:carrot: :welcome3: We are the Turtle Group here at www.3fatchicks.com. We welcome you to join us as we work toward good health and fitness in a persistent manner. As our inspiration, we use the race between the turtle and the hare where the turtle was the victor because he didn't give up. We believe in keepin' on by using the skills and techniques we have learned from experience to keep us on track. We believe in giving each other support. Good luck to us all!

I had a binge on purpose yesterday. I also asked my dh to get rid of any "bingey items" still left when he went to bed. He didn't and in a juvenile display of pique, I actually ate some of the foods. I can't believe I am writing this!!!!! Well, I did. My rings don't fit today because of the high salt I ate yesterday. I feel so fat. Enough  I will start over. I've been tracking and had a great week last week. Now I need to repeat that---not take a break from "dieting". So, today I will get in the water, exercise, eat well, and track. How about you?

Whew! It feels good to get that off my chest. This Weight Watchers thing is a lifestyle change and I know that. Time to get cracking again.

:o Morning all

I know exactly where you are Judy I did the same thing over the past few days I had a great week and then pigged out on the weekend blah and it sux because I ate because it was there and for no other reason, well like you I am back on track today and fingers crossed will have a good week I'm not to hopeful for WI Wednesday though. I am my own worst enemy I bring junk into the house for hubby he loves his munchies and nevers gets fat :p lol but it doesn't mean I have to eat them as well.

Take care stay focused and keep safe everyone!

Julie:hug:

Itryharder 04-19-2010 08:22 AM

Morning Turtles,
Julie, that was such a great supportive message. Thanks! So glad you've joined us. Keep on track and keep on keepin' on! :goodvibes:

Today is looking like a good day. Lots of sun and I've got my head on straight. I'll get to my Wed. WI regardless of what the scale does.

Bandit, how's your vacation coming along? Hope you're having a good time and eating the way you want.

Good luck to us all!

NEWYEARNEWME 04-20-2010 10:46 PM

Afternoon everyone

Well I did WI today and even with my so so weekend I still managed to lose 400g so I am happy about that every bit counts and brings me another step closer to my goal.
Good luck with your WI Judy I have my fingers crossed for you.

Take care, live well, laugh often, love much.

Julie:carrot:

Itryharder 04-21-2010 05:37 AM

:goodscale: Julie! Weigh to go! :bravo: :balloons:

I have an  that we beat ourselves up too quickly and then I know I wallow in the nonsense that I'm supposed to do better. I know my food points have been high this week and I think I'll show a significant gain on the scale, but I also know with some deep thinking and action I can turn that around again.

Good luck to us all and congrats to Julie NEWYEARNEWME for your loss!
Judy

NEWYEARNEWME 04-21-2010 08:44 AM

Thanks Judy
I know what it is like to slip up and then beat yourself over the head about it but I have changed that way of thinking we can change it around and fix it it sisn't the end of the world and tomorrow is always fresh with no mistakes in it, so when we have a bad week just shrug it off and move on and get back to what we know we should be doing. ;)

Take care everyone

Julie:wave:

CherryAutumn 04-21-2010 11:00 AM

Welcome Julie! Looks like you and Judy are keeping the board going this week. Great job on the weight lost. I am not sure what 400g. is though. But it is great that you are going in the right direction.

Judy- I hear you. I have been there before.

My firtst official weigh in was yesterday and i will be truthful. I was disappointed i didnt lose a lot more being my first week on points. I went from 252 to 250.4 so i lost 1.6 pounds. I am going to try to add a little exercise this week and hope that helps.

Bandit- I hope things are going well for you.

Itryharder 04-21-2010 03:30 PM

Cherry, I am so proud of you! :goodscale: :carrot: :bravo:
You're doing it! You are actually losing weight. So glad you chimed in to let us know how you're doing.

I was up this week. Basically put on the 2.2# I had lost last week. It's okay, but I'd like to stop doing this. today is good, I'm tracking, and looking forward to losing weight again. Got in 1 1/2miles on the boardwalk and am looking at a nice sunny day.

Julie, thanks for writing and keeping this site going and Cherry weigh to go!
Bandit, how are you enjoying your :beach: and :tread:

Good luck to us all.

