Default Thin4Life - Week of Jan. 31/06

Good morning! Another Spring-like day here in PA. It's kind of strange for the end of January to have temps in the high 40's, low 50's. I was able to open my windows over the weekend and air out the house. It's sunny today and I'm hoping it stays that way so I can go out for a walk at noon.

The weekend was pretty quiet--Saturday I met a friend and we went for a nice 3-mile walk--it felt good. Saturday TOM arrived (over a week early) and I was not happy. I'm calling the doctor this morning. Sunday DH and I went to the "Souper Bowl" and had some fantastic soups--apricot & lentil, a tomato with vermicelli from a Middle Eastern (I want this recipe!), a chicken soup with lime and some nice spices from a Latino restaurant...those are only a few. It's a great way to try different things.

I've decided I need to get a better filing system for at home--I put some papers away for DS #2 and can't put my hands on them! Anyway, my goal is to organize my paperwork.

So how was everyone's weekend?

Hi to Lala, Velveteen, Pam, Susan, Austingal, Lisa!

Not a very eventful weekend. I worked at the church rummage sale on Saturday--they raised about $7,000 which was great! I had a rehearsal on Sunday for an oratorio that I'm singing in. Some of the music is pretty challenging.

Food-wise, I was doing pretty well till I dropped over a friend's house to drop off something I borrowed and she put out Fritos (red-light food). I ate so many it was ridiculous. I'm afraid to get on the scale.

Melissa, sorry about the TOM. I looked up Provera on the Internet and one of the side effects is weight gain! The Souper Bowl sounds like fun--apricot and lentil would be a great taste combination. Yep, organizing those papers is a job at first, but once you have a system, it's a snap.

Hi, lala, Susan, Pam, Austingal and Velveteen

Where did the month go?

In Atlanta for a few days, what a well, not very intersesting place. I'm sure there has to be something better than my hotel suite. I've been working non stop since I got here.

My meeting is tomorrow and I have to finish my talk. Yikes.

Melissa - that is wierd about your TOM. I don't know what the drug is but the med I'm on has it as side and I'm fighting it.

THe soups do sound yummy.

Lisa - way to go on the rummage sale! Fritos are also a red light food for me,l all chips are.

As for organization. Don't ask, I know where a few things are right now, but I'll wait until they are done with my floors. They stained everything they did and its light, but lovely. I am calling them this am to make sure they put the finish on this week so that I can move furniture this Superbowl Sunday. The game means nothing to me. I am reviled by most Seattlites.

Hi everyone!

Hi ladies,

Where did the month go indeed! I don't recall a January ever going by so quickly. The temps today are again in the mid 40's...it reached 50 on Saturday...and we have a chance of snow coming in tonight. Just a really crazy weather pattern this winter.
The weekend was very nice, I really enjoy the 3 day ones! Went to the casino on Friday, did a little gambling and a lot of eating. Tried to make good food choices but it was difficult. Neither Dh or I were very lucky and we both ended up losing $$.
On Saturday the weather was so lovely we decided to cook some steaks on the grill...don't think I've ever done that in January.
On Sunday I did a little cleaning and began organizing our tax stuff. All in all a pretty nice weekend.

Melissa I opened up some windows too on Saturday, it was nice to get some fresh air in the house. Your souper bowl sounded like a lot of fun...some really interesting soups. Hope the doctor can help with the TOM issues. I just hate it when it shows up unexpectedly like that.

Lisa have you ever tried the BBQ flavored Fritos?? Definately a red light food for me.

Lala I'm not too excited about the Super Bowl this year either. But I am looking forward to seeing the Rolling Stones during the half time show.

Well ladies back to the mountain of work sitting on my desk. Hope you all have a nice Monday. TTYL.

lala, glad the floor work is moving along. Sorry you have to work so much in Atlanta. Actually, Atlanta has some nice parts to it, especially the Buckhead area. Their Botanical Gardens are interesting, too.

Pam, sorry you lost $, but that happens. I have tried the BBQ Fritos and I don't like them at all, so no problem there. I sort of wish my friend had put those out because I wouldn't have eaten any of them.

I am so looking forward to the Super Bowl. I'm a huge football fan and I'll be rooting for Pittsburgh (being from northeastern Ohio originally).

Lisa: The boys were munching on Doritos on Saturday and I had more than my share--like you, those salty, crunchy snacks are red light foods for me. I'm happy to report they are no longer in the house!

Lala: I don't think I'll be continuing the provera since it's not helping. How are the floors looking? I bet you can't wait to get everything back in order!

