Hump Day thread
Jess - great poll yesterday. So interesting to see what everyone does. I work on a weekly science magazine (it's international, so keep your eyes peeled for New Scientist!). i'm a subeditor, so i get to check spelling, grammar and all that, but since it's mostly science and technology stuff, i also have to rewrite large chunks of it. scientists are not the best writers, and tend to write very passively using lots of jargon! i like it, the people i work with are great and the location couldn't be more central, but as you guys know i'm waiting to start my dream job as a weather girl!
lisa - 1 pound is ok, better than 3! how's that REGIT?? ;) winter - fingers crossed on getting that job you went for. jenk - can't believe how good you are at running! i'm so jealous. i try and get into it every year (for my annual 5k) but i'm so slow at it. i might try again now the weather is nice, BF wants me to run round our local common with him. i wish i could!! kier - keep us posted on the boy situation. "dumping his arse"! classic. ok - someone explain "booty call" to me...i know the song... my party last friday was a blast. i drank far far too much, but mostly champers so didn't suffer too badly and remember most of the evening!! and the weather has picked up over here - sunshine every day since saturday. so it's been bbqs and lazing around. most enjoyable. BF's parents are coming to visit for a few nights. they're lovely so should be good fun, but i'm going to rush home and give a final tidy to the flat before they arrive! big hello to everyone else, boss hanging around checking out my screen. gotta run. kirsty |
Hi everyone-I am back from my mini vacation in NY-went to a wedding, and was planning my best friend's bridal shower with her mom nad the other bridesmaids. The bad news is, the scale today said I gained 4 pounds in 4 days!!! HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE??? It took three weeks to lose four pounds, and they come back in 4 days??!! Sometimes I get so fed up with the weight struggle-it has to be constant vigilance, day in and day out-does anyone else get tired of this and wish they could just ignore points and eat what everyone else does?? Ok, I am done...needless to say I am back OP and trying to do some damage control before WI on Friday...
As for yesterday's poll, I am a Family Practice physician-I work in a Federally funded nonprofit community health center...most days my job is ok, but to be honest, being a doctor is not what i thought it would be...If I didn't have all of these student loans I'd probably be doing something else!:) |
stale bagel burnt coffee THATS the breakfast of champions!
Usually its poptarts and coke-->my method for staying awake during exams
I couldnt get to sleep last night so i didnt get my cottagecheese or protien shake this am ARG so in deference to my bodies wants and needs Carb FEST! with a half cup of coffee today we're having a nice lunch Au bon pain and they have my fave salad which has basil and fresh mozzarella on it and a bunch of other healthy goodies Kirsty a booty call is erm when someone calls someone else (usually in the middle of the night but can be anytime) and they are looking for sex or indeed Booty Classy eh? Your job sounds great Hi Lori! HAve you ever thought about changing your type of medicine to something more affirming pediatrics or something? I know what you mean about the loans i'm going to get smacked with them when i'm done which might not be for a long time because *drumroll* I decided I wanted to go to Grad school I might be a big dork but i'm passionate about media theory and how it shapes exposes and defines society sooooo I might become a doc too ;) its not concrete I have to pass the GRE's first which i more than likely wont attempt till spring Anywho Darlins its back to work for me I HAVE BOOKS TO SEARCH! >capeflaps in the breeze< Love Kier PS i feel sooo dirty for being the one to define booty call lol but it must be done! |
Booty Calls
Good Morning everyone! Haven't even thought about working yet. The office chatterbox is back from vacation and I know I probably won't get anything done with her wanting to talk all day about her trip, so I really should be working, but I'm getting ready to proof something I re-typed and it's boring work.
