Default 50 or more week of July 14

If you have 50 or more pounds to lose, this is the group for you! So jump on in and join; you'll be sure to get a warm welcome!

Guess summer has fried my brain; forgot it was Monday, and posted on last week's thread! So I'll just copy & paste it below:

Hi Linda! Hmm, why not try putting a TV in front of the treadmill, and using it during a favorite program? Then you can focus on the program instead of the "dreadmill," and it'll be done before you know it!

I needed a little push this a.m. myself, to get up and walk; thank goodness DH got me moving! It was SO lovely out there. Such a haunting, ethereal full moon rising out of cool mists over a green pasture. Horses grazing in the hazy pre-dawn light, mockingbirds serenading us. Lovely! We did two miles, and DH is getting much faster now. (I always love walking with him, but when we first started walking together, the pace was a bit too slow for me.)

I guess I'd better get packing for this cruise. We leave Wed. morning, cruise Thur through Mon, and then straight to my DS's in Florida to visit and pick up Dad. I just hope Claudette doesn't get in the way; looks like it'll be almost over by then, though.

Hope everyone has a great week!
Regards,
Jan

Good Monday morning!
Jan I've been watching Claudette to see if it would get close to you. I do hope it doesn't give you any trouble with your cruise.
We went to a going away dinner last night for some church friends. It was all prepared by WW friendly people. Roasted skinless chicken and great salad, lite dessert etc. Was a lot of fun.

We got home to a phone call from dgd who had just been in an auto accident with her bf! They were broadsided on her side of the car, which was totally crushed in and the windows knocked out. She escaped with only a few knicks on her arm from the broken glass. She was cool and calm about the whole thing, except we never did find her glasses that she was wearing! I even asked the sheriff deputy to look thru the car with his bright flashlight.
Her bf on the other hand was a total wreck!! very shaken! He kept apologizing over and over about having dgd with him and having the accident....and thanking God that they weren't hurt.
Bless his heart!
She leaves tonight for the USAF, she really should have her glasses, I think we will try Lens Crafters 1 day service. They are not allowed to wear contacts in basic. I'll let her sleep a few more minutes. Meantime I have to make an appt for the dog! she has chosen now to get another skin condition! AARRRGGGHHH! What are dull moments like???

I also "copied and pasted" from the last thread--so glad that Jan started us on our new thread.

Hi, Jan ! I hate to admit this, but I have both a TV and a VCR in front of my treadmill. All I need is the discipline to hop onto it and do some walking!

<Yawn> We go to bed at about 1 a.m. every morning, and this morning I woke up at 5 and couldn't get back to sleep (we usually sleep very late; our friends and family know not to call before noon on any given day!). I got up and had some cereal (Heart to Heart -- thanks for the recommendation, Jan) and have been watching the news as the sun came up. Another hot day here today -- triple digits, and smoggy.

Hope everyone has a good OP day.

Omigosh, JOYce, what a scare that must have given you! Thank goodness your dgd and her bf are okay!! What a thing to happen to her just before leaving for the AF, too. Whew. Sending good vibes your way to cope with all this ... and hope ddog is better soon too! I'm sure this heat can't be helping with that, either.

Hi Linda! Saw the weather report for y'all's area, wow, that really is HOT! I didn't realize you were such a night owl (knew you stayed up late, but one a.m. is REALLY late, for me, anyway!) You and my little sister would've made great college roomies; she's lucky that her line of work lets her get up late and work late.

Hope everyone can stay cool and relax during this heat wave! It's not too bad down here, probably because of the impending storm, but it's way too hot to work outside. (For me, anyway! DH is still going strong, and has completely rebuilt the cattle working pens.)

Hi to Kelly, Hottie, Bandit, Bluvsu, Janet, Carol, Texaslady, and Nascargirl, hope I didn't miss anyone. Drop in when you can!

