Hi there. Yesterday was crazy busy for us, so I have not had time to write until now. We had back to back birthday parties from 11am until 4:30pm then we had to go get small fish tanks that the kids "won" at the carnival birthday party. We were thinking about getting fish, so this was our catalyst. So........here goes

Breakfast
no time. ran out to buy birthday gifts last minute.

Lunch
1/2 of a sandwhich with just meat and lettuce. But the bread was SO YUMMY. Don't have any idea how many points. It was from a deli of some sort. I also had about 1 C mixed fruit and some pretzels. I chose the healthiest of all the food available.

Snack
at the second party, I had two small bags of popcorn.

I am proud that I did not have but two bites of cake. One from my hubby at each party.

Dinner
chicken strip salad with honey mustard from Chick-fil-A. It was yummy and the WW book says 10points for all of it. ??? Not too sure I trust it though. It had sunflower seeds and croutons.

One thin mint girl scout cookie

That was it for Saturday. I feel I have had success. We will see at the ww meeting on Tuesday night.

I have had great success with the gym. I joined with a friend and we go together at 9:30 every day (except our busy weekends). It is the only thing that keeps me going I think. If she were not going to be there, I may not go so much. We also paid for our joint personal training in advance. If we don't show up for that on Mon, Wed, and Fri, then we lose that money. I'm not up for waisitng that much money, so you can bet I am there. We chose the gym based on the child care. It too is free, but is excellent. So, I don't feel bad taking the kids there. They even do fit kids and yoga.

Sounds beautiful where you live. I have never been to Idaho. I was born and raised here in Arizona. I don't have any desire to live anywhere else, as my family is all here. I love the heat. Love the sun. So this is a good place for me. We can drive 2.5 hours north to the snow. We have to drive about 3.75 hours south to the beach in Mexico. We do that about twice a year.

Well, better run for now. Have ANOTHER party to go to this am. We are having some old friends over for dinner too, so I have lots to do. Check in tonight or tomorrow am.

morrigan 03-26-2006 03:26 PM

Good job at the Birthday Party! I have one tonight. My grandma is 72. My great-aunt (her sister) is making dinner like their mom used to. Fried chicken, homemade bread, apple cake. It is going to be wonderful and completely not on program.

I live in Sandpoint for the same reasons you livein AZ. I live on the same property my great-great grandparents farmed on. My neighbors include my grandma, her brother, her sister, 3 of her first cousins and their kids, and my mom's little brother. My parents live in town nearby and I am related to 1/2 the people in the county (at least the 1/2 that didn't move here from CA). I feel extremely spoiled raising children here. I can drop the kids off at mom's, grandma's, aunt's or cousins when I need to run errands, clean house, work out, go out, whatever. My kids have never had a babysitter and my DH and I have had a lot more time to do stuff together than your average M2K. Plus - it is great for the kids to spend so much time with their family.

There are always issues (like my grandpa bit DS after DS bit the dog at 18 months), not enough for injury, but that was how grandpa learned. We have had some very hot debates over what is acceptable with the newest generation and discipline. On the other hand, I survived, went to college, have a great job, etc... so I am thinking it is better for my kids to spend time with my grandparents than worry about the possibility of an occasional spanking or thump on the head. And though I keep at them about what my rules are, I know they don't always get followed when I am not there.

Spent most of the morning at grandma's house - very bad place to diet.

Breakfast: oatmeal with berries (3), toast (3)
Snack: DD's oatmeal with berries (3)
Snack: Spinach with balsamic vinegar (0)
Lunch: Tortilla's (4), beans (2) and cheese (1) with chicken (2)

18 points so far and I still have the birthday party left to go.

I did very well at the birthday party - all things considering...
Like my g-g-grandma's recipe for coleslaw with 2 cups heavy cream
and waldorf salad made with real mayo and whip cream
and chicken breasts stuffed with cheese
and potatoes mashed with cream and butter - gravy on the side
and the one safe looking veggie (asparagus) that got olive oil poured over it just before it made it safely to the table
and the apple cake with frosting made of cream cheese and butter
and homemade rolls

So here is what happened. I filled about 1/2 my plate with asparagus (3), cut a small chunk off one chicken breast to avoid the cheese (3), snagged and sliced a vine ripened tomato out of the fruit bowl and onto my plate, had about 2TBS of potatoes (1), ate 1/2 of DS's roll (1), ate crackers before hand (2). No cake, no gravy, no wine, and I refused the stacks of leftovers that everyone else took home.

