~night Owls #26~

Two pages is alot to skim through. So, here's a new thread. Hope you're all doing well op and having a good night. I had a pretty good day....stayed op and got some exercise in. Not much, but SOME. Better than none at all and you know what they say..."gotta keep moving".......even when you hurt.

Susan - Did you get my Birthday card? LOL.....I know, I get a little mushy sometimes.....:D

The weather has been incredible these past few days and is supposed to last through to the weekend. Then we're expecting rain. That's ok.....we could use it.

It WAS nice to have the stables grounds dry out a bit ...even though they are sand....it's still a bit sloppy after heavy rains.

Ok...that's it for me. I'm doing well on program, getting all of my water in ..... FINALLY!!!!! and getting in my fruits and veggies as well. I hope you owls are all doing well and I'll "see" you all tomorrow. Sweet dreams and sleep well my friends.
Hugs,

Punky 11-27-2001 09:10 PM

Hi Everyone!!

Just stopping in for a quick hello and an update for you all. I can finally sleep on my stomach and my right side, no problem, no pain. BUT, I can not even begin to lay on my left side, hurts too much. I thought it was where the sutures are but I felt around and I have bruised ribs right underneath, called the doctor and he said it is not uncommon and will go away in a few weeks. It doesn't hurt at all unless I lay on it so it is not too bad. Also That tape blister that I have may be infected. It really doesn't look like it but I have an area in my left breast that seems to be full of liquid, like a large cyst or something and I am getting a strange rash on my upper chest. My own thought point towards an infection and I am meeting with my surgeon after work tomorrow so we will see what he says, wish me luck. Except for those things, I feel absolutely wonderful and feel very fortunate that I came through the operation so wonderfully.

Judygal, the nipples are intact and reactive, LOL!! Lots of people lose their feeling for a little while in them but mine are fine, walking outside in the cold a few nights ago showed me that.

See ya Everyone
Bren

PJ 11-27-2001 11:48 PM

Brenda - I used to and still do call that "nipple erectus". In otherwords.....are you cold, or just happy to see me?" as my husband would say. :o

I know, I know....shame on me....I'm up to my old shameful comments in here. tsk, tsk.........TOO BAD! Heh-heh.....I know you're all laughing anyway....or atleast blushing a little. LOL

On a serious note though Brenda, I'm glad you're happy you had the surgery done and you're smart to see your doctor tomorrow. You don't want to play around with an infection. The Holidays are here and I don't want my "buddy" to be in any pain. Got it? Good! :D

That's it...just wanted to give you my personal opinion on the boobs thing. Did you get my "boobs" card? About the boobs swinging to and fro?? LOL.....I'm VERY jealous you know Brenda....yours will be nice and perky now and mine will still drop to my knees as soon as I take off my bra. AAAAAAHHHHHHH......I want a "lift".....

Goodnight........sweet dreams and all that stuff all over again.
Hugs to you all,

Candicej 11-29-2001 03:59 AM

judygal 11-29-2001 05:34 PM

Hi everyone.. it was good to see Emmy's post. We haven't posted together in a bit.

School gets rough right about now, because EVERYONE, especially me, wants the 2 week holiday break. My last day is December 18th.

All is well here. Steve is doing okay and no crisis situations have arisin in a while.

Love to you all,
J

Candicej 11-30-2001 01:44 AM

PJ I don't need a butt kick..that was Michelle..I said I cooked way too much but I didn't say I ate it....... I am still op.............but thanks for thinking of me anyway!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!;)

Michelle..maintianing is a good thing!:)

Judy..Christmas break was one of the good things about teaching! Nice tree!:smug:

PJ 11-30-2001 03:10 AM

OOPS!!!! :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o

PJ 11-30-2001 03:21 AM

Judy - Great Tree and I'm glad things have been going smoothly at home for you. Christmas vacation will be here before you know it, hang in there. I've been thinking 'bout 'cha lately!!!:)

I was going through some of my files and in light of the season.....I thought the following was appropriate since we're all hustling and bustling with shopping, work and all the other things that sometimes make us forget to stop and think about what it's all really about:

If Tommorrow Never Comes

If I knew it would be the last time
that I'd see you fall asleep,
I would tuck you in more tightly
and pray the Lord, your soul to keep.

If I knew it would be the last time
that I see you walk out the door,
I would give you a hug and kiss
and call you back for one more.