NEWYEARNEWME 04-21-2010 07:18 PM

Morning everyone

Cherry thanks for the welcome:hug: and 400g is nearly a pound I think congrats:carrot:on your disappearing 1.6 that is a good and steady weight loss which is more likely to stay off and never return, and any loss is a good one it means we are doing it and one more step closer to our goal. Good luck with the exercise:carrot:

Judy don't worry about gaining it could be a lot of things fluid is sometimes the enemy when we step on the scales and I'm sure your tracking and exercise will see you with a loss next week

It is a lovely day today and I am in a good frame of mind and starting a new week as my WI'S are Wednesday hope well all have a great day today and make good choice's ;)

Take care everyone

Julie

Itryharder 04-22-2010 08:02 PM

Hi Turtles,
Julie and Cherry, you're both doing great. Keep up the good work. :cheer:

Today has been a great day. Even though we ate lunch out, I was able to point it out and had a lighter supper. Have you tried the new Arnold Bagel Thins? They are one point each and really yummy. I had one with a Dr. Praeger veggie burger for 3 points total and I added a salad for no points to extend the meal. It's 8 o'clock and I'm not hungry, so that's a good thing.

Have a great day and we'll chat tomorrow! :goodvibes: and

CherryAutumn 04-23-2010 10:47 AM

Thanks for the encouragement ladies.

Do you ever sneak a peak at the scale when it isnt your official weigh in?:^: I am guilty of this. I dont count it as official and I try to keep in mind that it fluctuates from day to day. I am feeling good though because my weight is still going in the right direction.:carrot:

Itryharder 04-23-2010 04:23 PM

Cherry, sneak a peak once in a while? I weigh myself every morning and make myself nuts! There's mixed opinions about whether it's wise to weigh every day or not, so I figure do what you like and what works for you!

I am so pleased for you that your weight is moving in the right direction! :goodscale: :bravo: Keep up the good work.

Today my dh and I walked on the boardwalk and then ran errands and then stopped for a slice of pizza. Since I'm having beef for dinner, I decided to not have pizza and save the 6 points and have a salad (plain, no chicken) instead. I must say I am very proud of myself!!!!!

Bandit, how are you?
Newyearnewme, how are you?

I'm so pleased we're all doing well. A turnaround is great! :cheer:

Hi Turtles,
Cherry, yep, I weighed myself this morning and I got good news. The scale hadn't been budging, but this morning I showed a nice loss. Now my next mini-challenge will be to eat very carefully today. We are celebrating my dear son-in-law's birthday with Cheesecake Factory burgers for dinner. Even though I'm getting agreen salad instead of fries, I'm sure the calories and points will be high, so I'm planning the rest of my day around that.

NEWYEARNEWME, how are you doing? Are you in your autumn season now as we are in spring?

Bandit, how's that vacation coming along? Have you set up your trailer yet?
Good luck to us all. :grouphug:

:) G'day ladies

Not much to report I have had a few bad days eating going over points and haven't tracked for the last couple of days either but I'm back on track today and :crossed: I'll keep it that way. Yes we are in Autumn here and it is beautiful the tree's here downunder are lovely.

Take care everyone stay focused and keep safe

Julie

CherryAutumn 04-26-2010 11:28 AM

Weigh in for my hubby and I is tomorrow. If it doesnt fluctuate to much from this morning i will have a great loss this week.:carrot: If it does fluctuate I know it is just that, a fluctuation.

Julie- Great to hear from you. I am glad you are getting back on track today.:D I didnt even think about the fact that it is Autumn where you leave and here in the middle of the U.S we are in the middle of Spring. Wow.

Judy-Good to hear you are planning your day around your bigger meal. Keep on keepin' on.

Bandit- Hope things are going well for you.

Itryharder 04-26-2010 06:13 PM

Hi Turtles,
That's why we're turtles, NEWYEARNEWME! Weekends are tough, but somehow we gather ourselves up on Monday and get right back on track. You're doing great. Just keep on keepin' on!

Cherry, love your attitude. I hope the fluctuation cooperates and that you'll get a :goodscale: WEigh to go. Let us know.

Today was a wacky day, but I think I'm okay with points. Drove my dh to three different dentists when we hadn't planned any of it! Crazy, but these things happen. So starving by the end of it, I ate a lot of food quickly, but I'm counting on flexible restraint to get me through the evening.
Good luck to us all@

I think maybe my First Week weigh in was delayed till week 2.
Weight Lost:
5 Pounds
:carrot::carrot::carrot:
I was expecting around 3 pounds so 5 was great. Now to keep on keepin' on in week 3. Hubby did good with -4.6 this week.

Hi everyone - I'm back & thrilled to see a new member and have Cherry posting again.

I skimmed through the posts & sounds like everyone is doing great.

CHerry - awesome loss for you!

Judy - you've had your ups & downs, but as always - perservered and back on track, great!

NewYearNewMe - welcome to our group!

As for myself - been on holidays and enjoyed time spent at home, as well as away with my cousin. It was so nice to relax at hotel, watch movies, sit in hot-tub, walk & go to the casino. Ended up - we came home with more $$ than we started with and had lots of fun.

