Thursday's Thread

Starting Thursday's Thread by posting a poll for Jayne so she's not so embarassed by her not-a-girdle. :)

aaronsmom 08-08-2002 09:13 AM

Oh did I open myself up for this yesterday or what? :)

Once again, I was able to do Miss Jen's running program this morning...that's three mornings in a row. I WILL BE the woman in the Nike commercial (or I might die trying!) and I will also be 125 lbs and wear t-shirt dresses and hooker shirts! I'm afraid I'm going to dress like a complete slut when I'm at goal, just to flaunt it!

I need to get Aaron down for a nap and get my sweaty self into the shower, so I'll bbl...

The Little D 08-08-2002 09:16 AM

This board makes me feel so welcomed here!
I love it!

I confess - I ate in the middle of the night last night. Bad, bad me.:nono: All I can do it pick myself up, dust my self off & try again.

I did get 2 walks in yesterday - which was way cool.

The salmon was yummy & I baked the pound cake & made the custard for the trifle. I guess we'll have some of that tonight. I'm trying to make it as low fat as possible.

Tonight for dinner ... what to have! Maybe grilled chix over romaine & green leaf lettuce. Yum. Some croutons, and lite balsamic vinaigrette. There you have it! I'm boring ... I know ... anything else gets me into trouble.

I finally called the insurance company of the girl who caused the accident (2 weeks ago) MYSELF since I'm getting no response from her. The will call me today to set up and appt. to look @ my truck. Meanwhile I've got to get it to my bodyshop to get an estimate.

I'm going to get going. I decided to take advantage of one more day of my "school schedule" (even though I'm done) and go into work later. :smug:

So ... how are we all doing out there??? Good morning, Twenty Somethings!

Belle2000 08-08-2002 09:37 AM

Howdy girls

I am i totally early today so I can go and get b/f's sister at the airport at lunch. I will be about a half hour late, so I figured I'd make up the time in the morning, which is dumb b/c my boss isn't in to witness it...you know?? Oh well.

Jayne - Sigh I wish Icould run....my physiotherapist is worried about my fractures and said no running for a while longer - in fact, I probably made it worse by running in the first place. So that sucks. Good for you!! Don't be embarassed about the shaper.....though I don't have one, I would if I had extra $$ kicking around.

Well, I decided to take bellydancing in the fall - has anyone done it? I hear its very fun....

Morning Deb - it is addictive here, eh? I miss the board when I am gone....

Well, speaking of which, back to work. don't know if Ill write later, but if not, then I'll write tomorrow after WI...dread WI b/c its TOM on the weekend, and I feel all blaoted and gross, but I am sucking it up and going to WI......(insert Rocky theme)

Jen-L 08-08-2002 09:48 AM

Hey all... One day till Friday!!!

Belle, I have 2 bellydancing videos. Have done them a couple times. It is hard to do videos with a toddler. She kind of gets in the way! I have to make times on the weekends when she is napping!!!

Jayne, you seem to get so much done while Aaron is around. I hear other SAHM's complain they can't do anything because the baby demands so much time. I don't know. I am able to do stuff (on weekends) when Emma is hanging around. Hmmm...

OK, back to work...

TonyaLyn 08-08-2002 09:52 AM

Good morning ladies!

Another beautiful day here in Wisconsin! :)

Today is my Friday today. DD and I are going school shopping tomorrow, so no work!! Yippee!!

I have been OP all week, and it feels great! I also took a power walk after work yesterday and felt invigorated! Going to do it again this afternoon. My Firm tapes should be coming in the mail today, I can't wait to give them a shot. I am sure I will be a pile of mush on the floor the first time around. No pain No gain!!!

We are so glad to have you here Deb....the more the merrier!!

Jayne ~ I have a weird feeling we have a lot in common, not sure why....maybe our weight issues. I was always thin in school too, and didn't pack on the pounds until I had children. But, like Jen said, they are worth every pound!!

Hi Belle ~ So glad you could check in with us this morning...we miss you when you aren't here!!

Jess ~ I am so glad you post often, if I had to actually work at work, I would go crazy!!

You know, since we have several new people in the last few months, why don't we each post a little bit about ourselves.

ME ~ I am married (6 years) to my DH, have two children, DD 7, DS 4, I am a computer software instructor at a local university. I live in a small town in Wisconsin (pop. 10,000). Started the weight loss journey in August 1999 and still working at it. I am 31 years old (geezzz!). Let's see, something you might not know about me....humm....I used to be a fitness instructor at a health club.....:)

Ok, how about everyone else??

tilley 08-08-2002 10:02 AM

Wow ladies.... tons of posts.

