Smile Fabulous 40's #120

Hi Girls,

Thread went to page 7 so I thought it was time to start a new one. Hope "you's" (as Zoe would say) don't mind.

Pogo, great to see you. It's very hard to stay OP 24/7, for me anyway. WE just have to try one day at a time & if we fall we get back up & try again. I have been a member since the 80's & so many people think I'm a lifetime member. Everytime I had a gain I would get disqusted & quit going to meetings. This time for some reason I don't feel that way. I've come to realize this is for the rest of my life & it's the only thing that works. Hang in there my friend.

Zoe, when I've slacked off on exercising it's always hard to get back at full force. At least you have the right frame of mind. Your're trying to get back to it & that's step towards weight loss. Each day add a couple of more minutes & bring it up a notch. Keep up the good work.

Have to get ready for work. I'll be back this evening.

Hi Ruth, Jen, Dianne, Sandy & Myra. Hope I didn't miss anyone.

Essie

Wink Howdy

Hello my buddies

I just can't seem to get on here often enough, but I'm always thinking of you guys

Well in answer to some questions re: my recent weight loss journey (I should say trial!), before I went back in mid January of this year, I had gained back 6 lbs. since my last meeting (months before)and then lost 3 of those lbs. However, I decided not to count that 3 lbs loss and to just start from mid January. Soooooooooo, I've only (not supposed to say only, but trying to explain) lost 6 lbs. in 6 weeks. So, that's an average of 1 lb. per week. I've posted losses for 5 out of the 6 weeks, with one week posting a .4 gain. So, its going slow, but its going I'm happy. My weight mid Jan was 158.2 and now I'm 152.2 and going downnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!

I'm sorry I don't have time to address everyone personally, but love ya all!!!!!!! Will try to talk to you's tonight

Hugs,
Dianne

Hi I posted on 119 so I figureed I should probably copy it here:

Hi everyone,
I WI this morning and lost 2 lb, not the 3 that I had gained but I'll take it. It took 2 wks to gain the 3Lb so I guess I should expect it will take 2 wks to loose it as well. TOnight is going to be difficult because I am meeting some girlfriends at a local English pub/cafe. It is hard to go to an English Pub and not have at least 1 beer. I have been OP all week though, WW is supposed to let us splurge once in a while, right?

You gals will never guess who called me out of the Blue yesterday...Wally! We only chatted for a couple of minutes, but it was great to hear from him again.

Myra,
I know that you will do fine during this period of stress. You've come this far, your not going to let it get the best of you now!!

Jen,
I heard that the temps in Chicago were 13 below yesterday. I don't think you'd see me out from under the bed covers on a day like that. I knew there was a reason why I left the Northeast and moved to CA.

Sandy, Pogo, Terri, Ruth, Zoe, Dianne etc.

Hugs,
JanieD

Hi

Dianne, don't be a stranger. I miss you. 6 lbs. in 6 weeks sounds about right. WW says we're suppose to lose 1 - 1 1/2 a week. You're on the right track.

Janie, congrats on your loss. I know someone that has lost a lot of weight on WW(40 lbs.) but will never give up her beer. She banks for it & she drinks lite beer. I've known her for 15 yrs & she's always been a beer drinker. She looks great. She also has bottled water with her all the time. That was so nice of Wally to give you a call. I bet he made your day.

Let me go lurk.

Can't add attachments anymore

Good Evening Y'all

Tomorrow is Thursday and then, it's almost Friday. Yeah! It's been one of those weeks and I am so looking forward to the weekend. Nothing planned but just want to be able to stay home. My job is VERY stressful since I deal with the government.....Medicare!!

Es ~ seems like they changed the type of files you can attach....no more gif file, they have to be jpg or jpeg. I have to change ALL mine over.....

Just wanted to stop in for a minute. I am very tired tonight, don't know why so I'm going to relax the rest of the night. Have a wonderful evening and I'll talk to you all tomorrow,

Hi Ladies,
This is starting out to be one of those days
It wasn't raining until I decided to leave the house. WHen I got to work I had a message on my voice mail from the alarm Company that te alarm had gone off and that I had to go home and let the Police in. I got there and the police had already been there and gone. Not knowing this, I waited for about 10 minutes expecting them to come. Finally I called the police and they said that they had already checked out the house and cleared it. So then it was back to work for Thursday Take 2.

