I was wondering how many points one may expect to get upon reaching goal. My WW leader says that she maintains on 40-45 points per day. Is this typical? I know that this will vary with each individual--I'd just like to hear what others are maintaining at.

Thank you!

Your leader must have one heck of a metabolism! About 31 points was my highest number for maintaining. That was after many weeks of really being good and not going off the deep end. But once I got in a day here or there where I blew it- big time. I had to bring my points down to take off the pound or two or three that I had gained from a few bad days. Then I found I had to lower my points for a while to maintain to something like 26 or 29. It's ever changing. I really don't know of anyone who can do 40 points. But then, I don't know many people who made it to maintenance and stuck with journaling and keeping track once they got there. Most people tend to make the mistake of playing it by ear. Doing what seems right and hopeing that their not exceeding their limit. Those people may very well be doing 40 points and not know it.

Geez, I'd give my right arm to be able to maintain on 40 points!!! My maintenance range is the same as when I was losing - 18 to 23 points. I exercise quite a bit, too. But I am over 40, and I've always had a slow metabolism.

The good news is that after 18 months of being lifetime, I'm used to eating this way now, so I seldom feel deprived.

Default Jealous of 40 pt maintenance...

I have been on program since april 1998. Hit lifetime after 16 months (55 pounds) and continue to journal and keep track religiously. Had read an interesting book called "Thin For Life" and many formerly overweight people who were interviewed said that they can attribute their ultimate success in keeping the weight off to writing down everything they ate all the time. I have found that in weeks I "slack off" in journaling, I have weight gain; this, apart from usual and customary hormonal fluctuations. I maintain on 20-25 points a day (in general, w/ weekends shooting up to 30) and this is with approximately 24-28 points a week in activity. I am 5'5" tall, and weigh (when I'm good) 137-139. Often (as now) I am between 140-143. My goal weight was 150.

I am a maintaining Lifetime mbr & a leader and maintain very well at 30-32 points daily. Keep in mind it will vary with each person based on many factors!

Its very important to journal accuratley during maintenance to see how many you can have without gaining!

I am confident you will be able to add some points and do well!!!Good Luck!!!!

I have returned to lifetime about one month ago...I am averaging 30 points per day. Some days I have more and some days are less....they balance each other out.

That's a relief! I think I could easily adjust to about a 30 point average in my lifestyle. 18-23 points per day would be pretty tough for me, though. I will be very accurate in my journaling during maintenance (as I am now) so I can get this down to an exact science! I wish I had done that three years ago when I reached goal!

I believe the key is to continue to journal....even if you have a bad day (I talk to some people and they skip journaling if they go over). I can see where and why I am going over and catch the weight gain before it happens. (Like this weekend I had 40 - 45 points so I will cut back for a few days to about 20 - 25 so I do not gain). Also, keep exercising....this is really why I am able to maintain at about 30 points!

I'm maintaining my 5-foot, 110 lb, size 6-8, stocky frame, at 24-33 points per day (I know, it's a wider range than normal, but works for me...)
