Good morning. It's a humid, foggy day this morning. It will be in the high 80's today. I don't know when we will get a hot weather break.
Today is WI day and I'm not very hopeful. I was a this past week. All of the things we know we should not eat, I ate. I knew what I was doing, too. That's what makes it worse. Oh well, move on.
DH had his birthday and I ate not one, but two pieces of birthday cake. I also drank too much wine on Saturday night.
Played golf with DH and had a pretty good game, but it was quite humid. On Saturday I walked 5K for a cure for breast cancer. There was a great turnout for that and I heard over $80K were raised.
Went shopping yesterday. Found no clothes, but lots of shoes (just what I need) I probably have 60 pairs of shoes. That's saying something with my big feet. It's not easy finding shoes for me (I wear 11 1/2).
Good morning! It's cold here and we have no heat here at work--my fingers are numb! The weekend weather was cold/rainy/dreary thanks to Tammy. The clouds are hanging around and so are the cooler temps.
Lisa: I'm in the boat with you on the bad eating--yesterday was not very pretty and I worry about what the scale will reflect on Wednesday! I was doing really, really good so I'm hoping all is not lost. I'm planning on getting a walk in over the lunch hour providing there is no rain. Maybe I'll warm up a little too!
We took a drive on Saturday and got some fresh apples...I love a good apple on a fall day! I'm only here at work through Wednesday then DH and I leave for our mini vacation. I'm really looking forward to the time away! More later.
Hi to Susan, Lala, Pam, Austin! Hope you had a great weekend!
Melissa, where are you and DH headed? Next week DH and I will be going on our mini-vacation to Rhode Island. Well, is it a vacation for him? He'll be running a marathon. I hope it's not too cold up there; I'm really having a hard time deciding what to pack.
Lisa: DH and I are headed to Peapack, NJ to visit his sister. We're making a stop just outside of Williamport PA to a B&B on Thursday and then travel the rest of the way to NJ. We're looking forward to the time away. I was checking out the forecast and it's supposed to be cool (low 60's) so it'll be "fall-like" weather. I don't mind. Hopefully the weather will be nice for you!
Very rainy weekend, over 11 inches fell in parts of Western Mass. Still rainy and overcast today and the temps have gone down considerably. Only in the 50's this afternoon.
We went to see "Two for the Money" yesterday afternoon. I'm an Al Pacino fan. It was a good movie and a good way to spend a rainy Sunday. Didn't really do too much else. Didn't go to dinner with sis and her DH because my DH couldn't tear himself away from the Red Sox game and her DH was waiting for the Yankees game to start. We've rescheduled for this Friday. Now that the (Red) Soxs are out of it there shouldn't be any game conflicts.
Lisa I think the weather should be nice in RI next week since all the rain is coming this week. It also should be close to peak leaf peeping season. I would pack a light jacket and a couple of light weight sweaters, it will be cool at night although the afternoons could be in the low 60's. I love Newport, the mansions are beautiful and the "cliff walk" is also a lot of fun. Close by is the tennis hall of fame. But most importantly if you love seafood you can find some of the best there!
Melissa I've been wanting to pick some fresh apples also but the weather has just been awful. Hopefully next weekend. The problem will be staying away from the apple cider donuts at the orchard. I wish mine and DH's mini vacation was next week also but we have to wait until Nov. 11th. I'm so ready for a break, work has been crazy lately.
Well ladies, I'm off to a meeting. Kind of quite here today many people have taken the day off. I may be back later. Hi to Susan and Lala!
Happy Thanksgiving in Canada. My favorite holiday indeed.
Nothing much going on here. I had a relatively uneventful weekend. Ate a donut or two that I shouldn't have, but did okay other than that.
Am at work for part of today and then working from home.
I need to get my butt in gear and get some of this weight off just to fit into my clothes for the fall. It is not a happy sight to behold. There was an interesting article today in the paper on the link between obesity and lack of sleep. I am the number one poster child of that, I think.
Lisa -- Congrats on the 5K. Don't beat yourself up on the cake, it only happens once a year.
Melissa -- I'm in agreement on the apples. No heat, that is bad.
Hi to everyone else, hope everything is mellow and calm. I'll be out of touch tomorrow, I'm going to NYC on a quest for 4844 miles. Sad but true.
WI was not pretty--up 4#. I knew that I had gained, but that's a lot. I erased last month's victory and more. I need to get serious again. My car is in the shop today--needs new brakes. Last week, DH's car was in, now it's my turn. I tell you one never can get ahead.
lala, I don't understand the quest for 4844 miles?? Obesity is definitely a factor with sleeping. I am sure you are NOT obese!!
Melissa, mmmm apples. They are my favorite fruit next to grapes. I used to love drinking apple cider when I lived up north.
Pam, what is up with your weather? I sure hope it does get it out of its system before we arrive. 11 inches of rain--is that still Tammy? I hadn't heard of that movie. Nothing at the movie theaters has been getting my interest lately. We've been going to plays. Yes, I plan to do both: see the mansions and walk the Cliff Walk. Seafood would be great; it is getting so expensive here. They are blaming the hurricanes. Sorry about your Bosox, but Yankees are out, too!
