RESTARTING ww again!!!

Hi everyone! I lost 30 pounds about 3 years ago on WW..I havent been able to lose anymore since then (yo yoed a bit) I have been trying other forms of dieting like atkins and south beach but found them too hard to follow. Finally, I decide to dig out the old WW info and go with what worked for me before!! Duh wish I would have thought of that before!

Anywho, I just wantedt o introduce myself to everyone!
I'll be posting more.
Thanks!
:cheer: Go Jaime Go Go Go Jaime!!!!

Amen to sticking with what works! I am restarting tomorrow (8/10) and could just kick myself for not doing it sooner, or just for sticking with it to begin with ( now THERE's an idea!)
Anyway, today is my first day posting to the board, so hopefully we will have lots of good news to share in the upcoming weeks!

billie_sammie 08-09-2004 06:13 PM

jaime and sherry...welcome back to program...we all know that it works...we just need to work it...easy said but hard to do...but with everyone's support i know that we can all do it... :)

mauvaisroux 08-09-2004 09:27 PM

welcome sherry! :D

Bev 08-10-2004 11:17 AM

I am also restarting ww again. Which ww plan are you ladies going back to?

Merrick 08-10-2004 12:03 PM

Good ole' WW

Welcome to everyone,

I too have gone back to WW, again

I also lost 30 lbs years ago and kept it off until, marriage, pregnancy, then divorce, life, etc...... :?:

Currently I am a 38yo single mom, who wants to live a long energetic life with my son. He is extremely athletic, and I cannot keep up with him at all. I want to play some sports with him. I need to live a long healthy life, I am all he has.

I have returned to WW so many times. This time I am logging into 3FC everyday. I am currently not able to attend meetings. But I am hoping to after my son returns to school. I am also looking forward to my brother and his family moving to my town. My sister in law and I are hoping to work on our weight, exercise together. She has nowhere near what I have to lose, but that's ok, we both need the motivation.

Thanks for reading, and love all the support here, :balloons:

mauvaisroux 08-10-2004 12:37 PM

I am going to WW with a friend too...it is a lot easier if you have a diet buddy. Also my husband is a big support and he has decide he wants to lose some weight too. He eats the same type of food that I do + some extra snacks that I don't eat and he goes walking with me in the evenings after work.

I find this site is a great support as well as a great place to get ideas and recipes :D

hdinwiddie 08-10-2004 04:30 PM

I too am returning to WW. I did great on the program app. 3 years ago. I'm not sure why I gave it up :?: I recently had a baby and I have gotten all my baby fat off, now I want to get some pre-pregnancy weight off. I think this sight seems great with all the support!!!!

I have joined and dropped out of WW more then I care to mention, I keep on wondering where I would be now if I had just stuck to it when I originally started. The most I have lost with WW was about 35 lbs. Then life just got in the way, we went on vacation and when I returned we had a new leader who I just did not care for...I thought (as we all seem to) that I could continue on my own. Well, I gained back every bit of weight I had lost and then some (okay, who am I kidding?....A LOT). So I am back with a renewed interest, and I am using this forum for the much needed support between meetings.
I have heard they are starting a new program-this always scares me, does anyone know anything about it?

Sweater Girl 08-11-2004 11:04 AM

Sherry: There's a thread on it in WW Home section. I think you can still follow flexpoints though. I do not do well with rules on a program. Doing my own thing with points was what worked for me! The most important thing you have done though is recognized your gain and are now going back so congrats!

Ali:)

New Program....

Another new program. What is the name of it? I have not been to a meeting since the spring. I bought a couple of the spiral journals to use at home for the summer. And have been trying to follow at home. Not successful, until I started 3FC everday, (2 wks).

hdinwiddie 08-11-2004 03:21 PM

Hi guys!!! I have a question. Today a friend I don't get to see too often stopped by the office and wanted to go to lunch. We went to Chilis and I had their Quesadilla explosion salad. (Only ate about 1/2) I cannot find any nutritional info on it but I counted it as 10 points, do you think that is right???? Or does anyone know how many points it is?????

Any help would be great.

Sounds good......

