  • Okay, clue me in. How are you Turtles responding to everyone?
Do you print out the threads and have it in front of you? Is there
a technical way I can do this without printing out? I really can't remember everyone's words and I like to respond because I know how great I feel when people say something nice to me.

Anyway--Lauren, enjoy your trip. Lin, enjoy the peace and quiet.
Life is so wierd. I've come to the conclusion that nothing is perfect and I need to make the best of things. The loneliness of not having the kids around on a daily basis is hard, but there are
things that help--like computer access time, etc.
Kaylets--size 14 pants! Whooohoo!! I'd be glad to be in size 18, so you must be thrilled. Miata--take some nice long freeing rides and enjoy yourself. April, glad you're to the ten pound mark and that the scale is going down. I'm at the point in life where seasons feel like days and months like hours. So although time is a factor, the weight does go down and the time passes.

I'm real proud of myself. I had my birthday this week and I've kept off another pound. So, so far I've got those four pounds off and am working hard at getting another pound off. I asked for sneakers for my birthday and I actually got on the treadmill for a few minutes the other day. I am determined to get this weight off. For my birthday I decided I didn't want a cake. My daughter came out today and we had some foods that I wanted. I did overindulge a bit, but I figure I used all my banked points for the week and that's okay. She's back home now and tomorrow I'll try to hit 25 points or so to get a few points back in the bank.

I love having new members. Good luck to us all. And if anyone has pointers on reviewing what others wrote while they're typing their reply, please clue me in.
    Love,
    Judy
  • Hi, Turtles,

I don't have a lot of time right now, so I'm going to do a new thread tomorrow morning.

Judy, to reply to eveyone's post without printing it out--

    1. Scroll down the page and you can read the posts. (Or up, if you're using the quick reply form.)

    2. If the thread is long and the post you want to reply to is on another page. open the thread in a new window and switch back and forth between them. (Netscape has the option to open in a new window. IE requires you to minimize the window you're using and then it will open a second window without closing out the first. (Not too intuitive, but that's Microsoft for you.)

    Hope that answers your question.

Glad to hear you're keeping ahead of those pounds. It's not a lot, but it's going the right direction.

Kaylets--yay on that size 14. I'd like to be a size 14, but that's going to be a while.

Lauren, have a great vacation. If you take any pics of the beautiful New England fall, post a couple so we can enjoy it, too.

Kathy, I loved driving with the top down when we had our Spyder. I'm glad you're still enjoying Curves. You're doing great.

Great going, April. 10 pounds is a real achievement. And one size pants, that still needed taking in. Wow!!

Here's a dance and a party for all of us successful turtles:

I'm doing OK. I've been staying off the scale, though, so I can only say that my pants are a little looser. Not much, but I'll take whatever.

I'm trying different things, like oatmeal and fruit for breakfast during the week. (On weekends my dh cooks breakfast, so I eat what he makes.) I'm still eating my veggie-bean soup at lunch. My main goal right now is to get some walking in and make healthy choices in my food plan. It's baby steps, but that's where I am right now.

The rest of my life is OK, but it will be much better once I get an email or phone call from my youngest son. He doesn't have a phone yet, and until he starts classes, he won't have Internet access. I want to know that he's settling in OK.

    Happy turtlin'!

  • Hi Turtles,

It's an overcast day here & it's been raining on & off the last few days.

I have been doing good this week being OP. I am learning new eating habits & am able to say no most of the time when someone asks me if I want something high fat.

I remember from an earlier post...LaurenH said she had lost 95 lbs. in 4 1/2 years. I figured that out & that is 1.75 lbs. a month. It doesn't seem like much....but when the months becomes years....it is a lot. In the meantime you learn new eating habits & journalling your food becomes natural.....it isn't an effort to journal anymore.

  • Hello ladies!

Wow, I didn't realize that I hadn't posted in several days. Its been a busy week. Not the best food wise though. No excuses for it. It happened, its over and time to start again.

Yesterday was a busy day. I painted on our bedroom. Its a pretty light sage green. Very soothing. I mowed the front yard so I could sew grass seed. It was a beatufiul fall day and it felt great to be active. Felt great to be able to do all those things.

Today the inlaws came over to go to church with us and have lunch. DH fixed roast, corn and mashed potatoes. We also had pie for dessert. No evening meal for me!! I did walk one dog this morning and will take both tonight.

This week I added working with 8 lb handweights on three days. My boss has harassed me into walking with her and another manager at lunch. We start on Monday. I've tried to tell her that I have dogs that I walk so its not like I'm sitting around doing nothing. But I figure it will do me good - the only thing I worry about is the pounding on my feet. I've had problems with plantars fascia and have had surgery because of it. I have to be careful with the shoes to keep the pain at bay.

I bought the most beautiful mums this weekend. They are one of my favorite flowers. Now to just get them planted before they die!!

Lauren - Your DH will be in my prayers on the biopsy. Congrats on making it into the 170's. What you've accomplished is awesome. Have fun.

Everyone, have a great Sunday and start of a new week.

    TTFN!
  • Marvelous Monday!!
    Hello All!!

Just a quick early post --Need to stop at the Walmart on the way to work - need water and Pria bars !!

Painting a room!! And I was impressed that DH and I got the garage organized yesterday!!

And talk about Baby steps! That's exactly what we looked like doing "day1" on the Total gym- But we will know more tomorrow am and where will we be a month from now?? And yes, a year from now? When I look back 5 yrs, both DH and I were smoking, overweight and totally out of shape.
Now we are not smoking, losing weight and actually have an exercise plan. Small steps, some detours, some "heavy traffic" took us longer to get to our goals than we thought it should- but then again- perhaps we werent be realistic--

As Oprah always quotes from her mentor, Maya Angelou: " We did the best we knew how, we can do better now because we know better" ( Sorry, I don't think that's the exact quote, but I hope the meaning is there).

    Take care all!!
  • Hi, Turtles,

Time for a new thread. This one is getting way too long. See you all there.