Last night I was totally Off Program. There were 3 of us gals at the Pub and we had a great time, just schmoozing. It has been a very long time since I went "out drinking with the girls". I only had 2 beers but I have to say I felt so full at that point I couldn't have had anymore even if I wanted to. I don't know how I did it back in my college days. OH well... back OP for today!

Have a wonderful Thu everone,
JanieD

Hi

JanieD, hope the rest of your day turned out okay. What a morning you had.

I always start the day OP but evenings I go off. It's become a routine which I have to change & real soon. I don't want to be this heavy by the summer

I know a few women at work that have been doing WW & are doing so well. I need to focus on low point foods. I try & spread out my points but remember I'm up at 3:30 a.m. Monday thru Thursday so my days are very long.

6:00 Breakfast 5 pts.
9:30 Snack at work 4 pts usually LF yogurt or protein bar
12:00 Lunch 4 to 5 pts.
2:00 Snack 2 pts.
then it's downhill from there. I have 11 pts from 2:00 till I go to bed around 9:00. Am I doing something wrong? I mentioned this to a leader once & all she said was maybe I'm not eating enough fruits & veggies. I can't understand how people say they're never hungry.

Anyway, I'm feeling frustrated today so thanks for listening.

Love,
Es

My WI went better than I expected. I actually lost 1.8 lbs. I don't know how. I totally maxed out or went over my points every day, although not by much. Also I exercised a lot. I guess I should just thank the scale gods and leave it at that.

Myra, good loss! I know that as you get closer to goal (obviously I don't know from personal experience ) that it's more difficult to post big losses. You must have been working very hard to achieve that loss.

Janie, what a hassle with that alarm! A necessary evil, right? Your pub night sounds like fun; isn't it funny how we can be happy with so much less beer/liquor than we used to consume? When I think about those days.......

Es, well, my friend, if we could only figure out how to control the latter part of our days! I am also in the same rut, and am thinking that perhaps I need to increase the amount of protein I eat at lunch, or even breakfast. Maybe that's the reason I get so hungry/ravenous/munchie-happy in the evening.
If we bulk up on fruits and veggies for breakfast and lunch, and then also concentrate on including them in our dinners, it may be a big help.
I know it's so easy for me to ignore the things that are good for me, and concentrate instead on the carbs, which I love! At dinner I have to have potatoes or rice, or pasta, and always go overboard.
Maybe increasing the fibers (fruits and veggies) in the early part of the day will help decrease the craving for carbs? I don't know.

Yesterday was Jess's birthday (28), I drove out to her town to spend the afternoon/evening with her and the boys (Mike works 2nd shift). She and I went shopping for a printer for her new computer, our gift to her. I am a big believer in gifts being a surprise: this was my 1st time doing it this way...... so it was incredibly easy to just tell her to pick out her gift! Look what I've been missing all these years! lol

Since Jess is celebrating her bday this weekend, we're getting the boys for the weekend! I'm going out for dinner tomorrow evening with an old friend tomorrow evening......but am looking forward to being with the boys the rest of the weekend. I already promised Brandon we'd have spaghetti and meatballs for dinner on Saturday.......his absolute favorite. And I do make good meatballs, if I say so myself.

Paul McCartney is coming to Chicago!!!!! OK, I know I'm nuts. When he came to Chicago in 1990, I sat outside Sears for 18 hours, overnight, in the rain, to get a number for tickets.
The tickets go on sale this Saturday; in this day and age of electronic transactions, we'll see if we're lucky. Joey and I are both going to wait to get different numbers. WE LOVE YOU BEATLES, OH YES WE DO.............

Ok, did I age myself? don't think so!!!!!!!

later!
love,
~Jen

Hi there

Wow, do I feel GREAT tonight!! I was so on track today, staying within my points (I am doing Weight Watcher's) and did my treadmill. Today, I had my lunch time all planned out and then I was asked to "go out". I paniced at first but then, thought some more about it.....she wanted to go to Teresa's, a home-style cooking place in Fort Worth and I NEVER do good there....always have their patty melt and fried ~ but today, I was EXCELLENT and so proud of myself. Had a turkey club (can you believe that they only put 2 deli-thin slices on it???? HA!), took the middle piece of bread out and had it dry (I put some jalapenos on it...yum). Oh, and no fries. The waitress said "it's the same price"....I said okay, I didn't care since it's not the money, it's the food. Ok, so I am bragging but I feel so great....

