Unhappy Afraid of weigh-in

Hope everyone had a good Easter!

I didn't go weigh in yesterday at WW because I'm afraid. I've had gains 2 weeks in a row and I just couldn't deal with another gain (it could have been a loss). Has that ever happened to anyone? I started on Kathy Smith's Lift Weights to Lose Weight so I'll hopefully be able to go and weigh myself next Monday. I'm just afraid of the scale now. It's depressing.

Hi Julie, I totaly know about the fear of the weigh in, but be strong I know when I start avoiding the scale I put it on pretty steadily because I no longer hold myself accountable. Weighing in is scary, but we can't change what we don't acknowledge. It can be a deppressing thought but concentrate on the excitment of having courage to face what you want to change. Also with weight lifting its normal to gain or stay the same-muscle weights more then fat and your body may just be redistrubuting. In the humble words of Guns N' Roses "Just a little patience". Good luck and be strong. Also I don't think theres is anything wrong with staying away from the scale for awile if you are still giving an honest effort in your weight loss endevor, sometimes that can be extra motivation, to see a 6 pound loss after af ew weeks instead of 2 pound loss in one week.

I agree with journeygirl. I too have had to face "scale avoidance" and not wanted to go to my weighin

Taking control and responsibility is part of the weight loss journey. You have to face your mistakes and take the ups and downs in stride. Your body may still be trying to adjust to your change in lifestyle. The more you avoid your weighin the worse you feel so you may as well go and take your lumps. You may be pleasantly surprised and find you haven't gained or have actually lost and if you don't like what the scale says then you can use that as a motivational tool! Get mad and kick butt! (hopefully by doing Tae Bo )

Also remember that the numbers on the scale aren't the only way to judge your losses.
How you feel overall, clothes getting more comfortable, being able to walk a flight of stairs without huffing and puffing are all small but very significant things that will let you know things are moving along.

Do you know why you had the gains? or are the 'unexplained?' I have been there too well not so much with the gains but with maintains for over 6 months even though I was trying...really hard plateau to break.

Staying away from teh scale isn't necessarily the best option. Face it. Then show your leader your journals and talk to her about it and see what she recommends.

The longer you stay away the easier it is just to shuck the program all together.
