Hi!
I'm happy to say I didn't overeat or drink last night! The dinner was good, the company even better; we all had a good time. I'm faced with another dinner this evening, with a business associate of my husband's. We're going to downtown Chicago, they live in a beautiful condo on the 51st floor, overlooking Lake Michigan. I really wished I cared for seafood, as it would be so simple to just order that and a salad. I believe I'll forego any meat, and just have salad. When we dine out with them, it's usually a long evening, with drinks. I've got to watch it, as I don't want to have to be facing a gain after the holidays are over! Hope everyone's enjoying their weekend. We're having a new stove delivered tomorrow, so it'll force me to stay home and wrap some presents. ;) Essie, how's your arm? Hi Terri and Dianne and Myra! ~Jen |
Hi,
Jen, my arm is a little better. I guess the Vioxx does help. I didn't think it would take the pain away that fast. It still hurts but not as much. Thanks for asking ;) I'm on my way to visit my son so I have to make this short for now. I thought the new program was coming out today so I went to another center that's opened on Sunday & they said we won't be getting it till Jan. 1st  I was so disappointed. I was ready to rock & roll. Oh well  Till later guys ;) |
Hi guys!
Myra, Bruce is a Senior Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineer. He is working on the Shuttle Replacement Program. He has worked on many labs that went up when he worked at the Kennedy Space Center. Jen, Hope you enjoyed your dinners. Sounds like fun. Essie, I hope your elbow gets some relief from the meds. Praying for you girl! Well, I went to the hotel last night. It had a fire place. It was nice. We took the kids to TGIFridays first for lunch and then they dropped me off and about 5 hrs. later Bruce came back and fixed dinner for us and we had a little wine. Very romantic. Got back around 1:00 this afternoon. Have a great Sunday! Terri |
Terri,
I hope you enjoyed your evening....how perfectly romantic! ;) Essie, Glad to hear the Vioxx helps. Did your dr. recommend any exercises? Dianne, How are you? Our group really has dwindled, hasn't it? I'm glad that we make the effort to keep posting and get to know each other. I personally know that I need all the support I can get! Our dinner last night was nice. We ended up at an upscale Oriental restaurant, the food was very well done. I'm not a real fan of that type of food, so I didn't worry about eating too much, did pretty well in keeping the points low, I think. I'm sure everyone's heard that the Chicago area is being hit by a blizzard. It started snowing very early this morning, we've already received about 7 inches of snow. I've been out to shovel 3 times already. When Joe got home from work he went out with the snow-thrower, but it almost needs it again. A nice night to have the fire going and wrap some presents! It's so pretty outside. I received the new issue of O magazine today, and there's a good article by Phil McGraw, titled "Willpower is overrated". He suggests that good planning and follow through will see us to our goal more than willpower may. It was interesting, and the steps he recommends are something I'm going to implement. Can't hurt! Have a great evening. ~Jen |
Jen,
Hi!!! Hope you are staying warm! Please be careful! We are supposed to get some snow on Wed. But not sure what. We don't get much. Just think, you will have a white Christmas!!!! Have a good day! Hi everyone! Terri |
Did any of you get a chance to see the new revisions for weight watchers?
