Congrats Es on not eating that cake. That is awesome.
That was sweet of you to have a party. Then you went to the gym. WOW!!!!!
Sorry about the Yanks. They'll do it.

    Talk to y'all later.
    Terri

Just realized it was p. 2 see ya on #85
  • Such self control!
  • Hi Terri, Myra, Dianne, Jen, Joyce, JanieD & Zoe/Patti whew we have grown!

I went to the movies. Got home around 1 hr. ago. Have you heard of K-Pax with Kevin Spacey & Jeff Bridges? Great movie!!! I wanted to see Thirteen Ghosts but Pete saw the coming attractions & said it looks stupid I'll have to go with David or my niece.

Myra, seeing how much you've lost must make you feel so good. You go Girl!!! I met a guy at the gym(I was with Pete) that lost over 100 pounds. You would never think this guy weighed that much!!! I was so impressed. He went to the gym just about everyday & did 1 hour on the treadmill. The days when he can't make it he walks. I felt teary eyed when he was telling us at 310 he started walking slowly & would get so out of breath but was determined to get thin.

So that's my goal. To work out at least 5 days a week for 1 hour.
I'm off tomorrow. Have to go for blood work to check my cholesterol. I have to fast for 12 hours. The hard part is not being able to have a cup of coffee in the morning.

Terri, the funny thing about the cake was that I didn't even want it. After everyone left I could have had a piece but all I kept thinking was how sweet it looked!! All that sugar!! I felt good about myself this morning when I realized this was the first time I walked away from birthday cake & ice cream. I have you guys to thank for that. All the support, motivation, inspiration I get here has made me realize I can do this.

    Thanks

    Hugs,
    Es
  • Hi everyone,
It's been a long day, but I wanted to say hello and catch up a bit.

My aunt was released from the hospital yesterday and is home; feeling better but still weak. That was good news; thanks so much to all of you for your prayers!

We had Jess and her family here overnight last night and had a great visit. This afternoon Joe and I had a baptism to go to, my niece's baby boy. They had the "reception" at a hall afterward, with a dj, assigned seating, just like a wedding. Very different than what we're used to. But we saw lots of family and had a nice time.

Terri, I am so happy for you, you're a winner You truly inspire all of us.

Janie, the picture is lovely. Thanks for sharing, it's so cool to put a face to the name.

Essie, I'm glad to hear that KPax is good. I really want to see it...I love Kevin Spacey.

    Hi to everyone else....

    ~Jen
  • Es,
I'll bet it was inspiring to listen to his story. WOW! 310# and now in shape. That is great!
That is wonderful about the cake. Your plan is wonderful. If you really like to work out that is half the battle. You go Girl!!!!!
    I love Kevin Spacey too.
Good luck with your cholesterol check!!!!

    Jen,
I am so glad your aunt is home. I hope she gets to spend some time there.
The Baptism sounds wonderful. Sounds like our Baptisms. That is what we do. My mom rented a hall and had music and food, the whole shabang. Hope you had fun.

Sorry about the Yankees. I can't wait to see the ceremonies at Yankee stadium when they go there. They will get them at home. The fans will be ready.

Did y'all see the pepsi commercial with Ken Griffey Jr. and Sammy Sosa? Bradley was on the floor laughing. It was cute!!
I tuned into the game after I watched the 9th Band of Brothers.
The final one is next week.

Hi Dianne, JanieD, Myra, Zoe and Joyce
    Bye!
    Terri
  • Hi guys

Jen - Glad to hear aunt ginny's home. I hope she'll get well soon. Great that you had the family over for the weekend, bet you had fun. The baptism sure does sound like a wedding.

Zoe/Patti - great picture of your son and his girl. Handsome and pretty. Is that gonna be your daughter-in-law? Your trip sounds cool, I hope you guys enjoy yourselves.