If I knew it would be the last time
I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise,
I would video tape each action and word,
so I could play them back day after day.

If I knew it would be the last time,
I could spare an extra minute or two
to stop and say I love you,
instead of assuming you would KNOW I do.

If I knew it would be the last time
I would be there to share your day,
well I'm sure you'll have so many more,
so I can let just this one slip away.

For surely there's always tomorrow
to make up for an oversight,
and we always get a second chance
to make everything right.

There will always be another day
to say our I love you's,
And certainly there's another chance
to say our "Anything I can do's?"

But just in case I might be wrong,
and today is all I get,
I'd like to say how much I love you
and I hope we never forget,

Tomorrow is not promised to anyone,
young or old alike,
And today may be the last chance you get
to hold your loved one tight..

So if you're waiting for tomorrow,
why not do it today?
For if tomorrow never comes,
you'll surely regret the day,

That you didn't take that extra time
for a smile, a hug, or a kiss
and you were too busy to grant someone,
what turned out to be their one last wish.

So hold your loved ones close today,
whisper in their ear,
Tell them how much you love them
and that you'll always hold them dear,

Take time to say "I'm sorry, please forgive me,"
"thank you" or "it's okay".
And if tomorrow never comes,
you'll have no regrets about today.

Punky 12-01-2001 08:56 PM

Hi There,

Well lots of things going on here, not so good either. My company is being hit hard by the sept 11th stuff and we are starting to feel the crunch in a big way. Ofcourse we make the orange space suits but our major business is headsets used for communication. You have probably noticed them in many movies and tv, E.R., Castaway etc... Mostly when you see a helicopter pilot. They are light green with an intertwined D & C on the side. Anyway most of our customers are airports, big and small, flight schools, pilot shops etc... Even our big customers, department of national defense, motorola, boeing, etc... are losing business, in turn we lose business. They have been laying off people left and right for a couple weeks now and we only had like 340 employees to start. The layoffs will continue. I found out wednesday that I was being layed off but my boss knows I am a single mom of 2 kids and she pulled some strings for me and saved my job. Instead of being an accounting clerk, starting monday I am an administrative assisstant. I don't know if I will like it or not but atleast I have a job and I also got a 75cents an hour raise, not huge but a nice thing to have. the only problem is that in accounting we dressed very casual, like dockers and a decent shirt, well up there in the administrative offices we have to dress up, the president's office is up there too. So I have had to go out and buy some suits, skirts etc... Now I don't mind this but I am not a dressy kind of person. I have not worn a dress or a skirt in atleast 15 years. I just don't wear that stuff so I will be uncomfortable but I will deal with it. Atleast it will help me stick to my diet, LOL! Well anyway enough of the dreary stuff.

No infection from the surgery. They did drain some fluid out though. He said everything looks great.

Pj, you are soooo funny girl, you are killing me. Well this may sound weird but the boobs take a little getting used to, they are so different. No they don't droop anymore, they point straight out, LOL! They are not what I am used to and seem pointy to me. I like them much better, don't get me wrong but I just have to get used to them.

Judy, that is great that you get a 2 week holiday break, enjoy every minute of it. I have to go back to work for thurs and fri after christmas then I have jan 1st and 2cd off then nothing off til May, our long stretch.

Michelle, I have heard your call, and you should be feeling my foot kicking your butt right about now, LOL! Seriously it is a hard time of year for eating. We are here for you. I skipped last week myself but plan on going on mon or tues.

Candice, sounds like you are doing wonderful, keep up the good work. How hard is maintaining? do you do anything differently? Please share what works for you.

Setina, I miss you girl!

Later owls
Brenda

Candicej 12-02-2001 03:32 AM

Snacked on cheese and crackers last night..I was hungry after PJ kicked my butt for no reason:lol: I stopped at 8 pts worth and I had those banked!

Perky huh Bren.........Mine have gone south!:^: Good you still have a job and I don't like dressing up either!

