Default Rant about clothing fit

I have found this to be true no matter what weight I am...nothing fits right. If I buy pants large enough for my butt and thighs, they gap at the back of the waist. I just bought a suit that cost $139 (I am a paralegal), and it is so disheartening that it doesn't fit right. I had the same issues when I weighed 180 lbs. as I do now at 143 lbs. The only things that fit right are athletic pants, and that's because they have a drawstring.

I know how disheartening that can be. It's the same with me. You might try taking your clothing to a tailor. I have found that it doesn't cost that much and they can make whatever you have bought fit a lot better. Hope this helps.

Oh boy, can I commisserate! No pants fit me properly! If they fit my butt and thighs, the waist is just huge (and belts look funny). Also, I'm only 5'1" tall, so to get clothes to fit my chubbiness, they are miles too long!

I agree about finding a good tailor, but it's such a shame to have to do it, especially when you spend a small fortune on a suit!

Hang in there!

I know I'm late on this, but I thought I would share anyway. I saw this woman on the Today show (I think it was last week) and she owns some sort of company that is trying to convince clothing manufacturers to change their sizing. She has come up with a sizing system that takes into account your body shape as well as your "size." So, for example, a size 6 would come in 6.1, 6.2, and 6.3 for people with the three different body shapes she designated. I forget the name of the company, but her name was Crickett something-or-other.

My point is, there may be hope in the future so keep your eyes open!

I'm a problem fit no matter what since I have broad shoulders, thin hips and no discernible waistline. The most polite term I've heard for my build is "warrior" but usually it's "boyish" (except for the chest). I can't buy women's clothes to fit right at all so I generally buy men's shirts and pants. Which is a pain in the butt because sometimes I want women clothes but I either have room for another me in the butt and thighs, shirts tend to make me look pregnant or else the inseams are too short. Gee, I didnt' think 5'7" was monstro tall.

I have no idea what women's clothes will fit like when I'm down to my weight goal. I havent' seen it since I was 21 and that was back in the '80s. There were a million different cuts of jeans in the '80s so I managed to find something that flattered-- and I'd remove the shoulder pads out of shirts, jackets and blouses. Now with that '70s remix going on, I don't want to know. I hope it goes away quick. I'm really tired of seeing buttcracks all over the place on those mini-rise hellbottoms! Low rise wasn't so low in the '70s unless you bought a pair of pants from Frederick's of Hollywood

Jaguar, I feel your pain. If the jeans fit my waist, I need a pillow in the butt to fill it out. I find that mens jeans quite often fit me best, although when I'm skinny enough to wear them, Victoria's Secret jeans fit great (and they have longer inseams too). I used to tear out the shoulder pads too
