Easter Challenge

This will be a slightly shorter challenge, as Easter falls on April 11 this year. That gives us 25 days to work on some new goals- or give some old ones another try. :)

My goals are:
1. To walk an average of 7km/day- or a total of 175km by April 11.
2. To reach 170lbs.
3. To do one physical activity each week that is not walking. (curling, skating,...)

This week I am experimenting with my pts to see if eating more will help me lose more effectively. If that doesn't work, I will have to try less...:sigh:

golfergirl 03-17-2004 09:32 AM

Hi Tara I am in... I have plans for the end of April, but I will adapt them for the 11th...
Here we go...

1) COUNT POINTS EVERYDAY!!!
2) Gym- 5 days a week
3) Run 2 miles for warm-up w/o walking
4) Stairstepper 20min 3 days a week
5) Sit-ups and Push-ups EVERYDAY
6) End of April 170- by April 11th 175

Hopefully this month will be a better weight loss month for me!! Last month was good with the goals but the weight didn't come off, though the inches did, so if it keeps up I will be thrilled. YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jen-L 03-17-2004 11:46 AM

ME to ME to...

I am back for another challenge. Just love you gals too much not to!!! :)

I want to lose 5 or more pounds and inch closer to my Baby's 1 year Goal!!!
Cook new and exciting healthy meals!!!
Exercise at least 3 times a week!!!
Drink at least 80 or more ounces of water a day!!!

Here we go again!!!

SaskieMom 03-17-2004 05:53 PM

Glad to see you back, Golfergirl and Jen! :) I would miss you both if you didn't chat regularly!!
Its nice to see that there are new threads popping up here- sometimes it is slow and boring!
I am having an ok day, still OP, but awfully hungry. I hate not being able to eat supper until after 6:30, but if I want to wait for DH I have to.
Whats new and exciting today?

golfergirl 03-17-2004 05:57 PM

Hi Tara- Nothing new here... almost done with work and then straight to the gym. I am also starving right now, but have done very well with points today... it's been over a week and I haven't cheated at all :-) I weighted myself yesterday and was 179, but I don't know if that's a fluke because I had just exercised hard...could be promissing :-)

Hope all is good with you...sounds like you are doing well!!

SaskieMom 03-18-2004 08:29 AM

I'm doing ok with the program. As I said earlier, I am using a higher pts target this week, to see what it does to my loss. I feel like I am eating an awful lot, though! I will try it until next WI, and see what the results are.
Congrats on being in the 170's!! It is always exciting to get into a new "zone"! :)
I am really enjoying teaching grade two. They are an amazing class, and the day is very fun! Quite a switch from my last job, which was mainly grade nine subjects! Only half a day of school today, then I hope to get in a nap, a walk, some visiting, and some work!!
Have a great morning!

Itryharder 03-18-2004 08:37 AM

Hi Challengers,
I'm in! This time around I plan to gradually increase my time on the treadmill to one full hour and a total of three miles.
My eating plan is to stick with it! (I got a little carried away with emotional and then social eating in the last challenge.)
Good luck to all of us! :cp:

Jen-L 03-18-2004 08:42 AM

Hey gals... I have been sick most of the week. There is a bug going around, and I caught it. Emma was vommitting on Monday and diarrhea on Tuesday, then I got it, without the vomitting, but I am still quite miserable. Tomorrow and Saturday I have training sessions that we are teaching. I think I may be able to just be the helper tho. Friday is the evening and Saturday is all day. BLUCHHH. So needless to say I have not gotten in my exercise this week!

Glad to see everyone back and in gear. Once my tummy settles, I can't wait to kick it up a notch!!!

golfergirl 03-18-2004 09:49 AM

Hi all... so I checked the scale again last night and am at 179...yeah... I did 40 minutes in the gym last night. My legs were just burning, but it felt SO good!!! :-) I can see the difference now...I just noticed it today when I put on a sweater that is a little form fitting and it went in at the waist more than usual...it actually looked good. Usually I put it on and take it off because I am too self conscience in it...not this time :-) I have to keep it up, so far so good!!

dreed1957 03-18-2004 12:59 PM

I'm in . . .

