Tina, more heat? Are you nuts???? I am dying here. I really don't do very well in the heat. I do agree that you have had enough rain though. Are you feeling any better?

Recipes involve cooking. Isn't that a profound statement? lol We did chicken, pineapple, and mushrooms on the grill last night. Delicious! I also made some cole slaw, so that was the only "bad" part of the meal.

The van is great! I told the guys I don't want to take it on the trip that Melissa, Carol, and I are taking for a few days because I don't think I can parallel park it. We had a van before, but this one seems so much bigger to me. I haven't told M and C that we have a new van. Just waiting to see if they notice when I pick them up. Carol has driven the past two trips we've gone on lately, and we don't take Melissa's car because it is so hard to get in and out of.

We're supposed to go to a family reunion tomorrow, but I think we are going to pass on it. Bob is working at the Eagles here in town for several hours, and I'm just still worn out from the vacation. I have to be ok to leave on Sunday with Carol and Melissa.

Tammy, Where are y'all going? It's not to that b&b is it? I'm thinking that is only during the holidays.
Sorry about all your heat. One thing about all this rain is that the temps are in the 70's. During the day, I've had the front door open and the a/c off. Of course, I'm using the dryer so the bill probably won't be any lower. :dizzy:

We are going to Holmes County, Ohio. There are Amish settlements in that area, so we will be hitting lots of shops. We are staying at a B (no breakfast). We have been there a couple times before, but it has been at least 6 years we think. I'm sure we will see many changes. We leave in the morning, and we'll be home sometime on Wednesday.

I have the AC turned off right now, but I'm sure I'll have it on later this morning.

We've had some rain lately, but we could really use more. It has been so dry and hot. Hope your rain stops because I know you've had way too much.

It has rained so much here. Everything is nice and green but it's too humid!!!

Pat and I had a fun week. We went up to the OKlahoma border (1hour away) to the Indian casino the other day. We had a lot of fun.

I'm going to a sign lanugage workshop all week. YUCK!! I had forgotten about it. Actually I am being bad, I was suppose to go tonight from 5-9.

Tammy, I don't think I could drive that van and park it. :) Have fun on your trip!!!!!

Tina, I'm going up to the jewelry store next week for a day or so to help clean up. Nothing much....

Well, I have a sign language workshop all week. Today was actually fun!

Tomorrow is Seamus' 3rd birthday. I know that there is going to be the biggest birthday party in Heaven!!!! I'll be sending him balloons along with a note. I'll make one of his favorite meals of french toast. When I was pregnant he would love it. I think we had french toast once or twice a week :)

Tina, the casino won all the money! Like normal! How are you feeling? All this rain has a bunch has my allergies working overtime.

Tammy, Tina and I would love to go to the Amish country.... maybe we could go there for our trip

I would love to plant some things in the front flower beds. It's just too hot to be out there---any time of the day. It's definitely summer. Somehow I seem to forget every year how hot it's going to be. :lol:

Susan, how did you do yesterday? I hope it was more of a celebration than a sad time.
Are you frying up there? It is sooo hot here.
We had the car in the shop for a few days. Yesterday, first day back, it ran hot on me. We returned it and the guy put in a new thermostat and didn't charge us. He did it in just under an hour (before closing). So hopefully, that was all the problem. I'm not going very far from home today.

Is everyone drinking plenty of water in this weather??? I hope so.

Hi Tina,

Believe it or not, I had a good day yesterday. I went to my sign language class, and at times I was a little distracted but it was more that I was tired. Lunch time came around and 2 of my friends and I went out to lunch. I treated for a celebration. My family all called. I took out flowers to the cemetery and released 3 balloons.

Then for dinner, I made his favorite meal of french toast. I even has some grapefruit before dinner because he loved it too. He would really move around then.

All in all, the day was good. I emailed the doctor and 2 nurses that I've stayed in contact with and thanked them for all of their care and love.

Thank you for always being there!!!!

Yes, I feel like we are cooking here! I start sweating the second I walk outside because of the humidity.

Susan, Bob and I have gone to southern Indiana to a couple of casinos there. We always have a fun time. I like to watch the people, and I also like the video poker machines. lol I hope your workshop is informative, and more fun than you thought to keep you interested!! I can't believe it has been three years already. Thinking of you!!

