2day is my first on this website and all the messages always seem so encouraging so i decided to sign up. I am on a mission to lose some serious weight. I have let go of all sugar and fried foods and i maintain like 1200 calories a day and 30 granms of fat which has been difficult but achievable. Even though I can't think how eating Ice Cream or my Mom's fried chicken could somehow be a bad thing.. but my downfall has been exercise .. I just cant do it..I have tried exercise tapes and walking outside isn't that much of an option I live in atlanta and for some reason there seems an abnormally large population of squirrels and raccoons in my apt. complex and they scared me to death...and I am way to emabarass to go to a Gym ..I know excuses, excuses.. I need something i can do in my home that is effective and nothing dancey-type..Be forewarned i have tried Tae-Bo and Richard Simmons I would like a good walking-type fitness tape....Thanks in advance.. I need all the support and love you can give...

Manie,

There is a thread called "What do you do for exercise?" that has lots of good ideas.

If you want to walk and are scared of the squirrels, then drive to a park. I was in Atlanta two years ago for a week and I walked around Stone Mountain every night in 90 degree weather. I hated sweating, but I hated the fat even more.

Another idea is to go to a school where they have a track that you could walk. I've done that and it works well.

Hey,

Give the Leslie Sansone walking videotapes a try! I really love them; I alternate them with treadmill and outdoor walking. Check them out at www.collagevideo.com.

Hi,

Are you following the WW123 plan? I have a feeling you're not, because you wouldn't feel like anything (ice cream, fried chicken) is completely off limits. On this plan they are not. It's worth checking into if you can. Lots of us are losing lots of weight and still eating what we like. Also, you sould like you have the old "all or nothing" mentality (believe me, I'm very familiar with it)- when actually you may need more than 1200 calories a day to lose weight. Especially if you're trying to incorporate excercise. I'm sure there are people here more qualified to respond than me but you really struck a chord with me since I used to think just the same way. I'm so glad to be able to lose weight and not feel that way anymore, I just had to share. Good luck!

I live in Michigan and the shopping malls allow people to walk indoors. You can always find someone to walk with and get support.

www.collagevideo.com is a great site to order from. www.videofittness.com is another great site that has all sorts of exercise videos that are reviewed by regular people. I never buy a video until I've checked it out there.
Good Luck.
