year to lose about 25#. That in itself would be great for fitness and appearance. :bravo: Let's do this! :goodscale:

ps
Went to my WW mtg. this morning and one of the nicest gals said she's lost 70# this year. Oh my goodness! She has tracked every single day and is doing so well. That's inspirational and I thought you'd like to hear about her determination and her wonderful results.

Morning turtles

Judy - wow, for your ww member - good for her. That is such a great success!! I hear you about the family members changing your plans. Last night, for example, my supper was all planned out & then my dd ordered pizza BUT especially since I have my weigh in tonight, I stuck with my dinner which was very good. But knowing there was pizza upstairs was challenging - but I know it would show up on the scale tonight, so I passed.

Most of the snow hit west of us, but the roads were still bad & whiteouts with the big winds. So I had yesterday off as well - started out driving to work, got about 20 minutues from
home, sliding all over & seen a few accidents, so headed back home. Bonus, though - I had my lunch & snacks all done.

Karen - how are you doing?

This week, I have stayed on track (although weekend was rough) so hoping to down down at the scale tonight. Last week I got a 6 week "no gain sticker" which was a surprise.
Haven't had big losses but no gains, I will take.

All - good luck & stay warm!

Itryharder 03-16-2017 11:01 AM

Hi Turtles,
Yes, Karen, I'm sending out a hello again from the Turtles..............it'll be good to catch up with you.

Gail, that was amazing to not have pizza when it was right in the house. So tough, but good for you and I hope you ended up with a :goodscale: for your efforts. Staying on track and getting thru a 6week no gain is wonderful. Weigh to go!

I have these small emotional mini-binges and am working very hard on keeping in mind the "why" of being in WW's. Why do I want to lose weight? Easy, to be fit and look better. nothing really earth-shattering there, but I need to keep in touch with the why.

Last night my dd called and said she and the kids wanted cookies. She said she was beat, but she could make some. I picked up the "hint" and made a batch of cookies. I baked 12 cookies and put the rest of the dough in the freezer bag for her freezer for the next time the kids wanted cookies. She can just bake up a small batch and call it a day. I am so proud of myself because I didn't eat one and had a cup of tea while they munched on their cookies. If you had told me last year that I would have been able to do this, I would have told you that I couldn't. Now, at least for today, I want to lose weight. Tomorrow is St. Pat's and I've got a corned beef, some cabbage, and carrots and potatoes ready to cook up. I'll need to be careful and hopefully most of it will be eaten at dinner since I'm having my dd and grandkids over to celebrate. My dh loves corned beef, so I think he'll probably finish it up in sandwiches.

Snow still on the ground, but I'm thinking we'll be into spring soon.

Best of luck to anyone reading this. Chime in if you'd like.
Judy

Hi Turtles,
I let you know when things aren't going well, so here's something positive. I stayed within my Smart Points yesterday. It was a challenge because we had a typical St. Pat's supper here, but I compensated by having a tuna salad at lunch which I made with zero fat yogurt and mustard instead of lite mayo. Okay, that's enough about me.

How are you doing???? :bravo:  :cheer: :goodscale:

I am determined to have a good day today!

bandit2 03-18-2017 05:39 PM

Hi turtles

Judy - great job staying within your range, yesterday - that is great.

Karen - how are you doing?

I was down 3# at Tops Thus evening, so was thrilled with that. Now just to keep it off & keep going in the right direction. Got in a big walk this a.m. with the dog & just doing some house stuff (new dining set got put together & looks nice) Went grocery shopping and need to made something with chicken breasts for upcoming week as well as I bought ground beef, so maybe a chili (haven't made that in awhile).

All - have a great weekend!

Itryharder 03-19-2017 07:54 PM

Hi Turtles,
Gail, I don't think I have ever had a 3# weight loss in one week. Oh my goodness! WEigh to go and :bravo: and :goodscale: I am so happy for you and I know you can keep it off and keep on keepin' on. You rock!!!

