Hello!

So many posts already! Let's see if I can respond to everyone before I start gabbing about myself!

Kirsty - I would love your job! I am such a science geek! My degree is in Biology but somehow I never worked in the field and over time, found myself in the legal field... not sure how that happened, but I'm happy!

Lori - I am with everyone else - there is no way you really gained 4 pounds. After my 10 days in Italy, my scale also showed a 4 lb. gain, but it was gone in 5 days. So try not to worry about it... I hear you though - somedays I just want to be able to eat what I want and not think about it.

Kier - Congrats on the decision to go to grad school! I waited 7 years to go back to school (I start in 4 weeks!) and it never gets easier, so do it now! Student loans stink, but at least the option to borrow the money is there for us so we can go to school. Yeah, ask me how I feel about that in a few years when I am $80K in debt from law school!!

Jess - I loved your PC definition of Booty Call! I'm with Winter - if I had to explain it, it wouldn't have been so nice!! Let us know how the new meeting goes tonight...

Lisa - I laughed out loud when I read your post because my inseam is 34 inches!! So, now you know why I run a lot - I am all legs! We would look awfully silly next to each other, huh?! My legs are probably almost as long as all of you!

Winter - I'm glad someone thinks like me! My description of "booty call" wouldn't have been so nice either!

Tonya - Good to hear from you! Where are you going in Indiana? (I grew up about 5 minutes from Indiana) Have a great time!

Belle - A black tie event? How fun!! I love dressing up and connot resist a good looking man in a tux! Have a wonderful time!

Lexxy, where are you?!

As for running, if a few of us are interested in a running challenge, I will set one up. I taught myself to run and remember the days of only being able to run for a few minutes at a time, so I know it is possible to overcome. Let me know if you're interested and I'll come up with something...

I'm already excited for the weekend. I am going to a huge block party that is held downtown here every year. In fact, about 65 couples over the years have met there and gotten married and Oprah even featured it on her show one time about one of the best places to meet people! I am going with a group of girlfriends and TB , so I am not planning to meet anyone, but I am so excited because the BoDeans are playing and they are one of my VERY FAVORITE bands (aside from U2!!) In fact, the first time I ever saw them was in 1987 when they opened for U2! (Did I just make myself seem really old by putting the date in?!)

Be back later!!

tilley 07-17-2002 10:57 AM

Winter.... sounds a little like the Twilight Zone to me! I hope your day gets less weird.. although weird isn't boring at least!

Jess-   I was laughing so hard when I read your post. Actually I used to be in the same boat.... my boobs have gotten depressingly small since I've lost weight. They were D's and now they are B's :( But before I would wear a really tight sports bra and sometimes hold my chest while I ran... so I just stopped running!

Belle - I love carrot cake! And cool aboutt he dress from 5 years ago - that's awesome.

Jen - well I did exaggerate a little... my inseam is 25 inches... but still way short... wow a 34 inch inseem.... what I would give... the block party sounds fun. I wanna go!!!!! Boston needs one of those.

TonyaLyn 07-17-2002 11:56 AM

Winter and Jen,

I will be in Attica, IN. I think it is about 1/2 hour from Lafayette. 3 hours south of Chicago. I hope I don't kill myself, thank god for helmets!! :)

Hello, Again!

I'm fidgety today. I'm like Winter--too wound up to concentrate on work! Just finished another delightful lunch that I brought from home...

Cat--I think you were posting at the same time I was (the first time). All of you students make me miss college. :( I dropped out after my second year and I really wish I would have finished. My work has a great Education Assistance Program, but I don't think they'd pay for me to go finish my Graphic Design degree.

Lisa--What is your degree in? Your job sounds like something I might enjoy and maybe work would pay for. You're lucky that your boobs have lost weight. Mine are still the same size as when I weighed 201. I just look all funny and disproportionate. I'm seriously considering a reduction, but I want to wait until I reach goal and have been there for awhile. I'm like you are with the cupcakes. If I have something like that in my apt, I'll eat it. All of it. I'd like to make some low-point cookies to have around, but I know that I'll show no signs of stopping if I start eating them. They'd be OK if it were just one or two low-point cookies, but it would end up being the entire batch. I don't have much willpower when it comes to stuff like that. I do, however, have willpower to just keep it out of my house so I'm not tempted. Sometimes, that really sucks, like when I'm dying for just one piece of chocolate or just one devil's food cookie... I haven't met the new leader yet, but I did email her to let her know I'd be coming tomorrow. She emailed back and seems really nice and eager to have me there.