Did my treadmill tonight. Still only at 1 mile in 21 minutes but I am sure that I'll speed it up some each time. And I'm drinking all my water too!!!!

Es ~ hang in there girl. I know first hand how frustrating this diet thing can get. The thing I do to spread my points out is to eat breakfast as late as possible. Sometimes 10am...this puts my lunchtime after 1pm, sometimes as late as 2pm. I don't know if this will work for you but it's a help for me and I do need all the help I can get. Ha! Just vent here ~ you all were and always are here for me when I either get stuck, get stressed or just plain fall off the wagon. You can do it!!

Janie ~ don't worry about last night, just get back up again. We all do that once in awhile....(mine tend to last for weeks though....) You can do it. but just think of all the fun you must have had....

Myra ~ WTG on your loss!!

Oh, Es, on changing the files. I just go into the folder with these files in it and right click on each one of them and go to 'rename'. Then I call it the same thing but with a .jpg after it. Hope this makes sense. What's really strange is that the board won't let me attach something I've already attached before...even if it's months ago.

Hi the the rest of you's guys. Have a great night!!

JANIE, one day of fun will not hurt in the long run. We all need to enjoy ourselves sometimes. It is only bad when one day turns into two, then three....you get the picture. That is what is happening to me at the moment. I've been having a lot of days where I feel like a bottomless pit. Nothing seems to satisfy me. Maybe if I exercise more, I wouldn't be effected that way!!

MYRA, 1.8 lbs gone. That is so wonderful. You are doing so well you are a major inspiration to the rest of us. Congratulations!!

ZOE, can you bottle your enthusiasm and send it to me in Louisiana!! I'm trying to claw my way out of my slump and feel like I'm falling back in for every step I take forward!!

JEN, sounds like fun. The last concert I waited for numbers for was Rod Stewart. A friend and I both got different numbers, then my husband showed up, I had him get a number too. I ended up being 3rd in line when the window opened up!! Have fun with your grandkids this weekend!!

ES and JEN, sounds like the three of us are suffering from the same problem. Truthfully, I'm not eating near the veggies and fruits that I was at the start of this. Guess I will go to grocery store tomorrow and stock up on those foods. I'll make a conscious effort to eat them. Maybe that will help the scale start moving downward instead of inching upwards!!

Well ladies, I'll check in during the weekend, but I have to study most of the weekend, so if I don't actually post, I'll be lurking.

HI gals,
Thank you all for the support. I did have a good time Wed night. I agree with you all this would be an impossible lifestyle if there wasn't room for having fun now and then. I just have to wonder why in our society fun always seems to revolve around food and drink. I guess that is why when you have a party, the kitchen is always the center of attraction. My guess is that this food-centric thing goes back to the origin of civilization. When food was scarce you tended to be happy when there was enough to go around...and so you would have a party... harvest festival, hunting party, etc. Now that food is so plentiful in our society, we need to figure out another way to have fun. I guess I have gone far enough with this anthropological theory Sorry for my musings...I can get very analytical at times.

Myra,
Congratulations girlfriend. You are incredible!

Es,
You are not the only one that tends to loose it in the evening. That is my worst time too. The days that I go off program, 95% of them are because I loose it in the evening. I think it was Terri that suggested starting your WW day before dinner. I haven't tried this myself, but it does sound like a good way to approach the evening munchies problem.

Hope you all have a nice Fri,
Hugs,
JanieD

New here

Hi all! Have been lurking for awhile but registered today. This is the year of the big 40 so I started WW beginning
of March. Personal goal is to lose 40 pounds by the time I am 40 in August and then 40 more by this time next
year. Seems like a long road but you all seem so supportive and this site has some terrific recipes and ideas.
Have lost 15 already and feel so much better. Helps to stay motivated when you can notice differences in the way
you feel. Well, I have really rambled on - just wanted to introduce myself and say hi.