Es - wow! Great that you were able to walk away from that birthday cake. They would have had to carry me out on a stretcher Just kidding! Lately I've been using my supplies - my mini rice cakes and graham crackers when I feel like a little something. I'm trying That movie looks cool and I love Kevin Spacey too. I heard that when he eats the banana with the skin on it, he said it was the most disgusting thing he ever tasted and that when Jeff Bridges is watching him, he really didn't have to act, he really was amazed that Kevin Spacey was eating that

Terri - I felt bad over the yanks loss, but remember they've come from 3 behind before -- they'll do it!!!!!!!!! I must say the pitcher - Johnson was terrific though. But Pettit pretty much kept up with him. I can't wait til they're back on home turf. I didn't thing the Diamondback fans were as gracious as the Seattle Mariner's fans. We'll see when the yanks win!

Hi Myra, Janie and Joyce, hope you're all doing well.

    Have a great Monday everyone.

    Hugs,
    Dianne
  • Es, I wish I could have had your will power last night. We had dinner at another family's house and for desert they had chocolate chocolate-chip cookies right out of the oven. I had 2. The dinner wasn't too bad points wise because the family is vegetarian. A great salad with romaine, feta, pears and chopped walnuts (alright the nuts are high in points). A really delicious veggie soup. Ellen even ate the brussel sprouts. The main course was a sweet potato pie. Not a sweet one that most people have had for desert but made with herbs and cheddar cheese. It was good but I would have been happy with just the soup and salad. Ellen had a great time because there were 2 boys ages 3 and 8 for her to play with. The little one Cole, wanted Ellen to move in with them and become their sister.

Jen, I am glad that Aunt Ginny is feeling better. She is very lucky to have a niece like you. I don't really know any of my aunts very well. I envy you your close relationship with her. Truth is, my controlling mother had already alienated all of them before I was born.

Zoe/Patti, Your son is very handsome, and it looks like he found himself a nice girlfriend. I hope everything works out for them.

Everybody, Thank you all, I am feeling much better and also for all the gracious comments about my family picture. That was taken in March before I started back OP. NOtice the double chin. Since that is the Before picture I will also have to show you an after when I reach my goal.

Terri, Thank you. I have to agree with you, I think Ellen is very pretty but I am probably a little biased. She actually did some modeling when she was 2-4 years old. Mostly Mervyns ads. It was a major pain in the neck for Steve and I though. I don't reccommend it.

    Have a great Monday everyone,
    JanieD
  • Thanks to all of you for your prayers for my aunt. She was released from the hospital on Saturday, and is feeling better. I really appreciate your concern.

ZOE! I'm so sorry I forgot to say how nice the photo of Chris is! I was tired last night, and lost track of it, it was on the previous thread. He and his girlfriend look great...how old did you say he is? It's hard to believe that we have kids that age, isn't it?

Janie, that dinner sounds yummy. I absolutely love Brussel sprouts. Don't fret about having the cookies...at least you didn't have lots of points in meat also.

Terri, you're Italian, aren't you? My niece's husband is Italian, which is the reason the baptism was on such a grand scale. Apparently it's custom with them. I thought it was great; we've always had baptism and communion parties at home. The baby was wearing a gold chain with an adult sized cross, it was a gift. There were alot of jokes about him starting his Mr. T. jewelry collection!

Dianne, loved that Kevin Spacey story. When I saw the commercials for the film, I thought they had computer enhanced him eating that banana.....yuck!!! Can't wait to see it.

We're going downtown on Saturday evening to have dinner with our friends who live in the high rise (51st floor) on Lake Michigan. She told me today that their building has been surrounded by concrete barriers, and there's a police guard of 6 at the entrance. I'm not thrilled at the prospect of being in that situation, but realize also that we can't live in fear, right? We always have a good time with them.....so with enough wine perhaps I'll feel better about it.

HI to Es, Myra, Joyce.....thinking of you.

    ~Jen
  • Hi guys

Jen- Glad to hear that Aunt Ginny is feeling a bit better. I hope she continues to improve. Is'nt that sad about the barriers at your friend's hi-rise? Amazing, what we have come to! But its better to be safe than sorry. We can never go back to the way it was, its like a loss of innocence. I watched the memorial for the family members yesterday. They were at Ground Zero. So sad. Even now, it continues to make us cry. It's strange, because it's like we go about our every day lives, but at any moment this great loss hits us again. Well, I guess it's gonna take a long time to get over this, if ever. The one good thing is that we all seem to be a bit kinder to each other, have a little more patience.