28 points for the day

This put me at 206 points for the week and 3 points over my Extra Points.
I am a bit discouraged because I sneeked a peek at my scale this morning and it looks like I am going to have a gain at weigh in today. So far on WW, these are my points per week and my weight loss per week.
189 -6
202 -1.4
230 -0.8 right before tom
224 -3.2 tom
233 -1.2
204 -2.2
246 0.2 right before tom
230 -4.8 tom
216 -1.8
206 Today???

buffalosister1 03-27-2006 10:34 AM

Don't be discouraged. I gained the past two weeks and go for my weigh in tomorrow night. I am quite confident that I will have a loss this week. Next two days may be hard. I can't go to the gym today due to my daughter having a fever. Who knows what is going to happen tomorrow. It is a bit dangerous for me to be home ALL day. I have nobody to run to school, preschool, or the gym. Lots of time to obsess about food. Anyway, if you do show a gain you will adjust for next week and don't worry. Here is how my day ended up.

breakfast
oatmeal 3

lunch
2 slices cheese pizza 6
1 piece of cake ???

Dinner
shredded beef 5? (should have weighed it)
2 wheat tortillas 1
lettuce and salsa
spanish rice 7
some chips lots ?????

oreo pie (ww recipe) 3

Not a good day, but not the worst I have ever had. Scale this morning said 190. That should be down. I had been weighing 193 first think in the am.
We will see what happens at the "real" scale.

Going to try to do real good at home today. Eventhough that left over oreo pie is calling my name. I am going to make a double batch of the zero point veggie soup. I enjoy that and feel I should keep some around.

Will check in later. Have a good day.!

morrigan 03-27-2006 03:53 PM

I have lost 23 lbs!
Down 1.8 this week!

morrigan 03-27-2006 04:02 PM

I had to type in something really big and exciting because other than all the people that know I am dieting, no one has said a word about me losing weight. I am a high school teacher. You would think that among 100 students with not a fully developed connection between brain and mouth and our factuly - someone would have noticed. Ahhh... I guess another month and it will start to show.

Part of the problem is that I have gained 20 lbs in the last year, so I don't look much different than I did last year at the same time.

Today: Coffee with creamer (1), Salad with chicken (4), Apple (1), Apple (1), 2 points bar (2)

Dinner: Salad with Taco stuff on top (9), refried beans and cottage cheese (4)

buffalosister1 03-27-2006 04:12 PM

Oh my gosh!!!! Congratulations. I hope I have similar good news for you tomorrow. You know, I don't think people noticed my weight loss until I bought my first round of new clothes. Sometimes when my clothes are getting loose and I don't "retire" them, I look frumpy. Just as you said, give it another month. I am so excited for you. I am headed to Vegas next week, and wanted to be down 20 for the trip, but I am only down 13 (after two weeks of gain). I will be close though.

today so far.......

breakfast
my usual oatmeal 3pts

lunch
cheese sandwhich 3pts
salad 1pt for dressing
some chips here and there :( :( 2 pts??
oreo pie 3pts

morrigan 03-28-2006 05:26 PM

Today: Hope to go to the gym when the kids wake up from their nap. Should have gone skiing, but I went to my cousins to get the kids together with little ones their age. We have 6 kids from 9mo-3.5yrs, they were all very cute. We got some great group photos.

Breakfast: oatmeal with berries (3), latte (2), creamer (1)
Lunch: Taco (5)
Snack: tuna, mayo, and crackers (4), apple (1)

16 points so far @2:30 pm

Snack: edamame (2), apple (1)

19 points - which leaves me 5 points for dinner

wine(3), chicken (5), salad dressing (2), cheese (2)

31 points for the day,

buffalosister1 03-28-2006 05:59 PM

I finished off my day yesterday just horrible. I ate a ton of regular tortilla chips and a total of four servings of the low fat oreo pie. That pie alone is 12 points for the day. So, ate my 0 point soup for lunch. Have no idea what my total points for the day ended up at. I should be ok considering flex points for the week. My only concern is that when I got on the scale first thing today, it was up three pounds from yesterday morning. Is it possible to gain three pounds in one day??? TOM is not until late next week. Anyway, I learned that if I make any dessert (low fat or not) I will toss left overs after company leaves. This, along with any opened bags of chips.