I'm glad that everyone liked my poll yesterday. I've always wondered what everyone does, because you ladies all seem so sophisticated, I knew you had to have cool jobs. I was right! I have my first WI at the new meeting tomorrow night. I'm actually kind of excited, not because I think the weigh in will be a good one, just because I'm starting a new meeting. Maybe starting a new meeting will be like starting WW all over again and I'll get that brand-new motivation. Crossing fingers.... Kirsty--Booty Call... How best to explain this? It may have different meanings in different parts of the US, but here in Nebraska, it's when you meet a guy (or maybe know him already--sometimes ex's will do this) and he calls late at night (usually), drunk (usually), and wants to come over or wants you to come to his place. The reason he wants you to come over is because he wants to "spend time with you" (in the least innocent way possible). Lori--I wouldn't stress too much over the 4 lbs. I think when you put weight on in a short period of time (like 4 days), it also comes back off pretty quickly. I'm sure next week you'll be right back down, don't sweat it. Lisa--I loved your story about REGIT!!! I remember days when that would happen to me, back when I actually had a social life. :) I used to follow a lot of the local bands in Omaha and was always getting my hand stamped. For some reason, the only soap that would take off those stamps was the soap in their bathrooms, so I was always needing re-stamping. But once I got home, it was imposible to get that crap off! Well, while the chatterbox is still grumpy and waking up, I'm going to try to get a little work donehere. I'll check back in later! Have a great day! |
Hello hello. Just in from another impossibly long walk with the dog. That animal is just an exercise machine! Too bad she belongs to my housemate for the summer so I don't get to keep her during the school year!
Kier- I hear you on the stale bagel for breakfast bit. I was up all night doing stupid physics (I am going to be very glad when THAT is over-just 2 more weeks!), and then I am in no mood to think about a healthy breakfast. Usually I try to have fruit around so I can grab and go. Lori- Doctor...my mom keeps telling me to think about med school. I don't know though, all those loans you have to take out. A PhD seems like it would be much easier to fund:) Kirsty-cool job. I am a slow runner too. I keep trying to turn my walk into a run, and basically manage to do something actually resembling a "run" maybe once a week. Maybe the next challenge around here should be a running one? Ok girls, off to class for me! Cat |
Yes, REGIT is gone. whew. how embarrassing.
So, up a pound yesterday.... was doing excellent points wise. 4-point breakfast. 4-point lunch. 2-point WW bar snack. Swam in the morning and went to the gym last night. Then I get home and forget it. My roommate was done with exams so she made these confetti cup cakes! I had one before I even ate dinner. Then I had a 14 point dinner. So - I'm thinking the cup cake was at least 6 points... but I don't know. To make things worse... I woke up this morning and had a another cupcake... what a way to start the day. What's wrong with me! I need to get back into gear and fast! Kirsty - sounds like you're having a lot of fun lately. bbq's and lying around is my kind of summer. Yeah, a booty call is basically a call after 11pm, he's usually drunk, and asks "can I come over." It's quite pathetic... but it's usually quite funny. 9/10 it's ight when the bars close and he's on his way home and didn't find anyone to hook up with there... so he'll go through his phonebook in his cell phone. Lori - Yay. Good to have you back! Hope you had fun in NY. I'm going there next weekend and I can't wait. I doubt you gained 4 lbs.... you're prob just retaining fluid. I didn't know you weer a doctor!!! Wow.. doctor Lori. My dad is an internist. Wow, Dr. Lor! KO - Grad school.... congrats on the big decision. I know what you mean about carb fest.... I feel one coming on. I've been struggling lately. |
Hi Jess! We were AGAIN posting at the same time :) Good luck at WI tonight with your new meeting. How do you like the leader? A good leader can make ALL the difference.
Cat... running slow. Let me just paint a mental picture for you. I am 4'10" - my inseem is like 20 inches... so I am so short. At the gym I run on the tradmill, and I'm running. I look over and the girl next to meet will be going the SAME speed, but she's walking!!! I run like 5.0 - 5.3 miles/hr and I feel like such a goof. It's totally because of the length of my legs though. |
Weird Wednesday
Morning Girls!