Tina, you would have had fun in the shops. One woman said she was going to close her shop for the day and just take off with the three of us because she thought we were having just way too much fun!

I bought several things, and I was very pleased with all of the purchases. I bought a Welcome thing to put at the front door, a tall garden stake with a heart with 2 birds and a small gazing ball on it, a new over the shoulder "healthy back" bag, a smaller purse with a long handle that will fit and match the shoulder bag (Vera Bradley type only less expensive), a cutting board with suction cups on the back, several different types of cheeses that are made there, a couple things of chocolate for Bob and Tim, a couple of t-shirts for me (one says something about being retired), a book about the Amish (I have so many questions about them!!), and I'm sure something else that I can't remember.

I have to be honest with you about something. I really could have lost a friend this weekend. At the inn, we were talking about the vacation that Bob, Tim, and I just took (they asked about it). Melissa started in on how she couldn't understand how we could afford to take so many trips. She and her family never take trips, etc. Then when we would be shopping, she would comment about how expensive everything was, how she would have to mortgage her house to buy anything. I started feeling guilty about the vacations that we've taken, and then I was feeling guilty because I was buying things. At one point I was looking at the smaller purse and actually put it back on the shelf because I didn't want to listen to her. Carol did the same thing with a purse at the same place. We had gone on to another store, and I decided that I WANTED that purse. I told them I'd be back and what I was doing. Carol came with me. I finally admitted to her how upset that I was getting and found out she was feeling the same way. I had to tell her something because I was crying. Now that is ridiculous!

Melissa and her husband both work, and I know he makes great money. They always have new vehicles, and I know they get new furniture in their home every few years. She spends money too but in a different way. The furniture we bought when we moved here was the first living room furniture that we had purchased since l991. We were also still using a living room suite that we bought in 1983. I wanted to bring that stuff up to her but I kept my mouth shut. You would have been proud.

By the way, I do know her daughter bought a REAL Vera Bradley purse that cost $30 more than mine. Wonder if she ever says anything to her?

Sorry I'm sounding bitter here, but I guess I just had to get it off my chest. Thanks for listening!!

Lunch today with the teacher's group. I think it will be a small group because a couple are sick and a couple are on vacations. Even if there are only 2 of us there, we'll have a good time.

Thanks! Bob was very proud of me too, and I know Carol was. She was having trouble keeping her mouth shut also.

I found this website on the label on the cutting board. I haven't checked it out, so I'm not sure what is there. www.architecproducts.com I'm like you with the cutting boards running away. We had one once that curved over the edge of the counter. We loved it. You could put hot pans on it right off the stove. It was great. It broke of course. We found others similar to it, but no hot things can go on it.

The van was great! I really do like it. We had a console put in yesterday between the front two seats. That will come in handy.

Tim goes back Aug. 10 for percussion auditions. I sure hope he makes the band. We already bought season football tickets! I won't want to go if he isn't in the band. If he makes it, we'll take the rest of his stuff over to school that weekend or sometime the next week. He'll just take the basics with him that day. If he doesn't make the band, he'll be home until the end of the next week.

Tim is doing a ride-along with a policeman in a nearby town tonight. Bob is up at the club, and I'm doing laundry. Late to do laundry, but we all took showers late. I'm planning to run to Wal Mart when the washer is finished, then I'll dry the stuff when I get home.

Tina, thanks for the concern, I'm doing just fine. My kidney infection is all cleared up, thank goodness, that was no fun at all.

Honestly, I haven't been coming on here b/c I have not been OP at all...I haven't weighed myself in a while and I'm quite confident that I've gained back at least 5 or 10 lbs, not sure though. I just wish I could take a summer hiatus and start back up in the fall when there's nothing else to do. Anyone else know what I mean? Other than that, everything is good. Dave and I have (impulsively) decided to take a trip to France this October. We're going with another couple and we've rented an apt in Paris for the week. So, I guess I'll really have to get myself back on track.

Anyway, I hope everyone else is well! Take care!