Today..........much better

Breakfast
oatmeal (I see a trend here for us) 3 pts

Gym
30 min eliptical
15 min stairmaster
total calories burned according to machines was 465.

Lunch
0 point soup
Jack in The Box taco 3pts

Snack
string cheese(lf) 1pt
1 small tootsie roll 1pt????

That is it so far. I weigh in tonight at 5:30. That is why I am trying so hard to recover from yesterday. I will give you results tonight or tomorrow.

I hope you don't teach English. I have very bad grammar, and no spell check on here. It says I have to download something, and I don't download anything. I am worried I will goof up our computer. :)

Must run. I am a girl scout leader, and have a meeting to prepare for.

morrigan 03-28-2006 06:46 PM

Nope - Math

"One Day At A Time - No Guilt - Move One" I love that quote.

I am sure that my run-on sentences as well as my overuse of ( ) and the ~ symbol would drive any English teacher insane. I try to stop myself ~ but I write like I talk, and frankly, living in North Idaho for the last 10 years and working exclusivly with teenagers and skiers has put a damper on both my grammer and vocabulary.

morrigan 03-28-2006 10:07 PM

And then I got to thinking... I feel stressed out by having a 30 point day (like I went way over in points), and then I did the math. If you figure a point is roughly 50 calories, then a 24 point day is 1200 calories and a 30 point day is 1500 calories (plus 200 or so if you eat a lot of free veggies). So if I have a 30 point day once in awhile, that is still far less calories than I ate pre-weight watchers, so I shouldn't be worrying about it. I should just cross off my extra points for the week and move forward to the next day.

bty

Check out this thread "What works for You?" on the support page. It is wonderful and has a lot of good things to think about.

buffalosister1 03-28-2006 11:30 PM

Yippee! Back from a busy night of WW, dinner, craft shopping (girl scouts), and pet store shopping. So, I lost 1.8. I am very happy with that. Although, I have still not lost the amount I gained over the last two weeks. :( But I LOVE your last post. I was watching some national morning show yesterday, and they had a gal on there promoting some weight loss program with "real food." She said you should be eating 1500 calories a day. So you are absolutely right. I shal feel the same. As long as we keep on a goin, it will all work out. That being said, I was very shy on points today. For dinner I had three smallish slices of veggie pizza from Red Brick Pizza. No way to count points. Not on dwlz or anything. So, this is not too bad. I would say 12 points at the most. It did not have much cheese, and was thin crust.

BUT...........then I had a small size cheesecake flavored gilato. OH MY GOSH!!! It was too good. I even got a waffle cone. :o The only thing making me feel sort of ok was whet a skinny (very skinny) girl ordered the same thing after me.

Tomorrow right back on track. Will post again. Thanks for the link to the other thread. Have not had time but will check it out.

morrigan 03-29-2006 10:48 AM

Woo-hoo! I rode my bike to school today. There was a 25 mph headwind and it took me 15 minutes longer than usual. I love riding my bike. I feel so much better when I get here.

Plus, I almost backed out because the weather looked sketchy, but then I hopped on anyway. I didn't work out M or T, so I hope this makes up for it. Tomorrow I have to ski because I have to drive up to the ski area to get my gear since we are going to a different mountain this weekend.

I didn't pack lunch today, so I am going to have to buy in the school cafeteria. The place where most students buy fries. And where the free lunch kids who are not allowed "just fries" take the fries and then throw away the rest of their meal. I really wish our school would sell healthier food, but as long as they make french fries, the kids don't eat anything else.

I think this weekend is going to be tough. I am going on a road trip with my parents and kids. We are driving 3 hours to a birthday party, staying for 2 and then driving several more hours (4 or 5) to the top of a pass, at which point we will have to get out of the car and hike in the dark (up hill - and through snow, although not very far) with a 1.5 year old and 3.5 year old to our old ski cabin. Then it is going to be a full weekend of food at the cabin. I think I am going to buy a big thing of spring mix lettuce and salad stuff to take with us. We don't have a lot of room to pack stuff with all of our ski gear, sleeping bags, and 5 people in the car. I am really excited about it. I have never brought my kids there even though I spent almost every weekend there in high school and college.