Winter--You sleeping with sunglasses on just cracks me up. You remind me a lot of myself when I try to sleep--I won't get up for anything. But, aren't you glad that you can have a wierd day without having to worry about the other people it might affect (husband, kids)? That's one of the beauties of being single--you can do stuff like that. :D

Belle--How do you strap your boobs down? I wear two bras--a snug underwire and tight sports bra--but those floppy things just don't succumb to any kind of restraints. :) It sounds like you have a nice weekend planned. That's great that you fit into a dress from 5 years ago! You should feel great about yourself and not at all self-conscious. I'm sure you look fabulous in it!

Jen--It sounds like you have a great weekend planned too! Yeah, where has Lexxy been? She's missing, along with Jen-L and Grace, Grace (Becky)... Sad to see so many folks MIA.

Well, I can't htink of much else to yammer about right now. I'm going to read a little more of my book and then get back to work. Will stop in later (probably about 100 more times). :D

Belle2000 07-17-2002 02:17 PM

Intervening

Kier - cease and desist!! Code red! Code red!! :D Did that help?

Winter - he is a flatualent, licky 40lb dog (very lovable though) so I count that as a double workout!! Hee hee.....

Jen- I am into a running challenge, cool idea!! I'll be a bit behind everyone with my back injuries, but I'll do it nonetheless...

Lisa - is carrot cake bad...probably. I tried to tell myself it has veggies in it, so its more healthy, right?? Right? Anyone??? Oh well, now I am getting hot chocolate cravings (don't ask me why in 33C weather I want something hot).I am resisting as we speak.

I cna't believe Lisa you went from a D to a B. I went from DD to D38, sometimes C38 depends on the bra. But nothing that big.

Jess, I wear a speedo sports bra with a tank top that has a "support shelf" inside overtop. It's so tight my boobs are like cemented into my body, I swear. I get really sweaty though, I dont' like that (under all that strappage that is).

On the boob topic, I really hate the look of my boobs They are sort of tubular shaped. WhenI am at goal, if they aren't smaller I'll reduce them, and I will for sure move the nipple up and sort of re-shape them. My sister agrees she'll do the same after she has her kids. We hate the herediatry shape of them. With losing the weight, I have lost slowly so I don't notice skin saggage, but I moisturize religiously to keep the skin in the best condition I can....how paranoid am I?

Did you guys read in People mag about Carnie Wilson, getting all that skin taken off (and some liposuction while she was at it). Yikes. Something like 7 lbs of skin off her tummy alone. I am worried about that. But now I have only about 45 more to go, and since I am half way there and not too saggy, maybe I won't be effected (hope hope).

Well, back towork. My tummy trouble seems to be OK now (no frequent trips to the loo) so I think I'll stay at work this afternoon (anyway, the AC is nice, its hot as **** out there!!)

Kirsty - as soon as you have time, please post em - and what is the tube? the LRT?

Belle

Diamond7981 07-17-2002 02:21 PM

Hello all! Well, I only have a few minutes before I'm off to a test review, but let's see...

Lisa -- cupcakes are hard to resist! My roommate does the same thing somtimes, but usually 'im also helping feed the "dessert temptation" Good luck, and you can get back on track!

Lori-- well I think all the advice on the 4pound increase is right. Just fluid, but it does almost seem frustarting. It is good to know though that just drinking water can do wonders!

Winter-- a late "goodmorning!" I am not one to harrass an oversleeper (I'm the queen of sleeping late!) Those always seem to be the "disorganized" days!

Tonya-- have a blast dirtbiking! I've never tried it, but it sounds great. Nothing like being outside and doing something crazy
 OKay, well maybe becase I've never done it it sounds crazy!

Okay, well I had all intentions to write everyone, but I must run out the door in about three minutes. I will continue later!

I had WI yesterday and I was only down .2 pounds

:( I just thought I had lost more than that, but I guess the Ice Dream cone really wasn't the best ideae. I've come to the realization though, taht once I have more of a schedule (than one class and doing NOTHING all day) my activity will boost the weight loss.

And speaking of activity.. I had my job interview today. I think it went really great. I arrived in my business suit, and answered all their questions perfectly. They said that although he can't officially offer me the job, they're submitting my paperwork to "the boss" (whatever that means) and they'll let me know monday! I suppose if I'm approved, then I have it! ;) I'm pumped. It's perfect for me. And I think I made a great impression. My first real job interview!

