  • Hey guys. Thanks so much for all your support. I'm thrilled about the loss. However I just don't trust it yet...since I've been going back and forth.

October is getting to be quite a hectic month and it just started! I'm stepson sitting this afternoon at work, and while my boss said OK, it's not really. But his after school JCC is not open and it's my turn to help out. This weekend we have him with us as well, which sometimes gets me munching away. Just want to put it out there so I'm at least conscious that I could be sorely tempted.

However, I'm doing a pretty long "run" this coming weekend (Sat) - 12 miles, and have an upcoming event called the Dolphin Run (walking) on Oct 14th which is a 10K (6mi). so at least I've got some decent workouts to even out any minor indulgences.

I got my TOM today and feel sooooo bloated. Can't say I feel like doing ANY exercise right now.

Can't believe some of you guys have already started holiday shopping. Whoa. I'm impressed. Yes, I'm one of those that leaves it usually til the last minute.
  • Patch I can identify with feeling bloated--that's how I was last week.

I went to my weekly meeting and was up .4 which is really no biggy but I was hoping to be down a little more this week. I'm going to push the blame onto the sauerkraut and chips I had yesterday. Sounds good to me

Anyway, it's a perfectly gorgeous fall day here--the temps are actually warmer outside than what they are inside the office. I may just be able to squeeze a walk in after dinner tonight.

Lala: Good luck with your weigh in! Let's hope for a nice loss!
  • Hi All-

I don't know where all my fall faboo weather went. It looks a bit like seattle's best grey out there right now .

So, Patch, sorry that you have to kid sit this afternoon. Is he a self-amusing child? Don't let it stress you out, just take a deep breath and maybe a bit of vitamin b. Gosh, you are quite energetic (a dear friend's word of choice) to do the 12mile walk. Yikes.

Melissa: I chickened out again with wi. I don't know what has happened to me. I guess I am a big scaredy cat. I could wi tomorrow am or saturday, both after high sodium days. Then again, the following week I could wi much lower. The games we play.

    I love sauerkraut!

So, I wish my pal Laurel good luck tomorrow with the rest of her tests.

I am ready to eat my keyboard today. I hate late lunches.

    lala
  • lala: Our weather here has turned dark & grey...rain is coming and the temps are going to plummet into the 50's (we hit 79 yesterday). Anyway, this is very typical fall-like weather. I can relate to your not wanting to go for wi--I know though that once I force myself to go I feel better and it gives me an idea of where I'm at with my weight loss efforts. For what it's worth, I think each week/time you put it off only makes it that much harder to "bite the bullet". I like mixing the sauerkraut with some noodles, kind of a mock pierogi.

Last evening was a eating night...I can only figure that it was because I had eaten low point earlier in the day and the evening just unleashed something in me...I'm starting fresh today
  • Good morning!
It's a grey day here, too - our weather sounds like yours, Melissa , it's supposed to only hit about 50 today & Friday sounds even cooler.

Well (whine whine) I was up AGAIN last night - a whopping 2.2 pounds; no real explanation - I made stir fry on Monday & ate it for supper both Monday & Tuesday night - used garlic pepper & garlic salt - maybe it was some water retention. I am down a pound on my home scale this morning from the last two days, so I am figuring this is a little blip in the week. I think I will see what I weigh on Friday morning at the WW meeting I do.

Going to visit my family in the Twin Cities this weekend - leaving Friday night after DH gets off work & returning on Tuesday. Haven't been home for 3 months - my mom is in the process of having the house resided, so I'm anxious to see how that is turning out - the color was awful, so any change will be great.

Does anyone else have any fun plans for the weekend?

lala - when exactly are you coming to Milwaukee? It would be fun to meet - it's about 100 miles from where I live - a bit of a drive, though.

    Later,
  • Good morning,

Well I got weighed in last night and was down a pound. Good news for me although I attribute it to being over TOM. I had hoped for a better loss, are we never happy?? Anyway I will get these last 2 pounds off sooner or later. Why is it so much harder to lose the last few? Our weather has also turned grey and windy and cold. How many points do you girls eat? I usually eat about 25 avg a day. I am 5'2 so maybe it is to many to actually lose on, I'm not sure. For exercise I walk most days about 40 minutes. I am not really counting those bites, licks and tastes!!

