Flexers chat & support August 1-31
Hope everyone had a good weekend :sunny:
Congratulations again to legally brunette for losing a total of 13 lbs :cp: (as posted at the end of the July thread) I had a terrible dinner on Saturday so I have been trying to do better for the last 2 days. Weigh in is tomorrow after work but I am not expecting too much, as long as I haven't gained I will be happy. |
I only lost 8 oz this week. Sigh. I suppose my period is supposed to arrive any second now so I can attribute the disappointing number to monthly water gain...
I thought about going CORE this week, but got weak while making pasta for dinner. The hubby doesn't even want to see whole wheat pasta...and I could see myself using up all 35 bonus points just on all the stuff that I can't switch b/c then I'd have to make 2 of everything...and it's hard enough to cook just one thing! |
natcat - the pms thing will do it everytime, it makes me gain 1 to 2lbs. I am sure that will show up at my weighin tonight but will be gone in a day or two.
|
4 POUNDS!!!!! 4 POUNDS!!! I had WI this morning and lost 4 POUNDS!!!I came home and hugged and kissed my Gazelle!
I got my 30 pound ribbon and I am thrilled with myself. I really worked for it this week. |
Hi, everyone! I'm new to this forum, and new to WW. Infact, I'm joining on Thursday. My friend joined 2 weeks ago, and she's convinced me to come along.
I have a considerable amount of weight to lose, and I'm hoping that it will work! I've gotten very sedentary the last few months, so I'm looking for some support, some exercise to get me moving again, and a way to find balance with the food I eat. I binge constantly. It will be great to see your stories unfold. I look forward to reading your posts! |
I had a bad evening. Actually, it was a very enjoyable evening -- went out to dinner with a friend who is in town for a conference...but I just added up the points total for my dinner and it was 17! Ouch! I had been eating light today and gave myself a 10 point allowance for dinner...
How many of those bonus 35 points are you allowed to have in a single day? Tomorrow is going to be a soy cheese on fibre crackers day... |
Hi, I'm new to this board too, but not to WW. I've been at is since 2002, made lifetime over the summer. Now I'm on my way to my personal goal. I hope you don't mind if I jump in.
Re: the whole wheat pasta. I was completely anti-whole wheat pasta too. But I just tried the Barilla plus whole wheat pasta and it's terrific! Honestly, there was no difference at all. I'm an Italian girl through and through and an admitted pasta snob. I loved it and so did my DH and DD, who is THE pickiest eater on the planet. |
Congratulations Sherri! :bravo:
Welcome WDWerin and Teelee6  Natcat- you can use as many of the 35 points in a day as you want to, just don't forget to mark them off on your tracker. I did gain 2lbs due to pms - I knew it! But I know that it will be gone again in a day or two so I'm not stressing over it. :) |
I'm so looking forward to joining tomorrow! I can't wait, really!!!! I feel like it's finally a step in the right direction -after a year of whining and complaining about my weight -I'm finally going to DO something!
Any advice for my first meeting? OH - and my friend and I are going to walk today! Thanks for the warm welcome mauvaisroux |
WDWerin and Teelee6 : Welcome! I think this is a great thread, hopefully you can find and GIVE inspiration!!
Natcat, don't give yourself too hard of a time, it is one dinner over the course of a looooonnng journey. It is so easy to beat ourselves up, but look how far we have come!! I am feeling overly optimstic today! I will be Gazelleing tonight! |
Today was a much better day pointswise. But crazy busy so I didn't actually sit down for a meal other than breakfast (and we were out of milk and cereal and tortillas and eggs so we had almond butter on toast). The rest of the day was just little snacks. I tried to add protein as much as possible. And I'll try not to schedule 3 gigs back to back like that again!
My last client of the evening gave me a frozen Horizon low-fat yogurt stick -- it's about 1/4 the size of a yogurt cup; it's low-fat and she froze it so it was like ice cream -- yummy! I'm sure it was no more than 2 points (so that's how I guesstimated it on my Tracker). I've got to find some. Always looking for creamy, frozen, portion-controlled treats. |
Back From Vacation..i Maintained!!!!
I am back from 2 weeks at camp. I had all the good intentions of keeping track of points while there, but I didn't even open my Quiktrakker once. :o I hate to say it, but I had bacon and eggs for breakfast EVERY DAY. Oooooh how I haved missed that. In any case, this was really a test of whether my eating habits had really changed, and I am pleased to say that they really have. I brought back a whole whack of unopened snack food, even though I brought less than I usually do for camping. My bacon and eggs were offset every day by all the activity of biking, hiking, swimming, and canoeing I did. I must have done a good job of balancing what I eat to my activity, because I didn't gain a single pound, and I think I may have lost 1 pound or so. WI is tonight, so we shall see what the scales there say!
|
hey girls!
sorry I have been MIA. I had a good weigh in this week, down 2 pounds, and I was stuck at 137 for the ENtire MONTH OF July! so let August melt these last few pounds off!! |
Glad everyone is doing well :)
Erin how did your first meeting go? |
Hi Everyone!