Jayne - i"m glad you liked the quesadillas... I love them. Wow - you are running godess. Nike commercial here you come.

Jess - as for the girdle-thing... I used to own one when I was bigger... but I never wore it because... all it seemed to do was push the fat from one area and push it to another area where it would bulge out of my clothes! So it never helped me look any better anyway. I put no, becuase I don't own one any more... although, maybe I should - I'm sure some of my outfits would look better if I held things in place a bit.

Deb - these late night snacks... are they right before you go to bed? Also... plan fo them... save like 3-4 points and have something yummy and low-point like a skinny cow ice cream sandwhich or something.

Belle - good luck at WI. At least you'll know it's just TOM if you're up.

Jen-L - belly dancing, huh? I coul;d never... I think my belly dances on it's own every time I move!!!! :) SOunds fun though.

Tonya - awesome on staying OP all week... my WW week starts TUesdays, so so far so good. I didn't know you were a fitness instructor. That's so cool!

Lisa

Jen-L 08-08-2002 10:26 AM

Lisa... Hubby likes to watch me belly dance!!! Tho I am not very good at it. It does make you feel kind of sexxy tho and is good for your abs.

Belle2000 08-08-2002 10:29 AM

BELLY DANCING.....WOO HOO

My b/f is dying to see me bellydance too - he makes references to it all the time.....he is excited for me to start. Sadly, I can't convince any of my friends to go with me. Too bad none of you live in Calgary!!

Oh well....Belle

JKarr 08-08-2002 10:41 AM

Here I am!!

Sorry I have been MIA... school starts on Monday and I have been really trying to get the little things in my life in order before that. I am getting really nervous... :dizzy:

I hope everyone is doing well!! It's amazing how a week away from here makes you feel so out of touch. Tonya's idea to post a bit about ourselves is a good one. I sometimes feel like with all the new people that come around, that I forget everyone's "story"!

Me - I am 29, single and work as a corporate paralegal. I start law school on Monday in the evenings! I joined WW in April of 1999 and reached goal in September of 1999 by losing 30 pounds. I have maintained for almost 3 years now, but it is still sometimes a struggle. I live in Chicago (near Wrigley Field) and absolutely love it!! I have been skydiving a few times and love taking cooking classes!

As for running, there is a big corporate race tonight that I am doing. It is only 3.5 miles and the weather today is perfect, so I am really looking forward to it. When I got my info., the directions tell you where to start depending on your pace. Well, there is the "racer's start" and the "non-competitive start" and my pace puts me in the racer's start!!!! I was so happy and immediately called my friend and said, "you're right - I am a runner!!" :D

I'll try to come back later and post to everyone individually so I don't appear so selfish!!

LoriD 08-08-2002 10:58 AM

Hi everyone-I am here! Had an awful day yesterday-I ate a piece of chocolate cake! But it was sooo good! Tonight I am having dinner out in Boston near FEnway with a friend of mine-need to stay low points b/c WI tomorrow...the good news is I ahve been to the gym Monday, Tuesday and Thursday so far this week-three aerobics classes and a powerlifting from **** class-the class is completely masochistic!!!

I own a body shaper-I am with Lisa tho-I don't think it helps except to move tha fat elsewhere!

I always wanted to try bellydancing! Belle-I wish i lived in Calgary!

Jen good luck in school!

About me-I am 30:(, a full time family practice doc who delivers babies. i work in a federally funded community health center in massachusetts! I am recently married to a great guy and we just bought a house which we are constantly working on! He is from Chicago so we go there a lot, and i am from NY-we go there alot too! And we are getting a puppy in November!

Hi to everyone else:)
Lori

Horsey girl 08-08-2002 12:28 PM

Hi everyone - it's my last day at work for a couple of days, i'm off for my sister's wedding - it'll be soo much fun. I got fake nails last night and I'm not used to typing yet.

Belle/Jen - I've always wanted to Bell-E dance. That was a bit of a groaner but I thought it was funny. do either of you have the outfit?

Jess/Jayne - girdle-o-mania - the one I bought smooths out my hips and thighs in the same way control top pantyhose would because the dresses lay and show every ounce of fat on my body. With the "shaper" can't see and no funny feet in my pretty sandles.

Deb - sounds like a great dinner idea - very creative.

Tonya - way to stay OP! Have fun shopping tomorrow.

Jen - you are so close to school, are you excited?

