Please, I truly need your help!!!!!!!

  • Hello to all of you. I am sooooooo discouraged and thought I would come here to get some inspiration. I am not one to be down, but lately (last 2 weeks) I have been the prize guest at my own pity party.I hate how I look, I hate how my clothes feel and most of all I have gained back 9 lbs of the 27 I lost over the last several months. I don't know where to turn but have to do something.......I still have 60 lbs to lose and have to get back on track. How do you get over this feeling????I have a super supportive husband and family but they don't seem to understand how important this is to me. I have friends that are all small and keep telling me "what is taking you so long". I don't know if I am just so stressed about worrying about getting this weight off that I get nuts thinking about it or what. Any suggestions would surely help. Thanks for letting me vent.....Patti
  • It is okay!
    Patti-
The party is over. Kick out the guest of honor. Beating yourself up is not going to help.

First off you are still down 18lbs. That is something to be proud of. You know what got you there. Remember feeling the awesome feeling of losing the weight. Well sit down with paper and pen and write all the great things that have changed since you lost the weight you did.

If you have your 10% keychain. Get it and look at it, hold it, carry it around. It really makes me remember all the things I am working for.

I have lost a little over 27 an still have 65 to go. I will get there and I am not going back the other way.

Good Luck and keep me posted.

  • Ditto!
    I liked Pryia's reply!
She's right. You have to look at how far you've come, EVEN WITH YOUR GAIN. Aren't you glad you don't have to RE-lose that WHOLE 27 # all over again? I felt the same way this spring when I was off program for a long time after a 30# loss. I gained back 15 of it. OUCH!

I had the "click" this spring and am now 46# lighter from when I started (from my first start weight)....and I'm surprisingly (for me) still motivated to keep going! I know the ol' "been there, done that" message I'm sending may not motivate you, but I wanted you to know that you're not alone in the way you're feeling.

Don't give those "what's taking so long?" comments another thought! Your new body is still a "work in progress" and with your family (and your online buddies here), you can get the support you need!!
    YOU
    CAN DO THIS!!

  • Feedback or Failure?
    Dear Windwood:

We all been in your shoes. Do you currently attend meetings? This past week, the topic was how "Failure" is really feedback, and when you have those small upsets, what you can do to get it back.

    1. Write down exactly what happened so that you have a clear view of the whole situation.
    2. How did these events lead me to go off course?
    3. What can I learn that will prevent this from happening again?
    4. What can I learn right now to get back in control?

Also, IGNORE your friends right now. They are helping to sabotage you because with each negative thing you hear from them, it slowly etches away at your fragile self esteem. YOU WILL DO THIS. You have lost 27 pounds (forget that you gained it back -- we don't make people return their stars, bookmarks, or other weightloss awards when they regain weight...) So get back on track and stay the course... You deserve to and you WILL do!
  • Thanks guys.......I really needed your help and you came through. I just had to vent and get on with my life. I made out my menu for the next 3 days, blew the dust off my journal and away we go.I can't tell you how many times I have come to this site and always feel better after doing so. Thanks again. My DH is such a sweetheart and told me when I weigh in at meetings we will have a kitty and every 1/4 lb loss will be a dollar in the kity and If I gain,a dollor will come out for every 1/4 lb that I gain. SOOOOOOO I think this is something that will boost me along. I want a new china hutch at the antique store and this is maybe a kick to get me going plus all of you out there. My Grandmother used to say"FRIENDS ARE FLOWERS IN THE FIELD OF LIFE".Thanks again....
  • I understand how you are feeling Windwood, even though we are at different points in our weightloss.
I've found that reading health and fitness type propaganda is motivationg for me...it gets me focused on those ares in my life, and gives me some ideas for when I get bored (which happens quite often).
Maybe go shopping? Find a cool new healthy food that is low in points, or some ethnic food that you've always wanted to try but were scared to, or didn't know existed. Maybe find a new sports bra, or sneakers? A new video or something like that. Maybe look at some cookbooks that are different from your normal cooking style? I lose motivation when I get bored with what I'm doing, and these things have helped me in the past.
Can you find a picture of your china hutch that you want? Put that next to the money jar, so you can see one of your goals in picture form.

    Take care!

  • Hey there Windwood -

Everyone above is giving you great advice. I love my friends but there are certain people I just don't "tell" my progress and stumbles to. Only those who know how tough it is and can be supportive.

And remember you are addressing the challenge now and that takes courage. I recently (over an 8 month period) gained back 14 of the 30 lbs I lost. It took me six months to get upset enough to do something and then another 2 months to get serious. But I'm finally staying on program and losing (6lbs so far over the past 5 weeks.) What's helping?

You got it.... tracking both in the 12 week journal and online both daily foods and points and weekly checkin. (see Lifetime / Maintainence - Daily and Weekly journal Threads.

Hang in there you will get there. - Patch -
  • Dairy question...
    Hi,
Hoping you guys can help me with this. When you're looking at a food label what percentage of calcium does it have to contain for it to be able to count as a dairy serving? Is it 20% or 25%?
For example I think a serving of my sorrento reduced fat shredded cheddar is 20%, and I was curious about whether or not this can count as one of my dairy servings. Thanks!