Heather, have you looked on the eating out section of this web site they have a ton of stuff listed. I personally would have no idea, but it sure does sound good.

hdinwiddie 08-11-2004 04:26 PM

Lynne,

Thanks!! I did see Chilis, but they didn't have my salad listed. From the looks of the other salad I think I'm in the ballpark. I will just stick with 10 points and try and lower other things for the day!!!!! :D

Apple Bees

Good Moring Everyone :coffee:

has anyone every tried the Apple Bee WW meals? :hungry:
We have an Apple Bees about 15 miles from my home. Before I take the trip I was wondering if they were any good. I do not like to go out to eat, because the portions are so big, and good. Which makes it hard for me to stop. As a child I was made to eat everything on my plate. I would sit at the table for hours trying to get out of it, but the poor children in other countries were starving.

My Baby is coming home today :cheer: . I can't wait. Just in time for football to start, so I can sit there in the rain and watch for 2 hours. That really sounds sarcastic, but I really do not mean it that way. I love watching him play sports. With the up and coming practices Monday thru Friday 5:30-7:30 pm, I am going to do my best to take advantage, walk (if there is a place to) for a few miles, :tread: and read. I love to read. I will make the best of it. At hockey I do not get to do that, There is no place to walk, the rinks are so crowded and the seats are to dirty to sit and read.... therefore I stand and freeze. I am sorry about babbling on about my son and sports

So how is every one doing?

Yesterday, I exercised I am up to 31 minutes of the firm cardio DVD :workout: . I stayed within my WW points. The kicker of it is I went to visit my cousin at her mother's cottage (my cousin lives in Maine) and we had cake, which I thought was going to push me into using my flex points and it did not :eating2:

Well I am off, back to work, so I can get out of here early and go Food shopping (from my planned menu for next week  ), before my baby comes home.

Good day to you all

Good morning Ladies!!!!!!

No I have not yet tried the Applebee's WW meals. We have some friends coming in to town tonight and we might go there. I will have to try one.

I had a super bad day yesterday!!! (Eating Wise)

I overate by about 8 points. The scales showed an increase of 2lbs. but it's back to being serious today. I had a granola bar for breakfast and I am taking a short lunch so I should be okay.

My daughter (Kayli, 4 months) has to go and have another round of check up shots today. :( Sounds like lots of fun, hun!!!

Well good luck everyone today and have a great weekend!!!!! :smug:

It is just another day....

Heather, it is just another day. don't get caught up in it, I know how easy it is to get so stuck in that mode. But You can do it, hey you took responsibility for it and like you said you'll try again. you can do it. :D
good Luck and have a great day

Angie-Wangie 08-14-2004 07:31 PM

Merrick....may that one pound have lots of company!! :) Keep your chin up and keep trying!

Merrick 08-15-2004 12:10 PM

Good Morning...

Angie-Wangie, thank very much for your support. I also hope and know that it will be followed by many more, however, it sure will not be from this past week. That is ok, I just spoke with my brother and sister inlaw, I told them I love them coming to visit, but I cannot continue to eat this way. My sister inlaw said she will start in a few days, my brother and myself both stated that we are starting, strict planning tomorrow. Today I will plan our meals and I will plan a more extensive exercise plan for myself. I just cannot take it. After listening to us, my sister inlaw then said she will also join us. My brother is very athletic, but apprently has not been pleased with the way he has been eating lately, go figure. Anyway, it will be alot easier to have guests when they will be eating the same way as I. Thank you God, I feel alot better.

Congrats to you on the weight loss. You must feel sooooooo good, and be very proud of yourself! I know I am proud of you. Did you lose it by doing WW? How long did it take you? What an accomplishment.

kmk 08-16-2004 12:49 PM

Its Monday and I have decided I have had enough of this downward spiral I have been living in. WW worked for me several years ago and this site was great support. The group I was a member of disbanded due to low numbers and I just never seemed to get any motivation from the other meeting in my area. I haven't been back here in over 2 years. I had my greatest success over 5 years ago-I saved my old weigh-ins. I was going to throw them out this morning while I was re-reading my 1-2-3 Success start-up info but decided they could motivate me. I am capable of making this happen. I know I need support to keep me on track so I can back here. I was starting to wonder if there was a thread for me to relate to. Lo, and behold... I have found my Peeps! I am feeling more confident now that I've found people who going through what I am. Here's to the success of the restarters!

