As you all read my other post, I am not losing and am having a difficult time staying OP but I looked at last weeks journal and I noticed that on many days I would have a granola bar (2), a 2 point bar (2), and at night, a half cup of sherbet or an ounce of Booties (2). Although these are within my point range, could this affect my weight loss? They are all healthy snacks within my point range but I would have them everyday. I don't know ..what do you all think?
Hi Fran,
It's always an option you could choose to shake things up a bit to change your type of snacks around some, but I have reached goal eating ALOT of snacks everyday.
I have pirates booty, a chocolate muffin, usually a tootsie pop or another sugary snack and always a bakers breakfast cookie.
I am in the 18-25 point range and have these daily.
It has never effected my losses as long as I stay within range!!
You might get some different opinions here though....
WW is such a personal thing with such different results for different people that I don't want to comment on eating snacks on a daily basis. What I do want to say is that at my WW mtg. when people have trouble losing, my wonderful lecturer always says, "Do something different." So, that 's what I'll say to you. Since you are within your points, but having the same snacks every day, change what you're doing. Select another type of snack, eat more protein, make sure you're getting in 1-3 points in fat each day, shake up what you're doing and see if that helps. Good luck and keep posting.
HI,
I think I have the same problem too. I've been
on WW for 8 weeks and have only lost 4 lbs. Some of the girls in the group said even though I was staying within my point range I was eating too many carbs. I wasn't eating enough fruits and vegetables. So for this week i'm really trying to eat more fruits and vegetables. I think every person is different but i know the key for me is to eat more fruits.
My WW leader has commented that she sometimes sees problems with people losing when they consume sugary foods, even though they are staying within points.
You might want to try a week without the sweets and see if it makes a difference. You also might want to double check the nutrition labeling. You might find that you're eating two "portions" even though it's only one bar.
Great info guys. i really am deyermined to change things around this week. I want to consume more fruits and veggies as well as watch my snack in take. You know i am a fim believer that somewhere along the line, something has to give!
I have done the program every which way. Lot's of snacks, no snacks. And when I do snack- it's always plenty of the kind of items you mentioned.
I never found it to make any difference at all. As long as I kept within my point range, the outcome on the scale was the same.
I even went through a phase where I used practically all my points on junk. Dove Bars, Twinkies, hardly any veggies - no fruit, Milk only occassionally. Very little protein. Honest! And - I lost just fine. Because I stayed within my points. Not anything I would recommend. Now- I'm fanatical about good nutrition. I still have my Dove
Bars- but only when I can fit one in after getting in my requirements.
But the point I'm making- is calories(or points as we call them) really is the bottom line as far as I can see from my personal experience. That is, if your talking weight loss only. If your not exceeding your points- you should lose. regardless of the food choices your making to fill in those points. Be sure your figuring your points out accurately. Are some items, maybe more points than you thought? You have to really read all labels to be sure a serving size is what you think it is.
I don't know if it could be snacking that is causing your problem. Everyone is a little different. For me, I gain weight if I only eat three meals each day. But I plan my meals so that I'm spreading out the regular food I might eat in a three-meal plan over a 5-6 meal plan. I don't eat foods that people think of as "snack" foods between my regular mealtimes.
I don't think those foods are "bad". I don't think any food, in and of itself, is "bad". I eat this way for two reasons. One, I feel so much healthier when I eat that way. I have a lot more energy. Two, I don't find the "snack" foods satisfying. I get hungry when I eat that way. So, I save the treats for an after dinner dessert, providing I have some points left or have some banked.
It has taken me a long time to figure out what works for me. I had to follow the program in different ways (three meals, some snacks, mini meals) for a while and see what patterns developed over time. Sometimes, I think, we have to accept a time of plateaus or small gains while we discover what our bodies prefer. Once we do that, then it seems to be a matter of tweaking it on occasion.