Breakfast: oatmeal and berries (3), milk (2)
Lunch: Salad (0), dressing (2), chicken (2), oranges (1), crunchies (1), almonds (1)
Dinner (10) chicken ,salad, wine
Snack (1)
Snack (1)

24 points today

buffalosister1 03-29-2006 03:12 PM

Oh the high school french fries. I too was one of those kids. We actually had a food line called the "snack line." You could only get serious junk food. The other line had hot lunches that were so bad. I think only the free lunch kids "bought" those.

I wend to the gym this morning for my personal trainer. we did tons of step us, squats, lunges, and push ups. I worked up quite a good sweat. I also did 25 minutes on the treadmill at 3.5.

So far today here is what I have had.......

Oatmeal 3

WW Smart One 6
some RF Pringles 1.5
pudding 1

I am making a dish out of the new stir it up cookbook from WW.
It was 6pts for 1Cup. I will eat 1.5cups with a salad.

That should make it 10 and out of my 24 points, I will then have 2.5 for dessert or snack this afternoon.

Have a great day.

morrigan 03-29-2006 06:17 PM

That is the deal exactly. Everyone knows who the "free" lunch kids are because they are the only ones who have to get the tray lunch. So they put fries on their tray, then as soon as they go through the line ditch the tray so they won't stand out.

buffalosister1 03-29-2006 10:00 PM

So, to finish my day here is what I had......

One bad hair cut

and.........

1C of the dinner 6
salad w/dressing 1
baked tortilla chips 2
ice cream (fudgescicle) 1

That is 21 points (I think).

Hopefully my hair will recover when I style it tomorrow. At least my points and gym time were great today!!

Will check in tomorrow.

morrigan 03-30-2006 09:14 AM

Breakfast: Oatmeal with berries (3) and latte (2)

I won't be able to access a computer for most of the weekend. Wish me luck.

buffalosister1 04-03-2006 11:27 AM

Good morning! I hope you had a nice weekdend and a safe one. Mine was very busy again. Had family here from out of town. Diet was not so good. I did not track. Partly because I knew you would not be on all weekend. Today so far......

breakfast
oatmeal 3

Chrissy1175 04-03-2006 02:46 PM

Hope you don't mind if I post here today...I'm having a bad day and I thought it might help if I fussed up to it. :( My day started out well. I had my 16oz of water right after waking up - 0pt. I had 2 slices of 1pt toast with 1 pt spread on them for breakfast - 3 pts. Another 16 oz of water with my toast - 0pt. At work I had just started another 16 oz of water when I decided I was a bit tired and needed a pick-me-up. So I got a bottle of Dt. Coke and drank half of it. I usually wait until I've had at least 4 16 oz glasses of water before I allow myself to have a dt coke but I was ok with it because i was falling asleep at work and I had had almost 3 16 oz glasses of water before I drank it. So let's see about 10 oz of dt coke - 0 pts. Then I drank the rest of my 3rd 16 oz glass of water before lunch. Lunch is were I messed up. :( I'm not sure why but I was craving Diary Queen. I know it's bad but I still went anyway. It might not have been so bad if I'd have had the salad with chicken. But no I had to have the chicken strips with fries and gravy and toast. It was 21 pts. :( And the good thing is I couldn't eat it all so it was really only like 18 or 19 pts. But I'll count it as 21 just to be sure. The bad thing is that because I haven't eaten greasy food like that in a while my tummy is not used to it anymore....it's not happy now. :( It's my own fault I know. That's why I felt I needed to fuss up to someone. Of course now I've had 24 pts for the day...which is what I'm supposed to have all day...and it's only just after lunch...i've still got dinner and an after school snack (I have class until 10pm so I like to eat after work and before class then a little something after I get home). Ok...let's see....I think I'll have the 0-pt soup and 0pt veggies for dinner tonight....and probably for an after school snack as well...I've got a few activies pts I can use if I want FF dressing with my veggies. I'm on track to have all my water plus some drank for the day.