Weight Goal 175 by April 11th.
Exercise - 3-5 times per week
Water - at least 64 oz per day

SaskieMom 03-18-2004 06:12 PM

Hmmm...that is really cool that so many of us are around the same weight!
I feel a little sad. My SIL has lost 3 lbs more than I have (she started a month sooner) but she looks so great. She is about 4 inches shorter than I am. I guess that is one perk to being shorter!
My higher pts experiment is great. It is almost supper time and I still have tons of pts- which makes me feel less inclined to go OP. Just knowing I have lots of pts to work with is a good support!

Itryharder 03-19-2004 09:25 AM

Great day yesterday. Within points--journaled--and stepped up my exercise to
2 1/4 miles in 50 minutes. Weigh to go for all of us! :cp:
Judy

SaskieMom 03-19-2004 12:54 PM

Way to go with the exercise, Judy! You are doing great!
I am also doing well with the pts. Alotted myself extra, but never goot around to using them yesterday! :D Thats the kind of lifestyle I want to adopt for life! Right now I am waiting...hopefully I get a call soon to tell me I will be teaching for the next 6 weeks. Keep your fingers crossed for me!!

Jen-L 03-19-2004 01:11 PM

Hey all. Our server at work crashed yesterday and they are still trying to get stuff off. If we can't get things reconstructed, it will be a nightmare. As of now my major files are gone. I am not sure how I can recreate them all. So I am a bit depressed and hoping that the reconstruction works. The guy that was supposed to be making backups WASN'T and DIDN'T last week. Even tho we discussed this at a meeting that it has to be done. I am PO'ed!!!!!

So my week has been horrid. Emma was sick monday and tuesday with vomitting and diarhea, I got sick then, have a training tonight and tomorrow, server crashed, I am tired and cranky. CALGONNNNNNNNNNNN................................. ...........

So that is where I am at. Not sure where I am weightwise because I didn't weigh this week, nor did I exercise. Next week is a new week and hopefully less problems!

Tara... here is pixie dust and good wishes coming your way for the job!!!

SaskieMom 03-19-2004 05:08 PM

Jen- wow, you are having one of those- "If it can go wrong, it will go wrong" kind of weeks! :( I hope things go better for you soon.
Thanks for the pixie dust- it must have worked! I got offered a 6-8 wk contract with possibility of it extending to the end of the year. :D That is one big lucky break, it is very hard to get into the school system here. Now I am trying to decide what to do about the daycare. I could still go ahead with it, hire competant people to work at it, and run the planning side of things. Or I could just try to find a great sitter. I am not sure what to do!!
I am off to do painting and cleaning...the closest thing I have gotten to exercise this week!!!

Jen-L 03-19-2004 05:53 PM

Hey Tara. Glad you got the job. Can you tell I love Tinkerbelle?? Spreading that Pixie Dust is so magical!!! As for the daycare, even if you choose not to do it, at least you always have that to fall back on in the future. I guess it is a matter of finances and time. Good Luck deciding!

As for my day... 10 minutes before I leave for my training. An hour or so ago I was told to check my data that had gotten corrupted. I spent quite awhile trying to get into it, kicking the computer... all that good stuff. And then I finally got it to work after several rebuilds and verifies. This is after we have spent most of the day just trying to recover things off the server. So now my stuff is working, minus the file that was open when the server crashed. YIPPPEEEE... The rest of the stuff is still in limbo and if we can't recover it I will be just sick to my stomach. That means overtime trying to recreate it because our deadline is in a week. OH MY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have a happy weekend. I will be working most of it and then maybe checking out my taxes for a bit. Dreading that. Ta Ta!!!

SaskieMom 03-20-2004 08:44 AM

Jen,
So, what is the current status of your lost files? I know you train people, but what exactly is your job??? It sounds so high tech and confusing!! I hope you don't have to work OT, it must be so hard with a family. Sounds like a crappy weekend ahead for you. :( Will your taxes be bad? We filed ours yesterday. Or rather, my Mom filed ours for us. No complaints, with all our revenue properties and me being off work for part of the year we were able to get a refund.
I have been able to stay OP, on my modified plan. Only problem is that I don't feel slimmer by any means! I don't know that this plan will help much with weight loss!
Gotta get going, have to take my dear kitties for haircuts. (At 8m on a Saturday, am I crazy??) Then DD is going to my parents for the day and night, DH and I are curling in a Funspiel. It will be lots of excercise and fun, which we need!
TTYL!

