Holiday Challenge 2006

Hi everyone! I'm a new poster, but longtime reader of 3FC :D My office just started a WW at work program, and this is my first week. I'm feeling great so far! Just for funsies, I'm going to try to lose 10 lbs before Christmas - that should keep me honest for the next few weeks at least!

Who's with me? Up for a little holiday challenge?

(Please forgive me if there's another one of these somewhere...I looked around, and couldn't find one!)

Hi Koloratur, I accept your challenge. I myself don't think it is too realistic to lose a significant amount of weight right now we are going into the Holiday Season but I am going to stick to my current weight loss plan of the Fat Smash diet. This way I can be held accountable and not gain a huge amount of weight. for the holidays. Between now and Christmas I give Myself a goal of 8 lbs.

Nope Koloratur - no one has started this one -- THANK YOU! I'll join as our November/Thanksgiving threads are coming closer to a close.

1. Keep to Basics.
2. Journal, journal, journal
3. Keep all Holiday treats to one serving or less if I choose to spend my points on them
4. Lose an additional 5 lbs and get to that 179 mark.

I would love to start 2007 at 179. That would be so exciting. The last time I saw that mark was July 1997.

I'm up for the challenge. My goal is to be in ONEderland by New Year's. That's 10 lbs. It's been a long time since I was less than 200 lbs and it would be great to start 2007 there. Even with the holiday season, I think we can do it! Good luck to everyone!

Count me in! I only started WW 2 weeks ago. My goal was to lose 10 pounds by Thanksgiving (I have lost 6.6 to date with weigh in tomorrow) and to lose a total of 20 pounds by Christmas. So if I can make my Thanksgiving goal, that would mean my challenge is 10 pounds by Christmas.

So.....yes, I am committed. Let's do this!

Thanks for starting the thread! I just made my Thanksgiving goal this morning and was looking around before I started a Christmas Challenge thread...you saved me the trouble!

Hhhmmmmm.....lemme see.....I'm thinking I'll try for 10 pounds. Don't know if that's realistic or not through the eating season, but I'll give it my all! 10 pounds gone for Christmas, that'll put me in Onederland for the new year!

I'm in...my first short term goal has been a xmas goal...I'm only 5lbs from it (however, if I'm not better the rest of this week, I'm going to be expecting a gain at WI on Wednesday.)

Need something extra to get me motivated again...thanks for starting the thread!

I'm in with a goal of 11 pounds (I weigh in tomorrow, and am expecting a decent loss). According to my chart that I use I should hit 217 on Christmas Eve. That would be awesome! The last time that I lost weight was in 1997 and I only made it to 218 before I found out I was pregnant with my oldest. So this will be the least I have weighed in a very long time, probably over 10 years. How exciting! Good luck to all!!!!!!

OK, just had to share. Was getting ready to go out to eat yesterday when DH gave me the big eye roll and said you're not really going to wear that, are you? While I felt the same way (the pants were really baggy), I just haven't been willing to spend $$ on clothes that I'm hoping I won't be in for long, especially when I've got all this holiday spending going on.

Today DD asked if we could go to some of the local resale shops....she loves to pick through them. I've never looked for anything for me there because there never seems to be any larger sizes. I said sure and we went, and to my surprise I found a couple things! I started this weight loss journey in Tommy Hilfiger 20W's, which are probably a 22W in any other brand, as they run pretty big. Today I bought a pair of Old Navy jeans and a pair of Lee Riveted jeans both in an 18.....no W behind them!! I also found a pair of Cherokee pants in a 16...again no W. I topped it all off with a Saint John's Bay hooded sweatshirt jacket for my walks in a LARGE!!!! WOO HOO!! And even better yet, I got it all for less than $20!

Now I'm pumped up, and we're getting ready to go out to dinner again. DH said we're going to Applebees so I looked them up in my Dining Out Companion, and I can get a super meal for 5 or 7 points.....this has been a good day!

Hope all of you are enjoying your weekend as well!

WOW Kelly - that's awesome!!!!!

I'm In!

Put me down for 8 pounds by New Year's Eve. That may be unrealistic, but it will be something to work on!

Koloratur 11-20-2006 11:40 AM

Congratulations, Kelly! It's much more fun buying clothes because you've shrunk, isn't it?

boaterswife 11-20-2006 02:49 PM

Koloratur, you're absolutely correct! It's way more fun now to see what size I might have shrunk to, instead of trying something on and hoping I don't need to go up a size!

Crazynette, I feel like our brainwaves must be connected! Avatar's the same, ticker is the same, both want to be in Onederland for the new year, and we're almost the same weight! Nice to see you here!

Sunflower22 11-20-2006 11:55 PM

Hi there!

I haven't posted in a few weeks - but I'm up for the challenge! Here are my goals:

1. get my 10lb award (172.4) and move closer to 15lbs (167.4)
2. go to the gym 3-4 days a week
3. Only allow myself to splurge one day a week and politely decline all offered treats.