Got in a 2 mile walk yesterday & that felt good.

Keep up the good work, ladies!

NEWYEARNEWME 04-27-2010 09:04 PM

G'day everyone

Cherry that's an awesome amount to lose YAY to you :congrat:

Bandit thank's for the welcome it sound's like you had a lovely break and isn't it good when you come home with extra $$.

I'm doing OK staying to points and did WI this morning and even with my few bad days still managed a 900g loss that is nearly 2,1/2lb roughly and also hit my 10% YAY :carrot: so I'm a slow and steady turtle lol ;)

Take care stay focused and keep safe everyone!

Julie

Itryharder 04-27-2010 09:39 PM

Hi Bandit,
So glad you had such a great vacation. Sounds like lots of fun! As far as my getting back on track: well, I wish I didn't get off track so easily, but I'm dealing with that. I've been on :tread: 6 of the 7 days this week for one and a half miles per day, so I'm proud of that.

Cherry, weigh to go! :goodscale: :bravo: :carrot:  :dancer: wow!
That is an amazing weight loss. I am so proud of you and happy that you have perservered. It looks like this is your time to lose weight. You go!

Newie,
Always good to hear from you! Thanks for joining us and keeping this site going.

Another good day today with being out and lots of food choices. In the winter, I hunkered down much more. Now I"m out running errands with dh and he loves to grab a slice of pizza. Today I had a bite of one of his slices and a Diet Coke, That took flexible restraint!!!!

WI tomorrow. Wish me luck.
Judy

Newie,
I posted before I saw your wonderful results at your WI. 2 1/2# is wonderful! Yay! :goodscale:  :cheer: :bravo: :dancer: :balloons:
Wow! That's a great loss. I remember you thought you might not have done too well, so it's great you didn't give up this week. Yay!
Judy

CherryAutumn 04-28-2010 01:51 PM

Bandit- Great to have you back and posting.

Julie - Wow 2 1/2 pounds down! That is great.:carrot:

Judy- That would have taken more than just restraint for me to take only one bite of pizza.:p I think i might have to be dead to show restraint in that area.;) Glad to hear you have had several days in a row of good on point days.

Weigh in day kind of turned into an eating spree.:o But i tracked everything and will keep on moving forward. I need to work in more water to.

Itryharder 04-28-2010 01:52 PM

Hi Turtles,
Hey, I've got good news too! :goodscale: for me and down a pound this week. My leader says to forget that I weighed less a couple of weeks ago, concentrate on what I weigh now, and keep on keepin' on! I can do this.
Hectic treat filled week where I had to use flexible restraint and it paid off. I'm getting exercise and that's always a good thing!

:goodvibes: to us all.

Welcome, Julie! Great to see someone here from Down Under. You're doing great!

Cherry, look at you go! :carrot: Woo-hoo!

Bandit, is that you in the picture? You're lovely!

Judy, you're still in onederland; weigh to go!

I've been MIA, though still posting over at Dotti's. Eating has been not so good this month. Well, most of the month it has been fine, but there have been enough slip-ups that my weight has gone up. I'm NOT happy about this. I think much of it is due to all the socializing -- my book group went to a weekend conference (which was outstanding) and brought way too many goodies, my parents like to go out to eat, etc. I need to learn how to handle these occasions better.

I'm still fitting into my clothes, but they're tight, and I hate tight clothes! I'm kind of scared, to tell you the truth, and I'm hoping I'm scaring myself back into full-time commitment. Because that's really what it takes for me to lose weight. Part-time won't cut it.

Have a great day, everyone.

Itryharder 04-28-2010 08:14 PM

Hi Turtles,
I wrote a message and the site was down and it got lost------but mostly I want to say a hi back to Lauren and to wish you :goodvibes: while you deal with the situations you're facing right now. Fun social occasions can be a kick! I know my dh and I are getting out more now and to him part of the fun is getting a "slice" as we say in NY. I've opted for a bite of his pizza and/or a salad instead and shaved off some points that way. Snug clothes aren't fun, but I know you can get up and over this!!!!!

Love,
Judy

bandit2 04-29-2010 11:39 AM

Hi turtles:

Judy - congrats on the weight loss. Your back on track & doing awesome.

Lauren - yes, that is me in the picture (taken Feb 2010) so fairly recent
and thank you for the compliment.

Cherry/Julie - hang in their, and success will come.

For me, I received a "6 week, no gain" certificate at my meeting last night.
I find that is the hardest thing to do - even though I didn't drop much - but just to go 6 weeks and not be up, so I was pleased with that.