I made some brown rice to have on hand and tomorrow I'll make a chicken cutlet dish in a crockpot. Got a million things done today and it felt great. I am working hard on keeping my smart points (Karen, it's fine that you do any other kind of points) down and within the right range. It's good for me to keep track because if I go off a bit, I have the rest of the day to tweak foods and substitute lower point foods to make the day balance out.

Hey, here's a low point breakfast. Cook 2T oatmeal in 4T water. Let it cool and add 1/2 banana and 1/2 cup berries or other fruit, some cinnamon, and about 1/2cup of ff Greek yogurt. The way I calculate this, it is a 2 Smart Point breakfast. The nice thing about it is that it holds me until lunch. Hope you try it and like it.

Okay, that's it for now. Karen, chime in and say hello. I'm thinking of you. All former Turtles, if you're around, chime in because I'd love to know what you're up to.

Judy

bandit2 03-21-2017 11:03 AM

Hi turtles

Judy - your oatmeal sounds really good. I ended up making a chicken/rice/broccoli casserole type thing but left the chicken breasts whole & put on top of everything else.
Turned out good. Make spaghetti sauce with the ground beef (not chili) and had that with the fake noodles last night for my dinner. So lots of leftovers in the fridge.
Out for dinner this evening with the ladies so have the make a good choice for that, maybe a nice salad with some shrimp - that would be pretty low in calories/points.
Just have to be careful with the dressing.

Also when I was looking through my recipes, I came across your veggie pie recipe that I love - so have pulled that out to make very soon. It is so good & easy and goes with
any kind of meat. Also great for my lunches.

It is nice and sunny up here, so liking that.

All - have a good day.

Itryharder 03-22-2017 01:13 PM

Hi Turtles,

Karen, whatever is going on..........chime in and say hello .............even if you've found another group you like.

Had my WI this morning and I was down 1.2#. So, I have only 1 more pound to lose to be at my lowest weight in a long time. All good. I had an indulgence last week with corned beef and cabbage, but I didn't make a ton of food and therefore didn't have to worry about overdoing it with leftovers. I'm glad about that.

Bandit, so funny..............I forgot all about that vegetable pie and it really is a lovely side dish or even a good little lunch. Thanks for the reminder. I've got a chicken stew in my crockpot and that will be easy tonight for dinner.

So pleased I lost weight this week. Looking forward to losing another pound this upcoming week. my friend says to remember to stay determined because then we'll smile at the scale. I did think of that feeling and am glad I did my best this week. Never perfect, but still working on getting this excess weight off.

Have a great day. Chat soon.

Hi turtles

Judy - great job on your weight loss this week! Very good. Keep it going - exciting to get down to your lowest.

For my dinner out last night I ordered a small greek salad with skewer of grilled shrimp. It was not a lot of food. I counted it as 300 calories since dressing was vinegarette kind
and only got 4 shrimps. Had enough calories for snack of 4 crackers with some cheese, since I needed that later. Kept within my range for the day with going out - so happy with that.

Cold day up here today, but it get better. The sun is shining so that is a bonus.

Karen - hope you are doing OK and get back here posting with us.

Itryharder 03-26-2017 02:57 PM

Hi Turtles,
Bandit, you did great eating out and had enough calories to snack later at night. Very smart and much better than overindulging at the dinner out and having nothing to work with if you got hungry later on. WEigh to go.

Lots of birthdays in my family lately. Had granddaughter's birthday party on Sat. Lots of fun with 14 4 and 5 year olds . so cute and noisy. lol.

Food is good today. Looking forward to a nice dinner. Mostly relaxing today since I finished up a very busy week getting all sorts of things done. it felt good. Onward and downward, right? :goodscale:
Judy
Karen, chime in when you get a moment.

bandit2 03-27-2017 09:23 AM

Morning turtles

Judy - your party sounds like it was fun.

Last night we had company over with another 2 small children, so 4 of them running around & 3 dogs - lots of activity, but all good. Having little ones around
is really nice.

I was down 1# last Thurs at my Tops - so was happy with that. Weekend wasn't too bad eating wise - had a few extras here & there but nothing major.

Rainey day up here & looks like this week will be a dull one - but as long as it is not freezing rain, not complaining.

All - have a great week.
