Hello all.........im an ex atkins follower, new to ww. I did weight watchers several years ago and was sucessful but opted to do atkins because i wanted to lose asap. I lost quite a bit to on atkins around 60lbs. After i stopped i gained about 20 back. I just couldnt bare to live another year without breads . It became to hard for me. I just wanted to post a thread to see if anyone has been on atkins and been sucessful when they switced to ww. Im happy with ww so far. its my 3rd day and i love all my choices. Im excited about this new process and would love to hear successes!!
thanks
lulu
I have been a member of WW twice...saw minimal results (because I got the big head and thought I could do it w/o the weekly meetings)... Now, I know different. My progress this time has been much, much slower, but I'm ok with that....means it will stay off this time... If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
thanks so much for the reply (smiles)
i was reading futher in the ww area of this site and came across something called wendy diet for ww, whats this do either of u know ? Im also hoping im balancing the points ok. i guess i will see on sunday when i go to my meeting.
slow and steady right?
The wendie plan is basically the current Flex plan. You basically eat a bit higher in points one day and lower the next. Since you just started WW I would recommend you stick to the program until you become more familiar with it and then if you want to retool it a bit you can try out different variations. It's good if you are stuck on a plateau and need to shake things up a bit.
I find that I lose weight better with a lower carb plan so I am combining South Beach Diet with WW and I find it is working for me. Though if you have just come off Atkins you probably won't want to do that
I will see if I can find an old post about the Wendie plan for you.
i'm in the same position, leaving atkins for ww -- i am excited about getting to eat fruit!! (i never thought i'd see the day that i'd be leaving a diet because i miss fruit too much...haha)
mauvais, i'll be trying sort of what you are -- cutting out refined sugars and the like, and eating 'good' carbs...i lose best on a low-carb plan, so i understand totally what you're talking about
Just posted this for anyone interested - the thread is called "info on the Wendie plan"
Lulu - you may want to stick to the regular ww plan since you just started an it might be too much information all at once and just end up being confusing. The Wendie plan is not a WW official plan, its something a WW member made up for herself and then she shared it in a women's magazine.
My advice is to learn the WW flexpoints first so that you have a full understanding of the plan and then if you feel comfortable enough to venture into Wendie Plan territory then by all means give it a try
thanks for the advice. i have to say so far im quite happy with the plan. but i find it hard to cook things to eat. I mean i see the recepies on here but they all need like a million ingredients. Im looking for simple food to make for work or freeze for later. any ideas where i can find some simple flex meals?
For quick meals I always take something out of the freezer before I leave for work so I am not scrambling for ideas when I get home that evening and I am more likely to make something from a recipe on the weekends when I have more time to cook:
Easy meals I make:
Captain Highliners salmon in dill sauce or herbed fish filets: pop into the oven, takes 15 minutes to cook;while it is cooking I steam some vegetables and make some minute rice to go with it
Boneless chicken breasts: Sprinkle with Mrs. Dash seasonings or lemon pepper seasoning bake in oven 15-20 minutes until no longer pink; in the meantime boil some mini redskin potatoes or new white potatoes and steam some fiddleheads, asparagus or green beans to go with it.
Broiled steak: take a 4oz piece of steak and season with Montreal steak spice, broil in oven until cooked to your liking- I like mine medium/well - serve with a side Ceasar salad or garden salad
Pork chops: take some boneless pork chops, baste with BBQ sauce or any marinade sauce you like pop into oven and grill or bake until no longer pink. Boil some new potatoes and steam some green beans to go with it.
These can all be microwaved for a decent meal at work.
I usually bring a salad to work, yogurt, celery with laughing cow cheese, carrots with hummous, fruit, low fat pudding etc.
I hope you are successful with WW. It is a great plan. Like most I have tried just about all the weight loss plans out there with varied success. The best thing and the most important thing to remember is that it is meant to be a Lifestyle Change and not a quick fix. Most of us need to relearn how to eat properly to keep this weight off for the rest of our lives. You will have to find what works for you.
I find I restrict my bad carbs, like white bread, pasta, rice potatoes. Not alot of sugary items. I lose better if I don't eat as many of these items.
I also drink close to 5-6 lts of water a day. And I try not to eat of snack after 7:30 or 8 at night Those are just some things that I have found to work for me.
Everyone is different

I was also following the Atkins diet for many years. I probably lost close to 20 lbs doing the low-carb thing. Then I found myself in a rut. I missed fruit so badly. How I made it through last summer, I will never know. Anyway, now i am following the flex plan and am enjoying myself and my food choices much better. Plus I lost another 5 pounds, so that all works well. Unfortunately, I am still "afraid" of bread. I cannot eat it. I am still afraid of "flour" carbs and still will not eat them, even though I know that I can following the ww plan.
Wow! I can see I am not alone here at all! I just finished Atkins induction and lost 8 pounds but I really want fruit and pasta! Yesterday a gave in and had some light popcorn(It tasted sooooooooo good!) it was then that made me say this isn't for me.
Even if I lose slower I want to eat like a normal person.
