Default TFL--Week of October 20, 2003

Hello everyone and welcome to a new week.

What a weekend. DH and I went to a play that was very funny called A Night in the Theater. It is about some annoying theater patrons. On Saturday, I went to and Art Show outside in a town near me. It was a gorgeous day and I even got some Christmas shopping done. Sunday was a total bust weather-wise. It rained the entire day. I tried to get some golf in, but no luck, so we went to the movies. If you haven't seen Mystic River--go see it. It was very good; it's a drama and very intense.

I weighed myself this morning and I'm not happy. I don't know what I've been doing, except eating bigger portions (that'll do it). I have these pesky two pounds that I can't shake.

Girl, I am with you. I have no idea where my huuuge bloat of the day is from (I have a sneaking suspicion its my TOM), but I feel like all those 7 lbs I lost in the last 5 weeks is gone. I sure they'll reappear in two days, but yech.

Domina -- sounds like a great play, as for your weight gain, we'll both try portion control, okay.

Melissa -- how was your weekend?

Susan-- How are things?

Long week for me here, I leave on the redeye to Washington tonight for a week of meetings and then to London for the weekend and then back to DC and then home. Sounded great when I planned it. Both DP and I have been working around the clock to get stuff done for these meetings, I can't wait until my last presentation is done and I'm sipping my ginger martini ...

Unfortunately, the weather will not be sitting outside weather. I am bummed about that.

The upside is that the hotels I am staying at have great breakfasts that are amazingly spa (grilled toms, egg whites, steamed spinach) so I know I am starting out my day well and have great gyms. As for London, I'm not there long enough to do any damage. Whew.

So, I'll try and check in while I'm gone (new laptop with wireless, cool huh?).

Have a great week!

Can I join in on whining about the "bloat"??? I can tell TOM is looming and I feel huge! I need to work on portion control as well and keeping my journal--I let both things slack this past week, or should I say weekend? Anyway, I'm going to work at it because I don't want to see the scale inching upwards again!

My weekend was so busy--worked Friday at WW, Saturday attended a conference from 8-5 and then took DH to the doctor for a injection in his back (he pinched something and has been moving really slow), Sunday worked at WW in the a.m. took DS #2 to the mall to get pants, came home and did some house stuff...phew! I was actually glad to get to work yesterday, lol.

I have a short work week as I'm off to Michigan on Friday for a convention followed by a week's vacation I'm looking forward to the time off.

Yesterday was a perfectly gorgeous day and I was inside during my lunch hour--isn't that the way it always goes! This morning the temps are in the high 60's but they're saying the temps are going to plummet and get really cold. I planned ahead and brought my raincoat with me to work this morning.

Lala: Hope the meetings go well and that you're able to enjoy yourself a little!

Domina: Our weekend weather wasn't too bad--Saturday during the day it wasn't the best (rain/drizzle) but it cleared up and was clear & cool.

Hi to Susan, Scoutruns, Austin!

Hi everyone,

My bloat is over, but I really did something to my hip. I wince everytime I get up. This getting old is getting old.

My darling partner has purchased some robbitussin for me. I have been hacking my lungs out and since I have a panel today and a presentation, I better be able to talk.

However, other my my hip killing me, I am doing okay. We went out for a Line Office dinner last night at a really good cantonese restaurant for a traditional family dinner. Things were really good, not too salty, I didn't eat very much, but I was very choosy about what I did eat. I think I stayed pretty close to my points for the day. I ate a salad at lunch. Not working out was not good though, I am definitely a person who needs to get the gold star daily.

I did have a nice compliment yesterday from a colleague I hadn't seen since August. He said I looked great and had I been running? I think the last time he saw me I was 8 lbs heavier. Nice to hear.

anyhoo, Melissa -- hope DH feels better.

Domina -- can you please send some nice weather to DC, I am freezing. I wore hose yesterday and was hot, today I didn't and now I'm freezing....

okay, I have written a book. I love wireless, I am typing this in the middle of someone's talk, however, I also finished off my demo in the same time.

Hi everyone!