I'm having the strangest day. Actually, the day isn't that strange - I'm just feeling strange. I slept more than usual last night (with sunglasses on all night and no I wasn't drinking when that happened), woke up late, had a shorter than normaly workout and just ate my lunch (pasta salad) for breakfast. Whatever! Kirsty - Glad you enjoyed your party Friday. I hope you enjoy the visit from BF's parents. And I'm really glad everyone else explained booty call because I wouldn't have been nearly so diplomatic in my explanation! Lori - 4lb's in 4 days? You would have had to consume 14,000 calories above what you needed to function. It has to be fluid retention. Push the water and you'll be fine. Kier - congratulations on making the decision to go to grad school. What a big step into the future that is. Jess - I'm glad you're excited about the new meeting. I'll bet with a new support system you'll find that "honeymoon" phase of WW in no time. Cat - I'm really impressed that you can take physics as a summer school class. I always thought summer school was so much harder (fewer classes and just as much work) so tried to take less strenous courses then. Lisa - Sounds like you're having the same kind of off week that I did at the start of the month. It is very hard to get back on track but you've done this before and are determined enough to do it again. Must work. Winter |
Good morning ladies!
Wow, you guys are such a busy group!! I have been busy at work and home and have just been lurking. As far as a job fo me. I teach computer courses at a University. Not as exciting as some of your jobs!! I am still waiting to develop the pics from my brother's wedding, I will try to get them done today at lunch and then scan them in. DH and I are off tomorrow thru Sunday and are heading to Indiana to go dirtbike riding. We are meeting up with our best friends from Tenneesee and New Jersey. It is going to be such fun! So, needless to say today will be quite long knowing that today is my last day of work for the week! I don't have time to properly post to everyone, but just know that I am thinking of all of you! I will try to stop back later! :) |
Lisa, you're probably posting right now, since we're ALWAYS posting at the same time... :D
I wanted to paint a running picture, too. I don't run slow, in fact, I don't run at all. If I were to do much/any running, I'd probably end up with a nasty concussion and two black eyes from my boobs bouncing up and pounding me in the face, no matter what kind of bra I wear. So, when you're concerned that you run slow, just be glad you can run without having to wear goggles and a helmet. OK, back to work!! |
aha - so that's what a booty call is! me and my friend thought it might mean phone sex. now we know the truth. :o
hi tonya, winter, lisa, cat, jess, kierie and lori!! maybe we should do a running challenge. perhaps our resident runner, jenk, could suggest targets to meet each week? like, first week: run 1 min, walk 1 min, repeat 10 times. try to do it 3 times a week. i dunno....any ideas? back to work for me. later, kirsty |
Howdy Ho!!
OK Winter, must know why oh why you were sleeping with sunglasses on. Do tell......!!!
Kirsty your job sounds like fun! I do a similar task - I dummy-down the oil and gas lingo. So like,I explain siesmic exploration, etc, to the landowners and regualar joes. Its not always easy b/c I don't really understand it myself, I just get the engineers to explain it to me in great detail, paraphrase, and if it makes sense to us both, I write it. Most of my job involves landowner relations and newsletters, open houses, etc. Some government relations as well. OK Lori, no WAY you are up 4 lbs in 4 days. You must be retaining some big time water girl! Were you eating lots of salt? I find in the deathly heat (its so hot there that chickens are dying of heart attacks) that I swell up and retain water.....that's a possibility!! Other than that, glad your trip went well. I am a brides maid twice in thenext few months and I am planning 2 showers and the stagettes all alone!! I am not even the maid of honor!! Kier - I love media theory too!! I have thought about getting my masters in communications, but I am just not sure it would do much for my career (its hard to go back once you are making $$ so do it now!!!) Good for you!! Jess - let us know how the first meeting is!! I WI tomorrow, though I am not really keen on it since I am on my monthly, and all swelled up from the heat....we'll see, I guess.... Cat - you'll have to buy a dog if you can have one at your apt.! I miss my dogs terribly, I try to go to mom's andwalk them once a week, but the old guy, Barney, he only lasts about 20 min before hestarts to limp. I end up carrying him home (40lbs)....yikes. Lisa - a girl after my own heart (so to speak) I do that too - b/f bought a carrot cake, had a piece, left it at that. Not me, I had a peice and the next morning, had a sliver and last night I was tempted again (but I have been kind of sick so I didn't). I think I need to chuck it to not eat it. B/f won't be all that happy if I do that.....I don't know why we do it. we just do. Tonya - let us know how the dirtbiking is! I have just re-discovered biking. Its fun (not dirtbiking though, too dangerous and after my rollerblading accident, I think I'll go the easy route!!) good for you!! Well, on the weekend b/f and I are going to a black tie event in Banff. Its a company thing (none of the execs or my boss could go so I ended up going) and its paid for. B/f has to rent a tux (he'll look awesome...) and I am wearing my old bridesmaid dress form 1997. I remember trying it on about a year and a half ago and it didn't fit - I couldn't even start to zip it - but it fits perfectly now. I was so happy....but Istill feel fat in it. Oh well. B/f really likes it and goes onand on about it. Well, I don't now if I'll go to WI tomorrow. Last week I missed (by no fault of my own) and now this week I am on a horrible TOM and I am all bloated andgross....I just don't want a huge let down if its up! I think about 2lbs at least....:( What do to.......? Well, have a good day girls, I should get some work done!! Oh, and Kirsty - where are the pics from Lolly's wedding????? Belle |
Jess - I have the same image of myself running - I do run,but my boobs are like STRAPPED down...its a nasty thing.
