Default Online Recipe Nutrition/Points Calculator?

Does anybody know of another FREE website where you can put in a recipe and have it tell you the nutrition info so I can calculate my points? There are so many recipes I would like to "makeover" or modify...even some WW recipes and don't because I don't know how that would change it. Since I pay to go to the meetings, I don't feel like I should have to pay for the eTools also. Just seeing if there is another option. I've done Google searches in the past with not much luck.

Thanks,

Well first off e-tools is a separate entity of W/W and to me it is worth it but I don't use the Recipe Builder in there because it is very often wrong in the calculations. It tends to cap the higher fiber recipes at 4 grams for the ENTIRE recipe and not per serving.

There are several things you can do to figure points for a recipe:

figure the points per ingredient total them up and divide by the number of servings

OR

figure the total cal/fat/fiber for each ingredient; total each up and divide each by the number of servings

OR

purchase a software program such as MasterCook ( www.valu-soft.com/products/mastercook.html ) for about $20 and install it on your computer.

I am sorry I don't have an online calculator site but http://www.calorieking.com and http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/search/ will help with nutritional information and http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/search/ can help with points for baking/cooking ingredients.

Yeah, after I started this thread, I did another google search for recipe calculators. There doesn't seem to be any freebies, but did find a couple of interesting software programs that I think I'll put on my Christmas list...lol.

The long method of totalling up the points of each ingredient is a lot of work to me. I do this sometimes when I'm throwing something together from leftover ingredients in the fridge, which is 3-4 ingredients max. Especially because I have A LOT of cookbooks and recipe clippings of favorite recipes. In order to do this, I would have to buy all the ingredients and then calculate it...only to possibly find out it's not so WW friendly after all...then what to do with all the ingredients. Ugh! So, sticking with WW recipes for now or recipes from Cooking Light and Light & Tasty or any other recipe with nutrition info at the end.

Thanks for letting me know you can get a FREE card from your leader. I'm going to ask about that.

Also thanks for letting me know the WW Recipe Builder doesn't always work right.

That is why you could use the websites I listed for ingredients (and you don't have to buy the. Use a spreadsheet to figure the points and then just mark the points in the margin of the recipe. It really doesn't take that long and isnt' that hard....I do it a lot of times.

BTW Mastercook is the software I recommend.