PJ 12-02-2001 04:41 AM

Brenda - Why do companies do these large layoffs just before the Holidays?????!!!!!!! I KNOW it's because of the $$$$ but why can't they just wait until AFTER the Holiday. It's going to devastate sooo many families and children.....I hate this!!!!! Thank God you've still got your job. I used to love getting dressed for work on Wall Street. I also loved "doing lunch".
Of course, it was always nice to get home and into some comfy clothes but I've had some jobs where I didn't have to get "dressed out" for and I just remember it making me feel really good when I would put on my makeup, get dressed in a "mint" suit, put my sneakers on to walk to the path/subway......go up the World Trade Center escalater and onto the sidewalk to meet my friends for coffee right on those large rectangular sculptures that used to be in front of the WTC. Then, one block from my building....I'd put my heels on. Anyway, you might be surprised and actually enjoy getting dressed up for work. Today, I'm always in shorts and T-shirts or jeans and T-shirts and it's nice to get dressed up once in a while and go out to dinner. I love the Holiday parties. This is my favorite time of year. I'm sure most people feel the same way but I also know that it's a very hard time of year for some who have lost love ones recently and this will be their first Christmas without them.

Candice - Nice snowman.

Judy - Dec. 18th will be here before you know it. I'm so happy for your not having any "bad" spells for a while with your husband. I hope it stays that way over the entire Holiday for you too. How are YOU feeling? Besides anxious about school getting out...heh-heh. Let me know what your weather's like.......I've heard alot of you out there are having warm weather for November/December. Our weather here is very pleasant. Sunny, breezy and mild. I hope it lasts but we will need some rain soon. We've been getting little drizzles now and then and we need quite a bit more than that. I can't wait for the really chilly weather to get here. Yes...it does get down into the high 30's here sometiems.....can't wait to light the fireplace. <grin>

Ok...I'm going back to bed. Woke up, went to check on Jackie (she babysat tonight until 11pm and I was crashed). She said she came in when she got home and told me she was here but I don't remember. I can't believe I fell asleep before she got home....it WAS only two houses away but I always wait up for her. Boy, talk about a guilt trip. Anyway, I'm really tired now and I'm fighting the temptation of hitting the cookies or SOMETHING.....so I'd better get back to bed.
Hope you're all having sweet dreams.
Hugs,

emmy 12-02-2001 02:08 PM

Hi Owls!!

Doing a quick "lurk" and thought I would pop in and say hey to all of you....sounds like everyone is busy . I've been trying to clean and organize so I can make room for the Christmas tree. We like to get a fresh one so I am waiting just a little bit longer....our weather has been so warm that I hope they don't all turn brown...might have to go find a Christmas Tree Farm and cut it fresh..LOL

Pj I loved your poem about "Tomorrow"..so very true...and waht are you doing up at 4 am girl...hope you got back to bed..

Bren So glad your surgery went so well...and gosh..."perky"...mine have gone south for the winter..maybe longer...hehe. I saw your pic awhile back and you are looking really good.....you'll have to share a new one with us soon. I am glad that they worked out a job for you. Sorry about the dressing up but maybe it won't be so bad....after all you've got a new "figure" now.

Judygal Gee...it will soon be time for your Christmas vacation...how are things going at school this year? Hope there have not been any fights...Glad to hear that Steve is doing good right now..hope that keeps up. Always good to see you too...

Candice I forget ...you are at lifetime and maintaining ..is that right?? Love the snowman....they are my favorites. Sorry your arm is still bothering you...take it easy..

Michelle It IS hard this time of year and I understand about you NOT wanting to waste your coupons but don't let that be an excuse to eat whatever you want.....I've been there and done that and it is so hard to get back to where you were/are. Speaking of that I need to take my own advice..so I will... I could use one of PJ's famous Butt kickins myself...

Well...Hello to all of you

Better get back to the cleaning at hand.

emmy

Punky 12-02-2001 07:28 PM

Yikes, I am ready but nervous!

I have been shopping all weekend, thank gosh I had some savings put away. I bought 3 suits, some skirts, slacks, shirts, etc.... I am nervous about learning a new job but atleast I know all of the people up there somewhat. I also will be dealing with out of our regional managers which we have in hong kong, the netherlands etc.... Hope they all talk good english, LOL!

PJ, yes it is so sad about all the layoffs and at this time of year too, hurts lots of people. People must have to leave the building as soon as they get layed off because they just disappear, you see them in the morning and then you don't see them again. I have to say though, that I am a little bit excited about dressing up, I will be wearing a skirt tomorrow. I am nervous but excited, don't like anyone to notice me.

Emmy, the card for my digital camera bit the dust and I need an 8mb or smaller for my camera. The smallest I can find is 16mb. I am still looking though and will send a picture as soon as I can get one.