Goal this week: walk 6 miles & stay within my points for the ENTIRE week!

Have a great day and so nice to see a new member & have our other ones back with us!

CherryAutumn 04-29-2010 01:02 PM

LaurenH- Just wanted to say HI. It is good to see you post.

Itryharder 04-30-2010 09:12 AM

Hi Turtles,
Cherry, really nice to see your slider moving down! :bravo:

Bandit, I love that idea of 6 weeks, no gain. That's my aim for this upcoming month. Good for you for earning your certificate! :cheer:

Julie, hitting 10% is one of the most important milestones at WW's. Weigh to go! You're on the right track and are an amazing turtle.

Lauren, are you clothes fitting a bit better now? I hope so!!!!

Yesterday I decided to step up my exercise. I walked on the boardwalk for my usual half hour mile and a half. then did toning exercises at home for 20 minutes and got on the :tread: for another half hour. Whew! I am proud.

Have a great weekend, everyone. For me that means being very careful with my points and using flexible restraint. I want to knock off as much weight as I can now because I'll be visiting my sisters in a bit and that'll be a week on the road. I like being with them, but the eating challenges are many. I'll have to plan ahead.

Lin S 05-01-2010 11:15 AM

Hi!

It looks like many of the MIA turtles have returned, including me. :D

Welcome, Julie. I'm the crazy lady who started this turtle thing many years ago. I've been having a tough time thanks to lots of emotional eating. My mom's been in intensive care for a little over a week and I've had job stresses before that happened that have made it difficult for me. My two biggest issues with my weight are stress eating and not really knowing how much food is "enough". Not what's the right portion size, but what's the amount my body needs to be healthy and the right weight for me.

I weighed myself and I'm back up to 215, which adds a point to my daily allotment. I don't want to be adding points unless it's because I want to maintain my weight. This is where the gain stops. I'm done with eating crazy. I've not eaten the way I've been this past couple of weeks in years. And that's not going to continue. I feel awful. Not beating myself up awful, but physically awful. I think my body is trying to tell me something and I think I need to listen and act on what it's saying.

It looks like you're all hanging in there and there's some weight loss going on. YAY for everyone! :carrot:

I need to make time to track--yay for my new iPhone. That helps because I can track when I'm not at home, which is a lot of the time these days, what with schlepping downtown to work and driving to the hospital--a 40-45 minute drive, one way, from home.

And I need to make time to post regularly. Posting helps because it keeps me honest and it gives me much needed support. And maybe I can help you all reach your goals, too.

And I need to make time to plan and cook my meals. Being extra busy and not cooking always derails my weight-loss plans because "grab it fast" food isn't as healthy or as satisfying, so I tend to overeat when I rush.

Those are my immediate goals-planning/cooking, tracking and posting. That should be enough to head me back in the direction I want to go.

Keep on turtlin'! :balloons:
:chef: :coffee: :comp: :write: :book2: :corn:

Itryharder 05-01-2010 03:26 PM

Hi Turtles,
Okay, I'm at peace now that Lauren and Lin are both back onboard! :carrot: to both of you because you add so much to this site. :bravo:

Lin, I'm sorry your weight has gone upward and I know that your stating your immediate goals will get you where you want to be. You are incredibly busy and I'm sending :goodvibes: for your mom during her time in the hospital. None of this is easy, and all of it is stressful. Know that :grouphug: and  are here for you. We all  you. I value your input and you've often set me off on a better track and I hope the rest of the Turtles can do that for you as well.

I'm having a good day. It's been busy, but I got on the :tread: for 50 minutes, had a good low point lunch out at a diner (eggwhite omelet with mushrooms and whole wheat toast) and am trying to save points for dinner since we're going to friends for dinner. Have already watched my grandson's soccer game-----he's five and the games are hysterical! The coaches pick up the kids and put them where they need to be on the field. Talk about cute! I made some Vita Tops from their muffin mix and bought the "tops" baking pans online. Tried the corn muffins and the bran/blueberry tops and love them both. Not too keen on the banana muffins--kind of an artificial banana flavoring, but that may just be me.

Also am bringing my pineapple/angelfood cake with some homemade strawberry preserves (2T. 31 calories) for dessert tonight, so that won't account for many points. I have to watch the appetizers and I have to realize that eating doesn't work for me just because I can't get a word in edgewise!!!!!! So many times I get shut out of the conversation, so I eat. I'll have to do something else. LOL

Okay, gotta run but I feel so much better that Lauren and Lin are back with us. Our Julie is from Australia and really determined to do well. Cherry Autumn is facing so many challenges and yet is seeing real results on the :goodscale: Bandit has already won a certificate at TOPS and I see a great weight loss in her future!!!!! As for me, I am determined to lose this weight and break through 189#. Send me :goodvibes:

Love,
Judy

Wow it is nice to see everyone back and new faces to.