That was the best laugh I've had all week!! Belle |
sorry belle - will write a reminder note on my hand (anyone else do that?) and bring them in and scan 'em in.
hopefully tomorrow, but if not then def by friday. there's a tube strike in london starting 8pm tonight and finishing 8pm tomorrow night so i might have trouble getting to work. which means i may not get online v much...we'll see. |
I am really wound up today. I cannot concentrate on work for more than a few minutes at a time.
Tonya - I used to teach computer courses at a college too. Not the complicated database stuff you do but (back in the dark ages) things like Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc. I loved that job! Have fun this weekend. Where in IN will you be? Jess - Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa. I'm sorry that I laughed but it really was a very funny visual! Belle - It may only be a 20 minute walk but if you're carrying a 40lb dog it's still a great workout. The sunglasses thing is not nearly as interesting as it sounds. I was really relaxed after yoga last night and decided to spend some quality time with my couch. I turned on the TV but there was glare from the windows. I was too lazy to get up and close the blinds so I just put on my shades. I fell asleep on the couch and apparently was so tired when I crawled into bed that I forgot to take the sunglasses off because when I woke up this morning I was still wearing them. Now this time I really am going to work...I think..... Winter |
Hello!
So many posts already! Let's see if I can respond to everyone before I start gabbing about myself!
Kirsty - I would love your job! I am such a science geek! My degree is in Biology but somehow I never worked in the field and over time, found myself in the legal field... not sure how that happened, but I'm happy! Lori - I am with everyone else - there is no way you really gained 4 pounds. After my 10 days in Italy, my scale also showed a 4 lb. gain, but it was gone in 5 days. So try not to worry about it... I hear you though - somedays I just want to be able to eat what I want and not think about it. Kier - Congrats on the decision to go to grad school! I waited 7 years to go back to school (I start in 4 weeks!) and it never gets easier, so do it now! Student loans stink, but at least the option to borrow the money is there for us so we can go to school. Yeah, ask me how I feel about that in a few years when I am $80K in debt from law school!! Jess - I loved your PC definition of Booty Call! I'm with Winter - if I had to explain it, it wouldn't have been so nice!! Let us know how the new meeting goes tonight... Lisa - I laughed out loud when I read your post because my inseam is 34 inches!! So, now you know why I run a lot - I am all legs! We would look awfully silly next to each other, huh?! My legs are probably almost as long as all of you! Winter - I'm glad someone thinks like me! My description of "booty call" wouldn't have been so nice either! Tonya - Good to hear from you! Where are you going in Indiana? (I grew up about 5 minutes from Indiana) Have a great time! Belle - A black tie event? How fun!! I love dressing up and connot resist a good looking man in a tux! Have a wonderful time! Lexxy, where are you?! As for running, if a few of us are interested in a running challenge, I will set one up. I taught myself to run and remember the days of only being able to run for a few minutes at a time, so I know it is possible to overcome. Let me know if you're interested and I'll come up with something... I'm already excited for the weekend. I am going to a huge block party that is held downtown here every year. In fact, about 65 couples over the years have met there and gotten married and Oprah even featured it on her show one time about one of the best places to meet people! I am going with a group of girlfriends and TB , so I am not planning to meet anyone, but I am so excited because the BoDeans are playing and they are one of my VERY FAVORITE bands (aside from U2!!) In fact, the first time I ever saw them was in 1987 when they opened for U2! (Did I just make myself seem really old by putting the date in?!) Be back later!! |
Winter.... sounds a little like the Twilight Zone to me! I hope your day gets less weird.. although weird isn't boring at least!