I gotta go, I have lots to do still

Hello to everyone
Brenda

PJ 12-02-2001 10:25 PM

~Hi There~

So nice to see all of you posting. :)
Last night, none of my "faces" would come up. I put a winking one for Candice's snowman and absolutely NOTHING I tried would make any of them come out. I'm wondering if any of you had the same problem. No biggy, things are working just fine now...obviously.

Brenda - You know what??!! You need to know just how good you are at what you do because regardless of how much that woman likes you....she's still got a job to do and she wouldn't have kept you on unless you WERE a very good worker. You need to know this in your heart when you walk in there tomorrow and "go get 'em girl". ;) Really, good luck and have fun and enjoy this great new opportunity for "bigger and better things" that lie ahead of you. I know you'll do well. You're a survivor and I know you like where you work. You've expressed that many times before and how many people can say that? I'm happy for you Brenda. I wish you many good things tomorrow. Get a good night's sleep and don't sweat the small stuff. Huggies from me to you girlfriend.

Hey Em - So nice to see you! Yes, I DID get back to bed but I hit the tapioca pudding. :o Aw well, I didn't have breakfast until around 10:30am today so hopefully it all balanced out. (wishful thinking, huh? LOL) As for the Christmas tree...I'm with you, we always get a fresh one about 10' high. The Christmas tree farms around here don't have any that big so we've kind of made a tradition of going to the same place every year. It's a bit more expensive but as Bill puts it....it's only once a year. It takes me a full day to put up the lights and another 1-2 days to decorate and I love every minute of it. You'll have to post a picture of you all going to cut down your tree. I miss that from when we lived up north. It always snowed when we went too.....really like it alot. I wish my kids could experience that now but I don't think Florida is in for snow this year. :dizzy:
By the way......here's that kick in the butt you asked for......!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o

Well, I'm off to bed. Have lots of errands to do tomorrow and last minute packages to send off at the post office from he** !!!!!! It's been packed every day last week. Who knows what it's going to be like THIS week. Yikes!

Sweet dreams everyone.........
Hugs,

PJ 12-02-2001 10:33 PM

Oops.....almost forgot my little image for you all. :D

judygal 12-03-2001 08:54 AM

Good morning girls... On Friday, I scratched my cornea. I was was shaking out a table cloth at school and there was glitter on it, which got into my eye. I got treatment on Saturday but didn't go to school today because the ointment blurs my vision and I've a 30 mile drive each way. I'm really not supposed to be on the computer much but I saw so many of you guys posting, that I wanted to say hi.

PJ how's stuff in Florida? What are your plans for Christmas this year?

Bren, that's a shame about the layoffs. Tell me, do you have to buy all new sized tops since your surgery or do the old things still fit?

Emmy, school is going well this year. We too have all this warm weather. Last year, we had 3 snow days before Christmas vacation!

Candice, mine went south too. As a matter of fact, if I stood on my head, I think I'd smother and die!

Michelle, hang in there. This time of year is so tempting. If I maintain my weight over the next few weeks, I'll be happy. I know what you are going through.

Everyone have a great day. I really shouldn't even be here. I'm waiting for 9 am to see if an opthomologist will see me today.

Love,
Judy

PJ 12-03-2001 09:17 AM

"As a matter of fact, if I stood on my head, I think I'd smother and die!"

Judy, Judy, Judy.....(As Cary Grant would have said)......YOU'RE KILLIN ME HERE......HEH-HEH.... I almost pee'd my pants. You're a stinker!!!!!!!! Just my kind of gal. Heh-heh...........

MichelleK 12-03-2001 10:43 AM

Just checking in real quick. Its busy here at work and at home I have been cleaning like a fool and getting ready for Christmas decorations and our tree.

I have been eating not so good the past few days but now that I am back at work I am more disciplined!! I have my WW entree and an orange and a FF pudding left over from last week I never ate. I just want to maintain this month!

I only have 3 more gifts to buy then I am done! Everything in the house is wrapped already! I just need to do my cookie and candy baskets after that! I can't wait...I love doing those!! Last year I wasn't working so it was easy to do during the day...have to plan my evenings now to get them done!

Ok back to work for me! I am really glad to see you all posting again just like old times!! I need you all here!! So ya better be back to post regularly ya hear???