France????? Count me in!!!! lol What a wonderful trip you'll have!!! Tim was in France when he traveled with the Ohio Music Ambassadors a couple years ago. Beautiful pictures.

I've done ok today. I tried to balance checking and savings account things, and there was a $1500.00 mistake in our checking account. I almost cried. Well, Bob had been to the bank and withdrawn $1500 because he thought he was going to Tampa to visit his brothers. He had forgotten that he did it (duh), the money is in one of his dresser drawers. Anyway, it was supposed to come out of savings and not checking. Why he didn't mark it down, I'll never know. He went to the bank, and they put the $$ back into the checking so now I don't have to panic because it was lower than we usually keep it. He has been so forgetful about simple things. I've mentioned it to him, but it doesn't do any good because he doesn't think he is.

We are taking an impulse trip after church tomorrow, and we'll be back on Tuesday. We're heading to one of the gambling boats in southern Indiana. It's close to Cincinnati and some malls there.

Wish we would hear from everyone.

Chantal, Paris, how fun!!!! We did Paris in a day about 6 years ago when my husband was working in England for the week and I went along.

Tammy, I am very proud of you for not saying anything because I got mad just reading your post. You have worked hard to be able to take trips, etc.... plus it's none of her business what you do. Thanks for the website too.... but REALLY Tina and I want you to take us with you next time :) Have fun on your trip with Bob! Hope you win BIG!!!

Tina, Glad you are feeling better! My allergies have been bad since we've had so much rain. I go back to school on August 20 and the kids come on the 27th. I feel like my summer is just starting with all that has gone on. I'm glad that we go back late this year!!!

Well, I'm cleaning the house or at least trying to, I'm not getting much done. Pat's playing tonight, I'm babysitting his friend's puppy that has been here for 2 weeks. She goes home tomorrow. It will be quiet without her. I told Pat I was going to keep her and his friend could get another dog. He said "Ok, I like that idea."

Are you all sitting down? Our trip was a success. We brought home $2800 more than we took! Can you believe it????? The 2nd night, our room was free, our breakfast was free, and out lunch yesterday was at a discount. I think I like that place!! They also have Ben and Jerry's ice cream there. lol The first night was ok at another hotel/casino, but it wasn't where we won and had all the goodies.

Susan, I agree that it isn't any of her business what I do and where I go. I just hope if it happens again, I'll be able to be quiet!

I've gone to 2 cycling classes this week. I'm going to one tomorrow that is an hour and half. It's suppose to burn lots of fat. I'll let you know if I can walk tomorrow :)

I will let you know how I survive. The only good thing is that this is a fat burning class so the intensity isn't too bad. It will be new to me.

I guess Mitch has decided he is finished with training me. I'm not sure. He called last night but wants me to go with him to pick out a ring for his girlfriend. I'm like what about training me. I think right now he has too much going on with a new job, etc....... I'm going to ask him when I'm up at the gym.

Tina, it's never rained here as much as it has this summer. We've almost broken our year record, in just a few months. However, it is nice having the grass REALLY green.

Tammy, how are you feeling? Make sure you get some rest!!!! Don't blow all that money in one place :) I'm so happy for you.

I still think we all need to get together someday. What are you all doing tomorrow??? lol

We've had rain off and on, but it really hasn't helped much. The lawns are pretty brown around here.

Tina, I never totally got rid of the underarm flab, but the water aerobics class sure helped. I signed up for the class this summer, and I haven't made it to one yet. I guess I shouldn't have signed up. It started when we left for vacation, then it was TOM, then I went with Carol and Melissa. I feel funny going now since the class is half over.

Susan, I've heard of those classes, but I've never attended one. I don't know if I could do it.

I've been hurting, and I know that it is my own fault. I haven't been getting the rest that I know that I need because I'm always doing something. This weekend won't be any help because it's an Emmaus Weekend and I'll be helping out in the kitchen and other things. I'm also on a Relay For Life team, and it is this weekend. I'll be busy with that too. I have a card beside the computer with my crazy schedule for the weekend. I do have the things for today marked off, so that's a start.