Jess-   I was laughing so hard when I read your post. Actually I used to be in the same boat.... my boobs have gotten depressingly small since I've lost weight. They were D's and now they are B's :( But before I would wear a really tight sports bra and sometimes hold my chest while I ran... so I just stopped running! Belle - I love carrot cake! And cool aboutt he dress from 5 years ago - that's awesome. Jen - well I did exaggerate a little... my inseam is 25 inches... but still way short... wow a 34 inch inseem.... what I would give... the block party sounds fun. I wanna go!!!!! Boston needs one of those. |
Winter and Jen,
I will be in Attica, IN. I think it is about 1/2 hour from Lafayette. 3 hours south of Chicago. I hope I don't kill myself, thank god for helmets!! :) |
arg its soo hard to concentrate today i feel like such a shlump b/c my bagel this morning has mutated into a butter cookie and a reeses mini pb cups ARG i need some somethign! intervention
bbiab |
Hello, Again!
I'm fidgety today. I'm like Winter--too wound up to concentrate on work! Just finished another delightful lunch that I brought from home...
Cat--I think you were posting at the same time I was (the first time). All of you students make me miss college. :( I dropped out after my second year and I really wish I would have finished. My work has a great Education Assistance Program, but I don't think they'd pay for me to go finish my Graphic Design degree. Lisa--What is your degree in? Your job sounds like something I might enjoy and maybe work would pay for. You're lucky that your boobs have lost weight. Mine are still the same size as when I weighed 201. I just look all funny and disproportionate. I'm seriously considering a reduction, but I want to wait until I reach goal and have been there for awhile. I'm like you are with the cupcakes. If I have something like that in my apt, I'll eat it. All of it. I'd like to make some low-point cookies to have around, but I know that I'll show no signs of stopping if I start eating them. They'd be OK if it were just one or two low-point cookies, but it would end up being the entire batch. I don't have much willpower when it comes to stuff like that. I do, however, have willpower to just keep it out of my house so I'm not tempted. Sometimes, that really sucks, like when I'm dying for just one piece of chocolate or just one devil's food cookie... I haven't met the new leader yet, but I did email her to let her know I'd be coming tomorrow. She emailed back and seems really nice and eager to have me there. Winter--You sleeping with sunglasses on just cracks me up. You remind me a lot of myself when I try to sleep--I won't get up for anything. But, aren't you glad that you can have a wierd day without having to worry about the other people it might affect (husband, kids)? That's one of the beauties of being single--you can do stuff like that. :D Belle--How do you strap your boobs down? I wear two bras--a snug underwire and tight sports bra--but those floppy things just don't succumb to any kind of restraints. :) It sounds like you have a nice weekend planned. That's great that you fit into a dress from 5 years ago! You should feel great about yourself and not at all self-conscious. I'm sure you look fabulous in it! Jen--It sounds like you have a great weekend planned too! Yeah, where has Lexxy been? She's missing, along with Jen-L and Grace, Grace (Becky)... Sad to see so many folks MIA. Well, I can't htink of much else to yammer about right now. I'm going to read a little more of my book and then get back to work. Will stop in later (probably about 100 more times). :D |
Intervening
Kier - cease and desist!! Code red! Code red!! :D Did that help?
