Starting Today

  • Hello all,

I am just starting Weight Watchers again for the millionith time, with a new committment. I have 100 pounds to lose. I use to post on this board about six years ago, and found it really helpful. I am also going to OA.

I now find this board to be really overwhelming and some of the message posts are so so long I can't follow the conversation. I am just looking for some support - again!

    Thanks everyone.

  • Hi, Elaine!

Yes, this board is very big and overwhelming. I think the key is to find your little niche, and stick with that.
The moderators have done a great job of seperating things out, so it's not so overwhelming, once you decide where you'd like to start posting.

Since you're doing WW - it looks like you've started in the right place.

I hope you find what' you're needing - I have alot of weight to lose, myself - so, I know where you're coming from.
  • Thanks
    Dear Erin,

Thanks! Did I read your graph correctly, that you are at 230 or so? That is where I am also. When did you start?k

I am on my way to my very first weigh in and meeting now, so I'll report back tomorrow the "official" reading.

    Thanks,
    Elaine R.
  • I was 225 when I started. I started 2 weeks ago, tomorrow.

I can't wait to hear how it went for you!
  • <waving to another Elaine>

Welcome! Wonder if we chatted together, as I was here about 6 years ago myself, when I first did WW as well. You're in good company here, and we're glad to have you along for the ride!
  • I am waiting with baited breath - how did the meeting go?~!

    Dear Erin and Boston Elaine,

Thank you both so much for dropping me a line!

My weigh-in at my first meeting was, gulp, 234. I made up my mind before I went that I wasn't going to be upset by the number no matter what it was, and I stuck to that. I knew it had to be close to that anyway.. so no big surprise, really.

Elaine, we may well have chatted. To be honest, I don't really remember Sorry. I was living in New York City at the time and my weight was about 185 and I thought THEN that I was the fattest ever and couldn't possibly get any bigger! Then, 9-11 happened, and job cutbacks, and move to another city... life just gets in the way sometimes!

I really want to tackle this problem this time, and I know for me its so much more than just food. So, I am also going to start going to OA. That first meeting is tonight. I know I have big issues around trust with people and I definately use food to replace the risk that being social requires.

Sooo... here we go, 99 pounds and counting!

    Best,

  • Elaine R,
I can totally relate to the 185 (being the biggest that you were and couldnt get any bigger) I was the same...until five months ago I hit 240.5. I resolved then and there to start exercising five times a week and it has helped. I started ww on the 13th of June and have since lost a few lbs. One lb at a time! You can do it girl.....we are here to help. Keep up the good work.
  • Hi Gals,
I just wanted to pop in and say hello and encourage you all.

I personally don't know what is like to have to lose 100 plus pounds but that is where Weight Watchers Meetings come in for support and 3 Fat Chicks!

Monday night.........one of the members in my WW meeting has lost 169.8 pounds! She is 19 pounds from goal! I told her I hope she will consider working for WWers when she is at goal because we currently do not have any 100 pounds plus losers in our territory and I think it would be such an encouragement for memebers who need to lose that much! She is thinking about it! Besides it takes the same work for 5 #'s..hard work indeed!

This year I have had 4 members lose over 100 pounds..it is awesome and they get lots of support from everyone in the group.

    So !!!!!!

It is possible and it can be done..................................go for it and don"t quit to you get there!

    I wish you the best!

Thanks to all that posted. I find success stories of people who have lost 100 pounds or more to be really helpful, especially if they are over 40!

I am starting a new thread and calling it "My First Week".. so come post over there!

    Thanks,