Itryharder 03-20-2004 10:32 AM

Tara, congrats on the job offer. I hope it extends to the summer. :cp: :high:

Jen, glad most of your stuff is back. Where was it hiding? Guess it doesn't matter as long as Cyberspace returned it to you. I hope you have a *much better week*.
:grouphug:

I'm doing okay. I repeated my exercise yesterday and will go a little slower today because my knee felt it yesterday. Food was plentiful yesterday, but I went into Flexpoints and I should be okay. Glad we've got this challenge to keep us honest.

Love,
Judy
My official WI will be on Wednesdays from now on.

Proov 03-20-2004 11:03 PM

Hi, it's me Diana (DewCan), I'm on someone else's computer and it's a hassle to change the login name. Hope you're all doing well. I'm missing you ladies, lots and lots.
I'm in on the new challenge, sounds good. I want to lose 3 pounds and then I'll be down 20 altogether. Should be doable. Congrats on the job Tara, I read a bit of the posts and saw you got a job. Taxes, thank goodness we're done, we got lots back, always nice.
I gained a pound last week, I don't know why, and am really frustrated with that. Well gotta go, one fingered typing is too hard.
Diana

Sunshine2003 03-21-2004 03:21 PM

Hello everyone. I am new here and was wondering if I could join? I am 23yrs old and live in South Dakota. I started my weightloss journey at 177.5lbs I am 5'5". I lost 7.5lbs on my own by joining a gym and eating smaller portions until I started WW on my own Feb 23rd. I have since lost another 9lbs for a total of 16.5lbs. I would like my Easter challenge weight to be 155. Does this challenge end on easter or the Friday following it? Thank you all very much and I hope I am not barging in on anyone.

Sunshine2003 03-21-2004 03:23 PM

sorry I forgot... I began my weighloss journey January 19th, 2004. I am currently 161lbs

SaskieMom 03-21-2004 06:33 PM

Welcome, Sunshine! Congrats on your current successes! We will end the challenge on April 11, which is Easter Sunday.
Nice to see you , Diana! Don't worry about 1 lb, that can be gone very quickly! I miss you lots!!
I have had a busy weekend. Lots of exercise- we curled all day yesterday. Lots of food and drinks too. But since this is a change for life, I have to work those high days in and balance them out with lows.
Tomorrow will be my first official day of school. It is very exciting! :)

golfergirl 03-22-2004 09:38 AM

TARA- CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is great about the job, how exciting!

Well...it was a long weekend. I was with my cousins all weekend staying with them while their parents were gone. They eat more than anyone I've ever seen. I can't believe it. SO...I did ok on Friday I was within a couple points of being OP which was pretty good. Though Saturday and Sunday was NOT good for points. Though I figured it would be hard to do. They don't have anything healthy in the house (they are all SKINNY my aunt 5'7 about 120lbs and the daughters have the same build) anyway we ran around a lot outside and with the dog so I got a little exercise but not as much as I would have liked to! Anyway, I was 179 when I left and last night I was 181, so it's not so bad, that could be just from the lack of any structure all weekend! It will go away fast. I have my official WI tonight...then we will really see :-)

Sorry to ramble. Looks like we have some new additions...Welcome!! And seems like the rest of you are doing very well, even with all the commotion (right Jen)...

Have to get to work for a while

Jen-L 03-22-2004 10:17 AM

Hey gals. I am back at work and not sure how busy I will be. I had a long weekend and it kind of felt like I didn't have a weekend at all. I definately need a break. As for what I do. I work for a small software development company. I do training and the accounts. I train our customers on how to use the software. We have 4 different software systems. For the one, it is mostly phone training. But this weekend we did a classroom training on another system where people come and we teach them.

Our server actually crashed and everything was gone. However, we got a data recovery program in and between Friday and this weekend, we were able to recover most things. Some things are gone, but we got most of it back, so that is good. What I lost was all my accounting data. When the server crashed, the files were open, which caused them to lock up. But the recovery program fixed that and I only lost a couple things.

I really haven't exercised in over a week and I am starting to feel it. I am getting back on track this week. Hubby now has the cold that all of us got, so he is crabby. I really want to be down by Easter so I have something to celebrate. I can't believe how fast this year is going by. I still have to buy Kate an Easter basket, and I decided to buy little gifts for the kids baskets instead of candy. I will get Emma a teeny chocolate bunny tho, but we don't need all that other stuff in the house!!!