mauvaisoux - My first meeting was fabulous! I really liked the leader, and I found out that I knew alot of the people there. It was a wonderful meeting with a great balance of laughter and learning. I honestly can't WAIT until the next meeting! Stacey - congrats on the great weigh in! It sounds like you finally broke through a plateau? I bet it feels great! Natcat - I'm glad you had a better day today! Overall, it sounds like everyone is doing great! How about you mauvaisroux? |
Hi All...I too have been away for a while....computer problems. Still lovin' this board. Much inspiration going on....and Sherry Way To Go!!! 4 lbs Wow-wee!!!!!!! :bravo:
I have had some bad times of late....had a decent well somewhat decent week. I have been battleing Core and Flex so long that finally and FINALLY I have given up Core....NO can do, just can't and don't want to. So anyway about my week.....w/i down only 0.1 but IT was after all a MINUS!!! :D Could have been the Chinese food and ice cream the night before  So I am very Ok with the weight in. As for the WW pasta, yes the barilla is good, but if any one is going to do Core it is not a core item. (well not yet :D ) asked in answered in a meeting. Saturday starts my new week so here I go with all the best of intentions and I feel confident that each day will be good. I was considering changing my W/I to Thursday ONLY because after a LONG stressful week at work I like to indulge :D on Friday night, but weaning my way off of NOT going to W/I on Saturday may be hard. I'll think more about that one!! I must however do some exercise so I might get out my WATP tapes. Welcome Erin, NatCat, and welcome back Allie and Stacy. I wish everyone a good day out there and please keep the inspiration coming. I am a lifetimer who kind of feel off the wagon about 20 lbs ago :dizzy: Are you still doing the weekly menu board??? I'll go check..... Glad you are still here.............. |
Good job everyone!
Summer is great for getting activity, hey? Even an hour of fighting weeds in the garden can help burn away pounds. Don't give up activity...it's been my key for losing weight! Good WI this week, down 2.2! That was with my camping eating. Actually, this represents 2 weeks worth, since I skipped a meeting (no WW in the northern Ontario wilderness...not many bears and moose with weight problems, I suppose  ). So, I am down 1.1 each week for 2 weeks. |
It's nice to meet you Trying2Refocus - I am sure you'll get back to goal - you did it once!!!! You can certainly do it again!!!!!!
I'd like to see the weekly menu board??? Where can I find this? I love to see what others are eating. Congrats Allie, on 2.2 pounds! Nicely done. I am having another great day with flex. I had a banana and some cottage cheese AND a slice of Nature's Own wheat toast w/ spray butter for breakfast. A WW meal and grapes for lunch. I'm drinking LOTSA water. Once it cools down a bit this evening, I will be painting the walls in my living room! How's everyone else's day going? |
Erin- glad your first meeting turned out well! :)
I had a terrible weekend foodwise and am calling it a write off  I ate out everyday since Thursday so I have gained 2lbs but am back on track today. I have to mentally prepare myself for my vacation next week and plan out where I am eating and what groceries to buy. We go to the same place every year so I know what restaurants are the best bets. We also have a hotel room that is a suite and has a fridge, microwave and coffee maker available so I buy some groceries from the local store to save money and points. |
Weigh in tonight and not looking forward to it - I know I've gained :(
I almost felt like bailing but I will miss my meeting next week as I am while on holiday so I can't miss 2 in a row. |
It's good to go. It's better to know where you stand, rather than avoid it. You're going to do great. Even if you gained, you still went and did what was best.
|
Thanks Erin :) I convinced myself to go and I'm glad I did. I actually stayed the same as last week so I was fretting over nothing
Lesson learned: even if you are afraid of what the scale is going to say go to your meeting - you may be pleasantly surprised! :D |
I've had those meetings that you just want to skip, too. But I go anyway, and I always am glad I went.
I am down 1 pound this week, not much, but enough for me to get my 30 lb ribbon! As for whole wheat pasta...love the stuff. DH never noticed I switched, except to say that the pasta tasted better than usual. Just hide it under lots of tomato sauce and veggies. I found a workout DVD in a drawer that I had forgotten about. I've used it 4 times this week. :D I hope that gets me out of the "only one pound a week" rut. |
I'm glad you decided to go mauvaisroux - and I'm super happy that it wasn't as bad as you thought!!!
I was down 4.8 pounds - but, I know that the first week is usually a fairly big loss... |
allie - keep it up, you are thisclose :cheer:
Erin congrats on the 4.8 :cp: I won't be around for the next week as I will be on holiday. I am planning to have fun, eat well but not get too obsessed with it and try to get some exercise by walking and swimming. See you all next week! |
Have fun!!!!!!!!!! :c)
|
Hi gang I am still here! I have not posted in a while, but am still kicking! Had a horrible WI on Tuesday, I actually was UP 2 POUNDS! Ugh. But, am back on track today (wednesday).
Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the last few weeks of summer. I don't know about you all....but I am ready for fall! |
Sherry - I'm so ready for fall, too. I'm working so hard on getting my house in order to begin our school year and get ready for the holidays (and this holiday I don't want to weigh 225!)