I can't believe it is Oct already. Everyone keeps reminding me of Thanksgiving next month. I am not ready. It would be nice if life didn't focus so much on food. Well, I have to get groceries so I can eat better this week LOL.

    Have a good day.

  • Good morning all.

First, the weather report Sunny and temps expected to reach 24 Celsius.

Unfortunately, I am personally in a dense fog this morning. I believe I've seen comments from Laurel and katie about sleep problems. Well, I've had a lot of trouble sleeping too these past few months. After being awake half of Tuesday nite, I stayed up as long as possible last nite and took an over-the-counter sleep aid.
I got sleep, but am so groggy today I can barely function. Don't know what the answer is, but this sure is not pleasant. I'm resisting the urge for a second coffee, but I may be forced to since I can't form a coherent thought.... (I've been writing this reply for 10 minutes so far)

katie: Try not to be too bummed out about the gain. It will come off quickly too. Your numbers are always good, so it may just be water as you suggest. Hope you enjoy your weekend home.

daytona: I probably average close to 30 points. I'm 5'7" and I just can't seem to get by on the 18-23 suggested for my weight. I'm still trying to lose, and I think I could on an average of 25. I just need to cut out the high-point weekends.

melissa: Good to see you're dusting yourself off and starting anew today. I wouldn't worry about it; you follow the program so well!

lala: I can identify with the scale game. I play it often. For me, it's sometimes best to just go and face the music. It's often not as bad as anticipated, and sharing my fears with the ww staff has resulted in some good tips. The last time I felt like that, they gave me the plateau-busting booklet and it helped.

laurel: Are your tests now over with? Hope the news was all good.

patch: I'm impressed with all of the running/walking you do. I'm slowly working my way back up to a 10K run and hope to do one in the next month or so. Now that the temps have cooled, I think I can manage it without much difficulty. Too bad that I'm back where I was last year just in time for cold weather and perhaps less outdoor running than I would like.

Gee, this is turning into a book. The ramblings of a drugged mind. Sorry. Later.
  • Hi all.

well, I weighed in after yesterday's debauchery (chinese, hot, spicy and salty) and I was down 1 lb. . so, I am thinking, "lala, you are on your way down girl, go girl go!"

I am so ready to stop paying and become lifetime. I tell you, the first time I went to WW, my high was 3 lbs. lower than my goal this time. Yikes.

I stayed for the meeting and it was interesting- about how one fills one plate. It was an interesting mix of people, lots of new joiners with big losses and some couples, which I found very interesting. Lots of sturdy men in the group today.

So, onwards and onwards. Its rather lovely today, I, of course hit the gym instead of going outside. The dog drag and sniff was really long, so I got to scrutinize and drool over some amazing plantings. The dog, he could have gone forever.

Melissa: I have a cabbage, chanterelles and some nitrite free bacon that is going to make an outstanding cabbage dish tonight. Yum and about 2 pts for an enormous bowl.

kt: I would love to meet, but I think this is a quick family bonding trip. I am really interested in going to madison, so maybe this spring we can meet!

Daytona: I am in the losing phase, I am a munchkin (you are tall in my book ), so I would say that I average 25 pts a day. I probably earn 2 to 3 activity points a day that I don't count, but probably get frittered away in blts too.

Seesaw: zzzzz. I can relate, 4 hours of sleep is what I am getting these nights. I can't believe I have any energy at all.

Nice weather, enjoy a run later in the day and man, at least your tomatoes will finish ripening.

Patch: Are you feeling better this week? I guess I have two upcoming trips to LA, January and March, maybe we can woohoo together.

So, okay, I'm late getting started in the day. Have a great one.

    lala

So, I am hoping the Laurel is doing okay.
  • Lala: Way to go!!! You're on the downward spiral
  • Yo' Lala... you go girl! now what's this about... "lots of sturdy men???"
And, yes I'm more or 'less' back on track eating wise... and yes, yes - it would be my treat to woohoo ya out here in LA. Just let me know and we'll woop it up - at Woohoo's. Of course this invite goes out to all you gals if you ever are in the area.

Seasaw, I'm groggy this morning through no fault but my own, just stayed up later than usual. Hope you had a better night last night.

