Default Fabulous 40's #107

Janie's post from page 2.

Hi everyone,
I was very good on Wed and stayed within my points and drank my H2O. Yesterday I was really doing well also and would have been fine if my husband hadn't suprised me and taken us out to dinner. We went to Japanese which certainly is better than some other possibilities and I tried to make good choices. If I had known, I would have saved up the points for dinner but since I wasn't expecting it I ended up 4 points over Doing ok for today. Have only eaten 2 pts so far.

Hey all you LIers
I used to work in Hauppauge too, back in the 1970s. I grew up in Oakdale (walking distance from Dowling College) and went to Connetquot HS. One of my best friends still lives in Commack on New Highway. Small World. I will probably be visiting her next Summer. Maybe we should get together then and schmoooz over a nice low-fat yogurt or something. By then I should be at goal and wouldn't even mind being seen on the Beach in a swimsuit. Smith Point and FIre Island are where I spent my summers back in those days. My in-laws still summer on their boat in East Hampton, which is probably where we will be staying.

My arm/elbow is doing much better. The Dr wants me to use it as much as possible. I have to say it is very tired by the end of the day, but I am so glad that it isn't in a cast.

Hugs,
JanieD

Thumbs down

Hi Buddies

Janie, what a small world is right!! This is so cool. That's the beach that we go to, Smith Point!!!! I haven't been to Fire Island in a while even though I love it there. We usually sit by the marina & watch the ferries going out there. Wow! I can't believe this. East Hampton is beautiful. I call it the town of Big Bucks! Glad to hear your elbow is getting better. I had shoulder surgery 3 yrs ago & I felt helpless so I know how you feel.

Jen, I didn't have any chocolate today but then again it's only 4:00 pm. Did you ever hear that to get rid of a sweet tooth eat a pickle? Maybe I'll try that tonight.

I was thinking about Terri this morning. Wondering when she's coming home. Seems strange not seeing her posts. Dianne too.

I've been thinking of Myra. Hope everything is okay with her Dad.

Till later

Hugs,
Es

Hi gals,

Here is the old soup recipe.
(1992 WW week one handout)
Favorite Vegetable Soup

Makes 2 Servings
Each serving provides 2-3/4 veg

1/4 Cup diced onion
2 Packets instant chicken broth and seasoning
2 garlic cloves, minced
1-1/2 cups thinly sliced zucchini
1/2 cup thinly sliced carrot
1/2 cup chopped and seeded tomato
1 teaspoon chopped fresh parsley
1/2 teaspoon basil leaves
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper

In saucepan, combine onion, broth mix, and garlic (I spray it with some olive oil Pam) and cook, stirring occasionally, until onion is translucent. Add remaining ingredients and stir to combine; cover and cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, for about 10 minutes. Add 2 cups water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium, cover, and cook until vegetables are soft, about 20 minutes. Using a slotted spoon, remove about 1/2 cup vegetables from saucepan and set aside. In blender container in batches, puree remaining soup; return pureed mixture to saucepan, add reserve vegetables and heat through.

I always make a triple batch, if not more, and freeze portions in those cheap Ziploc containers. By the way I blend it in the pot with a Braun wand blender, one of my favorite toys.
Hope you enjoy the soup too.

What else is new?
I have heard of the pickle solution, but haven't tried it myself.

I am keeping Myra in my thoughts and wishing for the best today.

Janie, I am glad to hear your arm is not too achy.

I had 2 good days OP, but today is more of a struggle, the holiday leftovers are still lurking and beckoning.

Take care all,
Sandy

Sandy, thanks a lot for the old recipe. I really appreciate it. I'm going to go lurk around the WW site. Haven't been there in a while. I have no motivation whatsoever. It's awful. I don't know what's wrong with me. This has been going on for the past 2 yrs. I try to think positive but it doesn't seem to be working this time. I even go to the website which I can't mention here, where they're on program 24/7 to see if it motivates me but nothing, nada, zilch!!!

Oh well I'm not a quitter so I guess that's why I won't give up. Exercise is no problem and now that I have my treadmill I can exercise whenever I want. I'm also going to get back into Taebo. Water, soup, exercise daily, journal, will keep me on track.

Till manana(tomorrow)

Soup sounds yummy. I'll try it.
BR: coffee cake, coffee 5 pt
L: sub 6 pt
D: manwhich 6 pt
Dessert : cake 10 pt
soy milk 2 pt
Total 29 pt
My daughter made an early anniversary cake for me and my husband. It was very thoughtful.

Angry Subway

Does anyone know how many pts. the 6" turkey breast sub is with vinegar & oil? Dotti's has the sub but I'm trying to figure it out with the oil. It's hard to say because they put it on but I always tell them not too much.

Have a great day

Till later

Hi Viola

Happy Anniversary, how many years it? I just had my 25th in NOV.

Hi Es,

I hope we can help each other with motivation. I am still faltering with my plan to get back on track. Last night we had a potluck dinner to go to. There were too many high pt. choices, and I went there too hungry. Today I have to go to a conference where I will not have food choices, just what they provide.

I think the exercise can become a motivation to eat better after a while. If you are enjoying the treadmill, and all the toning and increase in energy from the exercise, I bet you will start to think in terms of adding to those benifits by eating healthier too.
Endorphins Rule!

I have to admit that I am not there yet, but working my way back towards the good habits. I had a great 8 month stretch from Aug 2000 until April 2001, but I have been struggling ever since.

Hi Janie, Jen, Myra, Terri, Dianne
Hope I got you all,
Later,
Sandy

Today is my 3rd day OP and I'm feeling more in control of myself. One day at a time.

Myra, hope things are going well with you father. I actually tried the Boca Burgers I had in the freezer, and was pleasantly surprised by how good they were.

Sandy, thanks for the recipe, it's the one I've been using, with some variations based on what I've got on hand. I've got a Braun wand also, and love it. Emeril calls it the "boat motor".

We've got a birthday dinner to go to this evening; my brother's bday, so he chose the place, a microbrewery in the city. I've had 4 pts. for breakfast, will have a salad for lunch; that means I'll stay within my pts. range in spite of tonight's celebration. It's a good feeling to plan and actually follow through with the program.

have a great weekend!

~Jen

I went to WW this morning but didn't stay for the meeting, I'm down 2.6. I'm a happy camper. I'll be back later.

Love,
Es

Congrats on the loss, Essie!

Janie, sure is a small world. We do have to get together! I would be wild!

BTW my dad did well and is now home resting. I think my parents were glad we were able to be there with them.

I hope all are doing well.

Myra, glad your dad is comfortable back at home. It's good that you're close enough to be there when he needs you. I'm curious, how did you handle the two days of eating challenges?

Es, if you guys did get together, I'd be jealous but I bet you'd have a blast.

We had a nice time last night with my bro and his wife; most importantly, I did not go over my points! Eating/drinking out is a huge challenge for me, so I feel great about it this morning.

Terri, glad to hear from you.....safe trip home

Dianne, hope you're soaking up some sun down there, have fun!

We're having a quiet day at home today, no grandsons, but no mess either!

Just tried to make the best choices I could. I also brought a bunch of low point snacks with me. I actually did okay. On the high end of my range, but okay.