You'll have a better weigh in next week. I suspect I'll have a bad weigh in this week. I had 3 bad days this week. 3 in a row. Today is much better, though. I do know that I'm trying to work THROUGH my problem, instead of just eating more. |
Erin: I love to decorate my house for fall, between the pumpkins and mums I drive my husband crazy!
Oh...I sooo agree with the not wanting to be as big as I was last year! I look back at those photos and just feel like tearing them up! Good luck with the rest of your week! |
Sherry - I'm with you on the decorating - I go crazy with fall stuff. Scarecrows, pumpkins...green, orange, brown...love it!!!!
|
As a teacher, I've been busy preparing for fall, too. Summer just seems too short!
Had a good WI this week, down 2.6! I passed my labour day goal this week! The workout video I shook the dust off has really made a difference. :jig: The garden is producing so much good stuff. Yesterday I had fresh tomatoes on toast, fresh corn-on-the-cob, and fresh watermelon! YUM. :hun: Ugh to last year's pictures, I agree Sherry! I had a roll of film in the camera for over a year, and I just got it developed last week. Last year's vacation pictures have this huge guy and gal in them, who I hardly recognize anymore compared to the way my DH and I look now! |
I have a question
My journey began in February. I have lost almost 40 lbs total. I decided to join WW for the support and I have now been on Flex for 5 weeks. At first I lost 3-4 lbs per week. I have a lot to lose. Last week my loss was 1.4....that was Thursday. I weighed this morning and I am 1 pound heavier and have not lost for over a week. I follow the program very carefully, making sure I eat my target points and rarely use any flex points. I walk a mile every single morning. Is it normal to plauteau like this. My daughter is on the same and is losing 4-6 lbs a week. I can see the inches leaving but the lbs seem to be hangign on???
Thanks, Katy |
Hi katy,
Talk to your leader about plateaus, leaders have a sheet about suggestions for getting off a plateau. You said that you hardly eat your flex points, and I have heard a lot of people say that not eating them can really slow down your metabolism, so that you burn fat much slower. Try eating more of those points, and increase the intensity of your walks (power walk...work up a sweat!), so that your metabolism speeds up. When I plateuxed (1 pound or less per week), I increased the intensity of my workouts, and that did the trick. BTW, I eat about 2/3 of my flex points. |
Hello fellow flexers!
Katy: I totally agree with Allie about you needing to speak with your leader. They are there for more then just to speak to the group as a whole. Unfortuantly, if your meeting is anything like mine, there is always 2 or 3 groupies who hang out afterwards to talk to the leader EVERY WEEK!! This gets really old, especially when it is the same people week after week, and they are discussing things that we already went over in the meeting. ANYWAY, if you have the same problem in your meetings, I would ask your leader when she weighs you in if you can speak to her privately after the meeting about some concerns you have. Also, WW only suggest you lose 1-2 pounds a week, it really isn't healthy to be losing large amounts of weight every week. Don't get too discouraged! :goodluck: I had a great WI this week, I lost 3.5 pounds and am feeling great. :goodscale I do have to change meeting days/times because of a change in my work schedule. My little girl is starting kindergarten this Friday! And I am working a little differently so I can be home when she gets on/off the bus. So...think of me this friday, I am sure it will be an emotional day! |
Hello everyone!
I'm back from holiday and had a wonderful time. :D I managed to walk a lot, do some pilates in my room in the am but did not make it to the pool. I ate pretty well and stayed the same weightwise. Now I just have to get back into my normal eating and exercising routine. I always get thrown off track for the 1st week after getting back from a vacation  |
Good Afternoon Ladies
Well it is really lousy here     - torrential rains and has been just awful all week. Supposed to clear tomorrow for the weekend I have been having a good day OP today but last nite was not too great. Went out to DS's girlfriends parents for supper and had a couple of drinks plus a really nice dessert that DS's GF made. Oh well I am not going to obsess - I went back and checked my stats for the summer. Since June 20 I am down about 4 lbs :jig: :jig: :jig: which although not great is not horrilbe either. So my game plan is to lose 6-8 by Sept 21 which will be the official end of summer. That gives me 4 weeks so it should be do able if I just get my head back on right :twirly: :twirly: I just can't seem to get with it over summer. Hope you are all having a great day I really feel like I am starting to QUACK!!! :dizzy: :dizzy: :dizzy: :dizzy: Cindy |
Hi everyone
This is my first day back posting since June. I gained back my 14 pounds and I'm going back to weight watchers tonight. I am sooooooo digusted with myself it isn't funny. I am going to go back and with any luck I'll do it this time  Congrats to everyone who has lost and good luck with it. Kim |
Hello everyone, I am new to this forum I have been doing LAWL and decided I really don't care for it so I am back to WW. I just wanted to drop in and say hello.
|
Hi, Haylo! Welcome to back to WW! Looks like you did alright on LAWL - 14 pounds? That's excellent!!!
:c) |
Erin, I did do okay on LAWL but the diet is very boring and there is no variety. Also I did gain some weight back because I had fallen off plan but I just haven't move my ticket back up.