Well, my suspicions were right--I was up this week and it wasn't pretty by any means (2.8#). I feel bloated but the up side is that it should be gone once TOM shows up. I'll monitor at home so that I can keep myself on track since I won't be going to a meeting next week for a WI. I'll be working a couple evenings but I don't WI at night.

Lala: Our temps have dropped considerably--only in the low 40's today and tonight it's supposed to be even colder and we heard the dreaded snow word on the forecast--although it's probably more south of here than right in town. It's always a nice boost to have a compliment My leader last night told me I looked tall & thin...that made me feel good! Now to hold onto the feeling.

Domina: Hope everything is going well!

lala, sorry to hear about your hip, that's annoying. You take care of that cold; that could get nasty. tsk, tsk, you were sending chat while someone was presenting?? It must have been an interesting talk.

Melissa, sorry about the gain; that's how it's been for me.

I love compliments, though, don't you two?

Take care.

Hi guys,

I am doing the wireless thing again. My talks are over. whoo hoo. Funny thing was when I was in a session and I was the only female, you can really tell what gender science and technology
has the majority in... :rolleyes.

Anyhoo, I am feeling better, but I am taking it easy. I'm going to try and get a elliptical session in today.

I leave tomorrow for London. I am not very excited as I have a 6:20 shuttle to Boston, however, I'll be happy when I'm there tomorrow night. I have two dvds of "keeping up appearances" to watch and some "sex in the city", so I'm set.

So, If I don't talk to you ladies, have a great weekend. I'll be back on Sunday!

Lala: Have a great trip! I'm off myself tomorrow for Michigan and then I have a week off of work! Woohoo! I'm looking forward to the time off.

I'll be checking in periodically from home next week. Wish me luck because when I don't have a set "schedule" i.e. work, my eating tends to be a little erratic. I'm setting sights on a loss the week after my vacation so I'll have to stay focused. Besides I want to get rid of the 2.8 I managed to acquire this past WI.

Have a great weekend everyone!

lala, have a good trip. Enjoy London.

Melissa, enjoy your trip, too. Yes, when I don't have a set schedule, it's easy to grab food here and there. Good luck.

This weekend I'm headed to St. Petersburg to see my mother; dad's on a fishing trip. Then next week it's a business trip to Denver.

Where is Susan?? I hope you're all right.

hiya everyone,
Hope everyone has a great weekend. I am sitting in the lounge waiting for them to board my flight. I guess the loads are light, so we're not rushing things.

I agree with everyone, set schedules keep me on program.

This is why I hate travel, however, since I love it, I'm in a quandry.

My goal on in the next 36 hours is to eat normally. I'm not going to try to eat something that I wouldn't eat at home. I'm meeting a friend from grad school for lunch tomorrow at a great japanese restaurant. Its low points, I'm going to finally get some activity in and I'm not going to hit the local caffe nero to try a piece of banana cake.

I have to say that I did pretty well except the exercise portion of my week. My hip is still bothering me and I'm actually going to see the doctor because of it. I would hate to have done damage at my tender age.

Anyhoo, my main point is that my comfort zones are my home and job, I know what I can eat there. Travelling is dangerous, I'm just learning to try and do it without sabotaging my self.

Hi everybody. I was away for a few days on business and pretty busy at the office otherwise. I have five minutes before my next meeting so thought I'd check in.

lala: Have fun in London. I enjoyed the story you posted re the guy whose trip on the concorde sparked a desire to get healthy. I'm not sure how much 10 stone is in pounds. Do you know?

Melissa: Hope you have a great week off. I can't remember - do you have special plans or will you be enjoying the time off around home? The weather here today is super - not warm, but bright and sunny. "Getting stuff done" kind of weather.

Domina: Gee, you're off travelling too, aren't you. I just realized I'm the only one of the group who's actually at home today. Have fun with your Mom, and in Denver next week. Do they have snow yet? I spoke with my sister in northern New Brunswick a few days ago and it had been snowing all day But -- we bought a snowblower a few weeks ago so we're ready!

We all seem to be in the same boat as far as weight goes. I'm bloated too, but sadly, it's not all from TOM (although some is). I've been a bad girl.

In-laws arrive tomorrow afternoon for a brief visit. No doubt the focus will be food. Sigh...

Have a good weekend everyone.