Ok...I think I've just worked it all out. Thanks for listening. Sometimes I need to fuss up in order to start again. Have a good day.

buffalosister1 04-03-2006 05:09 PM

Hi Chrissy. Please, post here often. Has been just two of us on this thread for some time now. It has helped me. The Dairy Queen is behind you now. NO WORRIES!! You may not be successful at this if you did not satisfy some of the cravings. That is how I "stay on program." If I want to have a small something sinful now and again, I do. Just remember that the entire day is not blown just because of lunch. Your soup plan sounds great. I love that soup. My mom (also on program) is not a fan. It has saved me. Had it two days in a row before weigh in one week. Worked out great.

Lunch
2 tostada shells
1/2 C Vegetarian refried beans
lettuce
salsa
all to make two tostadas 4pts

I will do this more often as it was very satisfying.

snack
sugar free puding 1pt
oreo crisps 2pts

10 so far today, 14 left for dinner. :)

Chrissy1175 04-04-2006 10:08 AM

Good Morning, Ladies! Today is starting out very nicely. I actually woke up on time today so I didn't feel rushed all morning...which means I actually feel like I ate breakfast when I ate instead of wolfing it down in the car. :D Here's what I've had so far:

12 oz water (0pt)
2 slices of whole wheat bread, toasted (2pts)
1 tbsp Smart Balance spread (1pt)
10 oz dt coke (0pt)
16 oz water (0pt)

For lunch I'm planning on:
WW Smart Ones Ravoli (5pts)
WW yogurt (1pt)
banana (2pt)
pear (2pt)

Still not sure what I'm having for dinner but I have 14 pts for dinner and a snack. Any ideas? I know I'll have at least broccoli (0pt) and probably potatoes with olive oil and cajin seasonings (4pts). That gives me 4 of my 5 friuts and veggies and my 2 oils. Now I only need 1 more veggie and another protien. OH and one more milk. Huh...maybe I'll have another yogurt (1pt). Ok...that leaves 9 pts for my protien, 1 more veggie and a snack later. Well, I'll think about that and decide later. At least now I now where I stand. :)

This is nice. I like to be able to talk out what I'm having with ya'll. No wonder you've been doing it. Hope you're having a good day too.

Noble1 04-04-2006 10:50 AM

One Pound a week

I would like to lose one pound a week until I get back to goal. I am a lifetime member but finding it hard to get back on the program.

morrigan 04-04-2006 11:40 AM

I had a very nice, but a very not on program weekend. I went on a road trip with my parents and kids. Although I am sure a ate less than I would have pre-WW, I tried doing rough estimates of points and it came out 35,35,40,40 for the 4 days. Yesterday would have been OK, but we went out for dinner after I weighed in at WW (up .4), and I really blew it.

I didn't mind the weekend so much, but it really irritates me that I ate 40 points on a Monday. I really want to get out of the 190's and gaining isn't helping me toward that goal.

I have the rest of the week off (Spring Break). I hope to get some more exercise in than usual. This weekend we are renting a condo up at the ski area. If I just eat and don't drink, I should be able to stay OP.

Welcome Christy and Joybell. It would be great to have a few more souls around.

morrigan 04-04-2006 11:54 AM

Tuesday 4/4

Oatmeal with Berries (3), Toast (4)
Soup (6)
Crackers (4)
sunflower seeds (3)
Crackers (4)
Pancakes (3)
bites (2)

buffalosister1 04-04-2006 03:10 PM

He ladies. So far so good, and I did not even plan it that way. A dear friend had her baby today, so I ended up with one extra kid this morning. Her older son and mine attend preschool together. So, I missed breakfast. On the way to the hospital to see her I hit McD's. I got an egg mcmuffin thinking I was committing WW sui. Not the case. Came home and low and behold.........only 6 points. Now this is high in light of my usual 3pt oatmeal, but not as bad as I thought. I will have a smart one for lunch 5pts and be in good shape for dinner after weigh in.

Welcome Joybell and glad you're back in town Morrigan. I missed writing to ya! It is amazing what this trhead has done for me. I did not do so well knowing I wasn't tracking while you were gone.

I'll check in after weigh in.

morrigan 04-04-2006 07:52 PM

I have been eating nearly 0 points soup all day. Zero point soup with beans in it makes for about 1/2 point per serving.