Lisa -- I'm getting obese, I just don't fit the profile. Read my blog and see why I am flying this absurd route three times. There is a great difference between 99,000 and 100,000 miles flown in the eyes of the airlines.
Pam -- that is too much rain.
Melissa -- I'll wave as I fly over you today (twice).
I'm back, had a ground hold, wouldn't make my connecting flight. They rescheduled me for the 23rd of October. Nice as that day I had to be out of DP's hair for her written generals...
Count me among those who had a bad weekend food-wise. I weighed in on Saturday and was up 1.8 lbs. That's because of a major binge on Friday nite. Don't know why I did that; I knew I was weighing in the next day.
Anyway, I stayed for the meeting and we discussing Thanksgiving dinner and the mega points associated with it and how to avoid registering a gain next week. I paid careful attention at the meeting, then threw caution to the wind. I went completely overboard on sweets, not even a trigger food for me. I'm thinking I've wiped out my initial loss and added a few to boot.
Melissa/Lisa: I envy those upcoming mini-vacations. My estranged partner left for Italy on Saturday. I dropped in to say good-bye. It was awkward.
lala: I don't understand what you mean about the airline points/miles thing. Anyway, I'm glad that the next date works for you.
Pam: We also received rain all weekend from Tammy. I didn't move out of the house Sunday or Monday; it was coming down in ridiculous amounts. Martha Stewart was supposed to take part in a pumpkin race across a lake about an hour outside of town but her flight was grounded in fog in Bar Harbour. Lots of disappointed fans I guess but they had a great turnout as a result of all the publicity.
I'm supposed to run 12 km tonight. The sky is still threatening more rain, if that's possible. I'll have to get out regardless.
Susan -- sorry about the weight gain. The miles thing is something that is a strange thing, once you get started it is hard to stop... The next date is great as DP wanted to get me out of the house that day to the point of booking me a day of beauty to keep me out of her hair. (whatever)...
Poor Martha.
I would like to see a pumpkin race.
Sorry Lisa for the high weigh in also. Maybe it was a blip...
A quick hello from me today. On my way to a retirement party. Oh what a thrilling life I have!
Lala I don't know..I think I would have preferred the day of beauty. I read your blog and I think I understand what your doing regarding the travel miles. Obviously flying doesn't make you nervous. I wish I was more like that..I always get a little antsy.
Susan blame the 1.8 # on the holiday and forget about it. I can't believe it is still raining here. I guess on the positive side at least it isn't snow.
Lisa yes a real bummer about the red sox but I'm thrilled that the dreaded Yanks are now out of it too. I'm cheering for the white sox. They deserve it.
Melissa hi hope your weather is better than mine.
Well ladies must dash...I'll talk to you tomorrow.
Pam -- I'm doing the day of beauty some other day. I would have settled for a movie and a pedicure, but she's really trying to concentrate and get me out of the house.
Good morning ladies! Another dreary, cool morning here. This front is truly hanging around way longer than I'd like! It really hard to get motivated when the weather is the way it is.
Susan: Just focus forward--I know it's hard--I had the same trouble last week when I posted a gain. It's struggle and things don't change over night. The best thing we can do for ourselves is to not beat ourselves up and move ahead. I hope things there start looking up for you. I can't imagine how I'd feel if I were in the same situation. Let's hope the time apart will help. Keep up the great work with the running!!
Lala: I hope your flights went well for you. I'm not sure if I'll be flying to Chicago in December or not at this point.
Lisa: Let's hope the gain was just a blip and not a true gain. You would have to eat an awful lot to gain 4#! I know I was pretty discouraged last week when I registered the 2.6# gain. Keep focused and you'll be okay. I have to take my car in for an oil change in the next couple of weeks. They also need to update my inspection sticker.
Pam: I'm so tired of this crappy weather! I've been able to get out and walk at noon but it would be so much nicer if the sun would peek out for a bit. We got some cider and doughnut holes last weekend--I was able to have just a small glass and 1 donut hole and that satisfied me. I'm not a big sweet eater thank goodness!
On a happy note, I went to WI this morning on my way to work and posted a 3# loss!! Can I tell you how happy that makes me with going away tomorrow? I plan to stay on track and keep up with my journal so I can see what I'm doing. It shouldn't be too hard. It's quiet here in the office--students are gone for break and my boss decided to take the day off as well
Melissa, congrats on the loss. You must be doing the right things. I know that much of a gain was a big surprise to me. I expected maybe a 2# gain because of the big meals and cake this past week. Sorry your weather is crappy.
Pam, you folks have really gotten hit with the rain. I feel so bad for the NH folks. I heard that Keene was hit really hard. DH and I were there several years ago for a marathon and it was so pretty there.
Susan, it must be nice to be back in your house. Ditto what Melissa said.
lala, a day of beauty sounds like fun.
Well, I just returned from the chiropractor and he wants me to stop running for 2 weeks. My right hamstring is really acting up and not getting better.
