I ate a cinnamon roll...

  • .... and I'm not sure how I feel about it!

Once every few weeks I break down and make a can of those Pillsbury cinnamon rolls for the kiddos for breakfast. Every time I've made them since I started WW I've walked past them just fine...no problems!

This morning, however, they looked and smelled SO GOOD! I stood there and debated (that should've been my first clue!) and then decided to have one...ONLY ONE! To ensure that I couldn't have a second, or third, I put it on a napkin and took in the car with me on the way to work. No way to get a second one!

I figured out the points from the can and it came to 3 points. I know that's not an extremely high number, like if I'd purchased one at the mall or something, but I'm still a little confused about how I feel! I don't really feel like I "cheated", but I also know that it wasn't the best choice I could've made.

I have to say, though, that I enjoyed every bite!
  • I treat myself once a week to something i crave..that way i have something to look foward too and it helps me not cheat during the week..
    I'm glad you enjoyed it
  • Kelly, the important thing is you are thinking about how you FEEL and how you could have made better choices.

Baby steps! NONE of us got to be overweight with one cinnimon roll, so give yourself a break and think about making a better choice next time.

    Hugs!
  • Next time, buy the frozen ones--then you only have to fix enough for the kiddies to eat and the rest go back to the freezer (then forget about the bag in the freezer!!!) I think they are just as good as the kind you bake (and they are easier--you do them in the microwave). Anyway, don't beat yourself up too much--you ONLY ate one!
  • Eating just one is amazing! I make them for my kids and hubby, usually on Sunday mornings, and I usually have 2, sometimes 3 Don't deprive yourself or you'll binge! I've been off the wagon about halfway for awhile...still have a hold on it with one hand though...lol. I'm not gaining, so I must not be doing TOO bad, but I ain't losing either.

Anyway, have one now and then...you should feel good that you have that sort of self control!

  • If it tasted good and was worth the 3 points, there is no issue. The issue becomes if you allow it to become 2 or to be something you don't count. Make yourself accountable and make sure you really want it. You'll be fine Kelly. That's the beauty of WW - it allows you to have something you really want. Now if you just picked it up and didn't think about it, that's a different issue
  • Kelly, what's wrong with a 3 pt. cinnamon roll? I admire you for keeping it at one roll. You should be proud of yourself for being in control. That's one of the many good things about the WW program, you don't have to feel deprived, just figure your points in and journal.

    Wishing You All The Best,
    Denise
  • I agree... there is nothing wrong with a 3 point treat. Heck I eat a 1-3 point sweet treat every single day! Your eating program is something you will need to live with for the rest of your life. The key is learning to enjoy all types of food in moderation, which anyone of us can do once we have dealt with the emotional side of eating (i.e. binge eating, trigger foods, etc.). Permanent weight loss and healthy living is not black and white, all or nothing, success or failure. It is learning to achieve balance in our eating, activities, and sense of self-worth IMO.
  • Thanks again, everyone!

All of you are right, and helped to get my head back on straight! LOL! I didn't binge, and heaven knows several months ago I could've eaten 4 or more of them. I'm definitely learning, and I do believe that that is one of the main goals of WW....to LEARN. To learn how to deal with everyday life. To learn how to exhibit some sort of self control. To learn how to indulge in small treats rather than going hog wild!

I just needed all that info to be slapped back to the front of my brain! HA!

    Have a good day, ladies!