Hi everyone!!! Sorry it's been so long since I posted, my daughter has been sick so I haven't had a great weekend.

Kristin- Welcome back and good luck. You can do it!!!!

This weekend could have been better but it also could have been worse, in regards to what I ate. But I am starting back very strict today. For some reason it is so much easier to follow the plan during the week then during the weekend. Then with a sick baby we did a lot of eating out. But I tried to stay within my points as best as I could and to be quite honest I didn't do too bad.

We are going to Florida in April and that is my motivation to do this.

Have a great day!!!!!!!!!!!!

To a New Day....

Good Morning to you all :coffee:

What a beautiful day it is here on the northeast coast of Mass. I love the sun. :D

Welcome back Kristin, this is a great thread for support. Great group of people here :grouphug: You can do it. You did it before yu can do it again.
Best of luck and we are here for you any time. :D

Heather: I know the feeling, accoutability is huge. Taking responsibility is such a good thing. You could have not logged on or owned up, but you didn't :cp: good for you. I feel the same way as you about the weekends, I feel it is because they seem to be less structured, maybe. :dunno:
I have not been having a great time myself, but I am not going to give up,keep on pushing.

How is everyone else doing? Good I hope.

kmk 08-17-2004 12:13 PM

Day 2 and still OP! I'm going to have to focus on the little steps for a while seeing as it will probably be some time before the results are evident. I'm looking forward to seeing my parents(and whatever family can make it)at Thanksgiving.I keep envisioning what it will feel like to be told "you look great". It seems to motivate me when I feel weak. Its funny how all those tools for living come flooding back-just more proof that WW really does know what they're doing.

Heather and Lynne-Thanks for the support. Its true for me that sharing my failures and successes here makes me more responsible. I'll try to be an adult about this but I absolutely refuse to grow up !(stomps foot petulantly)

Today just got much better. My husband just bought me a cd I was looking for(Spirit of the West)and now I'm on cloud nine. Attitude is everything , right? Who knows? Maybe I'll get so motivated I'll turn the treadmill on...and maybe even get on it! I've already done 2 1/2 hours of gardening so technically I'm covered exercise-wise but, hey,you never know.

I'm not sure yet how I'm going to handle the weekends. They've always been my downfall. Any suggestions?

Are any you doing this at home without meetings? How do you handle weigh-ins? The scale has not always been a supportive friend to me. I often start weighing daily and get frustrated even though I know there will be ups and down. I don't want to be come dependant on the numbers. Any suggestions on how to stay focused on the journey and not the pitstops?

Here's to today's successes, no matter how small they may seem.

-Kristin

hdinwiddie 08-17-2004 04:59 PM

Good afternoon!! ;)

How has everyone done today!! I have done quite well, considering the downfall of the weekend.

I had a cookie for breakfast, for lunch I had some lunch meat, swiss cheese, sugar free pudding, grapes, and for a snack I will have a banana. I am making a new receipe for dinner that is a cajun chicken pasta that only has 7 points.

My husband and I are going out of town this weekend for our anniversary so I really want to be good this week. My husband is very supportive so I shouldn't have a problem.

I hope everyone is doing great because when I really stick to my points I feel GRRReat!!!!

Have a great day!!!!!!!!!!!

Heather

fiftieslady 08-17-2004 08:54 PM

This is my first time so I hope it ends up where I intended it to. I am also starting again. I have gotten to goal TWICE but just can't seem to stay there. I started my journal again and took 2 walks today. My husband gives me lots of support but I need "buddies" who are going through the same thing. I can't get any of my friends interested in going to the meetings and since they are 25 miles away I am going to try it on my own, with the help of this support board.

ms_stella_blue 08-17-2004 10:28 PM

I just joined the site tonight so this is my first post. I started back to WW one week ago & tonight I had my first weigh/meeting. I've lost 9.2lbs this week! Believe me, if I can do this, anybody can!

kmk 08-18-2004 08:49 AM

Good morning one and all!

I'm trying to organize my day and motivate myself so I came here.