Jen-L 03-22-2004 10:18 AM

Oh and Emma wants Dora the Explorer Underware!! Guess what the Easter Bunny is bringing her!! And new bath bubbles!

SaskieMom 03-22-2004 06:06 PM

I can't believe it is almost Easter!! I love all the different easter eggs they have out...:)
I haven't been tracking much the past few days, but I have been staying fairly reasonable. I have been busy, so that helps!
That is so cute that Emma wants Dora underwear!

golfergirl 03-23-2004 09:28 AM

Well, WI was last night, no inches lost, but 1 lb...so at least it's a loss after this weekend I am suprized I am down!!!

DewCan 03-23-2004 11:21 AM

Tara, I hope you're having a wonderful day at school right now, I'm sure thinking about you. What is your position there?
Jen, I'm glad you recovered most of your files, and I wish you speed with making your deadline now. Coll underwear, but I have to tell you something funny. My nephew pulled down his pants the other day to show me his cool bob the Builder undies, it was funny, then he ran to my DH in the next room with his pants around his ankles to show him, it was cute. His Dad said he'd never buy "cool" undies again, as he's been showing everyone.
golfergirl, congrats on being down :cb: Where are you at now? The weight you gained on the weekend will be gone quickly
Sunshine, welcome, adn keep up the good work, it's coming off :cb:
Well, I lost 2.75 pounds this week, and had a not so good eating week. Last week I had a pretty good eating week and gained a pound, weird, but I'm happy. I have now lost 20 pounds since last August, slow and steady, but I will get there. I have to keep readjusting my goals, how annoying. But hte one I am happy to adjust is that the other day I said I wanted to readch 20 lost by Easter and now I'm there already. So my goal changed ;) I want to lose 3 in the 3 weeks we have left.
I'm still exercising daily, so at least I do that consistantly. I do 30-60 minutes per day. I am going ot start doing the WW program again, I've been off lately. Well last week I did 3 days and then fell off the wagon and I hope to stay on it this week!!
Keep it up ladies, we will get there

Jen-L 03-23-2004 11:44 AM

Hey everyone. I have been busy and haven't had a lot of time to check in. I am going to try to get to the gym at lunch since I didn't go at all last week. Shame on me, but life got in the way! I am frustrated, yet I know that there are things I could improve.

There is a lady here at work that just joined WW. Of course I feel bad because I am still struggling with my baby weight. It makes me feel a little bad. Also, my aunt is severely overwieght and I think she is cutting her carbs to lose weight. She has been this way my whole life, so it is a struggle with her. I have invited her to WW in the past, but she refused. I think maybe she is finally realizing that walking and breathing is very difficult. Hope it works for her.

OK, guess I should get some more work done. I am frazzled lately because I don't know where to go next. I have this project to get done and no clue how to do it. The guy that is supposed to help me will be gone Thurs and Friday. I have no clue what to do.

DewCan 03-24-2004 09:58 AM

Good morning, just having my coffee and saying hi. :coffee:
Jen, I hope things unfrazzle for you at work, and soon :dizzy: Go to the gym and take out your frustrations there ;) That might help you destress.
Okay guys, I'm stressing, I have now lost 20 pounds and remeasured. Compared to what I was 20 pounds ago, my numbers have barely budged. What is up with that? Maybe that is why I can't see my weight loss and don't feel any different. This is very discouraging!!!!! I ahve only lost 1.8" in my waist. No wonder I think I still look 6 months pregnant. The biggest number difference was my rib cage (gotta measure that back fat somehow  ) 2.4" loss, and a 2.4" on my thigh. I think it's all sliding down into my waist  I guess I ws expecting to lose more in the waist and hips. :(
I stayed in my points yesterday, 24 :cb: I will do it again today. It has been a real struggle for me to keep journalling. Well should go... Have a wonderful day all,
Diana

Jen-L 03-24-2004 10:45 AM

Hey all. I am still working like crazy. Everyone at work is sick and now I feel my chest getting tight. If I get the hacking cough that everyone else has, I am going to be mad. One person is hacking and hacking and doesn't take measures to make sure others don't get her germs. I just hate that! And this weekend I sat next her most of the time (had to).

Diana, Are you exercising much? Your lack of inches may mean that your muscle tone needs some work. I know when I take a couple weeks off from exercising, my body seems much more jiggly. I am so glad you are able to post!

