I was wondering what had happened to this site... i have always accessed the board through the following URL, which i have bookmarked...

http://www.3fatchicks.com/cgi-bin//f...e=5&LastLogin=

See what it says? So i've been patiently waiting... Little did i know you've been back in business for days... i keep getting the message saying you're down... there may be lots more like me who are still awaiting the grand reopening...

then again, perhaps i'm the only idiot who didn't think to check if the URL had changed.....

Doubt that you are alone, you are definately not an idiot, other than that I do not know anything about what you are talking about. This magic box on my table puts all kinds of information into my hands and gives me all kinds of power for the simple price of a hookup thingie.

My service at the office, did provide a "forwarding" message, while at home it just fixed itself.

Glad to see you back Deb.

Hi There,

Thanks for bringing that to our attention. I will immediately let Suzanne know. I was not aware of the problem and she probably wasn't either.

The reason some people are still getting the message that the forum is closed is because that page is cached in their browsers. These people have bookmarked the forum only. Because it is cached, they aren't even getting the redirect to the new forum.

Unfortunately, many people don't even realize that we have a whole website out there, and the forum can be accessed correctly through the link on the main page of the site

You'd be surprised how much email we are still getting from people asking when the forum will be back up.

Hmm.... it's not in my cache.. i tried "refresh" and got the same message. Then i cleared my cache and all temporary folders.. got the same message.. then i punched the url into Netscape (which i only just installed yesterday, having used IE exclusively up to this point).. and got the same message... no redirect!! So this page does seem to exist on your end of it, and not just in my cache... which means, maybe it is something you would be able to edit.. ?

It's safest to just bookmark www.3fatchicks.com and then click on the forum link from that page.

Besides, they've got some great stuff there!

I agree Lauren. Bookmark the main page and go from there - that is what I always do. It will ALWAYS work that way - unless the site is really down - which could happen from time to time.

You are definitely viewing a cached page. The reason I say this is that the page you are describing doesn't even exist on the server, it was removed on March 4th and replaced with a new page that is white and has big ugly letters on it that says the forum has moved and to update your bookmarks. It contains a link to the new forum, and a redirect script to forward you over. So there is nothing we can edit, if it isn't even there. Unfortunately, a lot of people aren't getting it due to their cache.

Sometimes a cache can be very difficult to clear. I've gone through that myself, on many occasions.

However, it could also be cached by your internet provider. I recently learned that some internet providers have a way of caching information to reduce their bandwidth. This is only a possibility for people behind a proxy, from what I can tell. How long it lasts will depend on the isp and when they clear their cache