Winter - he is a flatualent, licky 40lb dog (very lovable though) so I count that as a double workout!! Hee hee..... Jen- I am into a running challenge, cool idea!! I'll be a bit behind everyone with my back injuries, but I'll do it nonetheless... Lisa - is carrot cake bad...probably. I tried to tell myself it has veggies in it, so its more healthy, right?? Right? Anyone??? Oh well, now I am getting hot chocolate cravings (don't ask me why in 33C weather I want something hot).I am resisting as we speak. I cna't believe Lisa you went from a D to a B. I went from DD to D38, sometimes C38 depends on the bra. But nothing that big. Jess, I wear a speedo sports bra with a tank top that has a "support shelf" inside overtop. It's so tight my boobs are like cemented into my body, I swear. I get really sweaty though, I dont' like that (under all that strappage that is). On the boob topic, I really hate the look of my boobs They are sort of tubular shaped. WhenI am at goal, if they aren't smaller I'll reduce them, and I will for sure move the nipple up and sort of re-shape them. My sister agrees she'll do the same after she has her kids. We hate the herediatry shape of them. With losing the weight, I have lost slowly so I don't notice skin saggage, but I moisturize religiously to keep the skin in the best condition I can....how paranoid am I? Did you guys read in People mag about Carnie Wilson, getting all that skin taken off (and some liposuction while she was at it). Yikes. Something like 7 lbs of skin off her tummy alone. I am worried about that. But now I have only about 45 more to go, and since I am half way there and not too saggy, maybe I won't be effected (hope hope). Well, back towork. My tummy trouble seems to be OK now (no frequent trips to the loo) so I think I'll stay at work this afternoon (anyway, the AC is nice, its hot as **** out there!!) Kirsty - as soon as you have time, please post em - and what is the tube? the LRT? Belle |
Hello all! Well, I only have a few minutes before I'm off to a test review, but let's see...
Lisa -- cupcakes are hard to resist! My roommate does the same thing somtimes, but usually 'im also helping feed the "dessert temptation" Good luck, and you can get back on track! Lori-- well I think all the advice on the 4pound increase is right. Just fluid, but it does almost seem frustarting. It is good to know though that just drinking water can do wonders! Winter-- a late "goodmorning!" I am not one to harrass an oversleeper (I'm the queen of sleeping late!) Those always seem to be the "disorganized" days! Tonya-- have a blast dirtbiking! I've never tried it, but it sounds great. Nothing like being outside and doing something crazy  OKay, well maybe becase I've never done it it sounds crazy! Okay, well I had all intentions to write everyone, but I must run out the door in about three minutes. I will continue later! I had WI yesterday and I was only down .2 pounds :( I just thought I had lost more than that, but I guess the Ice Dream cone really wasn't the best ideae. I've come to the realization though, taht once I have more of a schedule (than one class and doing NOTHING all day) my activity will boost the weight loss. And speaking of activity.. I had my job interview today. I think it went really great. I arrived in my business suit, and answered all their questions perfectly. They said that although he can't officially offer me the job, they're submitting my paperwork to "the boss" (whatever that means) and they'll let me know monday! I suppose if I'm approved, then I have it! ;) I'm pumped. It's perfect for me. And I think I made a great impression. My first real job interview! Well, now I"m off to figure otu what on earth is on my Friday morning test. Okay, this "quantative statistics" is getting harder and harder. I don't think any math problem is worth 15minutes to work through! Okay, I will post more later. Have a great day girls! and hello to all I didn't make it to :) Lucy:smug: |
It's all about me
and because of that, I'm going to be a bit rude and not respond to each of you.
I just found out that I won't be offered the Event Coordinator position and I'm quite disappointed. I'm trying hard to resist going to the cafe for a pizza which won't really make me feel any better. Instead, I got the trough of pop, that tub o'caffiene, the 64oz diet coke and intend to make a glutton of myself with it. I'm also thinking about trying to get a manicure or pedicure after work as a cheer-me-up and avoid the desire to raid my refrigerator at home. Jess - have you tried an ace bandage? Not to sound insensitive but that's what my aunt did when she was pregnant with my cousin. A sports bra and then an ace bandage. Jen - I'd love to be part of a running challenge. As you're probably aware I keep trying to get into it and can upon occasion run up to 3 miles but I have trouble staying with it consistently. I usually end up doing a combo of running and walking (which I really love). BTW all - my name is actually Laura. Sorry I hung on to the alias for so long but I've never posted to a board before and it took me awhile to get comfortable. Laura |
Yes - my boobs shrank BIG TIME. I couldn't believe it either... i though a C surely... but I bought a C and it was too big, so i went to Victoria's secret for a fitting and she confirmed my fears - I was a B.... but a large B. In second skin satin I am a B, but in the angel bras, the B's are too small and I'm a C.... so it's weird.