Well, better get some work done. I feel so good, I donated a big box of scrap paper to our daycare. It was card stock paper that was printed on one side, so we can't use it. So I loaded it up and brought it in. They were so happy because paper is expensive and the kids use a lot!

DewCan 03-24-2004 11:12 AM

Jen nice of you to bring the paper there. I hope my little boy likes to draw :)
I exercise everyday and have since Jan 1. At least 30 min, and lately I've been doing aerobics, occasionally with weights, I've done tons of situps, pretty much daily. It's not lack of exercise that the numbers aren't moving. I almost wish it was so that I knew how to change it.
Diana

SaskieMom 03-24-2004 05:46 PM

Hey, ladies, sorry to be scarce lately.
Diana, I am teaching Grade Two. I have to go back to school in a couple hours, so I have to be quick. I love the position, but things have been pretty nuts lately! I haen't been journalling, and I had a meeting when my WI is on Tuesday. I am pretty sure I am up! Do you have a computer at home now? How are you enjoying where you live?
Jen- How is work going? Are things starting to get better? I hope you don't get that cold. It will be nice when cold and flu season is finally over!

Jen-L 03-25-2004 08:51 AM

I got the cold. Not sure if I got it from the kids or work tho. We are all sick. And most people I know have gotten something recently, so it is going around. UGHHH. I feel rotten.

Tara, I can imagine your life is a little hectic at the moment. Going from stay at home to work can do that! Keep thinking positive!

I am pretty busy at work for the next 2 days. I have 2 projects to get done. One is 1/2 done, but a lot of work, the other should be pretty easy. But both need to be done tomorrow. And I am sick. Wahhhhh...

My girls are getting their pics taken at daycare today. They just did it in September, so I am not sure why they are doing it again so soon. I am only having thier pictures taken together tho, not separate.

DewCan 03-25-2004 10:04 AM

Tara, grade 2 sounds fun. Cute little kids (but i'm sure not all the time  ) There is a computer where I live, it's just quite slow and a Mac and I feel a little weird being on someone else's computer. We're loving the place we're at now. It's a beautiful, new, large home overlooking a ravine and creek. There's deer to watch and the perennials are starting to grow :D. It's just really nice, and I'm grateful to be here. Wonderful people to let us stay here. Oh and there are 2 large dogs which I really like.
Jen, you sound so busy! And sick on top of it all :sorry: I'm feeling sad for you. I go back to work in 6.5 weeks. Part time though, but I'm sur eit will be a huge adjustment. I'm getting up early already to get my poor body used to it.
I didn't count points yesterday, I went over but not too bad though. Probably would have been 24 except for the one piece of KFC I had. Todays a new day.
Diana

dreed1957 03-25-2004 01:24 PM

Weigh in was last night - down another 3#. I'll take that - can you imagine I had 12 sticks of butter stuck to this body that aren't there anymore???? I love using that, even if you lose 1/4 pound, that is still the equivalent of one stick of butter!!!!

Jen-L 03-25-2004 04:51 PM

Wow Debra you are doing so well. Stick with it. You know, it is kind of gross thinking of 12 sticks of butter hanging from you, but that is a good thing. Makes you want to get rid of it more. I also use the sack of flour/sugar one! OH... and after my first was born and I was losing the PG weight, I once said I have lost an "Emma" and hubby thought that was funny!!!

DewCan 03-26-2004 04:00 PM

Debra, that is fantastic :cb: that's a lot to lose. I use the butter/sugar/flour things too. I also think that I have lost my boy in weight, he's 20 pounds and I 've lost 20. And he's sure heavy to carry around for a long time.

Well, gotta go. I've had 4 good eating days in a row. hopefully I'll do good at the party I'm going ot tongiht. :crossed:

Diana

DewCan 03-29-2004 09:49 AM

Good Morning :coffee:

Well, I had a great weekend, hope you all did too. I had a bad eating weekend, well Saturday was. I weigh in tonight and know I'll be up, but only because it's that TOM. I hope it won't get me too down in spirits though. Have a great day.

Diana

golfergirl 03-30-2004 09:52 AM

Alright, I haven't been a good poster lately!! BUT...I will be better. Though it was a horrible week of eating and exercising last week, too much going on!! Actually ended up staying home sick yesterday because I was SO exhausted from all week and weekend!! I feel much better today!! I am still holding at 181...so I can't complain, I didn't do anything right last week and I am not up that is a good thing!!
