Question Regarding WW Online...

  • Last night I went to WW website, and it was a little hard for me to understand. Does anyone do the online version, because that's what I'm thinking of doing? I would like to know more about it and how it works, and have you been successful with it? Also, is it a month to month price, and do you still get the same benefits as going in person? I know I have lots of questions, but thank you in advance for helping me out!
  • just my op, but w ww online you dont get the actual stuff. youd be better off joining in a center for a week just to get what you need.
  • Hi Michelle! I do WW Online. I have been doing this for almost two months now and have lost about 15 pounds. I personally like it but I cannot base it on meetings because I have never been to meetings (nor could I since there are none anywhere near me). I have never had a problem understanding the program or anything and while you don't get the printed material like the previous poster pointed out most of that same information instead is on your computer screen. There also is a Shop where you can buy WW items online. You pay month to month. When I signed up they had a three month special going on and then after that it goes back to month to month kwim?
Lets see..how it works. You log on to the site and there is a Points Tracker and Points Calculator on your tool bar. When you eat something you log it into your points tracker. You schedule when your WI will be and then every week that same day you WI..
What other questions do you have..I'm happy to help because I have been very pleased with WW Online but do believe it takes a bit more self dedication than going to the meetings since you don't have someone to be accountable to.
  • Thank you so much for that information! I joined the WW board because it was free, and I asked this same question politely, and people about bit my head off! They thought I was on there trying to have them give me all of the information to go do it on my own, and I didn't even come across that way at all! I thought, I don't want anything to do with people that are going to be so vicous! WW has it so you can do one free week of the online program, and then either go on and pay, or cancel. So would you suggest the points or core program for me? Right now I've just been counting calories, but that's getting a little tiring. Thanks again for answering my questions, because I really do appreciate it!
  • I have done it on my own, online and meetings. I perfer the meetings. But obviously that's not an option for you. I really didn't care for online, some people do and that is GREAT for them. I feel taht if meetings are an option it's far better and for the money you can get recipes, boards, support ect here for FREE, and elsewhere on the web, plus you can buy inexpensive software to help calculate nutrion for recipes that can be converted to points.

When I was online I didn't see where you could buy printed materials, maybe it's there but I found stuff like cookbooks and such but not points sliders ect. I didn't like not having a calculator in my kitchen or one to take out and about with me. I hated being tied to the computer. I don't like the WW boards, I have had the same experience as you anytime I posted. So I perfer here.

But if online is your only option, I recommend finding or buying (ebay ect) the at home package or at least a slider or caluclator. I find the "Dining Out Companion", and the "Complete Food Guide" really helpful and carry them in my purse.

As far as core vs. points. I perfer points, it just fits my life. I really think you have to give both a try to see what works for you. B/c core foods are packed with healthy stuff, filling and LOW in points I mostly eat those b/c I get more bang for my points buck. If you only ahve the one free week you could try both....meaning eat only form the core list, but kind of track points so you see how that program pans out as well. If you are tired of counting core may be right for you. Best of luck!!!!
  • I just joined WW online a couple weeks ago, and I really like it. I didn't want to go to meetings, so it seemed like a better fit for me. The POINTS tracker online is really easy to use and I like how it keeps track of the whole week. It doesn't come with any of the supplement materials that I hear people get at meetings, but since I have internet access at home and work, it's not an issue for me since I can always look things up. Hope that helps!

I am sorry you felt that way and maybe you didn't think you came off like that but maybe that is the way it perceived. I regularly post over there and when we give out copyrighted information we get banned from posting there.

Just remember if you do start you have to manual cancel otherwise it will automatically change you.

If you are tired of counting calories points counting may be tiring for you too but then again it may just be a change you need. Personally I think there is good and bad to both. FlexPoints people tend to not eat as healthy (and I am not saying everyone) but with Core people tend to not listen to their body for satisification. I try to eat as much from the Core Food list and combine it with the control of portions and points.
