(Have to be honest. Today was really tricky and I WI tomorrow, so wish me luck once again.)

Princess1122 10-10-2007 08:27 AM

Good morning ladies! It is cold here in the Midwest, oh my goodness... it is 46 degrees here this morning! We went from record highs to record lows in about 24 hours... crazy!

It looks like everyone is doing pretty well... that is awesome!

I did not go to W/I again on Saturday, had a house full of company and just did not have time. I will go this weekend though.

I have a great day ladies!
Princess

CherryAutumn 10-10-2007 10:59 AM

Princess - I live in Kansas and we went from high 80's to a low of 45 tonight.

I got a new scale for my house so i don't think it is accurate but i weighed in at 205.6 this morning.:carrot:

Hope everyone is doing well and keeping on jumping through those hoops. We can do this Turtles.

bandit2 10-10-2007 02:18 PM

Hi everyone - keep up the good work.

Weather has been very hot up here - but not complaining. Was great for our Thanksgiving weekend. Snow will be here soon enough, so am enjoying the warm weather for sure.

Have a good one!

Go Turtles Go! :cheer:

We are doing great. I went to WW WI and was up a little bit, but today when I weighed myself at home, I was back down again. Lots going on--two birthday parties this weekend. Next week is the countdown for my dd's wedding next Saturday. Wish us well for a clear sunny day! Keep on keepin' on--we're doing great.
Isn't this interesting? Bandit celebrated Canada's Thanksgiving and INVU is going into the summer months in New Zealand. Wow, I love the internet.

:grouphug: Yes, Cherry--we can all use a hug and encouragement to keep going.
Judy

CherryAutumn 10-13-2007 09:01 AM

It is so frustrating. I have lost my focus again. I put on a couple of pounds and it is the same ones over and over again. I wish i could just stick to the plan once in awhile.:dizzy::^:
I am going to keep trying though. I cannot afford to give up. I need to do this for my health and my family.

Itryharder 10-13-2007 06:57 PM

Dear Cherry,
That's why we're turtles. It's so easy to lose motivation. Do what you know you can do, give yourself a pat on the back for all the good stuff you do, and keep on keepin' on. The frustration comes, but we can fight back.

Hey, do you want a laugh? I went to a 40th. :hb:birthday party yesterday for my cousin and the food was downright awful! I didn't have time to step on the scale, but I think I'm okay. I didn't eat much and I'm feeling fine about that. Have a good weekend and we'll all chime in on Monday~
Judy

bandit2 10-15-2007 11:15 AM

Hi everyone - getting abit cooler up here now.

Hang in there Cherry - "baby steps"

I am refocussed today & last night did a menu for the next 3 days.
Hopefully this will help me get back & keep on track.

Have a great one!

CherryAutumn 10-15-2007 11:22 AM

Hey Bandit thanks. It seems that we are thinking along the same lines. My Husband and i decided it is time to buckle down and we made a week menu that we will follow and a grocery list. We can do this.:carrot: No more simply trying we will DO it.:D

Princess1122 10-15-2007 11:35 AM

Happy Monday all!

How was everyone's weekend? Ours was busy, trying to get the house ready for winter.

My one dog, Bella, well she is not doing so well at all. She went in for ear surgery last Monday, had a real hard time with that and we noticed her getting really stiff through out this past week when she would get up and this morning she was just falling all over the place. I think it is hip displatia or arthritis but I am not sure. She has an appointment at the vet this afternoon so I will know more then. She is an older girl, 12 years old, she has had a good run and we love her but I can not watch her suffer so if the vet says that it is not going to get any better from here then we have to make a tough decision... She was a rescue dog, they were going to put her down if no one wanted her, she came from a breeder and her mother was mated with the wrong dog so since she could not get any money for the pups she was going to destroy them. Me and bunch of other folks stepped in and took all of the puppies. I have had her since she was about 10 weeks old and she has had some health issues in the past... but it is so very sad to see this happen.

One step at a time everyone, just keep on with the plan and you will not fail!

I stayed the same last week so nothing new to report in that area.

I have to run!
Susan

Itryharder 10-15-2007 09:02 PM

Princess, you are so kind. How like you to take a rescue dog. Here's a :grouphug: to help you out.
I like that your weight stayed the same. I'm on a tough run--keep on getting bad news and I'd love to shake that up. I feel very heavy right now and hope it's my imagination. Ugh.

Bandit--making up a menu is a great idea and I'm glad Cherry is doing the same.