On our trip this weekend my mom started reading her book out loud to us. The author was really funny, that is, until it turned into a book about child abuse, which just isn't my idea of fun reading. She has a phd from harvard, great timing, great vocab, but I don't like being depressed. It reminded me of when I rented "Life is Beautiful". The previews were filled with kids running down country lanes, bicycling, and romance. I rented the movie, which started off the same way, then BOOM.. Holocost. I spent the rest of the evening crying. It was a great movie, but not my idea of a fun popcorn evening. This book was the same way.

The author was on a spiritual quest and had been trying to reach God through prayer, meditation, fasting... When my mom was reading about the fasting part, I was thinking that the ability to fast would make it a lot easier to diet. I could have a 40 point day, fast for 1 day and end up with an average of 20 points. Sounds easy. A few chapters later she reveiled herself as a severe anorexic... and I realized... there is no easy road.

So the 40 point day goes behind me as do easy fixes.

buffalosister1 04-04-2006 08:08 PM

Thank you so much for sharing that. Are you sure you just teach math??? I go on my girls' trip on Thursday. Tomorrow will be my last post until Monday. I will try to do ok, but plan on having a good time and not depriving myself of everything good. I plan on at least one serving of my favorite 24 point icecream at Cold Stone. Will chat tomorrow. Have a good night everyone.

Wednesday 4/5

Did you know that at 01:02:03 am this morning the date was 05/06?

Breakfast: pbj (4), milk (1)
Snack: Cliff Bar (4)
Lunch: Soup (0), crackers (2), anna's pbj (5)

So far today 16

I may as well not be dieting for how the rest of the day went. I think I really need to get back to journaling with a pencil and paper as well as here. If I wait until evening to reconstruct how much I ate, I do not do nearly as well as seeing the points physically add up as I go.

After soup... coffee (2), nap with DS (that was nice), nibbled before dinner when I fed DD a snack... most of her boca burger (3), some of her cheese (1), all of her bread (2), then I fixed dinner which I am proud to say, I ate no pasta. Salad (0), pesto (3), chicken (4), mozzerella (3). Then before bedtime snack for the kids and I ate their toast (3).

37 points for the day.

If I had skipped eating off the kids plate I would have had had 19 fewer points today for a total of 18.

One of the biggest reasons I have been doing well on WW was my resolution to not eat random things (like mozzerella, peanut butter and jelly sandwhiches, homemade bread, cereal, etc, etc, etc...) off my childrens plate. I know for a fact that doing that is what had led me to gain 20 lbs between April 05 and January 06.

I am RE-RESOLVING here. NO KID FOOD!

4/6 -

So far today ok day....not the best but within my points for breakfast...

12 oz of water (when i woke up) - 0pt

I had 3 cups of butter lover's popcorn = 3pts.
16 oz of water - 0pts.

Not sure about lunch and dinner yet. :)

I know the butter lover's popcorn isn't the best thing to have for breakfast but sometimes I crave it and since I can control how much of it I eat it sometimes instead of the 94% FF kind. The reason I had it today instead of breakfast is that I walked off and left my breakfast at home. When I got to work it was the best of the worst in the vending machine. It was either butter lover's popcorn which I can control portions, or the mini-donuts (which I have no will power to stop eating until they're gone). I'll make up for it with lunch and dinner. I'm thinking Subway for lunch (only 7 or 8 pts) and then still not sure about dinner. Any ideas?

Hope everyone's having a good day!!

I love the bags of organic, pre packaged, spring mix lettuce (it has lots of other greens in it too). I put whatever I cook for dinner over a bed of greens as apposed to over rice or pasta like I used to.

I got up - and instead of making breakfast I ate the crusts of the kid's toast. I need to repeat the phrase, "I am not a garbage can" a few times.

Breakfast: Toast Crust (really good homemade bread) (2), creamer (2)

I am going to have 20 points for the next 4 days to try and get myself back in line.

Lunch: 3 oz chicken (3) with pesto (3)
Snack: Strawberries (1)

11 points so far today

You ladies are so good at putting your meals together! I'm having such a hard time trying to find things to fit within my points and still manage to get all of my milks, fruit&veg, and oil points in without going over. I've been doing it, but not totally enjoying my food, ya know?