Janette - I also had a difficult time making maintenace work. Right now I have 50+ lbs to get rid of. I'm also doing this without meetings so hopefully we can get each other through this for the last time. This is my 3rd day back OP and, at this point, I'm keeping things as simple as possible. I know I need a variety to keep me interested but for this 1st week I'm focusing on just staying OP. We can do this, I know we can. Just look at those old weigh-ins. We did it before, we'll do it this time for good!

Stella Blue - You are my motivation for today! Your post gave me hope. It also gave me the strength to avoid the scale until Monday morning for my 1st week weigh-in. If I can lose even half of what you lost, I'll be doing a happy dance. I wonder if I can include a happy dance as part of my exercise?

To all of you restarters - Remember..."Great works are performed not by strength but by perseverance." Let's all stick to it today.

All right, I think I'm ready to face the day. I hope everyone has a great day and if not, we're all here to pick each other up.

-Kristin

SW - 184 8/16/04
Current goal - 30lbs(gone forever) in 12 weeks

Merrick 08-18-2004 09:10 AM

Here is another day to ......

good Morning to all youwonderful people/posters :coffee:

Well, I have come close to goal, once many, many years ago. I was able to keep it off, through alot of exercising and planning my meals. However life changed for me. I married a junk food junkie, I still was able to maintain, untill I got pregnant and placed on bedrest in my 2nd trimester. Well that left my husband to feed up, we all can imagine what happened from there. Yup, 70lbs. Then a divorce another 50lbs.

I went back to WW a million times ssince, no success. Then I found this web site, I weigh in once a week with Weight Wackers under the WW clubs every sunday. This keeps me accountable and own up for my error.

We can all do this, and this is a great place for support.

Janette, & Kristin you have done this before, you can do this again :D

Kristin great job on OP for day 3. :bravo: I am also doing WW at home. As for the weekends. Try to schedule yourself to be out of the house, sitting in a park reading a book, taking a walk with your husband, kids, or dog, visit friends or family with not treats, bring flowers instead. see a movie, sneak in your own, lite popcorn. Good Luck.

Welcome, Stell Blue congrats on the weight loss, :cp: :cp: :cp:
also welcome fifties lady, I feel you will both love this site, great people

Heather, have a great weekend, focus on the two of you, not the food. That is what it is all about. With that in mind, maybe you won't even think of food. :) :) have fun.

hdinwiddie 08-18-2004 09:24 AM

Good Morning!!!!

Merrick- Thanks for the advise. I will keep it in mind. My husband is very supportive and also tries to watch what he eats so things should be find.

To all the newbies---GOOD LUCK!!!!! Just remember this is a great place for support and you can do it!!!!!!!!

I bought a pedometer today for $4!!!!! It is a really neat little object and I need to step 5900 steps to burn 330 calories. But I took 100 steps from car into the office!!!

Everyone have a great day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Heather :smug:

Merrick 08-18-2004 08:59 PM

Heather, I have one also and started using it again this week. I am up to 2.5 miles just from walking around the house, the field, at my son's football practice, to the beach, etc. It is cool Ihope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine.

Have a good night.

fiftieslady 08-19-2004 07:19 AM

I gotta get me one of those. I know I take a lot of steps every day but it would be interesting to see just how many. You can get one free with Special K but you have to buy 3 boxes. Don't know if I can eat that much Special K--it has no fiber to speak of! I love my raisin bran--with all the fiber the effect it has is almost like eating a zero point food!

I have been on point for 3 days. We go out to eat tonight at one of the worse places to go--a fried chicken place with limited choices. But it is the place where the car show is so I will just have to cope.

Have a good day everyone. We can do this!!!

Merrick 08-19-2004 08:30 AM

What a Day!!!!

Good Morning to everyone :coffee: :coffee:

Fifties: It is amazing how many steps we each do take in a day. I have even found myself parking further, to get in more steps. I really like it. It would probably be less expensive to buy one at a sports store than to purchase 3 boxes of special K. Cereal is so expensive. I like the Go Lean line of cereal. My favorite is the Go Crunch, and Heart to Heart. It is realy good mix in with FF yogurt, like a granola. Creamy and crunchy. Use your flex points tonight and try to get a little more exercise for extra points :chicken: . don't let it ruin your time, you may become resentful, and then over indulge. Just be aware and have fun. :chin: :chicken: :coffee2:

Darby 08-19-2004 12:04 PM

Hello to All~

In process of reading threads and want to actively participate as well.
In March 2002, weighed 320 pounds. By November 2002, I was 220 pounds, a 100 pound loss in 8 months, adhering to WW Program. Unfortunately, hit a slick of rough road, stopped going to my meetings and in these months, have climbed up to 305.1 pounds.