Pam: We've only had 9" of snow for the month of January which is really low for us--I'm not complaining though! Sounds like you had a nice & productive weekend. We use our grill year round--DH and I sometimes grill when the snow is flying

The Super Bowl is bringing a lot of hype up here since we're only 2 hours away from Pittsburgh--the bars/restaurants are already busy with orders for Sunday! We'll watch it. I've got a busy weekend ahead of me--every year I run the kitchen for a drum & bugle corps raffle and that's this Saturday so I'll be there from 1 p.m. until about 10 p.m. I did get in touch with the doctor's office and the nurse practitioner that I see called me back and said she's done all she can so I need to get in to see the doctor--I was lucky enough to get an appointment for this Friday morning. We'll see how that goes.

Nothing major going on--working on letters to students, orientation stuff, and the usual things that bore me to tears! Have a good day!

Hi everyone,

Sitting in the Admiral's Club in ATL before my flight to DFW and Seattle. I will be checking out my floors sometime tonight. I have to go to work and class and then go home to see what the damage is.

I fly back to ATL tomorrow. What a nut.

I had a bad day yesterday (well, last night) with cheese and a glass of wine. I will be better today and back on track by Saturday when I return to Seattle for two weeks.

I have two offers on my condo, one is way too low and one I countered. I think at this point if we meet half way or more with the second, I'll take it as I'm sick of the whole process.

Melissa - I sort of enjoyed a few days of no superbowl hype. I hope the weather cooperates.

I'm glad you got an appointment to see the NP.

WHy do guys talk loudly into their cell phones? No one cares what they are talking about!

It's chilly here this morning--42 degrees, but tomorrow the high is going to be 80! Go figure.

Melissa, what does it mean "running the kitchen?" Are you going to be cooking for an army or selling food or what? That's a long day.

lala, I hope your condo sale goes through. I also hope your floors are beautiful. I could definitely get off track with some cheese and wine--two of my favorite things (geez, I sound like Maria in Sound of Music). Yes, why do guys talk loudly into their cell phones?? The funniest thing I ever saw was an Italian in Rome talking on his cellphone and, yep you got it, he was using his hands just like talking in person.

Hello, Pam, Susan, Austin, and Velveteen.

Hi Ladies,

Down another pound at weigh in today. I'm now 1/3 of the way to my goal. Like I said before it's really taking a lot longer this time to take it off.
I'll be back later.

Pam, that's great! I hear you that it's taking longer. I can attest to that.

Lala: Mmmm, cheese & wine two of my favorites! I'm looking forward to seeing the doctor on Friday--hopefully they can do something to help things out. No break in the hype here--it's just increasing as the week goes on.

Lisa: Yep, I'll be cooking & making sure that the pizzas, hotdogs, sauerkraut, etc. are cooked and ready to go. It's not that bad once you get set up and yes, it does make for a long day. The extra $$ is nice though.

Pam: Way to go on the loss!!

I'm down .4 this week--I guess I'll take what I can get. I'm also in the middle of TOM so that may be part of it. I'm just getting a little frustrated that with my walking it's not coming off. Dratted hormones!

Hi to Velveteen, Austingal & Susan!

Hi Ladies,

It sure is quiet here this week. Today is my Friday Not too much planned for the weekend. Taking tomorrow off to bring Lauren to a Dr's appt. and I think we'll be having dinner with my sister and brother in law on Friday night. Maybe go watch the Umass basketball team play on Saturday..we'll see. Weatherwise, the temps will continue to be higher than usual through Sunday.

Melissa congrats on the loss! Hope things go well with your Dr's appt tomorrow. We didn't get too much snowfall either in January, total was 13 inches and the ave temp was 33 degrees. Not too bad. Good luck with your kitchen work on Saturday, that's going to be a long day.

Lisa Hope your enjoying those 80 degree temps....I so envy you.

Lala hoping the condo sale goes through. It will be nice for you not to have to worry about that anymore.

Hi Susan.

I may be back tomorrow, but if not, wishing you all a fine weekend.

Pam, it's my Friday, too. I plan to play golf on Saturday and see a friend in a show. On Sunday, it's a Super Bowl party. Go Steelers.

Melissa, Yea on the loss.

We're going over a friend's house on Sunday for the Super Bowl and she is a former WW member who backslid big time. It's also her birthday, so I'm making her a low-point WW pie. She sure doesn't need the big old birthday cake. You should have seen her when she had lost the weight on WW; she looked fabulous and everyone told her so. I just don't know why she wants to look the way she does.

Hello, lala, Susan, Velveteen.