Regards,
Jan

It feels pretty strange! dgd is really gone! We took her to the recruiter's office last night for him to take her to the departure area. She seemed like such a little girl, yet so grown up. It was strange last night, going to bed and not leaving the porch light on for her to come in. She is in Jan's country by now. Will she be initiated witha hurricane!?!?
We were able to get her glasses done in an hour at WalMart, thank goodness! got the dog to the vet and medicated, (turns out she has chafing from being overweight and a heat rash.) She will be fine.

Today marks 47 yrs for our marriage! dh left a beautiful bouquet of flowers on the breakfast table for me. and some of our friends are taking us out to dinner tonight

dh was told he is diabetic, just as he was getting very aware of what he eats, another test shows his blood sugar is 'normal', I am going to go ahead and get rid of a lot of the junk food in the kitchen today. I'm thankful for the new results, but will keep a better eye on what we both eat.

Hi, JOYce! I was gone most of the day, went to have lunch with a couple of friends of my sweet Mom, we had a lot of fun. It is important for me to keep up those relationships, even though my Mom is with the Lord now.

I didn't go to WI this morning because the time conflicted with my lunch plans, and I'm thinking that I may just save $9.95 and wait until next Wednesday to go back to the meeting. I ate very carefully at lunch today, a boca burger on a high fiber bun, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, a bit of catsup, and on the side, fresh fruit. Just because I am skipping this week's WI, I'm not going to overeat.

I think about Texaslady from time to time, does anyone know anything about her? I miss her posts.

Janet, are you still going to every WW meeting? I think that is remarkable, and your weight loss is heartening for me. I've got about 16 pounds to get rid of until I'm back to my goal (I am so looking forward to the meetings being free again). I am taking it off fairly slowly, but I do realize that is the way to do it. It is startling to me how much less I am eating since rejoining WW, and yet I am satisfied.

Hi JOYce and Linda! JOYce, I am so glad that your DH turned out not to be diabetic; what a relief!

Linda, WTG on staying OP! You'll be back at goal soon, I know!

Just a quick post, as I'm at our motel and there is a time limit on this computer.

Not too much damage from the hurricane; lost a tree in Dad's back yard, limbs all over the place, but no major damage. We were out of power for about 6 hours, and were worried that we'd not be able to come on this cruise, but it worked out okay!

We'll be getting on the ship later today. DH and I just finished a long walk along the Galveston seawall; lovely out there. Just a couple days ago, the water was splashing over the seawall; hard to imagine, if we didn't see all the debris there! There was a newscaster setting up a camera there; guess there were quite a few down here during the storm. The eye came right through our county!

Gotta run! Hi to everyone, and I hope you have a great weekend!
Regards,
Jan

So good to hear from you JAN . and I'm so glad that you didn't have any major damage from Claudette! (A tree is major enuf for me!) I know you will have a great time on the cruise! Hope it is uneventful, weatherwise. Having been watching the news, it is amazing to me that you will be able to cruise! Amazing to think of you walking along the seawall that we have seen on the tv!
Linda, How about checking in on Saturday, the same leader is there, and you would keep your attendance perfect. (Listen to me, I don't even go anymore) I found several paid coupons that I have paid for, so should go back, but don't want to start before I go on vacation and then have to miss 2 or 3 weeks that have to be paid for. HMMM a bright light! I wonder if I can change to the Liberty program and not be charged for missed meetings hmmmm I will go check that out!

ttyl
Hi to all! have a great weekend!

Question

I haven't found my answer, I will probably have to go to the WW center to ask, but I did find this site, which looks like it could be helpful.
http://www.caloriesperhour.com/index_burn.html
it has Activity as well as nutritional values calculators.

Jan, so glad you were able to check in from your motel. So it had a computer you were able to use? Cool. I know you will have a wonderful cruise, I also will be praying for good weather for you. Have lots of fun.

JOYce, thanks for the advice about the Saturday meeing; I didn't realize that the leader on Wednesdays is also the Saturday leader. And thanks for the calorie counter site, it is so funny to see some of the activities they list!