I took some things to the consignment shop today, and I had $27 waiting for me!! Woo hoo! I bought a shirt while I was there ($6). It was brand new! It still had the tags from K-Mart on it. I also bought jammies. Bob thinks it's gross because I'll wear someone else's jammies. They look like they have never been worn. $4

The money from the casino (most of it anyway) went into our savings account. We'll be getting a bill for the fall semester soon, so you know where that $ will be going.

I bought a shirt on our trip that says RETIRED. Under that it says, "Earned it, living it, loving it." I wore it today for the first time and received many comments on it. All positive. I met with Melissa for our Emmaus Share Group. That's the first I've talked to her since the trip, so I was a bit nervous. It went fine.

Good luck at weigh in tomorrow!! I want to move my butterfly! Maybe I shouldn't have moved it all the way back to zero, but I guess starting from there will be ok. I know in my mind that I'm still down some pounds from where I was several years ago. (33 to be exact)

I was thinking that we should all meet at one of those spas in Arizona. Then, it occurred to me that it's way too hot in Arizona. We wouldn't want to get out and do any shopping or sightseeing. Oh well, just a thought. :D :dizzy:

The spa sounds great, but I agree about the heat. And shopping would be a must!!!!!

It has been dreary here all day. Sprinkles off and on.

I think everyone else is out shopping without us.

Some rain here, too. Mainly, it's just been cloudy and grim. Summer should be sun with a few clouds mixed in.

Hi,
I ran errands today then I had lunch with my girlfriend. Later in the day, I watch my student while her mom ran an errand. We had fun.

I've had a headache all day. I finally laid down about 6 and just woke up. I'm not sure what happen to the tv it went to a blank channel, Pat is having a business dinner so he didn't change it. It was nice an quiet. Headache is still there! It's just about that time of month.

No cycling today. I took a break!

I agree about Arizona, way too hot!!!! We should go some place though. It would be a blast!!!

Oh, Amy's daughter has mono, she is only 10. Poor baby!!!!! I had it in high school and was really sick! Plus I took a lot of ribbing on kissing too because I had a boyfriend, luckily he didn't get it.

Tina, I have spent quite a bit of the day napping which I know that I have to do to get myself back up to par. I plan to go to bed early tonight so I can rest up for all of the stuff going on this weekend. I never sign up to work on the Emmaus weekends in the kitchen, I just show up. They know that I come when I am feeling ok.

Susan, I hope your headache is gone and you are feeling better. I agree about Amy's daughter! Poor thing!! I had it in college. I slept through one of my finals!

This is the first I've been on, and I didn't have a problem. I like mushrooms Tina!!!

We are leaving on Tuesday morning for Florida. Bob's older brother has been ill, and we decided we need to go while we still can. We'll be gone a little over a week. Not looking forward to the drive, but the new van should be comfortable for the ride.

I might take my scales with me to keep track of things. Maybe I'll hide them so Bob and Tim don't know.

Tammy, I'm so sorry about Bob's brother. I hope he gets better. That will be a long trip. Y'all be really, really careful. Having the new van is good!

Next month, we are going to North Carolina to see Larry's brother (and crazy wife). His brother has the symptoms of alzhiemers. He is only 56 years old.
We are flying. A car trip is much too far and time consuming. Larry can't be away from work for that long.

Okay, where is everyone? We keep asking but no one shows up.

Tina, Bob's brother has cancer (at least we think he does). He refuses to go to a doctor. With 3 of us driving, it will make it better. We are staying overnight in GA on the way down and again on the way home.

Where will you be in NC? When will you be there? How long will you be there?
I'm retired now, and I could always make a trip there. Let me know!!

Tammy, I'm sorry about Bob's brother. My student's grandmother had cancer and refused treatment too. It's a tough call on what I would do. Guess it depends on all the odds.

Tina, I've been to North Carolina once. it was beautiful. We went there to a family reunion when we first got married.

I got a new battery for my car. that was pretty exciting :)

I want to take the scales to Florida with us. Bob and Tim think I'm weird. With Bob's brother, we don't even know if it is cancer because he has never been to a doctor for a diagnosis. I'm not sure what the disease/syndrom is where you don't go anywhere? Anyway, his brother has not left his house/yard since 1979. I'm serious.

I agree about NC being beautiful. One of my cousins and her family live there.