Hey, INVU, how are you doing?

I've caught a cold and needed to rest and relax today. I'll chime in when I can and hopefully my eating willbe better. I made the veggie soup with the cabbage, but put in too much cabbage and it's just not that good the way I made it. After having it for lunch, I went on a hunt to find something better to eat. Not a good idea. Anyway--enough complaining from me. You all tak ecare, use baby steps to get where you want to be and keep on keepin' on.
Judy

Princess1122 10-16-2007 11:00 AM

The vet visit went well, Bella is now on some meds and this morning she is much better. We will just have to see how it goes, she goes back to the vet in 2 weeks.

Hope everyone is well.

Susan

Itryharder 10-16-2007 06:02 PM

Yay! for Bella. This sounds good.
Judy

CherryAutumn 10-17-2007 09:40 AM

Hope Bella is doing better:hug:

Official weigh in this morning was 204.4:carrot:
That is the lowest i have been in a long time. I guess sticking to a menu is helping. I have been trying to do some exercising while doing laundry to.;)

bandit2 10-17-2007 04:25 PM

Princess - great news on Bella, you must be so relieved.

I have been totally OP so far this week & drinking lots of water.
Got to gym last night which was nice for a change.

My gf comes for dinner every week & she is bringing some turkey/stew she made - hope it won't be too creamy etc. for me.

Anyway, hope you are all doing well.

Itryharder 10-18-2007 09:29 AM

Cherry Autumn,
That's a wonderful weight loss. :goodscale: It's so true that when we actually do the things we know we need to do--baby steps--we actually lose weight. Thanks for proving once again that attention to detail really works.
I'm so happy for you. :cp: :bravo:

Bandit, love to hear that your food is good and you're exercising. :tread:
That's just wonderful. My crystal ball predicts that weight loss is in your future! Keep up the good work--hopefully the stew your df brings won't be too over the top in points and you'll work portion control to get the results you want.

I've had a tough spell as you can probably tell from my e-mails. In any case, the wedding is this Saturday and I'm looking forward to it. I've had a few binge eatings episodes, but still got to my WW WI on Wed. I was up again, but I know I will turn this around. What I did today was make a big pot of steel cut oatmeal (it's simmering right now), and I packaged up slices of pot roast for the freezer. (yes, I was using pot roast meat as a snack. Probably a verrrrrry bad idea, but I think I'm over that feeling now) So today I have a plan in place for nice, lower point foods and then I'll go into the weekend with good intentions and plans. My dd is happy and that's what counts.

Take care and be well and remember to drink your water!!!!

Happy Thursday all!

Boy oh boy but we had wicked storms come through here this morning... more expected this evening... Peachy!

Bella is doing better but part of me knows that this may be as good as it gets for her... we will just wait and see. She is up and moving, seems pain free, is having a hard time hearing since the ear surgery, but other then that she seems pretty happy so we will just do what we can, Pray for the best and prepare ourselves for the worst, when ever it comes.

Judy: I am sure that once your DD gets married things will calm down and you will be right as rain!

Cherry: WAY TO GO! Keep it up!

Bandit: Great job getting back on track and all... I have started back at the gym also, it is a slow process, getting my old body back in gear, but at least we are going =)

I have to run ladies but have a great day!
Princess

bandit2 10-18-2007 01:17 PM

Hi everyone - the stew was really good. She also brought french loaf & I had a few pieces of that & 1 glass of white wine. Overall, not toooooooo bad.

Raining up here but not too cold - which is nice.

Congrats Cherry, on your loss.

Judy - I like oatmeal as well. I have it plain with cinnamon or berries.

Everyone else, keep up the good work.

CherryAutumn 10-19-2007 09:49 AM

TOM is here and making my life miserable.:( Despite the cravings and the mood swings i have done rather well staying on points. I have had to use flex points here and there but still doing good.:D I am proud of myself for not giving into to what i want to eat sometimes. Like a whole pizza by myself or a cheeseburger and fries.:dizzy:

Hope everyone else is doing good. Lets keep moving turtles now matter how SLOW.:carrot:

Itryharder 10-21-2007 07:37 PM

HI turtles,
Wedding is over. It was great! I have no idea how my weight is going, but I'm in a good place. Tomorrow morning I'm right back to counting points.
Be well and happy!
Judy
Yes, Cherry, I like the idea of moving even if slowly.

