Hi, In my local meetings the bracelets are just $8.95. I can't believe the prices that are being charged for them here and else where. You can make one for about $3 dollars usually. My local Dollar General store had bracelet kits with lots of different beads for $1.00. l have already made 5 bracelets from the beads in the kit. They have silver beads, butterfly beads, flower beads and many more in them. Check out a Dollar Store in your area and see if they have anything like that. You can buy different charms at Wal-Mart for .98 cents a pack of three or four different charms. All kinds available. If you are on a budget like me you have to save money.

Bracelets are easy to make. Just string the beads on elastic cord and tie. No problem. They really help keep you on track.

Thanks for the great idea - I did hit Michaels the other day and made several. I am getting a lot of compliments on mine.

Loved the idea of a link bracelet and just moving the charm on the links - QVC has some great bracelets and charms - also saw some great enameled charms in our mall - will have to take a closer peek - I'm always afraid my stretchy one will break even though it has a million knots in it.

If you aren't too crafty a lot of places have the bracelets already made - just buy one and add the charm.

I finally broke down and bought a fantastic (not cheap) fused glass bead bracelet from a glass gallery in town. I can go to any bead store to buy the little charm thingie, right?

Directions -
Ok ladies I hope no one will hate me for this but here is what I use for bracelets:

I buy ultra thin fishing line OR jewelry wire.
One lobster clasp (gold or silver)
One charm (gold or silver) with a jump ring
2 "fancy" beads made of silver or gold
6 "pearls" 8mm
20 crystal glass beads - 8mm
One toggle (ring and bar)

Start by wrapping the wire around the "round" toggle 2-3 times.
Next put on the fancy bead.
Then a pearl, then 4 beads, then a pearl, 4 beads, etc until all the pearls and beads are used. Next put on the other fancy gold bead.
Wrap the wire or fishing line around the "bar" toggle 2-3 times.
I also put the extra end of fishing line through beads at the end for security.

Lastly, hook your charm on the lobster claw.

Depending on how fancy you want to go you can spend $4 or $40.
The above bracelet is for 26 pts. Add more beads for 30+ points.

My sister and I got bracelets at the meeting last night and decided instead to move the charm for each pound we lose. Since it is on our wrist is a constant reminder to eat better and this way we don't have to move it all day, we can just journal.

GREAT idea Amber - I totally love that you use it for pounds instead of points - so smart

Thank you for the tip - I made one of these for a friend who asked about an anklet but I couldn't imagine moving that lil charm on my leg 30 times a day !!

Awesome houndlvr1! Thanks for posting the "recipe"... and thanks to Amber for the idea of tracking pounds lost!! Hmmmm.... I may just have to run to Michael's or Ben Franklin Crafts today. (And I have a 40% off and a 30% off coupon to use at either place.............)

Hi there!
Does anyone have a photo of the points bracelet, as I'm having difficulty conceptualising how they work, and how the charm stays in place... here in New Zealand we have no such thing, and it sounds like a fantastic idea!
Many thanks
Rachel

Found a pic. I never even knew that this is what these bracelets were for! How do you make sure that the charm stays where you move it? I would think it would move around.

Default points bracelet

Hi there
I think the beads have to be larger than the diameter of the lobster clasp in order for the charm not to slip.
Can jewellery wire be used instead of fishing wire?
Regards
rachel

I am sure you could use jewellery wire. I may try making one with the elastic jewellery wire.