Here is a typical day for me:

Breakfast -
2 salmon oil tablets (2pts) got my oils in!
12 oz 2% milk latte - 4pts
Banana - 2pts

Lunch -
Veggie soup - 0pts
1 piece wholw wheat bread - 2pts
1 oz lean lunchmeat - 1

Snack - 1/2 WW carrot cake - 1.5pts

Dinner-
Chicken breast and vegetables - 5pts
Salad - 0
Salad dressing - 1.5

Snack -
Berries - 1.5pts
1/2 cup yogurt - 1

21.5 points! I'm allowed 22

Any better ideas would be helpful!

I have actually thrown in the towel at trying to get everything in every day.

Say, for instance, you have your 2 milks (4) and your 2 oils (2). If you are on 20 points, that leaves you only 14 for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I think it is much easier to fit everything in when your point range is say 26 or 30. I usually get my milks in (12 oz latte), but I eat pretty healthy, so I don't worry about all the others on a daily basis. If you are choosing your foods from the core list of whole grains, lean meats, veggies, etc.., you should do fine. I do think that because WW is a low calorie diet it is important to take a multivitamin daily. I say this as I realize I haven't taken one in 2 or 3 weeks.

I try to fit my oils in with something yummy like
... a spoonful of peanut butter
... sesame oil drizzled over snow peas
... pesto sauce over grilled chicken
... prawns sauteed in garlic chili oil
at least that way you are getting in some taste for the points.

Change your latte to a 12 oz double with nonfat milk and no flavor and you are down to a 2 point latte. Use cinammon sprinkles, orange sprinkles, or sugar substitute if you have to doctor it up.

And yes, it doens't taste quite as good as my old mocha frappachino with 600+ calories, but I have gotten used to my double-tall nonfat, just like my diet coke instead of rum and coke, my skim milk instead of whole milk, my sugar free cocoa instead of the real stuff with whip cream and marshmallows, and even my owfat vanilla yogurt in a blender with blueberries instead of Hagan-Daas.

snowgal 04-06-2006 02:19 PM

That's a good idea about skim milk for the latte. Thanks!!!

I used to have mocha's and dropped to latte's when I started WW. We make them at home and I usually have 2% milk around the house for my little girl and husband. I would definitely be willing to go down to 1% or skim milk. Whenever I order a latte at a coffee shop, I always ask for a "skinny" one.

Those 2 points will really help!! It would be nice to be able to have more dinner choices and 2 extra points would help with that.

I'm only 5'1" tall, so every ounce of fat shows and I really need to get my weight down to a more healthy place.

Thanks!

Snowgal...another thing you might try is to find a 1pt bread. I found a whole wheat bread that's only 1 pt per slice. It's Mrs. Barid's, a bread that's made here in Texas so I doubt you'll find the exact one but I think Sara Lee makes one too. I just took my slider to the store with me and went from there. I know it's only 1 pt but 1 pt helps when you're down to only 20 or 22. I just went down to 24 pts and I'm finding it hard sometiems too. :)

I also try to plan my day to include all the things we're supposed to but like morrigan I don't stress about it. I try to get all my veggies, usually using a oil to either cook in or top a veggie. For my milk I usually eat yogurt. There are some 1pt yogurts out there, mostly WW I think but I wanna say at least one other one as well. I'll look when I get home and see if I can find it.

The only thing I make sure I do everyday is drink water. LOTS and LOTS of water. I drink between 100 and 120 oz a day. I start from the moment i get up (I keep a glass by the bed) and drink all day until I get into bed. And that doesn't include and thing else I might have to drink. I might have a glass of tea or a coke or something but then I drink a same size glass of water right after. I know it seems like a lot and depending on your activity level you probably shouldn't have to drink as much as I do. My Doc says I'm still dehydrated so i've gotta drink a lot. :)

That's my 2cents worth. Hope it helps.

morrigan 04-06-2006 06:36 PM

OK - this has been really bugging me.

Has anyone else noticed that on some of the WW products (like the yogurt), when you take your little slider to it or if you use the formula that it is more points than they say? The Yogurt comes out 2 on a slider and some of the desserts come out more also. I think they are cheating to get better sales. I mean who would buy 2 point yoplait if the same amount of calories in a WW box says 1 pt?

Chrissy1175 04-06-2006 07:00 PM

ok...now i'm kinda worried. I use a lot of WW foods. I have never noticed that the points were different. :( I guess I shouldn't take everything on blind faith like that. I think I'll look at the stuff I have and use my slider to figure the points from now on. Thanks for the info morrigan.