Well, now I"m off to figure otu what on earth is on my Friday morning test. Okay, this "quantative statistics" is getting harder and harder. I don't think any math problem is worth 15minutes to work through!

Okay, I will post more later. Have a great day girls! and hello to all I didn't make it to :)

WinterGirl 07-17-2002 02:22 PM

It's all about me

and because of that, I'm going to be a bit rude and not respond to each of you.

I just found out that I won't be offered the Event Coordinator position and I'm quite disappointed. I'm trying hard to resist going to the cafe for a pizza which won't really make me feel any better. Instead, I got the trough of pop, that tub o'caffiene, the 64oz diet coke and intend to make a glutton of myself with it. I'm also thinking about trying to get a manicure or pedicure after work as a cheer-me-up and avoid the desire to raid my refrigerator at home.

Jess - have you tried an ace bandage? Not to sound insensitive but that's what my aunt did when she was pregnant with my cousin. A sports bra and then an ace bandage.

Jen - I'd love to be part of a running challenge. As you're probably aware I keep trying to get into it and can upon occasion run up to 3 miles but I have trouble staying with it consistently. I usually end up doing a combo of running and walking (which I really love).

BTW all - my name is actually Laura. Sorry I hung on to the alias for so long but I've never posted to a board before and it took me awhile to get comfortable.

Laura

tilley 07-17-2002 02:28 PM

Yes - my boobs shrank BIG TIME. I couldn't believe it either... i though a C surely... but I bought a C and it was too big, so i went to Victoria's secret for a fitting and she confirmed my fears - I was a B.... but a large B. In second skin satin I am a B, but in the angel bras, the B's are too small and I'm a C.... so it's weird.

Belle - keep moisturizing baby. I wish I had... and I'm just starting now... I bought this cream by Nuetragena that helps with skin elasticity... I can't remember the name but it's a white and silver bottle. But I do have a little bit of extra skin above my boobs.... but they're really not saggy though. It's like stretch marks above my breast... I'm bumming too.

i read that people magazine.... I'm worried too.... but I'd never be able to afford surgery... so hopefully it won't be too much of a problem... I've heard that the best thing you can do it tone and strength train. UGH.

Hope I didn't gross anyone out!

Lucy - congrats on the good interview. Let us know what you hear. Yes, cupcakes Confetti ones... MMmmm. Well, I found the nutritional info and they're 5 points for 1/12 of the mix.... but we made 20 cupcakes... so I'm thinking it was about 4 points... which wasn't as bad as I thought.

Talk to y'all later!

Lisa

Hi Laura - we were posting at the same time. Well nice to meet you Laura!!! I'm really sorry about the job position - definately pamper yourself... a massage works too! I love getting pampered - it feels great and no calories.... good for you resisting temptation... I hope you cheer up - really it's THEIR LOSS!

Belle2000 07-17-2002 02:58 PM

Laura - sorry to hear about the job, but Lisa is right. they just didn't see the best person for the job when they saw her :). Don't worry yourself about food - do something else to pamper yourself - even an at home pedicure works for me. Sending you happy vibes!!

Lisa - oooo, I'll try your cream. I saw some "firming cream" before that I thought of buying, but now that I am on the losing pattern again, I thinkI'll bite the bullet!! I guess we should get goin' on those weights (well, me, anyway, since you already do)...

Complainin'

OK, I have to take a minute to complain. Maybe yesterday I should have said that most days were bad, but there were a few good ones, instead of saying most days are good but there are a few good ones--I spend a lot of time *****ing about my job. :)

OK, first of all, let's identify everyone by using a letter. B is the office chatterbox who just got back from vacation. K is the lady in the cube across from me and constantly gossips about T. J is K's friend that she gossips with...

Now listen to this. B just got back from a 5-day vacation. She was gone Fri, Mon, and yesterday from work. She hasn't even been back 6 hours and she decides that she doesn't feel like working any longer, so she goes into the cube next to me to read for the next 2 hours. She's always claiming to stay late to make up time, but she just sends emails and sets the delivery time instead of actually staying the entire time. It just makes me SO mad that honest people (like me) are going to end up suffering because of her.

Then we've got K and J. They're always talking about T. I feel terrible for T, which is who they're ALWAYS gossiping about. T is a 44 year old divorced woman who's had a hard life and they're always talking about her and making fun of her (for her physical appearance and other things she can't help). They seem to think that they're a couple of catches. K has two kids and has totally let herself go since marrying her much younger husband. (Poor guy didn't know what he was getting into). J has 3 kids, is a chain smoker and is just plain white trash. They seem to think that they're so much better than poor T. Oh, I just get so mad about the BS level around here. Don't get me wrong, I do plenty of gossiping and goofing around, but I don't lie about what hours I work and I certainly don't make fun of people for things that they can't help. Arg, I get so sick of this place...