Belle - keep moisturizing baby. I wish I had... and I'm just starting now... I bought this cream by Nuetragena that helps with skin elasticity... I can't remember the name but it's a white and silver bottle. But I do have a little bit of extra skin above my boobs.... but they're really not saggy though. It's like stretch marks above my breast... I'm bumming too. i read that people magazine.... I'm worried too.... but I'd never be able to afford surgery... so hopefully it won't be too much of a problem... I've heard that the best thing you can do it tone and strength train. UGH. Hope I didn't gross anyone out! Lucy - congrats on the good interview. Let us know what you hear. Yes, cupcakes Confetti ones... MMmmm. Well, I found the nutritional info and they're 5 points for 1/12 of the mix.... but we made 20 cupcakes... so I'm thinking it was about 4 points... which wasn't as bad as I thought. Talk to y'all later! Lisa Lisa |
Hi Laura - we were posting at the same time. Well nice to meet you Laura!!! I'm really sorry about the job position - definately pamper yourself... a massage works too! I love getting pampered - it feels great and no calories.... good for you resisting temptation... I hope you cheer up - really it's THEIR LOSS!
|
Laura - sorry to hear about the job, but Lisa is right. they just didn't see the best person for the job when they saw her :). Don't worry yourself about food - do something else to pamper yourself - even an at home pedicure works for me. Sending you happy vibes!!
Lisa - oooo, I'll try your cream. I saw some "firming cream" before that I thought of buying, but now that I am on the losing pattern again, I thinkI'll bite the bullet!! I guess we should get goin' on those weights (well, me, anyway, since you already do)... Belle |
Complainin'
OK, I have to take a minute to complain. Maybe yesterday I should have said that most days were bad, but there were a few good ones, instead of saying most days are good but there are a few good ones--I spend a lot of time *****ing about my job. :)
OK, first of all, let's identify everyone by using a letter. B is the office chatterbox who just got back from vacation. K is the lady in the cube across from me and constantly gossips about T. J is K's friend that she gossips with... Now listen to this. B just got back from a 5-day vacation. She was gone Fri, Mon, and yesterday from work. She hasn't even been back 6 hours and she decides that she doesn't feel like working any longer, so she goes into the cube next to me to read for the next 2 hours. She's always claiming to stay late to make up time, but she just sends emails and sets the delivery time instead of actually staying the entire time. It just makes me SO mad that honest people (like me) are going to end up suffering because of her. Then we've got K and J. They're always talking about T. I feel terrible for T, which is who they're ALWAYS gossiping about. T is a 44 year old divorced woman who's had a hard life and they're always talking about her and making fun of her (for her physical appearance and other things she can't help). They seem to think that they're a couple of catches. K has two kids and has totally let herself go since marrying her much younger husband. (Poor guy didn't know what he was getting into). J has 3 kids, is a chain smoker and is just plain white trash. They seem to think that they're so much better than poor T. Oh, I just get so mad about the BS level around here. Don't get me wrong, I do plenty of gossiping and goofing around, but I don't lie about what hours I work and I certainly don't make fun of people for things that they can't help. Arg, I get so sick of this place... Enough of that, I gotta try to distract myself by thinking about something else. Winter--My vote for how to pamper yourself is a pedicure. I tried to give myself one last night. Wasn't so successful... I have really rough feet and when I got a pedicure in a salon, they were really soft, but I just couldn't get them soft last night. Oh well, the paint job looks good. :D I'm sorry that you didn't get the job as the event planner, but ya know, sometimes things like that happen so you can get an even better job! Kirsty--Yes, lots of reminder notes get written on my hand. Just make sure you get the ink off and don't sleep on your hand, or else you'll have a story like Lisa's REGIT... Lucy--Isn't it disappointing only being down a little bit? But, you gotta think about how disappointed you'd be if you were up. A loss is a loss. Belle--Yeah, the sweatiness under all the boob coverage is awful! I hate it. My back always hurts after working out, but there's nothing I can do. I may try Laura's suggestion of the ace bandage and see if that helps. YIKES! I never even thought about skin saggage! Scary! Good thing I'm not hardly losing right now, maybe my skin will shrink or something. And, like you, after I reach goal, the boobs are definitely going to have some major re-shaping and nipple-relocation. :) OK, I'm going to work now. Don't want to lose my reputation as the only one who does it around here... (Bitter, bitter). :) |

Wow- the thread is busy today! So I am posting in order to not eat the mac and cheese I am thinking I would like. Definitely can't eat it because oh, guess what? I also had a cupcake today! Maybe it is just a cupcake day. So anyway, that was my splurge for the day nad now there is absolutely no way I am eating mac and cheese for dinner. It's terrible for you anyway, right? All that salt...