Lori - I keep forgetting you deliver babies for a living - that's what I want to do!

ME - While I'm currently doing administrative work at a University - mostly just cause the pay is soo good - I'm on a wait list to go back to school to become a registered nurse. I'd like to eventually get my midwife certificate or maybe work in a remote area as a nurse practitioner. I've lost 75 pounds in the past 16 months on WW and I have about 17 more pounds to go - Hopefully by Christmas I'll be at goal. I LOVE THIS SITE! and all the support that comes with it.

The Little D 08-08-2002 01:42 PM

My friend has a "girdle" but being so young, she calls it a "slimming unit". She's funny ...

A bit about me: I'm 26, single mom (OK - I live w/ Jeremy's dad but I'm not happy & looking @ places to buy but he doesn't know that ... yet - so in my world I'm single, I just keep myself very busy w/ work, school & Jeremy), I'm a Grad student going to school to become a Registered Dietician, I have a BPS in Hospitality Management, I've been doing WW forever, have been successful for the most part at it, I really enjoy working out: running, walking, spinning & weight training. Although I've slacked over the summer due to the 2 classes I was taking. I can really beat myself up when I don't stick to Program. The personal issues in my life have not helped, and I tell myself that this "struggle" would not have been given to me if I could not handle it. :p
Jeremy is 5, and I'll try to post a pix of him today.
I'm training for the Avon 3DayNY Breast Cancer walk. It's October 11-13, and I'm trying to fundraise my butt off. It's not easy ... I'm starting to stress that I won't make the minimum necessary to walk.
I work 2 jobs - full time Admin Asst. for NYIT (I get to go to school for FREE) & they have a mansion on campus and we have & do catering for meetings, private events, weddings, etc and p/t bartending in catering. I've been in catering for over 10 years ... I just can't seem to get away from it. I've done just about everything in the industry - I've become a very well-rounded employee (no pun intended).

As far as my midnight snacking ... this isn't just "snacking" this is anything & everything that I don't eat during the day. During the day I can be totally OP, and not even want the junk, and at night it's like a subconscious thing that "it doesn't count" - no one else knows, they're sleeping. I THINK I've got it figured out, I just need to break the HABIT! STOP THE INSANITY!

Enough about me ... this was supposed to be general, right?

I just love these little smilies - can't you tell.

Tonya - I am dreading school shopping for Jeremy. He is 5 & wears a boys size 10! Nothing fits him right. I hope he slims out - we're going to register him for Karate and that's 2x a week.
But have fun! Girl shopping is so much more fun anyway. The clothes are much cuter.

KT - Congratulations on your loss. I just finished up some pre-req classes and MOST of the people in the classes were Nursing students. My best friend is an RN and she loves her job. Sometimes I hear about how much she really does, and it's more like SHE'S the doctor. If/when I have another, I would like to go the non traditional route w/ a midwife & birthing center maybe.

Lori - What a challenge! Delivering babies - kudos to you! And way to go on getting to the gym. Enjoy your dinner tonight.

Jen (JKarr) - Good luck w/ school. I've got a month off & then 2 classes for the Fall. I love to run in the Fall, Winter & Spring - in the early morning or late at night (not too safe). Have fun today! And YES - you ARE a "runner" at any speed (us slowpokes have to tell ourselves that).:cb:

My friend & I were going to take Belly Dancing lessons, but couldn't find anything local on LI. She did buy some tapes, but really didn't do anything with them. I'd like to take actual lessons. I would go w/ you Belle!

Sorry if I missed anyone ... this post is getting lengthy ...

Horsey girl 08-08-2002 01:54 PM

Deb - I used to do the exact same eating thing! I found the better I ate during the day, the less likely I was to overeat at night. I always made a point of eating a good dinner too so I wouldn't be feeling hunger pangs. If all else fails, I keep red liqorice in the cupboard - low fat and yummy!
KT

The Little D 08-08-2002 02:08 PM

KT - I eat EXCELLENT during the day, if I plan I usually stick to it - im not a junk/crappy food eater (except for Pizza). It's so frustrating ... I found this quote somewhere:
"If you could kick the person in the pants responsible for most of your trouble, you wouldn't sit for a month."
--Source Unknown

I've just got to think of what I want most out of staying OP - which means I've got to think about this constantly until I've conquered this habit - my leather jeans in the closet.

I have a short term goal to loose 5 lbs by 8/23 before a camping trip I'm going on. I'm down 1 lb already.

I've also started journaling here also ... on the weekly food journal thread. Aye-yae-yae!
