Default Thin for life, week of August 21, 2006

Happy Monday.

I'm looking out of onto the NBC building in Chicago from my bed. I should be up and to the gym, but I'm lazy.

Had a nice weekend in Milwaukee playing drunken midnight croquet and then spent a bit of time yesterday walking around Chicago. I did okay eating wise, I think.

Okay, must hop in shower. I have some nice pics, I'll upload them when I get home and put up a link.

Have a great Monday all!

Well it is Tuesday and I am back to work after one week of vacation.
We went camping up on Lake Erie (Ohio) and had a wonderful week. Not too hot but warm enough to hit the beach. I dont feel so bad wearing a swim suit now.

The kids had a wonderful time, even thought my daughter had to come back home (1 hour away) to have Tennis practice for her High School team.

I didn't do real well eating while we wer camping so I didn't weigh in today. I will try to get back to walking and drinking my water - that is what I didn't do too much of at camp either. I did have a couple smores (delicious) so I think it was worth it!!

I am already on my 2nd glass of water (32 oz cups) and it is about 10am here.

Our network computers are acting up at work now and the internet is the only place I an type or surf without it knocking me off. so I will hang around here for a bit since I did all my "paper" workl yesterday.

I hope everyone had a great week. School starts this week - my dd Senior Year! She had her first Tennis matches this week and my son is playing in the drum line in the High School band (1st time) this Friday - so my week is already full of sports and school doesn't start until Thursday.

Good morning!

Yesterday was absolutely crazy! We had our Fall Orientation and had 21 students who "walked in" and registered...nutso! Anyway, yesterday it felt like I had worked 3 days instead of 1! Along with that, I discovered that my car had been spraypainted overnight Luckily, it's along the top of the trunk and it looks like a dirt mark. Had to call the police department, insurance, etc. My comprehensive insurance will cover it. The vagrants went down the whole block and painted cars, vans, and buildings. They even got our white fence! Grrrr.

Julie Sounds like you had a nice time on the lake. Where were you in Ohio? A lot of people come to Erie to go to the peninsula (I steer clear of it during the summer because of all the tourists) for swimming. DS #1 is starting his final year of college tomorrow and DS #2 begins his sophomore year next Thursday. Time sure flies!

Lala: I love people watching in Chicago--there's lots of places to go walking. I'm heading to Chicago in September but they've moved our meeting to Elgin to coincide with an Oktoberfest. Last year I drank way too much! DH is going with me this time so it should be fun. It's also our anniversary weekend.

The weather here continues to be beautiful--cool nights and warm days. I went out for a walk this morning before work and will be going with my buddy at noon so I've been doing good with getting a little more activity in. Eating has been so-so. I made a recipe from the WW website, Summer Corn Chowder and it was tasty and pretty easy to put together. It only made 4 servings and I was afraid to double it in case I didn't like it. It's a keeper!

Hi to Susan, Pam, Lisa, Austingal, Liz Hope everyone is having a great week!

Melissa - Sorry about you car - that would be terrible. We camped at East Harbor - which is up in Marblehead Ohio. It wasn't crowded - and great weather - what more could I ask for!.
Lala - enjoy Chicago - I have only been there once - I enjoyed the Navy Peir. I am heading to Atlanta in September for a convention so that will be something new for me.
Here in North Central Ohio we have had some great weather - like you in PA - warm days cool nights - great sleeping weather.
I didn't following any good eating habits last night (I had some homemade punpkin ice cream) but after that I only had some carrots for supper. Had to balance out those points from somewhere!!

The weather here continues to be gorgeous! If only it could stay like this longer!! It's 76 degrees, nice breeze and sunny--my idea of a perfect summer day! I went out for a 20-minute morning walk before work and it felt good. I'm getting into the groove of walking in the morning again and it feels good. Tomorrow I'll be at the Wellness Center with my co-worker.

Julie: Some days are hard to follow the good guidelines but that happens. I don't always get in the 8 healthy guidelines but have been trying to do that more.

Lala: How's Ernest doing these days? Our dogs are getting old and I think they're both pretty deaf--they certainly don't respond when we call them or else it's selective hearing like the kids use! They're both 15 years old so they're getting pretty old in dog years.

Classes started today so things should get back to a somewhat normal schedule. It's nice to see the students on campus again.

I went to my meeting at noon and was up .8 but I expected that because it's TOM. Next week should be a better week. I really want to get my weight back down in my comfort zone area. It seems like I'm going to have to fight to get there but I will do it. I'd love to be down 5# by my anniversary (Sept. 15). It's a goal to work towards.

I wonder when Susan gets back from Australia. I hope Lisa is enjoying her vacation.

Hi to Pam, Austingal & Liz!!

Sorry I haven't posted. Things are pretty hectic here.

School started yesterday with all of the drama first grade can bring. My daughter is happy that she got the teacher that she wanted, but sad because none of her kindergarten friends are in her class. By the end of the week she'll have new friends and be just fine.

My dad was rushed to the hosiptal this morning. They think he had a heart attack, but tests are inconclusive. He's scheduled for more invasive tests tomorrow. He's 79 and 5-1/2 years ago he had a quad by-pass. He's very physically fit and healthy for his age. He walks miles every day and stays busy with yardwork, etc. Anyway, I've spent most of my time at the hospital with my mother (she no longer drives). I'll update when I know more.

I'm doing my best to stay on point. I have that nervous "want to eat" energy right now, so it's tough, but I'll be alright.

I hope everyone is having a good week!

Melissa - I wish we could have some of your weather. We've had rain for over two weeks now.

Julie - That ice-cream sounds divine!! Yum! Sometimes we all just need a little yum!

lala - Enjoy Chicago!

Liz: I hope everything works out with your dad. Mine is 78 and has had numerous trips to the hospital with his heart (he's a smoker who just won't quit). It's so scary! I'm sure your daughter will have lots of new friends by the end of the week. Seems like yesterday when I took DS #1 to first grade *sniff* Do the best you can with staying on track--it's hard when you're running!

It's raining here this morning and it's cool--just enough to make it damp inside. I have my a/c on to keep the dampness out of the office and home.

I had kind of a weird night last evening--went home with a headache and was extremely crabby...I think I'm just a little overwhelmed with things. I'm trying to stay focused. I ate because I was agitated and the worst part is that the popcorn didn't even taste good! It didn't satisfy me at all and I still kept munching on it. Grrrr.

Anyway, a new slate, new day and hopefully things will look up. Have a great day everyone!!

Still no word on my Dad. <sigh> This is so frustrating.

I'm trying to remain on-point, but I feel like eating every comfort food known to man. Had pizza last night, but I was good and only went 1 point over my daily 20.

Melissa - I hope you are feeling better today. Hopefully you will be able to de-stress over the weekend.