Do not have transportation at the present time, so cannot go to WW Meetings. I have tried South Beach and Atkins, lost a bit, but couldn't stay on those programs.

I am ever so grateful for this web site, I plan to weigh weekly and be accountable. Have my WW books and sliders, and journaling everything I put in my mouth, except water and no cal beverages. There is no time limit for me to shed my pounds.... I'm most curious to see how the pounds come off.

Darlene

hdinwiddie 08-19-2004 02:08 PM

Good afternoon ladies!!!!

Darby - Welcome to the group!! You will find all the support you need to keep going right here. Just keep in mind you can do this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope everyone is doing fine today. I kind of had a little slip up. I was at the store getting gas and I had an instant craving for a hershey's chocolate bar. I ate 2 squares and thought, "WHAT AM I DOING?" :nono: I then threw the rest of it away and said to heck with cheating! The only person I am cheating is myself and I have done that way too many times.

I think tonight I will try a new recipe for Chicken in a Wine Sauce. A lady I work with makes it and it is great!!! Only 6 points per serving!!!

My husband and I are trying to get ready to leave on our trip so tonight will be a long night. Before we had Kayli :bb: (4 months old) we just picked up and went. Now with a little one it is not quite so easy. Grandma is keeping her and they have lots of fun things planned!!! I will miss her smile in the morning!!! Well, at 3:30 AM!!!!!!!!! Maybe one day we will get to sleep in a little later;) But she will only be little once and I intent to enjoy each day to the fullest with her!! She is a great inspiration to lose the weight, I want to be able to stick around and watch her grow up. And by golly I want to be a grandma some day!!!!!

Well, I must get back to work. Skipping the lunch hour so I can leave early today. :dancer: I had a quick lunch of a grilled chicken breast, grapes, and a sugar free jello. Tasted great and really filled me up!!

Take care!!!!!!!!! :balloons:

Heather

kmk 08-19-2004 05:04 PM

Hello everyone -

Janette - When I was going to meetings I remember the leader asking one of the members if she enjoyed the french fries she confessed to having at the fair that week. The woman hesitated and then, with a big grin, said "Yes!". Our leader pointed out that this was the healthier way to approach a "cheat". Guilt only makes us miserable and we usually regress when we feel this way. If you choose to indulge tonight, enjoy your transgression-savor that moment-then move on.

Darby - I too have been welcomed back into the fold and its a comfort. This is only my 4th day back OP but I already feel successful and don't feel like I'm on my own with this. This site is a great source of support. Together we can all do it!

Heather - Enjoy your adult weekend. It took my husband and I 14 years before we went away without the kids. Its great that your husband is so supportive. Stress at home often triggers me to reach for food. My family doesn't understand how tough this can be. I've allowed that to keep me from making this work in the past. Have a great time and don't feel guilty about the time from Kayli. Grandma's are excellent at spoiling babies. Besides, happy parents make happy babies.

Lynn - I've been doing the parking further away trick for a while. I think I'll get a pedometer as well. It would be encouraging to see that I'm not as sedentary as I often feel.

Yesterday I found myself getting hungry mid-afternoon. I fought it off with vegetable soup. This afternoon I was busy doing errands and housework. Now its almost dinnertime and I haven't felt the urge to graze. This old dog make yet learn a new trick(and get a clean house, too!).

Hope the night goes well for all.

-Kristin

Since it was pouring down rain when we got off work we didn't get to go to the car show. So we went to eat mexican food instead. I ended up with 15 points and a total of 28 for the day. Guess that isn't too bad.

Heather - actually you did the right thing by buying that candy bar. If that was what you were hungry for and were able to eat a couple of bites and then throw the rest away, you are getting there! That's the secret to maintaining--being able to be satisfied with a couple of bites of a "treat" and then walk away. Congrats!