It is now called "Winning Points". Here is something I found on another thread: "WEIGHT WATCHERS WINNING POINTS 2001 Good news! The new year is at hand! WW POINTS are NOT going away! I am sure you will all have the new materials in your hands by the end of the week. This week we introduce the new stuff at our meetings with time for questions. There will be new books, new points finders, and new journals. I guess the biggest thing I like about WW 2001 if the program is working for you AS IS...do NOT feel you have to change a thing. BUT, if you feel that the program is NOT working for you as you would like it to, there is a whole bunch of new material to personalize the PROGRAM just for you! That’s the new theme for 2001...a journey of self-discovery...putting the pieces of the weight-loss puzzle together just for YOU! BOOKLET ONE: “GETTING STARTED”: All food still have POINTS. There have been a number of changes (about 70) in POINT VALUES for foods as an update of nutrition information and the new fiber counting. You start your day with your POINTS range...and combine them with the “8 STEPS TO HEALTHY LIVING”...yes, there are 8 steps...very complete. The daily POINT range spread is now 5 points instead of 7. How do you think a 5-point spread can encourage even better weight-loss results? ACTIVITY POINTS can be swapped for food points right off the bat; no waiting until your 10% With activity, you can restore your 7 point spread. The amount of FIBER that WW counts and calculates is CAPPED at a maximum of 4 points. The Daily POINTS range now goes up to 350 pounds. 0-point vegetables are listed separately in the materials. Some vegetables are now listed to have points (carrots...1 cup = 1 point) Calcium-rich food is highlighted. Vegetarian information and information for nursing moms is right in the basic book. There will be 7 booklets and 5 recipe cards to take members through their first 12 weeks. There is a list of common recipe ingredients and their points value right in the booklet. Food lists are re-organized to help you look up foods more easily. PESONALIZING THE PROGRAM: The week 2 booklet is called “WHAT’S YOUR STYLE?” The first of several self-quizzes is in this booklet. It will help you find your “diet personality” and how to better make the program work for you based on that personality. Other booklets talk about THE RIGHT MIX (Book 6) of proteins, carbs, and fats that will keep YOU satisfied and ON PROGRAM. The ACTIVITY booklet (Book 4) uses simple language and contains some readiness quizzes. Book 8 is all bout the TOOLS for LIVING. Book 10 helps you discover your own eating patterns and how we are influenced by both hunger and lifestyle patterns. Another booklet for those who are experiencing plateaus is called BREAKING THROUGH. You gotta ask for this one!!! New products...well, I think I need to have a whole separate mini-meeting for this one! New FOOD COMPANION, NEW DINING OUT COMPANION, NEW CALCULATOR, new flavors in 2-POINT bars, a NEW 2-POINT BREAKFAST bar...new cookbooks, new PEDOMETER. I'll get the new program on Saturday! Can't wait. 2 points less won't be too bad. At least we can earn them back if we need to. Terri |
Hello :)
Terri, I was reading that yesterday. I wish I could get my hands on it before Jan. 2001 but Suffolk County, Long Island has to wait till then :( From now till Xmas I won't be posting as much. It seems like my schedule is going to be pretty busy but I'll stop in to say hi every now & then. It'll only be for the next 2 weeks. Jen, my elbow is more or less the same. I stopped the Vioxx because it was giving me an upset stomach. The Dr. did give me some exercises to do. I have to put ice on it also. Dianne & Myra I hope all is well. Have a great week ;) |
Hi guys:
Jen - I was just listening to the news about the snow in Chicago -- YIKES. Be careful out there, especially shoveling. It must be so beautiful, though. Here in NY its getting colder tonight - earlier today was warm but very windy. They're talking about snow tomorrow night, I believe. Sounds like you had a nice night out with the girls, that's great. Essie -- I'm sorry to hear you are still having trouble with your elbow. Can the doctor change your meds since they were giving you an upset stomach? Take care and be careful to put on the ice, etc. whatever works, do it. Hope it gets better in time for the holidays. Terri -- sounds like your little getaway was a big success and romantic. I'm really glad you enjoyed yourself. It's important to do something for yourself once in awhile -- we spend so much time and effort on our families, we tend to forget ourselves. We are superwomen!!!!!! Myra - hope you are feeling well. Take care. I have bronchitis for the second time in 1 month -- seems its a relapse. What a pain. On antibiotics, etc. but the coughing is really getting on my nerves (and probably my husbands too, LOL!) Home from work today and tomorrow, I'll go back Thursday, depending on how well this medicine works. Well, gotta go. Hope you all have a good evening and I will talk to you again soon. Dianne |
Essie,
I hope you are feeling better. I know how that hurts. I won't be around for 2 weeks (starting on the 22nd) either. I can use Bruce's laptop to read and not reply while up in Ohio. I think these sites will be pretty empty over the Holidays. I hope we can find each other again. LOL Jen, Still with us or are you buried in snow? I'll bet it is cozy (once everyone is safe at home). How much did you get? Stay warm!!!!! Dianne, We did have a good time. I actually read about 4 chapters of a book and finished an entire People Mag. in one sitting. I hope everyone comes back after Christmas, Pook, Satin and anyone else. Always welcome. Right girls? GOOD NIGHT Terri [This message has been edited by points (edited 12-12-2000).] |