Jen- I would love if you organized a running challenge! Please please please! I think I would really be able o stick with it if I had some folks to be doing it with (even if just online). I tried running with my brother a few times, and he is just way to fast for me (I guess that's why he ran track in high school!). And everyone I know now who runs has been doing it for AGES so I am really a wuss in comparison. Jess- your cube situation sounds like a real pain! Maybe you should look into what sort of degrees your job will pay for so you can get one and be promoted and be the boss of the cube *****es:s: Or just get moved away from them entirely. Sounds like you handle it way better than I would. I think in your position I would have either totally lost it and screamed my head off at them, or totally lost it and slapped someone. I have a bit of a temper at times.... Belle- AWESOME about the dress. And yeah, a farting dog is definitely a double workout! Carrying him is great for your arms, I'm sure. I'm not going to be able to have a dog this fall, much as I would like one. They are so sweet and a great way to ensure frequent exercising! Laura- A pedicure sounds like an excellent pick-me-up. And like Lisa said, it is their loss. Lucy- Down is down. Maybe not so nice as a 2 or 3 lb loss, but still. If you aren't gaining and you aren't maintaining, it's all good in my book! Oh, I noticed some carrot cake lovers on here. Count me in! My mom has tinkered with her carrot cake recipe a bit so it has about half the oil and uses half whole wheat flour. It's actually better than it was before. I will see if I can find the recipe and figure out the points for the improved version next time I am home. Although yeah, if the whole cake was around, I would eat it too! One thing I do sometimes is if I am really craving some chocolate, there is a grocery store just up the street, and they sell those individually wrapped lindor truffles (I think that's what they're called, can't remember for sure). Anyway, I will buy just one and it is REALLY good chocolate, and the walk up there probably cancels half of it anyway. But I really can't have sweets around or I will eat them all!! Cat |
Ok, since a few people are interested, I will come up with a running challenge and post it tomorrow. I am going to think of something that will work for people of various abilities, so no one gets discouraged! ;)
Laura - It's so great to know your name! :D |
hey guys what is myoplex just out of curiosity
|
No idea what myoplex could be...
But I wanted to say hi! Lisa, don't get offended at this, but it sucks being married to an engineer. He is always tinkering with my computer and telling me how much better it is, then it crashes and is down for the night and most of the next day. Never fails...Anyway, lots going on here today! I would so be up for a running challenge. I have this picture of myself as a runner, wearing cute spandex and having this noble yet determined look on my face, and I think I'm thinking of a Nike commercial I once saw. By the way, to the members of the "boobie club", there is hope. I used to be a DD but after I had a baby, I nursed him, and now that I weaned him (as of the last two weeks ago) my chest is much smaller. I think I'm easily a large C, since all my D's are even a big baggy. Guess I'll have to go bra shopping. But anyway, don't get discouraged if you think you'll never be able to afford surgery, because from what I hear, this is a common thing, this after-nursing shrinkage. It's a good thing that only women hang out on this thread, there just might be too much estrogen around here for a man to get truly into this...although this all might just be a cross-dresser's dream come true! :D Ok, enough outta me, I gotta go make supper....BTW, two perfect OP days in a row!!!! Not bad for getting back on the wagon, if I say so myself (and I do!)!!!