Have a great day!! Michelle

emmy 12-03-2001 11:36 PM

I sure am beat but I wanted to keep my promise to myself and post at least once a day if I am here....I just finished making 50 name badges for the Holiday Brunch we are having at our Convalescent Center on Wednesday morning. I had to run to Sam's Club for it after work and will probably work late tomorrow to finish up the decorating...such a busy week!! We have a Family Night Covered Dish Dinner on Thursday night and A Breakfast with Santa on Saturday morning. Do you guys see FOOD in my future!!! The good thing is that since I am in charge of most of these events I will be way to busy to eat!!! I will keep my ice water by my side at all times!!

You are so right Michelle...it IS good to see so many owls posting and this is the time to be there for each other!! BTW Bren ...How did it go at work today???

Gonna run and will probably breeze in late tomorrow night....in the meantime

PJ 12-05-2001 12:06 AM

Hey Em - Love your wreath avatar. I wish I could get my snow to move on mine. :D I'm glad you appreciated that "kick in the butt". Heh-heh....did it work? I'm not being such a good WW today.....or rather....I WASN'T a good ww today. I wasn't terrible but I know I wont lose anything this week. A maintain is o.k. with me ..... after all .......it IS the Holidays and I like to indulge. Yes, I'll have to work twice as hard as the rest of you afterwards but I'm a baker during Thanksgiving and Christmas and I just gotta do what I've gotta do. ;)

I found the comments on the bottom of my post on a link I found on another thread.....I thought it might be of interest to some of you. ESPECIALLY now....with all the goodies around us. Remember, maintaining is very good for the Holidays. You can have your cake and eat it too....just not the whole thing.

My (I KNOW I'm spelling this wrong) achiles tendons on back of both my feet are killing me. I haven't been riding much and have no idea why it would bother me now. Anyone have any ideas or better yet....any of you ever have pain in the same spot and what did you do to get rid of it. I can hardly walk when I wake up! Geeeez, I'm 43.....not 103!!!!!!!
I'm going to bed.........I'm soooooo sleepyyyyyyyyyy, ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Here's the info I found. Hope you all get something from it.

Set Realistic Weight Goals

Achieving and maintaining a healthy weight is important for good health. But a healthy weight isn't necessarily the one that's suggested by a height/weight chart! There are many techniques for estimating a healthy weight. One of the easiest is to shoot for the lowest weight you've been able to maintain for at least one full year since age 21, when you were active and eating a prudent diet. Who knows—you might be at your healthy weight right now!
Ultimately, you should focus on taking care of yourself today, not achieving some future weight goal. There's no rush, since maximum effective weight loss is about a pound a week.

Candicej 12-05-2001 06:13 AM

Judy..you quack me up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Emmy.. he is cool don't ya think?????

PJ...I have that problem in my legs and sometimes just the calf hurts but try standing on your toes on the edge of the steps and then drop your heels down (below your toes) and feel the stretch!!!!! (make any sense to ya) I am wondering if my orthotics need adjusting but then my Birks don't have them so not sure?????

Michelle. ..do you have a problem with sampleling your treats??? I do so I didn't make any last year but this year I plan to try out my new mixer (If I get one).

Bren....I hate learning new stuff too, make me realy really anxious! Good luck!

Got my new mixer today and it had some nicks and scatches so I called the company and they said take it back to the store. So my son is doing that today and if they have another one in almond I will get that.....those things are heavy and me with my bad arms..this will make you laugh.......The corner I had it in was kinda dark so I moved it over to another part of the kitchen to repack it to take back and when I sat it down on the counter my tummy got pinched inbetween the bottom of the mixer and the counter and my arms wouldn't lift it up! DH was in the tub so I just kept trying..boy did that hurt...Finally got my tummy pulled out and it left a big red mark! :D:o:o

I also fell on Monday while cleaning the bathroom, got a brusied bottom and a sprained foot! Hit my head too but it is ok..I think.....duh......I think....duh...I think........I was standing on the toilet cleaning the shelf above it and when I went to step down I turned my foot and down I went..glad nothing is broken cause I hit the floor hard!:o

PJ 12-05-2001 09:18 AM

Can you say PISSED OFF????!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just finished typing a very nice letter and lost the whole thing. I KNEW I should have hit COPY just in case. This stupid thing does that to me every now and then....AAAGGGGGHHHHHHH. Well,
have a great day. I don't have the time now to post everything I wrote. I'll catch up with you all tonight.
Lots of Holiday hugs and kisses to you all,
~Pamela~