Hi Jen, Terri, Dianne, Myra,
Dianne, I have been hearing in the news that we're supposed to get some snow tonight or tomorrow morning. I'm a chicken when it comes to driving in the snow which means if it's too slippery I may take a day off :D Jen, the snow must look so pretty. Perfect for Christmas. Terri, I definitely will be back. I love you guys, you're my buds, my homies(sp?) No really, you all keep me motivated. There's another group that I belong to but I haven't been posting there cause I feel since I haven't been OP 24/7 so I don't fit in. I never feel that way here. I'm a softy at heart & I really feel for someone when they are going thru a hard time. I wonder why? Yesterday one of the attorney's I work for asked me if I have the movie It's A Wonderful Life(thought of you Terri). I told her I was planning to rent it for Christmas & she said not to rent it because that's what she's planning to give me for Christmas. Isn't that great!? Myra, are you feeling any better? I apologize for not e-mailing you yet. I haven't forgotten. When things start slowing down around here OK? You too Dianne. Let me get going. Have a great day ;) [This message has been edited by livingfit426 (edited 12-13-2000).] |
Terri,
thanks for the lowdown on the new program...looks as though I will be joining again. It's not a good time of year to do so, I know...everyone joins for the new year. We have about 10 inches of snow...not good packing, though, so it doesn't look like Frosty will be joining us! Supposed to get more today! Have a wonderful visit with your family, and a safe trip. Essie, You will love the movie. Even though I've seen it countless times, each time I watch it I am blown away by Jimmy Stewart's performance. Enjoy! I know what you mean about driving in the snow. Be careful. Dianne, please take care of yourself, that bronchitis is a nasty ailment. I hope you're feeling better soon. Myra, how are you? Happy holidays. Now that we're in to the final mad rush before the holidays, I'd just like to wish everyone the very best! ~Jen [This message has been edited by Jenny523 (edited 12-13-2000).] |
Hi everyone. I'm still here, on the mend. I've been frustrated about not exercising and gaining weight like crazy. Just haven't been able to even think about program the past few weeks and now I am paying the price. But I am going to my meeting this morning to take in the new program and to make a new start. Also I am hoping when I go to the doctor tomorrow I will be able to start exercising again. It's funny, but I really miss it. Who would of thought that. Even as a kid I was never real active. The last one picked for teams, etc. Now I love to exercise. Life is definitely funny.
Terri, what are we going to do without your inspirational posts for two weeks. We will surely miss you. Have a great time in Ohio. I hope everyone else is doing well and taking in the new program. One new thing I heard. While we have to count carrots and onions, we get more strawberries per point. That is good news for me. I eat a lot of berries when they are around. Myra [This message has been edited by mpinkham (edited 12-13-2000).] |
Myra,
I will miss you guys too. I can't stand when I can't get on for one day. You are all so inspirational. You are a sweetie! Good luck at the Dr. I hope he gives you the o.k. I know what you mean about exercising. "Who would have thunk?" LOL Essie, Love that movie! You will too. I love what Jimmy Stewart says when he is told Clarence is his Guardian Angel in the guard house getting warm. Don't want to ruin it so you will just have to watch. LOL That is a great present. As far as you being on 24/7. That isn't impt. for me to be your supportive buddy. I would have to be on that "other" board for that to be a problem. You are trying and I want to be here if you need me and vice versa. By now weight is only one of the many things that I like to share with y'all. You are such a sweet person. Don't you ever leave. That goes for all of you. Jen, Thanks. I always get nervous before we drive. Hope the roads are clear all the way up. Snow, you love it or you hate it. I like it when NOONE has to drive in it and you are "stuck" inside. Memories! Come Jan. It will be great! FRESH start. I weigh in Sat. I might weigh up there in Ohio but I don't know. I don't have to pay for missed meetings so I might not. Depends on the ole' pocketbook. Dianne, Have a great day! BYE EVERYBODY! Happy Hump Day! Terri |
Hi everyone! Ready for the weekend? Our Christmas is in 2 days. YIKES!!!!
My poor kids have to wait until I get back from WW to open presents. Poor things. They have been troopers. 2 still believe in You know who and I can't believe how well they took it. I'll let my husband be the one to hold them off til' I get home. LOL Have a great Thursday! Terri |
Hi everyone!
We've had lots of snow this week.....there's about 15 inches on the ground. I can't remember when I've shovelled so much! It's an invigorating feeling, and I feel so pumped up when I'm done. More snow is predicted for tonight, we're really getting our share! We had our new stove delivered yesterday. I'm starting the Christmas baking today; haven't done any to speak of for quite a few years. I'm looking forward to serving cookies and breads when we have the whole family over on Christmas day. Terri, have a very Merry Christmas with your family! Hope Santa is good to you. ;) Hope everyone is hanging in there..the mad rush is definitely here. Please make sure you all take time for yourselves, to enjoy the love of family and friends. ~Jen [This message has been edited by Jenny523 (edited 12-15-2000).] |