Sorry to be depressing, but like I said, every once in a while it just hits me again.

Anyway, I hope you are all doing well. Hi Terri, Es, Janie, Pattie/Zoe and Joyce. Have a great Tuesday!

    Talk to yous tomorrow,

    Hugs,
    Dianne
  • That day will NEVER be far away from our minds. It is still so unbelievable.

    JanieD,
WOW! A little model. That is great! I'l bet it was a hassle though as you said. Great memories though huh?

    Jen,
Glad your aunt is doing a little better.

    Dianne,
Yes, If there is food involved it is an Italian tradition.

    MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL!!!!!!!
    My Steelers trounced the Titans.
Tennessee Titans are only 90 min. from here and a lot of people here are for them. That is all I see is Titans stuff. We went to the game last yr. in Nashville and it was not a pretty sight. LOL
I sat entranced for the full 3 hours. THE BUS STOPS HERE!!!!!

    Sorry, just a little excited!

    Terri
  • What to watch?

Tonight is the Wizards and Michael Jordan against the Knicks in the Garden and then the World Series. I am switching back and forth. I love Jordan. Spike Lee, who has a season ticket for the Knicks, auctioned off his wife's seat for the widows and children of firefighters. Someone anonymously bid $300,000 and opted not to go and is sending a missing firefighter's daughter
in his place. Matt Louer on the Today Show asked Charles Barkley (Jordan's best friend) what would happen if Jordan took the Wizards to the play offs. He said "They should name a State for him because then he'd be beyond the best player in the world."

Enjoy tonight and may the Yankees win.

    Terri
  • Good morning guys:

LOL -- I think we're so big now we're all getting mixed up with who said what, i.e., Janie - I said your daughter was soooooooooo pretty and Terri - Jen talked about you being Italian and the food Oh, well I guess we are all inter-changeable, we've become so alike!

Hope you guys are having a good day, the weather here in NY is beautiful - in the 50's.

Oh, I meant to ask you guys - have any of you tried the little microwave campbell's soups? I went in search of some low-point lunch stuff and I found these soups - the chicken noodle is only 2 points and the chicken with rice is 3 pts (because of the rice). Anyway I tried the chicken noodle at work yesterday and it was really good. I added 2 sheets of graham crackers and 6 mini rice cakes for a total of 5 pts. for lunch -- not bad.

Well, have a good day ladies - talk to you's soon.

    Hugs,
    Dianne
  • I just found the Healthy Choice soups. The clam chowder is out of this world. It is like 1 point for 1 cup. It isn't bland at all like the Campbells healthy request.
    Dianne,
Thanks for the soup tips, I love chicken noodle too.

    Terri
  • Terri, you'll need picture-within-a-picture-within-a-picture! I wanted to see the Yankees' opening in NY but have meetings to attend this evening, so have to miss it. As far as watching Michael goes....well, he neglected us here in Chicago! Not high on my viewing list. ha ha. And hey, how 'bout those Bears? After I sat ALONE every Sunday watching them lose for the past 15 years, now everyone wants to jump on their winning bandwagon, and watch the games. Fair weather fans. Have fun tonight watching!

Dianne, I agree with you.....sometimes is takes me forever to post, in order to keep straight who said what I'm always going back to re-read!

I'll probably check back this evening.

    later!
    ~Jen
  • Diane, I am sorry, and thank you. I am definately going to have to do more cross referencing to make sure I keep everyone straight.

Jen, Congratulations on those Bears. Out here in the Bay Area when people say "Go Bears!" they are usually referring to UC Berkeley Cal Bears. Just between you and me, I'll think of you whenever I hear it.

Yankee fans, Tonight is going to be very emotional. I am really concerned about the security at the game. The US Attorney General's Office said that this week was a possible terrorist target week. GW is going to throw out the 1st pitch. It is all too coincidental. Sorry to be so negative, but I am really frightened. They have attacked our financial system, our military, our government, now I am afraid that they will want to attack our national pass time. What could be a more symbolic attack on our lifestyle? I pray that I am wrong. Say a prayer sometime today.