INVU 10-23-2007 04:54 PM

Good morning Turtles
Sorry I have not been around but I am back now, just hit a bit of a low but its all good now girls.
Hope you are all great

INVU, glad to have you back. Post all the time. We all hit lows now and then and we love to give you support when you're down and when you're up, you can help us out.

Can you imagine that I haven't seemed to have gained weight this week? Tomorrow is my official WW WI, so I'll let you know for sure. I also got on the :tread: today for the first day in a week, and I did a multitude of housework that had gotten ignored with all the wedding plans.
Food has been good and I am setting up a challenge for Christmas. Anyone want to join in?

My Christmas Challenge
1. I will use Flex points and lose 1#/week
2. I will :tread: 3-4 x a week.
3. I will keep my cool and think through my emotions rather than eat over them.

Judy

Princess1122 10-24-2007 09:24 AM

I'm in!

I need to get my butt back on track. Here is my challenge for Christmas.

1) Eat within my points, count and track them everyday!

2) Two pilates classes per week!

3) Two trips to the gym for cardio per week!

4) 20 minutes of some form of exercise on the other three days... something at home - a DVD or something off of the internet.

Have a happy day all!
Princess

CherryAutumn 10-24-2007 02:38 PM

I am really having a hard time.:( I gained 3 or 4 pounds again.) I was thinking about shaking things up and trying the Wendi Plan.:^: What do you ladies think? Might it help?

Itryharder 10-25-2007 06:29 AM

Princess,
I love your Christmas Challenge plans! :bravo: the great thing is we know it's all possible.

I'm ready and willing to make this work for myself too. I lost 1.2# this week.
(Cherry--I had a couple of binges last week and gained about the same--now I've lost it. Does this get old? Yes!!!) But now with the wedding over, I think I can free my head and concentrate on what I want to do for good health.

Cherry, our Turtle friend, Ariana, used Wendi's Plan to great success. It's great when you've hit a plateau or are just looking to shake things up a bit.
Give it a try. :goodvibes:

I'm gearing up for the holidays and am hoping to knock off about a pound a week so I won't feel so bloated around Christmas. I have often lost weight at this time of year, so I'm planning on doing that again. The big challenge will be after Christmas and I'll worry about that later. :carrot: :dancer:
You all take care and have a great day.
Judy

Princess1122 10-25-2007 09:38 AM

Morning all!

Cold here today, very cold!

Cherry: The Wendi Plan is a very good tool to use to get going again and like Judy said when you hit a Plateau, I have used it in the past also. Hmm, maybe I should try that again myself!

I have to run but have a great day ladies!

Judy: It would be great to see Ariana posting again, she always had great words of wisdom for us all.

Princess

CherryAutumn 10-25-2007 09:43 AM

Thanks Turtles!
I think that i will give the Wendi Plan a try. Sometimes i get so frustrated with myself for sabatoging myself over and over again. I will not give up though. Thanks to you guys i feel like i have a reason just to keep on moving forward. Thanks!

Itryharder 10-25-2007 04:10 PM

Cherry, We're turtles and we never give up!!!! Some days are way tougher than others and we mess up, but we never give up. Take it easy on yourself and just keep doing it until it kicks in.

Princess, I sorely miss Ariana because she gave such thoughtful advice. If she's reading this maybe she'll be able to chime in once in a while to say hello.
Judy

Princess1122 10-26-2007 09:20 AM

Happy Friday!

Ariana: If you are checking in here from time to time... well, we sure miss you! Post when you can!

All: Judy is right, we never give up, we may in fact fall off the wagon so much that our bums are sore... but we climb right back on and NEVER SURRENDER!

As always I am thrilled that Friday is here :carrot:. No big plans for the weekend except clean my house! Oh and a shopping trip with my MIL, my DH brother is getting married and we need to go and find something to wear... shopping, fun!

Have a great weekend everyone!
Princess

Itryharder 10-26-2007 06:24 PM

Princess, have fun shopping. Wow, you are so many dress sizes smaller than when you started. Yay!

Tomorrow is our annual Halloween Party. I haven't put much thought into this, but I have my costume. I'm going to be Sherlock Holmes. I've got a pipe and a magnifying glass and his famous hat and a short cape. It'll be comfy to wear and kind of cute. As far as food, I'm having it catered and I'm not expecting the food to be too much of a challenge. I plan on giving away the extras and that will help a lot.

