I think if you retain water, then yes. I am sure there has even been a scientific study of it somewhere.

I just pretend not to notice what the scale says that week. I usually show a big loss the following week.

The average woman gains 4-7 pounds during TOM. And when you do depends on you and your body...

Some the week before, some the week of and some the week after.

This topic is right on time, I was a little frustrated when I gained 2 pounds for this weigh in but figure it was because TOM and because I had started to work out regularly. Now I feel better knowing it is normal for a lot of women to gain a little and I look forward to next weeks weigh in.

Yea!! I'm not alone. I woke up this morning dreading the fact that I weight in today because I'm feeling bloated because of TOM. I was seriously trying to talk myself out of going to my meeting because I didn't want to see the scale go up. It's so nice to know I'm not the only one who gains. I know it's silly but sometimes I get into this mood where I think no one is possibly going through what I'm going through. What an ego trip, I know. It's just nice to be reminded that we all are going through similar things.

Kel-thanks for posting that it depends on your body. I've always felt a little weird that I gain a week or so before I start when most women I know, including my sisters, gain only a day or two before and during.

Wish me luck...I'm going to WI even though I feel like I've gained. Althought to be honest is it weird that after 9 weeks I'm just now feeling the effects of my 17lbs lost? I've seen little things to be sure but yesterday was the first day I almost lost my pants because they were too big. Not that I'm complaining or anything but I was wondering when most of us have felt their first loss so to speak.

Good week to everyone!

I can look at my WW card where they write your weight down and once per month I have a gain. I know that is when aunt flo was visiting. You are NOT alone!

Unhappy Weigh in at that time of month

YES..YES...YES!!!!

I used to go to a gym that you had to weigh so you could put your correct weight into the treadmill computer to determine calories used. I had a 7 pound weight gain in one day and lost it the next. No, it was not due to salt, but simply was on my monthly time.

Default To add a wrinkle

I am perimenopausal, meaning I am in the years just preceding menopause. My hormones are totally screwed up, and I spot at any time throughout the month, plus my periods are extremely heavy and can last for up to two weeks. I have the worst time losing even an ounce...I'm a 20-pointer and can go no lower and still eat healthfully. It's extremely frustrating.

Well I weighed in ... on day 3 of TOM ... and I was up 1.4 ....
I know that some of it has to do with TOM and to be honest some has to simply do with I COULD HAVE DONE BETTER

I totally went off the deep end yesterday and ate like no tomorrow.

But I am NOT gonna let it set me back. I am jumping right back into it today.

And so far so Good.

Yeah this is a timely topic, I had my WI last nite and was up 3.2lbs and exactly 4 weeks ago was the last time I was up, it was only 1.6lbs, but it was day 1 of TOM and when I woke up I felt so bloated and icky I thought the gain was gonna be for more. The bad part about it is that TOM makes me crave stuff I don't need and after fighting temptation and still have a gain makes me want to shake someone.
