Being that you are in Washington, DC the free registration would probably apply. In my rural area it does not as we are part of a smaller WW franchise. We don't get any of teh great deals.
For us the registration fee is $35 (which includes the cost of the meeting) and meetings are $12 a week, or you can buy what they call super savers in blocks of 6 or 11 weeks. You save only a couple dollars over paying weekly. I bought the semi annual membership which cost $249 up for January-June front but works out to be just over $9 a meeting. I don't think these are available anymore but may be something to consider when they renew.
Also, if you miss a meeting you still have to pay for it. In our area if you miss 1 meeting it's cheaper to pay a total of $24 ($12 for the missed and $12 for the current meetings) at your next meeting, but if you miss 2 meetings in a row it's less expensive to pay the registration fee.
I didn't like WW online, it was ok but not great in my book, I enjoy the meetings and the support so for me it is well worth the money.