Daytona I'm 5' 4 1/2", and find I really need to stick to a plan of 18-23 at least 3 days a week, and not really go above 25 the other days - in order to get my body to lose. And those BLT's really do add up - drat. Plus, I have to exercise (grrrrr) at least 3-4 times a week fairly intensively (45min or more) to get my metabolism up. I'm 45, so da body ain't what it used to be, and it takes more effort to lose.

Katie - I read that you might weigh in this morning (Friday) to see where your bod's at. Hope you got a nice surprise. Hang in there.

Well, I'm gearing up for the 12 miler tomorrow. Except for waking up at 4:30 am - we meet at 5:30, it's not as daunting as it sounds. We take it at a decent pace and have lots to chat about. And then we're done by 8:30 and go for breakfast!!! If I do this right I'll have 10 extra activity points to spend.
  • Hello, hello. Missing in action this week, sorry. But all the lovely tests are over and all is okay. Mood and brain seem to have returned to a normal good state. Yippee! If anyone needs a little entertainment, you can check out my yesterday's journal (Thursday, 10/4). I had decided to just let it all go yesterday after my trials & tribulations. To be honest, eating all that greasy food made me feel kind of sick - and grateful to be back on track today. I actually prefer eating "light", high fiber, low fat - did I ever expect to hear myself say THAT??!!!

I can't remember if I've shared my latest self-revelation, which is that I am content at current weight, do not want to lose further, not even for the fun of seeing the scale go down and want instead to focus on physical fitness both of the cardiac and the muscular toning varieties.

It is absolutely beautiful out and I hope that continues for the weekend. No firm plans except to see my local favorite musician-guy, Travis Wetzel. The man plays a mean fiddle. Awesome! Need to do lots of garden puttering and worm picking. Should be fun.

    Got the fingers crossed anyway.

    Talk you all later.

    Laurel
  • Hi all-

Having a very slow day. I have tons of work to do and absolutely no desire. bummer eh?

Laurel: I'm glad that the tests are all okay. I think that puttering, worming and fiddle listening are definitely in order for the weekend.

DP is going to Berkeley this weekend. I am going to spend this time putting away garden furniture and mowing the lawn and putting the garden to a semi-bed state. Still gotta buy and plant bulbs. Sunday is a bulb sale and I am really going to stick to some sort of limit (yeah, right).

Patch: sounds like you have a great group to race-walk/run with. I would love to woohoo with you. The offer is reciprocal. Anyone coming to beautiful Seattle is more than welcome to be my guest for a lovely lunch somewhere. Gosh knows where, we are not known for our fish tacos, but our fish and chips. Anyhoo, I could buy you a nonfat decaf latte from the original starbucks .

Okay, I should consider the amount of work that needs to be done and how much I feel like getting done and then just forget it and get it done.

    sigh.

    lala
  • Lala: I can totally relate with the lack of motivation to get things done. I have things here on my desk that need tending to but no motivation to get moving on it. I'm off on Monday to do some dress shopping.

Patch: Good luck on the race tomorrow!

Laurel: Sounds like things are going well for you. Glad things worked out with the tests.

I have no major plans for the weekend--hubby is playing rugby on Saturday and as long as it's not pouring out I'll be there on the sidelines. I need to get some transcription work done and other than that catch up on some housework. I'm sure there's other things that need tending to as well.

    Happy Friday everyone
  • Good morning all,

Thanks for the point info, I have determined I am eating to many points to lose any weight. Maybe I would lose if I wanted it to take a year LOL. With being a lifetimer for 7 years and staying at the same wt, up and down within a pound or two has gotten me too used to being less concerned with what I eat. Used to be I could over eat and lose the wt in a few days. Must be this old body (46) trying to tell me enough is enough. I am going to try and eat lower a few days of the week and see what happens. I don't want to settle for this wt because it is just to easy to justify a gain of any kind then before you know it you need to loose 10 plus pounds.

What type of dress are you shopping for Melissa? I just had a wedding last night, it was nice. Good excuse for a day off.

Patch, how did the walk go? The most I have walked is a 5k, I don't mind it when you have someone to talk to , makes it go by fast and I would love the breakfast thing!!

    Have good day.