Enough of that, I gotta try to distract myself by thinking about something else.

Winter--My vote for how to pamper yourself is a pedicure. I tried to give myself one last night. Wasn't so successful... I have really rough feet and when I got a pedicure in a salon, they were really soft, but I just couldn't get them soft last night. Oh well, the paint job looks good. :D I'm sorry that you didn't get the job as the event planner, but ya know, sometimes things like that happen so you can get an even better job!

Kirsty--Yes, lots of reminder notes get written on my hand. Just make sure you get the ink off and don't sleep on your hand, or else you'll have a story like Lisa's REGIT...

Lucy--Isn't it disappointing only being down a little bit? But, you gotta think about how disappointed you'd be if you were up. A loss is a loss.

Belle--Yeah, the sweatiness under all the boob coverage is awful! I hate it. My back always hurts after working out, but there's nothing I can do. I may try Laura's suggestion of the ace bandage and see if that helps. YIKES! I never even thought about skin saggage! Scary! Good thing I'm not hardly losing right now, maybe my skin will shrink or something. And, like you, after I reach goal, the boobs are definitely going to have some major re-shaping and nipple-relocation. :)

OK, I'm going to work now. Don't want to lose my reputation as the only one who does it around here... (Bitter, bitter). :)

KO 07-17-2002 03:33 PM

Laura ;) hi and definitely nice to finally meet you don't sweat the job and resist the pizza a manicure and pedicure sound much more satisfying anyway! you are fabulous and its their tough luck I know these things :)
Lucy good luck girlie and same with the summer classes i'll be sweatin them out next summer! and your right about the lack of schedule hindering your food lifestyle choice i'm resisting the D word--btw are you in tally? (I live in north florida for 2 years )

Wow- the thread is busy today! So I am posting in order to not eat the mac and cheese I am thinking I would like. Definitely can't eat it because oh, guess what? I also had a cupcake today! Maybe it is just a cupcake day. So anyway, that was my splurge for the day nad now there is absolutely no way I am eating mac and cheese for dinner. It's terrible for you anyway, right? All that salt...

Jen- I would love if you organized a running challenge! Please please please! I think I would really be able o stick with it if I had some folks to be doing it with (even if just online). I tried running with my brother a few times, and he is just way to fast for me (I guess that's why he ran track in high school!). And everyone I know now who runs has been doing it for AGES so I am really a wuss in comparison.

Jess- your cube situation sounds like a real pain! Maybe you should look into what sort of degrees your job will pay for so you can get one and be promoted and be the boss of the cube *****es:s: Or just get moved away from them entirely. Sounds like you handle it way better than I would. I think in your position I would have either totally lost it and screamed my head off at them, or totally lost it and slapped someone. I have a bit of a temper at times....

Belle- AWESOME about the dress. And yeah, a farting dog is definitely a double workout! Carrying him is great for your arms, I'm sure. I'm not going to be able to have a dog this fall, much as I would like one. They are so sweet and a great way to ensure frequent exercising!

Laura- A pedicure sounds like an excellent pick-me-up. And like Lisa said, it is their loss.

Lucy- Down is down. Maybe not so nice as a 2 or 3 lb loss, but still. If you aren't gaining and you aren't maintaining, it's all good in my book!

Oh, I noticed some carrot cake lovers on here. Count me in! My mom has tinkered with her carrot cake recipe a bit so it has about half the oil and uses half whole wheat flour. It's actually better than it was before. I will see if I can find the recipe and figure out the points for the improved version next time I am home. Although yeah, if the whole cake was around, I would eat it too! One thing I do sometimes is if I am really craving some chocolate, there is a grocery store just up the street, and they sell those individually wrapped lindor truffles (I think that's what they're called, can't remember for sure). Anyway, I will buy just one and it is REALLY good chocolate, and the walk up there probably cancels half of it anyway. But I really can't have sweets around or I will eat them all!!

Cat

JKarr 07-17-2002 04:49 PM

Ok, since a few people are interested, I will come up with a running challenge and post it tomorrow. I am going to think of something that will work for people of various abilities, so no one gets discouraged! ;)

Laura - It's so great to know your name! :D