Everybody=-have a great weekend and keep on thinking baby steps.
Judy

Not doing so well but i am still here reading your posts.

bandit2 10-29-2007 01:33 PM

Hi everyone:

Doing pretty good up here. Went to gym 2 times last week & trainer made up new programme. Had bridal shower on Sun and had a few treats, but basically did well.

Getting frosty up here - all the grass was frozen today. But nice & sunny now. We have been lucky with the weather, so can't complain.

Anyone make anyone new for meals?

Take care.

Princess1122 10-30-2007 12:17 PM

regarding the notice about closing this sub forum: Not to sound to daft... but what other main WW forum is she talking about?

Hope everyone is having a great day... coming down with something that has me not feeling too well.... hoping to get the better of it before it gets the better of me.

princess

Itryharder 10-31-2007 09:40 AM

Bandit, it's not new, but I just made a vat of WW veggie soup. I froze some and kept some out for lunch. It's a good thing for me to keep on hand. Hey, would you be interested in a WW's slow cook Shrimp Jambalaya? I haven't tried it yet, but got the recipe at my WW's mtg. Let me know and I'll print it here. :chef:

INVU, I love the dancing figures you have on your posts. Really cute. Yeah, Halloween is becoming one of USA's most popular holidays. I'm sure TOM played havoc with your scale. Keep on keepin' on and you'll have a great weight loss. :goodscale:

Cherry Autumn, how about today when you're tempted you tell yourself that you're on a program and you want to eat healthy? Here's a :grouphug: because we all know what you're going through.

Princess, I'm going to read that notice from Suzanne right now. Hmmm.
Okay--today I'm back at WWs for my WI. I can't believe it comes up so fast each week.
Judy

Itryharder 10-31-2007 09:45 AM

Okay Turtles,
Princess, I just read Suzanne's post and it seems to me that she's closing down the age related threads and asking them to post at the main site. I'll check that out next. Right now it looks like the TUrtles will exist the way we have been.
Judy

CherryAutumn 10-31-2007 11:00 AM

Well i am losing the same pounds all over again but atleast i am going down and not up. I got up to about 210 again and now this morning i am weighing in at 208.5.

Judy - I think the slow cook shrimp Jambalaya sounds good. Could you post the recipe for me? I love shrimp and the slow cooker.

Itryharder 10-31-2007 01:49 PM

Hi Turtles,
I'm back from my WW's WI and I lost another pound. So far I have lost a total of `15.2#. :goodscale: I am trying to get it into my head that I can do this and can make progress. So send me good signs of support because I can sure use it. I'd love to wake up and be 130#, but that's not going to happen overnight,so I'll take it a baby step at a time. For Halloween tonight, I've got bags of pretzels in the house for the trick or treaters. Last year we had 150 children ringing our doorbell, so it's important to not have candy--I can deal with pretzels--even a pretzel binge won't do what a candy binge would do.
Right?

Here's the Shrimp Jambalaya recipe. It looks so good, I'll have to try it myself.

:chef:
CREOLE JAMBALAYA STEW

2med. onions, chopped
2 celery stalks, sliced
1 large green pepper, seeded and coarsely chopped
6garlic cloves, minced
2 cups chicken broth
1 (14 1/2oz) can diced tomatoes w/basil, oregano, and garlic
1 t.Creole seasoning (see bottom of recipe)
1/2# turkey kielbasa sausage, sliced
1 cup converted white rice
1 pound med. shrimp, peeled and deveined

1. Place the onions, celery, bell pepper, garlic, broth, tomatoes and Creole seasoning in a 5 or 6 qt. slow cooker. Cover and cook until the vegetables ar tender, 4-5 hours on high or 9-10 hours on low.
2. About 50 minutes before the cooking time is up, heat a large nonstick skillet over med. heat. Add the sausage and cook, turning occasionally until browned, about 5 min.
3. Stir the sausage and rice into the slow cooker. Cover and cook on high until the rice is tender, about 45 minutes. About 15 min. before the rice is done, stir in the shrimp. Cover and cook until the shrimp are jsut opaque in the center, about 10 min.

Makes 6 servings, 6 points value each serving.
Creole seasoning: 1/2t. paprika, 1/2t. salt, 1/4t.freshly ground pepper, 1/4t.garlic powder, 1/4t.onion powder, and 1/4t. cayenne. (As a tip, the WW leader who brought in this recipe said when she makes this again, she'll cook the rice separately in a pot and serve it on top of the stew--just another thought)

this looks good to me and I hope to make soon. Good luck to us all.