Not doing good at all with my eating. I know i cant blame it on anyone but myself but getting ready for T.O.M has not helped the situation. I will try to keep posting through it though.

Itryharder 05-03-2010 08:45 AM

Hi TUrtles,
I'm running out the door to take my grandson to school this morning. Just a quick note. I have stepped up my :tread: Yesterday I walked 3.25 miles and I'm shouting with glee!!!!! Not that I'm too emotional or anything. My challenge for today is when I'm with my grandson, I tend to eat, a LOT!! Not today I've sweated too hard at the :tread: to go on the hunt for interesting food. I'll let you know how I come through the day!

Cherry, you're doing great. If you're eating off track, think of what you were doing only a day or two ago when you were so on track and do that again. You know that's what you want. You can do this! We all experience blips and that's what makes us stronger. Come on Cherry----you're worth it! Do the right thing for yourself.

Hey Bandit, Julie, Lauren and Lin, :goodvibes: to you all and I love reading about your experiences. I'm hoping for a :goodscale: at my Wed. WI>

well weigh in this morning. TOM was not nice to me this week but i really only have my (got to have) eating for my gain this week. I was up 2.2 pounds for this week. My hubby and I are going to start strong for week 4 today though.

bandit2 05-04-2010 01:04 PM

Hi turtles:

Cherry - we all have ups/downs but good you are starting next week with a goot attitude. Keep at it - thats all we can do!

Hope all you other turtles are having a good week. I have had a few outtings and feel find of bloated & tired. Just goes to show when you eat crap you feel like crap.

At least it has been nice & sunny up here the last few days, which makes it all seem alittle better in the big scheme of things.

Hang in there, ladies!!

Itryharder 05-04-2010 01:57 PM

Okay----here's to starting strong this week for everyone! :cheer: and :bravo:

All goes well today. Went to my writing group. small group. We write on site and then read our work to the others. We comment on each others' work and it's usually very pleasant.

I feel harried today, maybe because the topic was about change and I don't like change. On the other hand, I am changing up my :tread: time and that's a good thing so some change works out well for me.

Take it easy, have a good day.

Cherry, I'm past TOM and my hormones don't fluctuate as much as they did.
That said, don't let this gain throw you off since you know where it comes from. You and dh are doing very well and you'll have a:goodscale: this upcoming week.

G,day turtles

I have been AWOL for a couple of days haven't had a good week did WI today and I am hiding in my shell at the moment I regained the 900g that I lost last week. I have given myself a good talking to and it is a start of a new week for me so next weeks WI will be better I aim to move :ebike: more and drink more fluids which is always a problem for me. It is good to see you lovely ladies back with us.

Take care stay focused and keep safe everyone!

Julie :grouphug:

Itryharder 05-05-2010 07:26 AM

Hi Turtles, it's another beautiful day here in NY. We've had rain and overcast skies lately so it's good to see the sun.

Yep Julie, gains are a part of most people's weight loss journey. It's so easy to beat ourselves up. (I am still trying to knock off the weight I put on fast and assumed would come off fast. Not fun but I'm hanging in there and this has been a good week. I like Bandit's challenge of not gaining over a 6-week period. ) So, I'm sending you :goodvibes: and :dancer: to help you stay on track this week. When times are tough and you're not doing what you want to do, chime in here and say it. Lots of us find that simply writing it down makes us look at what we're doing and change it. Hope this helps. Good luck on the fluids and staying focused. We can all do this!

I'll be at my WW mtg. very soon and am hoping for a good WI. I've had a great week, much more exercise and much less food so wish me luck!

Itryharder 05-05-2010 12:29 PM

Hi Turtles,
I really made another effort this morning and walked on the :tread: for 30 minutes and did toning exercises for 20 min. before my WW WI. I got a positive result of losing 1.8# this week. Yay! Of course I wanted to lose 30# this week since I'm working so hard, but that's just wishing. LOL

I am .6# away from my lowest recent weight and am planning on keeping up the good work this week. Move more, eat less! I read a tip from naturally slender people. They said that although they might get hungry, nothing horrible happens and it's okay to be hungry once in awhile. In all honesty, I have been "afraid" of being hungry----I don't like the feeling---but I am trying to put this little thought into action. Lots of challenges this week, but Mother's Day will be here and that means I am in control of the food. Yay!

Gotta run and walk a bit more. Talk soon.
