Default You Can Do... Pilates

I bought "You Can Do.. Pilates" by Leslie Sanson tonight, it was 7 bucks and worth a try. How effective is Pilates in weightloss?

Thumbs up

Pilates when done porperly, helps you gain lean musle mass and makes you appear longer. It does not give you bulky musle.
It's great stuff, I've done it for years to keep my back from hurting while on my feet working.
Pilates is not a cardio workout but more like dance or yoga with movement.
Enjoy!

I just got done with this DVD. I love it! It involves the stretchy band (if you've done WATP, you'll know what this is) I felt really good afterwards, considering my injured calf

I'm sold....I think I'll give it a try! I've been wanting some type of toning workout, but I don't want "muscles". Know what I mean? Am I correct in thinking that this would be good paired with my walking/elliptical that I do for cardio?

Yes! I think it would. I do cardio also.. this wasn't very intense, it's light exercise. Pilates are supposed to give you long lean muscles. I have a long way to go to see these results!

When doing pilates keep the image in your head:
tall, long and lean
stronge core (middle section)
scoop in the belly
relax your shoulders
if your neck hurts, stop and re group!

I do pilates once a week with a trainer and twice a week with a group, I call that class, ninja pilates.
cardio 2 or three times a week on top of that.
any thing you can do, even walk/jog in place during your favorite tv show!

I have a lot of stress and emotional eating issues I am working on.... instead of eating or drinking a cocktail when I get freaked out I am trying to fold the laundry, walk around the block or work out. ( I can feel my waist line so it must be working!)
